missing to stop options from the start menu
Can someone please tell me how to get all the options on the start menu to close it has changed over the past week and shows just the icon arrow where I can choose only log off or lock and locking. to stop, I have to wait for th computer to disconnect and then when the screen saver appears click on the close button.
When I use to close before that I would have the standby key who showed during updates would be installed before the computer turns off. This has disappeared and now I only have a lock icon and the arrow which only gives me the option to log on to the wide or lock. all other options have disappeared for some reason that I'm not able to choose to change username, stop hibernate sleep etc.
How can I get all the options back a place hostel instead of having to wait for the newspaper off the power, then clicking on stop because I forget to close it because I think it is soing it automatically?

Programs Windows missing from the Start Menu
All my Windows programs have disappeared from the start menu. I was playing with the option hidden files on some of my shirts. I followed the suggestions of another post on changing the property of my programs to uncheck hidden and which did not help. Any suggestions?
Restore point:
http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/
Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.
Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.
Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.
See you soon.

"Clear recent items list" is no longer an option in the start menu
I have re-installed Windows Vista Business, all installed updates, and then installed Windows Security Essentials, then ParetoLogic PC Health Advisor.
After you have installed the last two programs mentioned, I then noticed that the 'clear recent items list' is no longer an option in the start menu when I right click on the recent items. I have this problem once or twice using the restoration of the system, but after that I installed Adobe Reader X option disappeared permanently in the start menu. When I right click on the recent items on the start menu I get the following

Open in Notepad in OneNote
Scan with Microsoft Security Essentials...

I just applied SP1. Until I applied this update that everything worked as I expected.
Since then, whenever I type anything in the search on the start menu, there is no result. The only exception to this is that if I type in a full path, for example "C:\Program Files\", how I get a list of files in that directory. If I type in everything that is not a path, as for example the letter p or the word 'paint', told me that "no element not corresponding to your research."If I click 'more results', I get an error with a big red x box. The legend is "search query: = paint", for example if I searched for painting. The text is "Windows cannot find ': search query = painting '.» Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. "I wasn't expecting this error box, but rather a window with a list of search results.I have downloaded and run the troubleshooter of research - Mats_Run.search.exe. It tells me that no errors have been detected and gave me the option to reset the search. I did this, then waited a whole day to search for re - index, but the results are the same.In addition, after reading a few other questions on the microsoft Web site, I've done different things which seem to as they should not work - I have turned me folder, active random registry settings options, etc.. Indeed, none of these things had an impact or shows something unusual. Also, I can access is no longer my home directory from the start menu. If I click on my user name that appears in the upper right corner of the menu start, the start menu closes and nothing happens. There are a few other circumstances where I can't reach my directory. For example, if I have an Explorer pointed toward a library, say "Downloads", if I click on my user name in the breadcrumb path, he will remain in the directory downloads instead of going to my home folder, as I expect. Also, if I click on my user name in the Favorites list in the left pane of the Explorer, I would expect the Explorer window to access my home folder. Instead, he remains in the folder where he currently resides. As I said earlier, before applying the update it worked as expected. Thanks a lot for your time!Hello
Turn off or uncheck search in Windows Control Panel and restart the computer.
After the computer restarts, place a check for Windows Search and restart the computer. Then find the issue.

lost all my programs from the start menu, a
lost all my programs from the start menu, favorites as all my photos and docs. Can I get them back thanks for any help,
What did you do last before this happened?
It looks like someone may have maliciously tampered with your computer.
Take a look in your trash and see what you can find.
If they are not there, try to download and run this program:
http://download.CNET.com/Recuva/3000-2242_4-10753287.html
He'll pick up things that have been deleted from the Recycle Bin.
Be forewarned, it will probably work for a long time.
Hope this helps

Cannot remove a program from the start menu icon
Original title: icons in the Start Menu;. Cannot delete the program start menu icon to remove/uninstall, need help?
S pie Menu icons; Ghost of icons
I deleted a program and uninstalled completely, but the program icon always appears in the start menu. I was not able to remove the icon. Right-clicking on the icon simply freezes the start menu for several minutes. I was able to remove from the desktop.
I tried the Program Data > Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > programs > but the icon.
I had this problem before, but I just do not remember how I fixed it. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Kevin, thanks for responding.
The program was the Vuze, and I managed to get rid of the icon. By a right click and do not move the mouse and wait 5 minutes eventualy box popped up and I was able to remove the icon from the start menu.
The solution was a lot of patience.
Please help us well!
:)p.s. I ran various software cleaning, like glary utilities, ccleaner and reboot several times.

options missing from the start menu in the game of 4 elements
When I get timed out at level 3 of the game, a window opens stating I can go to 'options' in the menu start and change fashion casual., except 'options' are not in the start menu. I went to Playrix and Xbox, uninstalled and reinstalled the game and options is still missing in the menu. Xbox gave me a toll-free number to use, but I thought I'd try first online help.
Not sure why a program error would be referred to Xbox. It's something that was missing in the way of original game when it was out. This is not a conversion to windows games problem. Options disappeared forever...

Post-it Note, Snipping Tool, Sound Recorder etc missing from the Start Menu
Some integrated programs have suddenly disappeared in the folder 'Accessories' in the Start Menu, including sticky notes, Snipping Tool, Sound Recorder, and record Tablet PC Tools was empty too and maybe even more than programs that I do not know. (I don't know why this happened, the only reason why I can think of is maybe I fell a development of my antivirus program).
I looked online for solutions, I tried:
-Option unchecking and rechecked the "Tablet PC Tools' of the 'Turn Windows has or not', which bought only the programs in the Tablet PC Tools in the Start Menu folder, but not the Post-it Notes and other
-Restore to an earlier point, but did not work
-Enter sfc/scannow in the command prompt but it has said is that Windows has no problems of integrity or something after scanning and solves nothing
The programs are always there, I found 3 of them in C:/Windows/System32 as exe files and they work from there, but they just will not be displayed in the Start Menu or when I do a search. I don't know what else is missing. Is it possible to bring them back in the start menu? Would be fixed it with a factory reset? - but I don't really want to do a factory reset, unless I am out of options.
Help would be much appreciated!
A factory reset would, but that's certainly an exaggeration just to restore shortcuts.
