  • The Apple AirPort Express Base Station is a good solution?

I'm moving so leaving the wifi station that Verizon gave me. I think I have the Apple AirPort Express Base Station by station WiFi. I connected an iMac (main computer) MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone.

My main question is how this used for the WiFi base station compares to others on the market.

    Thank you!

    Johnny

The AirPort Express has limited the ability of speed due to its slow and limited capacity wireless Ethernet port due to its very small built in WiFi antennas.

However, if the plan of your new Internet Service Provider (ISP) is limited to about 50 Mbit/s, then the Express would probably be OK if most wireless devices will be located near the AirPort Express Terminal.

If the budget allows, an AirPort Extreme is a much better product... up to 10 times the speed of the Express... with additional WiFi antennas located just above the 'tour' to improve performance.

If your new ISP plan is 100 Mbps or higher, then AirPort Extreme would be a better match.

If you are considering other routers from other manufacturers... we cannot comment at all on their performance without knowing the number of brand and model of the device you are considering.

  • Purchase of 3rd Apple Airport Extreme Base Station

My current 2 Apple Airport Extreme Base Stations (the two 5th generation) are implemented as shown in the screenshot below.

My fiber service (80 MB/s) is hard directly on an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station plugged into my home office (via an Ethernet cable that connects from the box of fiber on the outside wall of my house to this AE).

While AE is hard wired to a 2nd AE in a separate building in my back yard (via an underground conduit of PVC).

Wired connection that's not a separate Ethernet cable.

Instead, my provider of fiber spliced in an existing telephone cable that already existed.

Currently hard connected directly to that 2nd AE in the building separated (via Ethernet cable) are the following:

    My Dell Precision Tower 5810

    My Canon imageCLASS MF6160dw (all-in-one)

Printer color of my Epson Stylus Pro WF-5190

    (Suite after screenshot)

I am replacing a very old 30 "TV Sony with a 60" LED Smart TV & want to run an Ethernet cable from the AE 1st in my home office to the living room where will be the TV.

My intention is to add a Roku at the same place than television.

In addition, I want to increase my wifi signal in the room.

I know that the Express is 1/2 the cost of the extreme, but will most likely go to the extreme. - If the extreme will give me faster speeds for my Roku and TV.  In addition, I like to have the additional ports available if I ever sign anything else.

My fiber Service is 80 MB/s Up & Down, but I regularly receive about 96 +.

80 MB/s is no longer offered by my supplier of fiber, but I'm grandfathered in.

The available speeds are now 45 (?) with the speed of 100 Mbps.

I think I'm really on 100 Mbps service.

    QUESTIONS :

The 2nd AE has been "extended" EI from 1.

Just as "extend" the 3rd AE?

For speed best / highest in the living room, the most recent AE should be in the living room next to the TV & the Roku, or he would replace the 1st AE who is in my home office since it is one that is connected directly to the box of fiber on the outside wall of my house?

Other recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, either by connecting to the extreme 1... recommended, if possible... .or extreme 2nd... If it is not convenient to connect to the 1st.

Locate the extreme new... which has a much better arrangement... wireless antenna where it provide the most benefits to nearby wireless devices.

Otherwise, you might want to consider renaming your airports, because the current device names far exceed the recommended length name a 26 characters max, including spaces. Keep the name short and simple wireless network as well... and to avoid special characters in the name... as an apostrophe, a sign dollar, asterisk, etc..

  • Why is the signal to my airport express base station weaker?

My airport express base station to base station (part number MC414LL/A) has worked well for the first 3 years, but now has a weaker signal is no longer covers the apartment. The location has not changed and we have not added all of the devices that could create interference.

    Any help would be appreciated.

3 years... average... is on when the internal of food inside the Express starts slowly the head downhill, so maybe it's a factor here.

If you don't have already done, power off the AirPort Express for a few seconds, then put it to the top. When you start the Express, it will automatically scan all channels use wireless sector and select the best channel to use both.  If you live in a crowded environment, you may have to restart the AirPort Express on a regular basis.

If there is no improvement after a few reboots of the Express, on what you can do at this point is to reset the device back to the default settings and then set up again to see if a new beginning offers some improvements in the intensity of the signal.

  • implemented 2012 Airport express base station

I have an Airport Express from 2012. I got my imac computer main "erased" to remove something so starts from scratch. It is connected to my main use of the airport. My question is: how to reconnect my Airport express if I get wifi using my computer laptop macbook in a remote part of my house again? Do I have to download an earlier application for this Airport Express 802.11n Wi - Fi? Via itunes? Thanks for any help.

You don't need legacy applications (v5 airport utility will be fine as is v6) for any airport Wireless-N.

Factory, you should reset the Airport Express Terminal and re-do the installation.

How to reconnect my Airport express if I get wifi using my computer laptop macbook in a remote part of my house again?

