An inexpensive DLP to your Xoom

I discovered a great deal today on (by Texas Instruments) brightboxe DLP projectors that were dropped on the target. They normally retail for about $200, but they are currently available (up to) for $90. So I picked up one today to try out it with my Xoom and I was surprised of the quality it produces. This inexpensive and portable DLP projector only includes VGA and composite, but I had already picked up a HDMI adapter / VGA on eBay for $25 to use the Xoom with my conference room projectors (which all have VGA adapters as well).

Don't get me wrong, this projector is not designed to produce HD-quality output to compete with the $1,500 projectors + out there, but it does not output quality (up to 720 P) which rivals that of the other Spotlight $ 500 - $700 for only $90 and the image is very sharp and colorful. Like a laptop to show presentations projector, he shares the Xoom in a group or game videos (or even streaming content) on the road to my Xoom environment, this is the ticket. I also played a movie to a DVD player and hung our family Wii, both looked as good as they do on my LCD TV. This DLP projector uses LED R/G/B to the exit without no bulbs to replace, and a very long service life of the project.

Here is the configuration between the Xoom and DLP projector:

If you are looking for reasonable and inexpensive to use with your Xoom DLP projection options, it's an incredibly good deal. Don't forget that you still need a VGA to HDMI converter / and then you're ready to go! The total cost for me was $ 115 for a DLP player and converter can I use with my Xoom, reader DVD, Wii, or other video source - awesome!

If you want to see if a target has this point keeps in stock (and if so, on what Island), just use this link and enter your zip code:

If you have any other questions on this winning combination and my experiences with it up to now, please let me know.

Jerry,

I can try to put in place tomorrow for you, but the photos generally don't do him justice. You can find several videos of this projector DLP on YouTube and they seem OK, but when you get home and hang it up, the colors are much more dynamic and stronger than what is recorded on YouTube. Someone else had written that the unit does not have focus, but it does and it produces a sharp result for the cost.

  • Low storage problems - Xoom

Someone at - he found a solution to the question of the conditions of STORAGE LOW, that mysteriously appear for a short period of use of your Xoom. I searched on the Internet regarding this issue and it seems that most of the owners are simply hard to reset their device to resolve the problem which, in my view, should not be the case because of the fact that the problem is simply one more time. As for me Ive tried many techniques to recover from storage space to use ES Explorer to remove the temporary files not clearing on cache files but I'm near the 2 GB free space, I had days back my current space is 5 MB!...

IM also at the hearing that Motorola is aware of the problem and that it should have a solution to the issue but that the statement was made 4 months of someone in another forum.

  • Anyone know a fix for the problem of gel (Xoom)

Hey everybody. Does anyone know a fix for the problem of gel in the Xoom? Once from time to time, it hangs for a few minutes, and then "goes back to work. It gets really annoying.

    Greeting debuisson,

    Welcome to the Support Forums!

Are you using the browser (Google) stock on a very regular or frequent basis? If Yes, brief gel is a known problem due to a memory leak in the stock browser that Google has not yet difficult (there are under all versions of Android OS to date). Basically, the continuous browser to consume your memory over time, based on the sites you visit and the length of time, it is active, which makes the system pause/freeze periodically. There are two ways to deal with this, either install a third-party browser (such as FireFox, Dolphin, Opera, Chrome, etc.) or if you really prefer the stock browser, restart your Xoom every two days (to clear/free memory and cache).

Apart from the browser, a third party application of thugs can cause this as well (especially if there are conflicts). The rule of this point, try to use a surveillance (as SystemPanel) application to monitor what is active in memory when you encounter the gel. Close active applications one by one until your gel goes and then locate the updated versions.

Please let me know what you find.

  • about xoom update

people question that xoom now through their phones, and mobile hotspot has not activate their xoom by verizon are going to receive this new update?

Yes, you don't need to have a wireless plan. A WiFi connection (anywhere) will work. They organize the updates into groups, so your Xoom will let you know when the update is available for your device. The Xoom will automatically check when a WiFi connection is available.

  • A question of home on the Xoom 1 and 2 Xoom 10.1

I have the original Xoom and got the Xoom 2 today. I know that the docs of the Xooms are not compatible, I managed to place the Xoom 2 on the standard doc without any problem. My question is, somehow harm the Xoom to 2 to use the doc just as a stand? I guess that I could not load with her, but that I bought the case for it today, its unfortunately lacky especially as a stand.

    Thanks for any input Wanda

    @nccoast,

I wouldn't be able to plug the dock while using it as a stand, however, since the two presentations of pines might get shorted by a metal surface on the outside of your Xoom 2.

  • Any chance to use the Xoom with prepaid data card/key

Since we travel a lot, the idea of paying the data available on our Xoom only WiFi are attractive. I've seen these data "sticks" available for the regular USB ports, but not for the mini USB port located on the Xoom. Even if it was available, he would work on the Xoom without additional software changes?

Or am I totally off base here? (Wouldn't be the first time)

    Welcome dodgema,

The USB port on the Xoom does not currently feature host for USB drives or other storage devices. It does not allow the Xoom to be a connected to a PC as a device (the PC's host) to allow file transfers. Once honeycomb is updated to allow external storage, you must always apply android on the USB device or locally to run a prepaid program. You can use free WiFi at many public hotspots, WiFi only that I saw that you were going to a specific location for the (less flexible for me) access would require. You can, however, use a MiFi device to attach your Xoom out of a cell phone to use its data plan (some are pay as you go and others are unlimited). This gives you a mobile WiFi hotspot everywhere wherever you go.

