AppleScript: "equal" does not in "repeat to.

It is a fundamental question of Apple Script.

If I use one ' if A = test B' inside of a loop 'repeat for A {...} ". (I want to treat differently the values in the set), "A = B' is always false, even if A is equal to B."  This is not a problem outside the loop, so I 'package A to B' and test.

This script demonstrates the problem:

(* This part works *)

Journal ""using \"set aVar to\": "

game aVar for 1

testValue (aVar)

game aVar for 2

testValue (aVar)

(* This part does not work *)

Journal ""using \"repeat with aVar in\": "

game aList to {1, 2}

Repeat with aVar in aList

testValue (aVar)

end Repeat

(* This method is used in the two pieces above *)

(* It tests the ' if A = B operation' *)

on testValue (variable)

If variable is equal to 1 then

Journal 1

else If variable is equal to 2 then

Journal 2

on the other

Journal 'nor '.

end if

end testValue

Responses resulting (from the log instructions):

(* using the 'value aVar': *)

(*1*)

(*2*)

(* using the "repeat with aVar in": *)

(* or *) <-should be (* 1 *)

(* or *) <-should be (* 2 *)

In the loop (second part), the 'testValue' method works differently outside the loop (first part) and incorrectly.  The results of both parties must be the same.

What Miss me?

Use the following Manager:

on testValue (variable)

If (variable number) is equal to 1 then

Journal 1

Otherwise, if (variable number) is equal to 2, then

Journal 2

on the other

log 'none'

end if

end testValue

    Hello sashasonia,

    Looks like the AppleScript editor does not open on your Mac and activity monitor shows that the program is not responding. I know how about them can be when programs and applications do not work as expected and I'm happy to help you to get AppleScript up and run again.

    The first step is to force the AppleScript Editor to quit smoking and then try opening it again. To force the closure of the program, follow these steps:

    To close an application normally, choose leave in the application menu in the menu bar, or press command-Q. If an application does not respond, you can force it to close it using the Force to leave:

    1. Choose force quit from the Apple menu, or press Command-Option-Esc.
      This is to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete on a PC.
    2. Select the application does not respond within the window to leave, then click on force quit.

    Force a nearby application on your Mac.

    If the AppleScript editor does not respond when you try to open it again, restart your Mac. To restart, select the  in the upper left corner of your screen, then "restart". Try again the AppleScript editor once you are logged into your user account.

    If you still can't not to get the editor AppleScript work correctly, follow the steps outlined in the article below to start your Mac in safe mode, and then test the program again. Since starting in safe mode removes certain system and kernel hiding, check your startup disk and tries to fix the problems of directory, you will want to restart your Mac as usual again and test AppleScript editor once more when you are connected to your user account.

  • Verification of simple equality does not

    Hello

    one of my students there is a mistake, and I'm not.

    It has a text entry box (a), and seeks to verify that the user enters 'one '. If he succeeds, it displays a message in the dynamic text box (b)

    var x: String = "a";

    btn_done.onPress = function() {}

    If (a.text! = x) {}

    b.Text = "Wrong";

    trace (a.Text);

    }

    else {}

    b.Text = 'Right ';

    }

    }

    No matter what you type, the answer is 'bad '. I spent hours to research, but can not see the problem. Anyone can enlighten us please?

    change the multi-line to single-line TextField.

    (when a trace of the text seem to expect but does not act the way you expect, draw length, too.)  that will reveal the problems of white space.  in your case you probably have a return at the end of 'one' transportation.  That is to say, 'One').

  • Queue RAS does not work with "Key relachΘe".

    Hello

    probably just a simple thing I'm missing here. See the VI attached (including the Subvi). In case 1, I get the event button Up to ENTER and deliver a change in value on the Stop button. This translates into a verification of the length of the string, and where she is too short made up a dialog telling you the ID is too short and takes you back to the entry ID unfortunately - upon confirmation of the dialog with the ENTRY instead of using the mouse on the button sequence an event triggered again and then read by the Structure of the event.

