Appeal of scam of the person who claims to be from Microsoft

I just got a phone call from a foreign-sounding man, claiming he was from Microsoft and that if I did not comply with certain procedures on my keyboard, I drop windows 7 within a period of days.

To start I found it very difficult to understand and secondly a little suspicious to receive a phone call... (How many phone calls that would take to all windows clients) 7

I asked the phone and a few seconds later, he called again.

I keep my updates of microsoft... to this day and all my other accounts etc.

If someone can advise. Thank you.

Hello

It's a scam.

Continue hanging up on them if they ring again AFTER that you told them that you contact law enforcement on their subject

And Microsoft does not contact you unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do.

Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

What to do if you gave them remote access.

If you gave them remote access and you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords.

If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.

And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Microsoft does not contact you unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do.

There is an article in the link I'm you provide at the end of this one

Microsoft does not phone calls to people - out of the blue...

at best, microsoft only responds to requests for information made by the people.

Try running a system restore point on a date prior to the boot problem.

  • I have to get someone who claims to be from Microsoft

Hello and thank you in advance for your answers.

I get phone calls from a person claiming to be from Microsoft. They want to inform me that my computer is infected by a visrus and I need to do something for them.

They call a '7' caller ID and said that their name is Jack Thompson of the section of technical support from Microsoft. The callback number is 302-721-5254. Mr. Thompson is not a common name with people that the voice has a strong accent associated with a person of the India.

I've learned in the past that it is an appeal from the scam and what they are looking for is someone to use or to hack computer.

This is the case and if he who report these people?

Yes, it's a scam and that is becoming more and more common lately.
    Just hang up on them.

In addition to their money get on your part to do anything of any value,
If you leave them in your computer, which knows what losses they did are
    where confidential information they stole.

So if you have done so, I highly recommend that you do both of the following
    immediately:

1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.
    2. change all of your passwords, especially banks or other
    financial sites.

There is no one to report to. Everyone who wants to do something
about, he already knows about it, but the judgment is not easy.

  • I get phone calls from an unknown number who claims to be from Microsoft.

    Original title: phone call

At got a call from person than me- CLAIMED they were from the "Windows Operations" CLAIMED it was their phone number , they said they had a windows WARNING report and called for help.  Who is calling and why?  Is there a way I can see if I have questions about my computer showing the functioning issues?

Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

    Please see:

Microsoft issues never not solicited for phone calls of support or security.

These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.

  • Prefetch unwanted files: call from someone who claims to be from Microsoft

I just had a phone call very similar to some that I read on the forum.

The man was of Indian origin saying his name was Mike Davies of Microsoft in Oxfordshire and our computer had generated error reports that slowed.

He wanted me to RUN a file named prefetch unwanted files, I was a little dubious and told him that I had to pay for my computer and it is supposed to be remembered!

  • Scam: received a call from an Indian guy claiming to be from Microsoft

I just got a call from an Indian guy who claims to be from Microsoft.  When I questioned him ask for a web address and phone number to verify, also told me that they couldn't give me that because of the data protection. The call showed up on my phone as our area, so I was suspicious immediately.  The guy pointed out that whenever we went on the internet/email it was malicious spyware software download and it needed to be sorted.  When I probed more, saying I didn't, he said he was calling for the United Kingdom.  It changed so his tune to say he was calling the part G Tech Support from Microsoft.

I guess it's a scam, but I am very concerned that some people may believe this story!  I see that you have posted questions on your Web site regarding this company and it doesn't seem to be a scam, it is why, could you become aware on your website that it is a scam and place it in a very visible.

    Kind regards.

  • Phone call claiming to be from Microsoft

I also received a phone call from the India that claims to be from Microsoft.  They said that my computer had a bad virus.  I gave them remote access to my computer.  Also the last 6 digits of my registration code.  Now, I think I messed up royally.  I'm in trouble and can someone that I can't access my computer information now?

    Hello

Microsoft never contact you unless you request them

    It's another scam

and there is a very strong possibility that the security of your computer has been compromised as you gave them remote access

If you perform banking operations of the internet etc I suggest you also change passwords etc.

of course, everything is in order, I recommend you to reinstall the operating system for more safety

Here are the different methods to reinstall vista:

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

Save all data, because it will be lost, do the above

I just had a person claiming to be from Microsoft on the phone.  It asked me to enter a code and run it on my computer.  I refused and hung up as I suppose it's a scam!  Has anyone else had such a call?