You must configure the express by ethernet to extend wire... which means that it creates a wireless network with the same name as the main router.

Or extend you to wireless... which means that you must have an existing Apple wireless router... extend wireless in apple routers is configured owner.

Tell us what is your main router... or if you have an airport which model and we can give more detailed instructions.

  • Airport express base station at will without connect to airport extreme

I tried to get my airPort Express to connect to the extreme via my iphone using the application configuration of the airport. He finds the express and he knows I have the extreme. I said I want to extend my current network and finds it units, but I receive and message error "an unexpected error has occurred" try again, I tried several times but to no avail.

Is your goal to have the Express to extend the reach of the extreme wireless using a wireless connection between them? If so, temporarily bring the Express in the same room that the extreme and then, use your iPhone AirPort Utility to try setting them up again. Please post back your results.

  • Photosmart more B209a-m does not connect with apple airport extreme base station

I use the B209a-m wireless with a netgear router OS6.  I just changed the Netgear to an apple Airport Extreme router.  All my other hardware connected successfully with the new router but the B209a-m says "no connection found."  I know the printer is well within the router.  I have reset the factory settings on the printer.  I've disabled the system and restarted.  None of this has worked.  Suggestions?

    Hello

You should not connect it to the airport.

You must connect the printer with a USB port on your Mac, then run the HP installation wizard.

From there, you will be guided to provifde the details needed to establish the connection between the printer and Airport Extreme wireless.

Once the process will be completed and set up the wifi connection you will be guided to unplug the USB.

You must use a USB cable high speed standard, not longer than 2 m in length.

The square end must be connected to the USB port located at the back of the printer:

  • The Airport 5.6.1 (10 Windows) utility cannot find Airport Extreme Base Station

I have the Airport Extreme Base Station (model A1408) model.

I'm under Apple Airport Utility 5.6.1 on Windows 10.

    10 Windows Firewall is disabled.

All of my WiFi devices, including my Windows laptop, 10, all work fine on the wireless network, and the light on the base station is green.

Life seems good... EXCEPT, when I run the utility Apple Airport (version 5.6.1) it says it's "impossible to find wireless Airport". Clicking on Rescan is fixed not. Power by bicycle to the base station doesn't fix it. It worked before, so this is the behavior seems to be somewhat intermittent. Lately, it doesn't quite work. So I can't reconfigure my base station.

Is this a known issue? Y at - it a known solution?

First of all, understand that the AirPort for Windows utility has not been updated since Windows 7. It 'works' on later versions of Windows, including Windows 10, but is not designed to work with the new 802.11ac base stations.

We'll see if this utility is installed correctly on your computer.

For Windows 8, 8.1, or 10, AirPort for Windows utility will work have two applications listed in the window Apps & features: 1) airport & 2) Hello.

    • Move or delete the file next to the C:\Windows\System32 folder: c:\windows\system32\dnssd.dll (Note: this is the Client Hello library and is required by the utility AirPort.) If this file is missing would be the main reason that you aren't able to find the base station. However, even if it is present, it cannot be properly registered in the Windows registry. In other words, Windows is concerned, there is no.)
    • Download AirPort for Windows install.
    • Run the Setup program by using privileges "Run as administrator". (Note: If you have the option to repair or uninstall, choose the option to uninstall.) To complete the uninstall process. The Hello application should now be missing in Apps & features list.)
    • If you do not dialogue to repair/Uninstall window, then let Setup install AirPort for Windows in its default folder.

Then, make sure your computer cable or wireless network adapter is configured for IPv6.

Now, try to access the base station with the utility again.

  • AirPort Extreme Base Station 4th Gen

    Hi all

I have an AirPort Extreme Base Station renovated 4th Gen router connected to a modem Arris SB6141 cable.  I had this AEBS for almost 5 years with no problems.  Last night, we had severe weather in the region and almost immediately after a lightning strike extremely close, our internet came out.  Service was also restored and our modem works properly.  However the AEBS is orange with intermittent flashing green.  When I opened the AirPort Utility to diagnose and fix the problem, I was prompted to connect the Ethernet cable to the AEBS.  All cables/cords are connected and secure.  I cycled power on all equipment, tried different cables and even performed a hard reset on the AEBS, and again, it won't recognize the cable Ethernet is plugged.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess you have tried another Ethernet cable between the modem and AirPort Extreme... and if this is the case, the storm produced a wave that damaged the port WAN on AirPort Extreme... even if the modem cannot have been hit.

All you can do is try a Factory default Reset on the AirPort Extreme several times to see if that could help. Good luck!

  • problem w / Airport Extreme base station and modem Netgear broadband

I just changed to ATT Uverse to Time Warner - internet only.  With Uverse, I was using my Airport Extreme base station to create a wireless network, and it has worked well in this capacity.  When you switch to TWC, the tech got the modem (TWC allows you to buy your own modem, so I bought a Netgear CM600 a recommended model) enabled and works very well, but could not get the Airport base station to talk about her (yellow light blink on the base station).  So, he opted for a TWC wireless modem/router.  Interestingly, I found that I could plug the Airport base station in the TWC modem (without any reconfiguration, just plugged into the WAN port base station to the modem ethernet port, as I had had with Uverse equipment) and voila!  It worked immediately.