    So I thought I just rinse all the events in the queue. To be sure, I put a time value on the service of hunting that takes place AFTER the dialog box is complete, so the key place ENTRY should be deleted as well. Jinx is - it does not work. Someone knows why?

    I tried both with the dynamic event, I have not registered right after that the stop event is issued in the case button upward. I then "re" sign for the key event to the top at the same time/position that hunting event queue function is now positioned in the VI below. Still no joy.

    What was my mistake? Thank you very much.

    Comrade wrote:

    I don't understand 2 things:

    (a) why the key, an event is triggered even? It does not come from the VI where the structure of the event and what 'Instance', the event is bound (VI-> up key), but from the dialog box (which is an another VI). Unless a call VI inherits all the events of his SubVIs or something like that.

    (b) why isn't the event raised by the button in the dialog thrown as hunting event queue function is supposed to run?

    Because you're slow.  Not you personally.  But compared to the computer, you just don't have a chance.  If you hit the button Enter on the dialog box.  OK button on this dialog box activates the button down.  If the dialog box is long gone by the time you manage to get your finger on the Enter key.  In fact, you loop must be around back to wait first for an event.  So he is waiting for an event when you finally get your finger on the button.  Hey, we have a key event to the top!

    Your current checking for the validity of the id is just boring hard.  Use the key down? event to check a valid character entered.  Notice the '?' in my choice of event there?  This means that it is an event of the filter.  This means that you can throw (throw) the character being pressed before that same control sees it.  You might also throw if there is already enough characters (greater than or equal, does not).

  • Vista does not always start cleanly

    I'm trying to help my friend to a problem with his Dell Inspiron 530 computer.  The computer running all day but she she stops during the night.  After a series of updates, the computer would need a "repair" or restore.  Repair worked. The interesting thing here is that sometimes the system starts properly and other times it's not.  When I went to check, it starts perfectly every time. She's frustrated.  I love Vista and have had similar problems on my computer laptop but resolved.  Any ideas? I tried to compare the information of updating my laptop on his desk but my laptop is older than 3 months and I didn't have time to check each number.

    Hi azcoop33,

    Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forums.

    Be you please perform a clean boot on your system to see if that helps to clear up the problem that you are experiencing?

    Here are the steps on how to perform a clean boot on your system:

    First step: perform a clean boot

    1. sign your computer with an administrator account.

    2. click on start.

    3. type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

    4. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    5. in the general tab, click Selective startup, and then click to clear the check box load startup items.

    6. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

    * NOTE: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    7. click OK and then click on restart.

    Second step: enable half the services

    1. start the System Configuration utility. Refer to the steps above if you need to see how to do this.

    2. click on the Services tab and then click to select the skin all the Microsoft services checkbox.

    3 click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.

    4. click OK and then click on restart.

    Step 3: determine whether the problem returns

    If the problem does not occur, repeat the first stage and the second stage. In the second step, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

    If only one service is selected in the list of services, and you the problem persists, the service selected the cause of the problem. Go to sixth step. If no service is causing this problem, go to step 4.

    Step 4: enable half of the startup items

    Perform a clean boot by repeating step 1.

    Click the Startup tab, and then click to select half of the check boxes in the startup item list.

    Click OK and then click on restart.

    Step 5: determine whether the problem returns

    If the problem persists, repeat the first step and the fourth step. In step 4, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have originally selected in the startup item list.

    If the problem does not occur, repeat the first step and the fourth step. In the fourth step, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the startup item list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

    If only one startup item is selected in the startup item list, and you still experience the problem, start selected in the list element is the service that is causing the problem. Go to sixth step.

    If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely the cause of the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, repeat the first stage and the second stage without selecting the skin all the box Microsoft services at every step.

    Step 6: resolve the problem

    After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

    Step 7: solve the problem

    When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start

    2. type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

    3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    4. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    5. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

  • Problems with latest updates Windows (KB) do not install & repeated notifications via the taskbar icon

    Hello everyone,

    In my view, there are many people who seem to have a similar problem to mine, although I was unable to find an answer to one of my questions in this post.

