  • Why doesn't apple mail attachments?

Dear sage & powerful masters of technology,

After a recent update, I'm afraid that my application of apple mail no longer accepts attachments.  I am running OSX 10.9.5.

Is there a way to fix this?

Also has anyone seen this problem?

What is the best way to solve this problem?

Thank you for your help and time.  Please let me know if I can be of any help to you in this or other issues.

What happens when you try to attach something?

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the United Nations to the Installer application or instructions to uninstall using the developer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  • Apple Mail starts whenever I receive a new Message

I own a MacBook Pro and have all updated as much as iOS and go my apps. Since the last update a week or two ago, Apple Mail opens by itself whenever I get a new email!

This is very frustrating, because I quit Mail and then some time later a new email arrives and Mail again!

    Help, please!

    Hello mariosapoel,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your message when you receive a new email on your MacBook Pro, it opens the Mail application. In a situation like this, I recommend restarting your Mac in safe mode and then restarting normally again.

Follow these steps to start in safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

  • Apple mail gif

How can I insert a gif animated in Apple Mail with reliability?  It seems that, at random, gif anime, OR it will be just a static image.

When it's a static image, the drop-down menu "image size" appears.  When it is animated, this does not happen.

I tried the drag and drop, both using the attachment in Mail icon.

I had this problem for about a month and can not identify why sometimes the gif comes alive, and sometimes it isn't.

    Thank you.

I don't know the answer to your question, however, is not specific to the position. It has something to do with how the GIFs are created or packaged. The same thing is happening in browsers and in the Finder.

  • Apple Mail - assignment of priority

    Hello

could someone explain to me why I have this problem and how to put it right.

I use Apple mail with a Gmail account.

I can not assign a priority to an individual e-mail message setting.

    I select:

    Message

then: in the drop down menu choose: Message / Mark

    the 3 axes appear

    -As low priority

    -As normal priority

    -With a priority high

are all 'grayed out' - I can't select all.

Could it be a setting in my Gmail account, I need to change...?

    Any advice much appreciated.

    Thank you

Tony, in London in the United Kingdom.

    Hi N14!

I understand that you want to assign priority settings to messages in the Mail application.  I understand you want to set the priority of messages in Mail, and I'm happy to review some information for you.  Priority settings apply only to outgoing messages, so it might be why you are not able to choose a priority.  If you are having problems assigning a priority to outgoing messages, please answer and let me know what version of Mac OS X you are using.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    See you soon!

  • Gmail and Apple Mail - POP IMAP

I converted about 10 POP IMAP e-mail accounts.  In the process, I lost thousands of emails associated with my ISP email accounts. It was really my fault... water under the bridge.

It's bad enough, but the worst is Gmail. I never use Gmail online. With pop, I just received messages via Apple Mail and delete or remove messages on my MBP.

Now, after having converted the IMAP accounts, I get all gmail messages I've ever sent or received, down, responsible for Apple Mail and I can't understand how to stop them.  He now has a record of archive which regenerates every time that I have trash all messages.  There are a multitude of other questions as well.

At this point all my accounts are offline until I can figure out what to do.  All advice is greatly appreciated.

    • IMAP accounts: Messages are stored on an e-mail server until you delete them. When your account connects to the server, it is synchronized so that the messages on your Mac are the same as those on the server. Messages are accessible from different computers and locations where you use the account.
    • POP accounts: Messages are stored on an e-mail server and are downloaded to your Mac when you access your account. Messages remain on the server until they are deleted from the server.
  • Apple Mail keeps coming back to Chrome as default mail client

