Any equipment option in the start menu on Tecra A8

I have a new Tecra A8 which is awesome. I have a docking station for which I have connected to a screen more grand, printer and al. What I don't have is a fitting option in my Start menu. I log off and closed, but no way to disconnect without shutting down my system. When I place the laptop in docking station I have to reset my graphics options every time which is a little annoying. Are there any drivers or anything else I need to download?

Thank you.

Hello John

Nice to hear that Tecra A8 is awesome! I use Tecra laptops for my business and I think Tecra A8 will be my next unit.

Back to your question: I hope you use your Tecra with last AdvPortRepIII +. Each Toshiba laptop with a capacity preinstalled tool called Toshiba Mobile Extension (I also on my older Tecra M2). When the laptop is on docking station near Log off and closed the buttons, there should be also Undock button of the computer that allows hot or warm connection and optional docking device disconnection.

Please check in Control Panel if you can find Toshiba Mobile Extension tool. The same shortcut, you can also find in Toshiba Assist Utility tab OPTIMIZES. This utility allows you to select which device to default view that you want to use when Tecra is docked.

As I said Toshiba Mobile Extension must be preinstalled. Do you use factory settings or your own installation of the OS?

Good bye

When I use to close before that I would have the standby key who showed during updates would be installed before the computer turns off. This has disappeared and now I only have a lock icon and the arrow which only gives me the option to log on to the wide or lock. all other options have disappeared for some reason that I'm not able to choose to change username, stop hibernate sleep etc.

If none of these things happen, you can of course run the System File Checker and try safe mode if you want to, but I don't see where these ideas have something to do with your problem or you describe symptoms compatible with a need of either.

  • Question on the start menu

    Hello

I just hope someone can explain source of default icons on the start menu in windows 7. NOT all PROGRAMS MENU but just START :-)

I know that I can pin itmes him etc... purpose what I wondered, is how windows know which items to always be listed as soon as a user clicks start. Do not start and then all programs. I know that to get something else listed in the start menu, all programs, all I have to do is add the item in the menu c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\start but this isn't what I want. I want to use to display a specific item by simply clicking Start.

From now for all users when they click Start they see magnifying glass, paint, fax, scan, reminder, connect you to a projector and started my is so... where question not windows this information from and how do I add to it for all users and not only one. I know how to do for a single individual.

    Thank you.

Unfortunately, it's only for an individual options on the start menu. I tried to see if the same options exist somewhere else to affect all users, but to no avail.

I think I have to be stuck with the update in the directory that I listed above and they will have to click on start, all programs instead of just starting.

But more ideas are appreciated :-)

  • The option change username isn't appearing any more in the start menu

Hello, I have Vista Home Premium 64-bit. After several months of normal use, the option change user (fast user switching) has disappeared from the start menu. Why he's missing out, and more importantly: is there a way to restore this feature? I'm not aware of any change in my system. Thank you.

    Hello Rami,

I think that your answer should have worked but... I solved the problem already yesterday! The solution was restore the system to a previous restore point, but these, like last month, when the rapid change of user feature still worked. It took me a few minutes to do and my data were unchanged.
It seems that the problem came from one of the Microsoft updates. I got the system configured for automatic updates and these are quite common. I have now disabled the automatic update option as the system is stable as is.

Thanks a lot for your help.

If system restore is turned on and you can go back enough, restore the computer to an earlier date using Safe Mode.

Restart the computer and start typing the key F8, select Safe mode with command option. If you are prompted to select an operating system, use the arrow keys to select the right pair and press ENTER. Log in as administrator or with an account that has administrator credentials. At the command prompt, type % systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER. Follow the prompts to restore your computer to an earlier date.

  • Windows Live Mail does not present as an option for default programs or in the Start Menu.

Something happened this week. I can't identify enough exactly when so I can't say with certainty whether or not it is the new update of 2011.