    Description of the problem:

    Although my Windows Update is defined on download & install updates during the night hours every day, the latest updates, KB26333880, KB2572073and KB2518864 are not be installed.  I went to the Windows Update site to check my editing history.  He showed the green/white checkmarks next to all 3 updates.  The record also showed that updates have been tempted 3 times during the night.  After clicking on the button "Express" on the Home Page, the results show 3 above updates, but show "0 bytes', then '0 download time. '

    To me, this indicates that there is no update to download, despite the yellow Shield of Notification of update continues to appear in the taskbar.

    Corrective measures attempted:

    1. I tried to download / install twice unsuccessfully using IE8 and FF (including restarting the computer).

    2. download & run the program MS Fixitattempted, but received a message which read, "an unexpected error has occurred, please try again later." No. error code has seen with this message.  (I could RECORD the program on my desktop... just couldn't run the establishment).

    3 tried to search for the presence of these updates using start > run > %windir%KB###.log (where the # is the individual number of update KB).  Every time - a message appears indicating that the file is not found.

    4 looked at the Add/Remove Programs list (with the Show updates checkbox checked).  No updates KB mentioned above could be found.

    5 with SAS, MBAMand Outpost Security Suite Pro scans revealed no malware/security issues.  (SAS and MBAM are used only as scanners on request).

    This problem with the updates does not download & repeated notifications being indicated in the taskbar has occurred many times before.  On this occasion, I called Microsoft several times before finally, my computer remotely accessible support person and spent about 50 minutes to fix the problem.

    (Also, it is noted that almost every support person I spoke with has always tried to tell me that MS is not help with the problem of this type.)  I had to be rather several in my reply... tell the person that MS IS in fact provide assistance free security-related Windows updates.  They now provide free assistance is unknown). Besides... I have more a phone number for States anyway.

    My questions to the community:

    1. is it possible to download & install these 3 updates?

    2 is there an explanation as to why MS Fixit program will not be installed, and if so, are there certain corrective measures I can take which will allow me to download & run this program?

    System Specs:

    Desktop Dell Dimension 3000 Tower;  WIN XP Pro SP3.  2 GB OF RAM;  3.00 gHz CPU;  Outpost Security Suite Pro.  MBAM Pro (on request only).  SAS (on request only);  SpywareBlaster;  IE8 & FF

    Hi coolis,.

    There are many steps that we could try to try the basic step, it will take place the computer in a State of clean boot, put the computer in a clean boot state followed the following steps:

    Log the computer by using an account with administrator rights.

    b. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    d. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

    Note following this step lets Microsoft services continue to operate. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    e. click OK and then click on restart.

    Once you reboot check if the problem is solved in the clean boot state.

    Step 2: Enable half of the service

    Follow steps 1a and 1B to start the System Configuration utility.

    Step 3: Determine whether the problem returns

    If the problem persists, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have initially enabled in the Service list.

    If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

    If only one service is selected in the list of services, and you the problem persists, the service selected the cause of the problem. Go to step 6. If no service is causing this problem, go to step 4.

    Step 4: Enable half of the startup items

    Perform a clean boot by repeating step 1.

    Click the Startup tab, and then click to select half of the check boxes in the startup item list.

    Click OK and then click on restart.

    If only one startup item is selected in the startup item list, and you still experience the problem, start selected in the list element is the service that is causing the problem. Go to step 6.

    If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely the cause of the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be the cause of the problem, repeat step 1 and step 2 without selecting the skin all the box Microsoft services at every step.

    Step 6: Resolve the problem

    After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

    Step 7: Reset the computer to start as usual

    When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    Hello

    Here are a couple of things to try.

    Shut down the PC. Tap away at f8 that you start the PC to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe mode and press ENTER.  If this will load in the Start Menu, click principally made programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and run the system restore.  Choose a restore point at least 24 hours prior to the issue of logon and then proceed to the restoration.  When you are finished, Windows will restart as usual - see if you can now log on your profile.

    If the above does not help, repeat the first part of the procedure of launching Windows Recovery Console, but this time use the arrow keys to select "start using the last good known Configuration" and press to enter.

    Kind regards
