• Using a single server for Multiple Instances of the APEX HTTP

  Our company DBA asked if it would be possible to outsource the server part of HTTP of APEX from DB servers. In other words, it would be highly preferable as DB servers * only * start the Oracle database software.

  We know that we can install the HTTP server on another box, but in thinking how to that, we were wondering if it's really necessary to create a separate HTTP Server installation for each instance of the APEX. What we would really like to do, is have a HTTP server for all our our boxes of Dev and several (but not one) for each of our superior environments; implementation stage, qa, prod, etc..

  Right now, each instance has a file single dads.conf on every box of DB. So, if we we to try to consolidate, we need some way to incorporate several dads files and associate each correct instance.

  Someone has already done this or (preferably) to have some examples?

  Yes, you can consolidate permanently. It is a common practice that was also available with Apache/mod_plsql, OSH and now with APEX earphone 2.

• OSH Service 12.1

  I'm experimenting with the OHS on Windows standalone and installed Oracle download site fmw_12.1.3.0.0_ohs_win64_Disk1_1of1.

  It seems to work very well.  I am able to start and stop the SST with via the command line: startComponent.cmd ohs1

  V9 from a service partner to start/stop apache.  V12, he looks there is no?  Otherwise, what is the recommended way to OSH to automatic startup to start the computer and to bounce apache?

  I ran installNodeMgrSvc.cmd who created a service called "Oracle Weblogic NodeManager base_domian".  Turn this switch does not affect apache.

  For other projects, I used 3rd party tools to create services that runs a .bat file, such as: http://nssm.cc before you go this route, I wanted to check if I missed something or if OHS is incorrectly installed.  Any help or recommendations are appreciated.

  Just in case someone might also need the answer, I opened a case of pension to double check my conclusions:

  -for the moment 12 c SST is not a service to start/stop apache

  -He is listed as a bug by oracle

  -You can start and stop using a batch file

  I decided to wait for bug fix and I also expect that the new version of 12 c.

  I spent a few minutes experimenting with creating a service with: http://nssm.cc , this tool will create a service and it seems fine.  The tool expects a process running continuously so it can detect if the process is still running and restart.

  So to use this tool, you would just need to create a bat file that:

  1 start the OSH

  2. enter in an endless loop

  3. in the loop, check if the SST is still ongoing (probably via a http get or something)

  4. If it is running, stop the loop and exit the bat file

  -the script must also respond to a stop command, so

  5 catch ctrl-c, and when detected, stop OSH then quit the .bat script.

  It is likely to be SST. Standard Apache does not include the module mod_plsql necessary for the performance of the APEX. (Or you might have standard Apache as a proxy reverse editing EPG.)

  The APEX is a database free of charge option. A limited use license is included with each edition (except XE) database to run the OHS on the same server. See + {message identifier: = 9256804} +.

  If there is any performance issues with a set - up of OSH, moving to the EPG is certainly not the answer. Clarify the position with the DBA.

  Oracle HTTP Server is the wrapper for an Oracle for Apache 2.2. The reason for its there for you can use modules specifically developed by Oracle.

• Generic Apache, WebLogic Server plugin 1.1 + forms + reports

  We are planning an HA configuration for application forms-States. Environments should be divided between two VLAN (FrontEnd and BackEnd)
  VLAN FE contains the Web (Apache WebCache) layer
  BE WHAT VLAN contains WLS Server + forms and reports.
  
  The closest match to this configuration, I found in a document

  In this installation/configuration, step by step, we use Web Tier utilities bundle at the front.
  I assume that the combination of support is OHS + mod_wl_ohs.
  
  Could we replace the Web Tier utilities bundle with a generic combination Apache + mod_wl (WebLogic Server plugin 1.1).
  
  The idea is
  
  --> Ssl--> [restrict] ssl-> 2 or more [generic Apache + WebLogic Server plugin 1.1] - > | Firewall | -> 8 x [WLS + forms + reports]
  
  Platform is RedHat Linux 64 bit, SW of Oracle all the newer versions.
  
  Would it be an alternative care?

  You can do so using the WLS Plugins 1.1, like mod_wl (for generic apache) and mod_wl_ohs (for OHS 11 g) is the same.

  He prefers to use the server of HTTP Oracle 11 g with mod_wl_ohs because it is tested it in combination with other Fusion Middleware products, such as forms and reports. If you use a generic Apache, there are verses differences Oracle HTTP Server. It would be easier to configure and manage the OSH/mod_wl_ohs compatible together. For example, use of a configuration console and all two are updated with 11.1.1.x patchsets. If there is a problem specific to Apache (but not mod_wl), then Oracle can also address this question more easily if the OHS/mod_wl_ohs. Currently, there are no problems known between the two, but I'm not aware of a lot of generic customers using Apache as well as Fusion Middleware products.

• I can't get Apache configured correctly El Capitan

  Hi, I'm new to the Forum and coding on a mac os x. I am actually starting to code in PHP and have gone through several guides to configure apache2 so that I can access my 'Sites' directory via my web browser. I followed several guides configuration to configure my system but after making changes to several files (httpd.conf, etc..) I always get the message unable to connect to access my localhost via browser.

  No matter what I do when I try to access my local host via the browser web it says unable to connect. I recently upgraded from the Mavericks in El Capitan 10.11.6. I have no idea where from here, can someone please point me in the right direction on how to configure Apache so that I have access to my localhost directory and start the programming in php.

  Hello. I find a strange behavior of Firefox v21. If the 'windows' path used *.htm file slashes to the java scripts (on Unix, hosting with apache). Firefox says 404, but other browsers (such as Opera, Chrome, IE10) works properly with this.

  You should use slashes in links so that they work properly in Firefox, otherwise Firefox will escape them that 5% C as you can see if you would them hover in the case of a real link (this is obviously not possible in this case).

• OSX Apache Server: how to redirect the http request?

  I have a Mini Mac OSX Server El Capitan running. It already serves some sites. Normal Server Web sites:

  -site1.example.com

  -site2.example.com

  Now, I have installed an application that has its own built-in web server. This application would be normally accessible via http on port 80. However, http on port 80 connections are automatically considered trapped by integrated apache of the OSX Server. Therefore, I now put the web application to run in a different port to apache. I also setup a subdomain, so that users can access this application directly, but they also have to type in the port in the URL - for example, the new web app site is reachable at the:

  -myapp.example.com:7117

  What I would do, is for users to simply access the application using:

  -monappli.exemple.com

  I know that there is a way for us to have apache to "Reroute" all requests for a specific to an internal port subdomain automatically, but I don't even know where to start. What are the files we need to configure on OSX Server? How configure us them?

  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  I had the same requirement and has resolved the way you want to as described below.

  1. Define the additional app to run on another port
  2. Create a site in.app using port 80 and the same host name you want to use for the additional application
  3. Set up a redirection for this site in.app as follows
  4. Source = /, Destination = http://hostname.domain.com:1234 /, Status = Permanent (301)

  Of course, use the correct host name, the domain and port for your situation.

  PS. the same approach I have described above also can be used to redirect the corresponding https port 80 or 443 site.