I have a mid 2013 13 - inch MacBook Air with OS X 10.11.5. I regularly use the Apple Mail as my default email without any problem client. I also use Safari as my browser main opening only Chrome sometimes when I have a problem with a particular Web site. I have my email of company through Mail and use gmail on Safari for my personal e-mail. I worked this way for years. Suddenly in the last two weeks, if I click on an email link in Mail it opens in Chrome. I'm in Mail preferences and default mail software is Google Chrome, even if I never made this change. I then change the e-mail by default back to Mail reader and exit preferences. I then click on a link in Mail and maybe email, it opens a window of response in the mail, but often he has already been restored to Google Chrome, in a few seconds. Closing and opening of mail does not solve this problem, also using the "Select" feature in the drop-down list the default e-mail reader and choose manually the Mail of my Applications folder does not resolve this problem. He continues to come back to Chrome as default mail software. Somehow Chrome apparently hijacked my default player, how can I permanently solve this problem?

    Hi there g8rben!

I know how it is important that your default e-mail and browser settings work correctly as well. I suggest to start in safe mode and see if you can make changes here. Check out the following steps: try safe mode if your Mac does not start-up

    Start in safe mode

Follow these steps to start in safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

If safe mode doesn't resolve the issue, try uninstalling Google Chrome and then put it back. I hope these steps help!

Since the 10.11.5 update has been installed, Apple Mail is beachballing as soon as I open it so I can't account (gmail only) to turn it off. What is the best way to recover?

    Hello

Safe Mode boot removes the system caches that can help after an upgrade.

    Then try to Apple Mail.

  • Corrupt Word Apple Mail substitution (e.g.., #)?

Well, I'm puzzled. In Apple Mail, when I type a Word and the drop-down list window word substitution gives me a suggestion, all the letters of the text are the hashtag of symbols, for example, #. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I used the disk utility and even served the police implements cache through Linotype FontExplorer X Pro 5. I could try to disable Word substitution, but I would like to fix this problem instead.

Please read this message before doing anything.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

    Step 1

The goal of this step is to determine if the problem is localized to your user account.

Select the feedback connections* and log in as a guest. Do not use the Safari connection only 'user comments' created by 'find my Mac '.

While signed in as a guest, you will have access to your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you use them for the first time. Do not be alarmed by this behavior; It's normal. If you need any password or other personal information in order to complete the test, save, print, or write them before you start.

Test while signed in as a guest. Same problem?

After testing, log on to the guest account and in your own account, disable it if you wish. The files that you created in the guest account will be automatically deleted when you log out of it.

    * Note: If you have enabled 'find my Mac' or FileVault, then you cannot activate the guest account. The login 'User comments' created by 'Find my Mac' is not the same. Create a new account to test and delete it, including his home folder, after testing.

    Step 2

The goal of this step is to determine if the problem is caused by changes in the system of third party that load automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.

Please take this step regardless of the results of step 1.

Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

The login screen is displayed even if you normally connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

Test in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Apple Mail - slow typing 10.11.4

I use a MacBook Pro (model 11.2) with Apple Mail.  Recently, I upgraded to El Capitan 10.11.4.  Typing in Apple Mail is now very slow, which means that the text appears on the screen much slower as I type.  It might take seconds for a single word is displayed on the screen.  The trackpad is similar; Sometimes, the cursor will not move for a few seconds.

The symptoms are not consistent over time.  One moment the words on the screen can follow typing and a minute later can be as slow as molasses.  It has been the case for a couple of weeks since the 10.11.4 updated so I went through reboots, etc.

Also has anyone seen this problem?  Any ideas on how to solve it?

    1. open a message editing window. On the Edit menu, uncheck all options in spelling and replacements of the submenus. Test.

    2. some users with this problem report that they have been informed by the Apple Support to remove the icon from the toolbar of the message editing window markup. To do this, open a new message window, and then select

    View ▹ Customize toolbar...

in the menu bar. Drag the tag icon - representing a portfolio case - down and out of the tool bar, then release. Click done.

    3. many problems with mail are caused by iCloud drive. If you use the service, open the iCloud preferences window, click Options... next to the practice of iCloud area and in the leaf that opens, uncheck that Mail. See if there is an improvement.

