Antivirus software and malware removers

To correct various performance problems, I saw the various recommendations in the Microsoft Forums to use these tools; frequently in the series ' "(IE, running all three one right after the other):

1 MalWareBytes

2 SuperAntiSpyWare

3. ESET to scan online

I'm curious to know if each of these problems different targets to remove?  Each is adjustable and "run on demand", where the user is running manually as needed rather than they are permanently on?

In addition, must each be removed from the computer before launching the next?

Everything should be used instead of Windows Defender or Microsoft Security Essentials; or Norton software?

Should Defender or Security Essentials be uninstalled before running one of the above three items?  Or can they be temporarily disabled rather than uninstall?

A good collective discussion and description of these tools would be useful

It depends on the operator.

An experienced technician can run Registry Mechanic and I would never advise to stop what doing. Here again, it has NEVER been shown that it significantly improves the performance of a PC. (But certainly not doing other things.)
The problem is when a regular user use it, they run the risk of deletion of a registry critical entity (without realizing it) and eventually create BIG problems.
Programs like Registry Mechanic try to identify the registry keys "orphan" everything. It might even be hundreds of em! And unless someone pays attention, they might very well choose Remove all. Not a good idea. It probably won't cause a problem. But it could still (and did, many threads in this forum attest to that).
Using a program like MBAM to identify the real malware is a story together happily. It targets ONLY the malware. If an autostart for the malicious program is found in a registry key, it MUST be removed!

  • Avast! Writes to the SSD much antivirus software during scan

    Hi guys,.

I have installed avast! Antivirus on my Mac, do not protect my Mac specifically, but to keep it to pass on the Windows malware to other computers or on my Windows partition. When the full analysis of the system, I notice that he reads a lot of data in the player (that I know), but it saves up to 40 GB of data in the SSD at the end of the analysis! I know writing excessively on the SSD can shorten their life (although I tried to calculate its expected service life using my daily writing, and I should have at least another 10 years of use, which is more than enough).

My point being, why is avast! write on the disk so during a scan? Is it caused by a heuristic analysis or something? I don't want to put unnecessary pressure on my SSD, even though I know that Apple SSD are generally pretty durable.

    Thank you.

Note: Please don't give me a conference on the installation of antivirus software on Mac - I know that this is not strictly necessary but I explain why I use it at the beginning of my post.

Your windows contacts can take care of themselves. He has no need of you to your Mac protecting wear.

  • Security Center does not recognize installed AntiVirus software

I tried to update my Roxio Roxio 2009 2007 but I have an error message and so I removed the installation 2009 and re-installed my 2007 edition.

When I removed Roxio 2009 I was correctly or incorrectly advised to remove all references to the "Roxio" in the registry.

I put "Roxio" in the box search of Regedit and deleted all references to Roxio then maybe that is what caused my problem.

In addition to this, I have only 1 point of restoration and it is after I re-installed Roxio 2007 after using the cleaning and the points of additional backup option.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

What a fool one program is Roxio for not being able to uninstall their own stuff more graciously.  I read their directions.

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, MSE, Comodo, etc..

If you have used the XP cleaning and told to delete everything except your last restore Point, she did what you say, which leaves you with a RP.  What do you think thre certain shortcomings here?  It seems that it works perfectly.

There might still some AV programs that XP doesn't recognize not and are there is a difference between antivirus and software malware removal tools.  If you are 100% sure you have something useful installed and XP does not detect it as an AV program and complain about this, you can tell XP not not to warn you of this condition.

To do this, click Start, settings, Control Panel, Security Center, and then click the link that reads:

Change the way security centers alerts me

Things together the way you want to and you will not be disturbed by these messages again.  The risk is, you are disabling/undo built in the protection mechanism.  I have nothing of any AV software (on purpose - I look forward to infections), so I have my disabled notification but maybe this isn't a good idea for everyone.

Some malicious programs, analysis of the programs (such as MBAM) will report this setting (unless there is an infection) and offer to fix it for you because he thinks it might be an affliction.

When you have the time, I recommend that do you this too:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The scans by operating clean, then to solve any problems.

  • Each exe file I open me gives a "corrupted file... run chkdsk', but the analysis of virus and malware are clean?

    Hello

I'm completely puzzled here. When I started my computer today I got a notification saying one of the start-up programs exe file has been corrupted. I think that "uhoh". Then my antvirus software is dΘmarre with the same and I get the notification that I'm not running and antivirus. Then I realize counts all exe files I click gives me the error "file is corrupted... Please run chkdsk" appear in the taskbar. At this point, I am thinking virus or malware.

Some programs still work even with the corrupted message, but every exe, whether old or newly downloaded, will give me this corrupt message. Also, when I tried to reinstall my anti-virus, he wouldn't. (I'm under Avast Internet Security Pro).

I found myself downloading AVG free and for some reason any that exe is not being corrupt. So I at least have a running antivirus software now.

I scanned my whole system with AVG with the latest virus definitions, and it sees no virus. I run only Malwarebytes with the latest updates... nothing there either.

Is my computer clean? For me this seems unlikely, but there is something that is not a virus or malicious software that could cause this?

Also, I started in safe mode, and it makes exactly the same thing. Each exe is corrupt when I open it.

I am all of these ideas, except to the reformat.

    Thank you

    Mike

I don't see you mention on running "chkdsk".

The screen will say something like cannot do it now, but you want to run it on reboot. Click on 'y' as in Yes > press > window cmd of output.

Restart your computer. It will take a while. DO NOT stop the machine. Just wait.

  • How to remove a virus if your antivirus software does not identify it?

I'm not dealing with this problem, but I want to just develop my abilities if in fact I this meeting at a later date.  So, how would someone go about removing a virus if they had run programs such as the anti-virus scanning, scan malwarebytes, windows defender and removal of malware without identification tool.

Thanks to all those who respond.

AntiVirus software contain something detecting threats based on their behavior. If an unknown application trying to damage your system such as unknown viruses, so they detect it by his actions and put in quarantine and then sends a report to the Malware Research Center and there they will check the file Virus to see if it is a Virus or not, if it is then they will apply tools of abduction during the update and if it's NOT virus they patch update in order to release it.

In some cases of Virus may not detect at all, in this case you must contact the anti-virus company support team and ask them for help and they will help you and guide you what you should do.

Almost all anti-virus companies have a way as form or e-mail you can submit samples of the Virus that can not detect by they anti-virus and they will analyze samples and give updated based on analyze.

For Microsoft, you could provide a sample to:

    https://www.Microsoft.com/security/portal/submission/submit.aspx

I recommend you who still do not know the support link or by phone of your anti-virus (anti-virus company) that you have.

    Hello

See the message next to get recommendations on antivirus programs and spyware.

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be more difficult to detect as the
    cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.