So, I called TWC to retry my Netgear modem.  I have the base station power off, plugged on the ethenet port Netgear, put back under tension and just got the blinking light.  I know that the modem does not work, because my iMac's network to the internet through the base station, for the Netgear, and go outside and I can fine surf in this way.  So it is something in the wireless configuration that must be different between the TWC modem and the Netgear modem.

Obviously, I'm not an expert at this, basic troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.  The base station functions as a router (I can connect through a port ethernet through it), it is simply not generate a WiFi network for me...

    Thanks for the tips

If your AirPort Extreme has been in its original configuration, it would act as a wireless Internet router. If you connect another router upstream to the extreme, there is work, but you'll have a condition known as: Double NAT. This isn't necessarily bad, but should be avoided if possible. To do this is simply to reconfigure the downstream router (in this case, the extreme) under a bridge. This disable its functions of routing and remove the error condition.

However, if your extreme base station has been reconfigured as a bridge, if connect you directly to a simple modem, like the Netgear CM600, then this configuration will not work because no device will provide the necessary routing functions.

It's always a good idea to perform a full power recycle your network hardware during change of equipment. Maybe that's the only thing your missed when you design your own? If you haven't done so already, please give it a try with the CM600 & Extreme combo. After return your results.

  • Laptop stopped seeing Apple AirPort Express

    Hello

I'm having a problem with the Wi - Fi with Apple Airport Express (http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/). Windows XP on my laptop Toshiba Satellite M70-339 PSM77E this is crushed about 4-5 days ago and since then he stopped to see the network Airport 4 days ago (but it can still detect the other networks). I think something in the network settings changed on my laptop. That's what I have:

1 there is Airport Express Mac and a PC laptop Toshiba Satellite M70-339 PSM77E with Windows XP Home Edition.

2 mac sees the Airport network (and some other neighborhood networks). It is connected to the Internet and it works fine.

3 laptop with Windows XP stopped seeing the network 4 days without any reason (but it can still detect the other networks of neighborhood, so the material is activated and it works). I had the network works for about 6 weeks. When I first tried to find the network (about 6 weeks ago) I had the same problem: the laptop could not see the network, but then I worked I had a few other internal network settings in my laptop after I removed it, it detected the Airport network. I even used Express Admin Airport utility (or sth like this) to set the WPA security for our network.

    4. to solve my problem now, I tried almost everything I found in apple.com forums and some other related forums this issue, but it seems that this problem is usually solved by chance.

    5. I tried to repair the network connection (by selecting repair in the settings), I removed the networks all the favourites, I had, I disabled all firewall, I tried with different laptop computer IP configuration (I know that he doesn t have nothing to do with the detection of the network, but I was frustrated). I even updated my WiFi drivers and the laptop cannot always detect Airport network (However it can see all the others who are in the region). There is no interference between the laptop and the Airport (the problem doesn t also depend on the distance between the laptop and the device).

Please give me suggestions. Don't forget the laptop used to detect the network without any problem, and the Internet worked well.

    See you soon,.
    Jakub

    Hello Jakub

You will be very happy if anyone has experiences with Apple Airport Express and can offer a concrete solution. After losing question have you tried to roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool?

When the OS works well and stable it is always good to create system restore points or do some sort of backup image. I do this all the time and I'm not worried if something goes wrong.

Sorry, Jakub, but if you can't find an answer or solution on the apple forum I really don't think you will find it here. The fact is that the WLAN card works, but how to set it up with Apple Airport Express. I don't really know, but as you said already, maybe you need a chance.

  • How to extend the range of my Airport Extreme Base Station (802. 11 a, c) using a relay of Airport Express (802.11n).  Airport Utility (V635.2) says that this version does not support the relay.  That is what it is?

How can I extend the range of my Airport Extreme (802. 11 a, c) using an Airport Express (802.11n) point.  Airport (V635.2) utility does not recognize the Express on its screen?  I have to buy equipment?  I'm on a MacPro OS X 10.10.5.  Thank you.

AirPort utility that ships with OS X 10.10.5 supports base stations as 802.11ac & 802.11n AirPort. It should be able to configure both of your base stations for a scope (wireless connected base stations) or roaming types (base station connected Ethernet) wireless networks.

When you initially configure the Wan, it helps to keep the two base stations in the same room. Once configured, you can move the base station that extend to the desired location. The important key is that the final positioning of the station that extends the base must be understood that it's to expand in order to maintain sufficient bandwidth to the station remotely for clients from network connected. Please check the following airport user tip for more details.