  • How can I change the default 'from' address in iCloud/Apple Mail

I changed it to a point to my alias iCloud, and no matter how many times I change it in Apple Mail preferences it does not stick. When I close my iMac down, the next time I start up my alias address you "from" still my default address once. V. frustrating. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Please, back up all data before proceeding.

This procedure will unlock all your user (not system files) files and reset their ownership, permissions and default access controls. If you have voluntarily set special values for these attributes on any of your files, they will be be restored. In this case, either stop there, or be ready to recreate the settings if necessary. Do that after checking these settings that did not cause the problem. If none of that is meaningful to you, you need not worry about this, but do not follow the instructions below.

    Step 1

If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to step 2.

Triple-click anywhere in the next line to this page to select this option:

    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nosappnd,noschg,nosunlnk,nouappnd,nouchg {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-

Copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing Command + V. I tried these instructions only with the Safari browser. If you use another browser, you may need to press the return key after pasting.

You will be asked your password of connection that are not displayed when you type. Type carefully, and then press return. You can get a warning to be careful. If you do not have a password, you will need to configure one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your user name "is not in the sudoers file", then you have not logged as an administrator.

The command may take several minutes to run, depending on the number of files you have. Wait for a new line ending with a dollar sign ($) to appear, and then quit Terminal.

    Step 2 (optional)

Take this step only if you have trouble with the phase 1, if you prefer not to consider, or if this does not resolve the problem.

Start in recovery mode. You may be prompted to select a language, then the OS X Utilities appears.

If you use FileVault 2, select disk utility, then select the icon for the volume FileVault startup ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name.) It will be nested under another icon of the disc. Click the Open button in the toolbar and enter your login password when you are prompted. Then quit disk utility must be returned to the main screen.

    Select

    Utilities ▹ Terminal

in the menu bar. It will open a Terminal window. In this window, type this:

    resetp

Press the tab key. The partial order you entered will automatically end this:

    resetpassword

Press return. Opens a window to reset the password. You do not need to reset a password.

Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name) if not already selected.

Select your username in the menu option allows you to select the account if not already selected.

Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the reset button.

    Select

    ▹ Restart 

    in the menu bar.

  • Where is the Apple Mail 'not junk' button?

    All-

In Apple Mail, Yosemite 10.5.5. There is no option to mark an e-mail in the Junk folder as legitimate. I have the active built-in junk e-mail filter. When I select the message and select «Message-> Mark...» "in the menu bar, there is an option to mark as junk mail, but not to mark as not junk. Similariy, if I press control button or right click on the message itself, the only option «Mark...» "must mark as junk. If I try to customize the toolbar, the button that I gave is a thumbs down/undesirable. From left to right, on the top line of the range of customization, the buttons are remove, unwanted as a pair, remove alone, only Junk, Archive, reply, reply to all, forward as a triplet, only answer, reply to all, forward only, flag, move, copy. No thumbs up/no no junk.

Many of the items I found on the Web about this, including recent operating systems like Yosemite, imply that some people see a button not Junk.

    What is going on?

    Thanks in advance.

I should add that in this thread:

My button "Not junk" is missing

There is a lot of confusion on what is the problem. I should clarify that my mail preferences say in effect "Trust junk mail headers", part of the mail that ends up in my Junk folder is NOT explicitly identified as spam by headers, so this isn't why the messages can not be marked as spam. Some of these posters in the other thread seemed to believe the Junk button is a toggle, that mark a message as not being not junk if it's in the junk mail folder (assuming that no header interfere) and undesirable, if not in the junk e-mail folder, or something like that. I could believe that for other operating systems, but Apple is generally not nearly as careless with its icons and their labels. and in no case is the MENU item in 'Message-> Mark... '. "forever; It always reads as"spam." In other words, there is absolutely no evidence that Apple Mail, at least my installation of Apple Mail, has any idea how to mark a message as legitimate - it is a way of saying current marking what the message.