I use Windows Live Mail (desktop application) for the mail. It is installed and since I built the machine first. I've recently updated for 2011 through Windows Update. In the Start Menu, the default e-mail link no longer works. If I go to customize, I have the options of Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, and Outlook. If I select Windows Live Mail, it launches a web browser to go to live.com and use Hotmail (which I don't use).

Now, if I choose Windows Mail, and then re - open Windows Live Mail manually, I can set it by default. In this case, when I go back into the Start Menu, the link is there but empty and you get a message that "the selected item is not available. It might have been moved, renamed, or deleted. You want to remove from the list? "I can't get around that. Under "Default programs" in the Control Panel, Windows Live Mail is not yet there. It's as if she is not yet installed, and whatever the shortcut points to (wherever it may be) is apparently nothing. In the registry, under HKLM/Software/customers/Mail, there is no key for 'DLLPath' and "LocalizedString" as there are other programs.

I must point out that repair installation does not help and neither does file and reinstalling.

I managed to solve the problem.  I received an email from another user and I'm sorry to say, I do not remember what were the instructions in the email.  The answer to (y) our problem used to exist on the web, until Microsoft has removed the old answers live site, or something like that.

IIRC, I believe that it was fixing the misdirected registry keys.

  • When I right click the tab recent items on the start menu, the option to clear recent does not appear.

    How can I restore it?

    Hello

This occurs if the file desktop.ini in the recent folder is deleted.

    a. Click Start, type "% AppData%\Microsoft\Windows" and press {ENTER}

    b. right click on the folder named recent, then choose Delete. Click Yes when you are prompted.

    c. now, type the command "shell: recent" in the start - menu search box, and then press {ENTER}.

Note: The command above recreates the recent folder, as well as a new desktop.ini file and opens the file.

    d. disconnect and return connection. You should now see the context menu list of recent items clear when you right click on the recent items on the start menu folder.

I recently downloaded Secure browser review for a test in Spanish for a class.  I uninstalled the program successfully, however I still can't access my Manager tasks, Shut Down, restart, sleep and Hibernate options went on the Start Menu.  Finally, before taking the test, my computer is always locked.  This means that whenever he 'slept' that I have to enter a password or use my HP SimplePass of fingerprint to unlock.  Now, it does not require a password, or it is not locked.

  • MS word offers the option of Microsoft Word 2010 (2) in the list of the start menu

Original title: program registration under Start button

Today, when I was looking for a program that is displayed when I select the Start button, I noticed that the number 2 see the next to registration for Microsoft Word 2010.  It looks now like this: Microsoft Word 2010 (2)

I don't think it was like that the other day when I finally used Word.  Any ideas on why it would start that looks like this?  I made no changes to my computer.

I use Microsoft 7 Home Premium.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Debba,.

-You have two entries in the start menu for Microsoft Word? One is Microsoft Windows Word 2010 (2) and the other is Microsoft Word 2010 Microsoft Office on the start menu?

-Is this Microsoft Word 2010 (2) successfully opened?

-This happens to you with other programs in the list?

If there are two icons for Microsoft Word 2010 on the Start menu, remove the icon of Windows of Microsoft Word 2010 (2).

All you have to do is click on Microsoft Word 2010 (2) and click on remove from this list.

This seems to be only a Microsoft Word 2010 shortcut added to the list of the start menu.

Hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let us know.

  • In Windows 7, don't right click on programs in the Start Menu gives no option.

I just installed Windows 7 on my new PC.

I want to be able to right click on the programs located in the Start Menu and different options available.  Now, if I click on a program listed in the Start Menu I get nothing ~ no menu appears.

As a result, some of the things that I can't do are (1) pins a program in the Start Menu, pin (2) a program to the taskbar and (3) run a program as an administrator.

If I right click on the same program located in "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Programs".

the right click menu is displayed and I can do all the functions that must be available by right clicking on the version of the program in the Start Menu.

How do the right click on the programs located in the Start Menu works correctly?