  • Update HLK75F now out for 4 G/LTE Xooms

Scholarship of the Xoom (especially the 4 G/LTE owners),

A new update has begun to push today for all Xooms to 4 G/LTE. The HLK75F update is NOT related to ICS, so don't start not lead your Champagne bottles again! This update is an upgrade from Verizon HC to support talk 4G maintenance. I got this update at 16: 30 et today, then you may want to start checking your Xoom awaiting daily updates starting tonight.

    Here's the announcement from Verizon:

A link to a recent article on this update:

    http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/11/29/Heres-what-new-in-Verizon-LTE-Xoom-update-hlk75f-hint-its-no...

Please post in this thread if you encounter problems with this upgrade.

    -Doc

    @spetrillo,

If the update failed, your Xoom should recognize the update on hold when you check and then try upgrading again. You were on a questionable WiFi first where the signal may have been discontinued? It is the most common reason that updates fail.

  • Is it possible to back order Xoom parts, like screws, cover, etc.?

    Hi all

Anyone know how I can order parts such as screws, back cover, etc to my Xoom? I know that 'play' with my Xoom my void my warranty, but I'm thinking of "mood" my tablet, and maybe I need part replacements...

    Thank you all.

Try iFixit.com. They will set your Xoom and sell the parts.

  • Xoom compass

Anyone else have problems with the compass of the Xoom? Most of the I downloaded the applications that use it have the compass off the coast of 90 degrees (this may be because the standard Xoom orientation is landscape and phones are portrait). I hope updates but saw almost nothing about it on any of the Xoom advice and starting to wonder if my device is defective!

    mfloser,

I'll keep an eye as well and let you know if I met a trusted application, you can test it with (I can validate myself as well). In the meantime, use Google maps and the GPS function works to see how your Xoom reacts to movement (walk around and check the orientation). It is the same technology used to drive a digital compass interface.

  • Rate apps?

Is it possible to rate on the Xoom applications - I tried tapping and pressing for a long time but I can't find a way to write a review... ?

In the current version of honeycomb market, it is not possible to note or consider directly, but you can note or review your installed applications on the android market web, even from your XOOM.

    Elljay wrote:

  • Try this, it's really bad.

OK, decide, a moment that your Xoom JAFC (just another computer) and not the last techno-jouet you have (like me).

I am searching Google and typed in "Ford Explorer" (my family needs a ski vehicle, don't ask...) Then click on the link for Ford. Then, try to get the actual vehicle.

What seems to happen is that the Ford's Web site think your Xoom is a phone and the site is unusable. As noted, even Motorola think a Xoom is a phone! Any Hazel signature Android 3.0 and Chrome browser sends to websites Web is obviously useless.

The problem is the chain of SAMU (Android), sent by the browser of the Xoom, many web sites don't recognize the tablets and consider this as a cellphone, not a browser full screen. You can fix this by changing the channel on the "desktop" or I use "iPad", that almost all websites were coded for the full (non-mobile) screen.

Here are the steps to correct the UAS string:

    (1) Goto the browser

    (2) in the URL type: "subject: debug" and press enter

    (3) go on the top right, where there is this icon that looks like 4 horizontal lines stacked, goto settings click

    4) access the debug zone

    5) UAString-click and choose Office

    (6) come out and browse the new web

Another option is to install another browser and adjust the UAS, such as Dolphin HD

  • Amazon Appstore

is - the amazon AppStore anything different from the android market?

    @marctronixx,

Not sure that I agree, being a second thread, the only one I see is on a free 'Angry Birds Rio", which is really not your comments related Amazon store. Of course, the Amazon market isn't only Xoom, but is neither the Android marketplace.

    @geauxduke23,.

Here's my view on the Amazon Appstore, I checked this morning in detail:

    • Just to accept unknown sources to install the Amazon Appstore, then you can turn it back to back. We will install downloads normal applications of confidence, even as the market.
    • The Amazon Appstore occupies 27.37 MB on the Xoom and isn't very fast in 3G, so it can be pull bandwidth (beware, I have not checked this)
    • Many of these applications they sell costs less than the Android market (some were half the price).
    • Amazon will offer an Android (full version) application every day to attract browsing the store
    • When you buy on Amazon Android applications, they will be cue for download the next time you launch the app on your Xoom. This allows you to buy on the web (like the Kindle) and download whenever you want via WiFi
    • You set your device (Xoom in my case) on Amazon and it tells you if each Android application you are looking at is compatible with your device (or not). They also seem to have a lot more details on applications posted on Amazon.

My first impressions were positive, although I will continue to shop around and compare the two market places to see that we have the best deal. After all, competition is a good thing for the consumer, it pushes the low prices and incentives to provide better service. It will be interesting to see if developing societies react differently to the feedback provided through consumer Amazon.

  • Micro SD 32Gb card will not rise...

I just bought a microSD 32 Gb Sandisk class 4 off the coast of dailysteals (same place, I bought my Xoom). I plugged it in and the Xoom does nothing with him. When I plug the Xoom in my laptop via the USB port, computer laptop doesn't see that there will be a memory, microSD. I was previously using a Sandisk 8 Gb microSD has worked well. What the devil?

    Thank you

    Welcome lou407,

It seems to me that your new Micro SDHC card has not yet been formatted in FAT32. We suggest formatting using a PC computer and then plug the Xoom. If you happen to restart your Xoom with inserted memory card, it can get hung up in a "loop" start until you remove the SD card.

This should solve your problem, but please post your results here.
