  I bought my Toshiba laptop at the beginning of October 2011, so it can be called to a 'new' laptop.
  It's a Satellite P770.

  I took the 30 day trial free McAfee immediately after purchase and have not renewed since. After the purchase, I had also installed Ad-Aware, Spybot S & D and AVG to take care of the protection on a daily basis. Everything worked well until earlier this week, when it asked me to update my Ad-Aware to the latest version, and since the computer was slow morbid, each program invariably always end up with "is not responding.

  My browser (Google Chrome) gets as much as my homepage, but I can't connect to any site. I tried to uninstall Ad-Aware (I thought that this must be the problem), but it won't let me. I've heard about the incompatibility of some anti virus McAfee, this could be one of them?

  If there is incompatibility between Ad-Aware and McAfee, surely it does not explain the painful speed of my laptop and its lack of reaction. This is something I can only imagine is a virus.

  Could I please have a help on this?

  My warranty would cover such a problem if I returned my Toshiba Toshiba for that particular difficulty?

  Of way General Toshiba has nothing to do with your problem. If you use the combination of different applications and now, you are not happy with the computers portable performance contact software manufacturers and their management of aid.

  What everyone here can say, and even you will hear from Toshiba, is that you must reinstall the Toshiba recovery image and start using the laptop with factory again. I put t understand why do you use McAffe and AVG at the same time.

  Either use preinstalled McAffe or remove it from the system and install other applications antvirus. I recommend http://www.avira.com/en/index. I use it for years and she is really good antivirus application.

  I recently rebooted my laptop from the Toshiba recovery disc after problems with laptop computer slowing down to a snails pace trying to do something about it

  Even after that the laptop has been completely restored and with no other loads other than those originally installed pre programs I'm still encountering problems with a very slow response to almost anything

  I checked the memory & hard drive and there is no reported problems

  Problem is that after the installation of clean operating system the first thing that happens after that connection to the internet is Windows Update download and updates installation.
  By default, it is set to automatic and all that is in the background and runs automatically.
  Change the settings for Windows update.

  Another thing is that lots of preinstalled things starting with OS and it slows down start-up s to laptop. Disable auto-start for all unnecessary applications and what you can do is to remove all those that you don't need. Simply delete them from the system.

  One important thing that may be responsible for the slow response to laptop is also pre-installed antvirus application. In the past I see it on my computer so I removed original McAfee preinstalled and installed free Avira antivir.

  There are therefore several steps that you can do to help your laptop to start much more quickly and of course a little fast.

  I just erased the hard drive and reinstalled all CD recovery disc. The only additional software that I installed is windows office 2010.

  I have read other discussions on the fan and changed the setting to colling under voltage of the battery and I've updated the BIOS. I don't think I have the recognition of the fingerprint software installed only face.

  However fan works always very very fast all the time. Processor, which is an i3 2310 @2. 10 GHz, around 30% and 50% of RAM is bieng used approximately 2.04 GB.

  IEXPLORER uses more CPU and RAM to all about 02-05 looking at the Task Manager and about 482 000 K memory. I have 92 processes. System Monitor is running the most discussion, 145 under resources. I don't know what this means, but the blue line on the chart of the CPU in the resource manager is always upward at 100% outside the odd dip to 95%.

  Anyone with any ideas or solutions, it would be much appreciated!

  It is a known issue with McAffe. Remove this preinstalled trial version will reduce CPU activity and automatically cooling fan runs much quieter. I put t know what antvirus you use now but with Avira antivir, you'll be happy.

• Satellite A200 - shortcut keys do not work

  I have a Satellite A200 and I discovered that my keyboard shortcuts have stopped working or to be more precise, they work while the computer loads but then they stop working.
  I think there must be a software conflict, but I don't know where to start the search.
  When the problem arises, I have the following programs running:

  AVG antvirus (in the background).
  AD-Aware (in the background).
  Instant Messaging (in the background) that I closed it but this makes no difference.
  Toshiba Tempro (in the background).

  I've looked in Task Manager and found a lot of other programs running which I have no idea what they are doing and so I don't dare stop them.

  Any suggestions?

  May I ask what OS are you using?
  Are you still with Vista?