It seems that there was a rash of these types of calls that flow. DON'T spend any time on the phone with them. It's a big scam and they are phishing for your personal information. DO NOT do anything they say, or give them all vital data.

    Hope this helps,

  • Received a call from someone who claims to come from the support of windows and need help

Hi, I got a call from a guy who claims to be from the windows support team, I thought at first and then later I realized that it is a scam. So I checked on here to make sure and I discovered that he really was. My problem is that they made me download something so they could control my computer and show me how much I etc when I realized the infections I turned off my computer and uninstalled all of their programs, but they have deleted files. I want to ask that will cause problems in the future? and this meen if I buy something online is possible that they can get information?, if yes, what is the best solution?

    - What to do if you think that you were scammed

"If you think that you have responded to a scam with personal or financial information phishing, take these steps to minimize the damage.

    • Change the passwords or pins on all your online accounts that you think could be jeopardized.

    • Place an alert on your credit report fraud. Check with your bank or financial advisor if you are unsure how to proceed.

    • Contact the Bank or online merchant directly. Do not follow the link in the fraudulent e-mail message.

    • If you know all the accounts that have been accessed or opened fraudulently, close those accounts.

    • Regularly check your Bank and credit card statements monthly for unexplained charges or inquiries that you initiate. "

If you want to ensure the security of your system, make sure that you have backed up all personal data you want to preserve all the installation files for the programs or applications that you have installed.
Then format the computer and reinstall Vista.

It's the only way you can be sure that there is no hidden malware present on it after allowing access by a stranger.

Hi, I do not know where to turn: the person who takes care of all the stuff of count is out of town, this friend started Firefox and there was a message about an update, I thoght I again just click on install and wait to re start Firefox. But what I remember is this another open window and asked me to choose 'something' (an icon or banner or?), I thought I have to click on an element (I guess I should read all clearly). Firefox updated to 3.6.4, but it also inserted some sort of what might be called a banner? But it does cover only partially the half right of my 3 toolbars at the top of the Firefox window. It cannot be used to something else because it's just a mess of colors and unknowns, except for what looks like a 'top' and what I recognize as an icon of Firefox (but only partially visible)! Now, what he does, it's partly hide this part all the toolbars and they are difficult to read and to do to turn this 'thing' impossible to understand, if I keep to? I can't find in any case to remove it or use it? But since the icon of Firefox is about it, I think you need to know what it is and how trash. I'm sorry for this accident caused my my inattention, but I'm not much of a computer person - HELP! Thanks for any help. Judi

Click on it (delete button), and he (Persona, this mixture of colors) should disappear instantly.

    This help you?

Before you give, sell, or all the iDevices like Apple computer trading

models, they must be separated with the owner of the user and the owner of the account IDs.

What to do before you sell or give away your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch - Apple Support

So if it had not been made, the original owner has to make.

You may not can someone at Apple store; There may be

other modes of action if the owner has died; only one

Member of the family with legal authority, & documentation

could do in special circumstances. The safety is part of

Everyone has just received a phone call from someone with a foreign accent CLAIMING to be from Microsoft? and they said that I got the virus, ect on my computer and they wanted me to go on the computer and I guess = open a site that would PROBABLY destroy my computer... I told the man twice, that I had no problems and thanked him for the call and HUNG up...

I heard there is a SCAM where someone from another country wants to go to a certain web site current and there wher you download something that ruins your system. I'm not stupid and I quickly hung up.

    Edit: a post later

A few months ago, I gave a comuter the person who owned it died. The window indicates Micrsoft Window XP Professional-HP. My problem is that I do not have access on behalf of users and password. What should I do?

    Hello

Many on this forum suggests that when you "inherit" a PC, you should do a clean install of Windows to delete the unwanted "baggage" that the previous owner has left behind. For example (but not limited to) viruses and criminal and illegal downloads. Such a procedure will reset all the passwords anyway. The PC may have a factory reset mechanism still intact. Visit the manufacturer website for more information, or we do know the number of brand, range and model of your PC for assistance.

If you are using XP Home Edition, the built-in Administrator account probably doesn't have a defined password. You can start in safe mode, where this account will be selectable when connecting. It allows to connect and change the password of any other connection.

To start in safe mode, keep hitting F8 twice a second after turning on the PC until you get the start menu where safe mode is selectable by the up/down arrow keys, and then press ENTER.

If you are using XP Professional, try to connect using the built-in Administrator account. You don't need to do it in safe mode (although you can if you wish). If your normal login screen is a display of the user symbol and hit ctrl-alt-del twice to get to login to text entry. Type administrator as the user name and try a blank password.