  Do you mean with hotkeys FN keys or the Toshiba control buttons like pause, play forward, etc.

  I have an A210. It s similar to A200.
  In order to get the FN buttons work, you need to reinstall the Flash Cards Support utility.
  But if you want to get the Toshiba control buttons to knit then you must reinstall the VAP (value pack).

  Firewall turned and AntVirus OFF, ran the executable with administrative privileges - he says he finds the printer and I see a progress bar and also the smiley at the end. But the printer is impressed and shows just "Ready" on the LCD screen, nothing has changed: files does simply nothing.

  Tried via IP Port as well as USB on another PC, same effect.

  What's not?

  Where are the good old. RFU file that I just can TFTP at the printer...?

  OK, I solved it: the HP printer driver installed you need to update the firmware with the HP tool.

  Inbox drivers using windows will not allow the tool to work.

  As soon as I installed the HP Universal print driver I got it to work.

  Would be easy for the firmware tool check, if 1) it comes to the printer 2) the sine qua non of a HP driver installed is given.

  Unfortunately the tool simply sends the one-way firmware to a device.

• HP EliteBook 8440p: video playback problem

  I have a problem with the video playback. Video train after a few minutes and processing speed goes to 100% using 2 GB of ram at this time. I disabled some startup programs still no luck.   I'm completely puzzled here. When I started my computer today I got a notification saying one of the start-up programs exe file has been corrupted. I think that "uhoh". Then my antvirus software is dΘmarre with the same and I get the notification that I'm not running and antivirus. Then I realize counts all exe files I click gives me the error "file is corrupted... Please run chkdsk" appear in the taskbar. At this point, I am thinking virus or malware.

  Some programs still work even with the corrupted message, but every exe, whether old or newly downloaded, will give me this corrupt message. Also, when I tried to reinstall my anti-virus, he wouldn't. (I'm under Avast Internet Security Pro).

  I found myself downloading AVG free and for some reason any that exe is not being corrupt. So I at least have a running antivirus software now.

  I scanned my whole system with AVG with the latest virus definitions, and it sees no virus. I run only Malwarebytes with the latest updates... nothing there either.

  Is my computer clean? For me this seems unlikely, but there is something that is not a virus or malicious software that could cause this?

  Also, I started in safe mode, and it makes exactly the same thing. Each exe is corrupt when I open it.

  I am all of these ideas, except to the reformat.

  I don't see you mention on running "chkdsk".
  So, do you?

  How to run the check disk (chkdsk)... assuming you are using Vista

  Start button > Search box, type cmd > look up, right-click on cmd.exe > Run As Administrator >

  in the black and white window, at the command prompt flashes, type chkdsk/f/r > press the Enter key.
  Note: there is a space between 'chkdsk' and ' / '.
  The screen will say something like cannot do it now, but you want to run it on reboot. Click on 'y' as in Yes > press > window cmd of output.
   
  Restart your computer. It will take a while. DO NOT stop the machine. Just wait.

  I changed my password for the admin user, but I forgot my new password. On the system to reset password, the system will ask a restore/reset disk. How to get such a disc or can a Microsoft rep this remote on my system. I'm the only admin user and it has only 1 admin account. I tried to restore my system, but there as no restore only files available. I'm deseparately who need to access my account on. My antivirus has expires and I can't update without being able to get on the admin account.  I can get into my daughter's account, but there are parental restrictions that without the admin password, I can't work around.   Considered to be malware: please proceed with thorough and intense scrutiny for malware and if the
  rest error message again the next message will show how to remove it.

  If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
  scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
  resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be more difficult to detect as the
  cause.

  No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
  to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
  its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
  extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.

  It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run
  the regular windows when you can.

  Why do you "need to be convinced? I don't consider my work to convince them that nothing, but I don't mind give you my opinion. Most of the technicians that I know and I did not recommend Norton for many years. The last good version was 2003 Norton Antvirus and it was 7 years ago. IMO the only security solution worse than Norton's McAfee. Bloated, invasive and ineffective. I recommend NOD32 (commercial) or Avast, Avira or MS Security Essentials if you want something for free instead. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
