AppleScript move files to the specific folder for Automator

Hello

I have a script to do a bunch of stuff that makes PDF files that I have stored in different folders. I want to be able to move the items by using a loop

i.e. repeat with i from 1 to (number of files in the folder x) - assuming that all records have also the same number of files

move point i of the x to folder toCombine folder

pass I have folder is the folder toCombine

pass the z to record toCombine folder i

Tell application "combines."

run

tell the end

end repeat

"Handset" is just a simple automator app that takes the contents of the folder of the folder "toCombine" and adds them in the order I want which is X > Y > Z as page 1, 2, and 3. However, I see fluctuations in the order that I continue to work loop while watching the toCombine file, resulting in Z > Y > X and stop randomly.

I added delay and even a control to see if there is no X before moving the point Y etc..

Is there a solution for this?

Just an idea: are you aware that the point of any folder i always refers to the alphabetical order of the Articles?

  • How can I move files to the system folder?

    Hi all

    I was wondering how to move files to the system folder. With the update to El Capitan and the former program is no longer works and the developer suggests moving some files on the system folder that should fix it, but even if an administrator account I don't have write access to the system-> library folder where they need to go. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Steve

    In short: you do not have. The folder/System is only for Apple.  The new protections in El Capitan make it impossible for you to place the files.

    This is what the folder/library for: install additional components to the system, but keeping them separated from the basic installation.

    What software are you trying to run? What files we told you to move? I'm curious to know what type of developer will tell you to put the files in / System.

  • get files from a specific folder for adding a pdf file

    Hello

    How can I get a file in a specific folder for adding a pdf file?

    You don't need to get the files in the folder B, if you know what is the path of the folder B, and what are the names of files...

    To process several files, you use an Action in Acrobat Pro. They have to run the following JS code (assuming that this file B is actually C:\Temp\B\):

    var folderBPath = "/ c/temp/b /;

    this.insertPages ({cPath: folderBPath + this.documentFileName});

    Then add a Save command, and you're done.

  • How to get the support of the place of installation files in the specific folder

    Hi, I am using the LabVIEW2009 Setup program for the first time. I have not used any precedents, then my understanding is limited. I created a project and an executable and wants to direct the installer to put a few groups of files in a number of directories in which the executable file will. On the source files page, I see a number of descriptions of record in brackets. I don't understand how to use them. They are set up to point to specific directories? If so, how? So far, I managed to create an installer that puts all the support of the project files in a single directory. My attempts to select a subset of files in the project view window and place them in a separate Directory could not because they are treated as an indivisible group. Basically, I don't know enough about Setup and my research for more information only provided very basic information. If anyone can help by providing or pointing to more detailed information, I would be very grateful. Thanks George

    David,

    Thank you once again. The problem is solved! I had read the help and tried to put \Binaries in C:. It is useful if you run the installation program not only the creator of the installer! It was a situation "can't see the forest for the trees" at the last stage. It was a long day!

    Best regards

    haben

    Looking at the specs of your camera (SJCam 4000), we already know what video compression your camera uses. It is H.264.

    A H.264.mov file should be accompanied by a first elements 11. On what computer operating system is your first items 11 running?

    You have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? And, you use QuickTime and first of 11 elements of a

    Account user with administrative privileges? Please go to Premiere elements 11 publish + share/computer/QuickTime to confirm that you will find

    presets it to the choice of QuickTime, it.

    What are the properties of these files H.264.mov - is it 1080 p (1920 x 1080 p 30) 30 or something else? Do you know if this device is registering with a variable or

    a constant rate?

    Please check and review and then we'll decide what next.

  • How to transfer files to a specific folder (or root) instead of the Assets folder?

    Is it possible, or should I go ahead and fill a feature request?

  • Save PNG files in the original folder, using the droplets in Photoshop CC 2014

    I want to save the RAW of Lightroom in PNG images and found an online method that involves the use of a droplet in PS. I created this drop with a PS action which is to save an image as a PNG file, to a folder that I call "the PNG files. To get a PNG file the procedure goes like this:

    From Lightroom, the image is saved in TIFF format in a new folder it is the original folder

    After you save the image, the drop is automatically used from Lightroom;

    The TIFF image is opened in Photoshop and saved as a PNG image in the 'PNG files' folder

    My problems with this is that (1) it creates a needless TIFF file and (2) the final PNG image is not saved in the folder of the original RAW file. Ideally, I would like to convert TIFF PNG in Photoshop and crush the TIFF file with the final PNG file. But with the manner of Photoshop "save under" and functions 'Save for Web' are put in place, I have to choose a specific folder for the PNG file, which means that all images resulting themselves in a single folder, instead of in any folder the TIFF file was saved to. With droplets there is an option to "Save and close" which would replace the original with the final file TIFF file. However, it bypasses the action where I saved the image as a PNG, so I essentially be run over a TIFF with another TIFF file.

    The current situation is that, in the interest of the Organization, I would have to (1) remove the TIFF files after each export and (2) move the final PNG files to the folders that I want them to be. This would, of course, a lot of time.

    If you could help me with this problem, I would be extremely grateful! With the media I use much better than JPG PNG files display. Now, I just want to get a good workflow.

    When you save the action to save in PNG (not save it to the web), it anywhere is the location.

    It will replace you in the drop.

    Action-States a location of 2014/06/04 (not applicable)

    The location of droplets-Overrides.

    The Save and the narrow part of the droplet is there for that. A location is never requested.

    Preference in Photoshop - ensures that the png is saved along with the tiff.

    Firefox uses the bookmarkbackups folder to store backups of bookmarks, in order not to lose in case of problems with the database places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks.

    Firefox continues to run daily backups JSON (bookmarks-#-#-_xxxx.json #) of the bookmarks in the folder bookmarkbackups, one for each day that Firefox has been launched and a maximum of 10.

    You can set the maximum type via the browser.bookmarks.max_backups pref on the topic: config page.

    The current versions of Firefox indicate the number of bookmarks in a JSON backup as part of the file name: xxxx in bookmarks-#-#-# _xxxx.json, so you can use it to select a backup.

    . If folder dllcache a Version tab displays the above version number and Microsoft Corporation as the owner, then could cut and move of the System32 folder then vouscopiezetcollezle the dllcache to the System32 folder and try regsvr32 shimgvw.dll in the run > open: box. • Thousands of PES files in the root folder of drive D?

    I'm under PSE 13 on a Windows 7 system. I was shocked and horrified to discover, after use of PSE 13 days that the root folder of my D: drive where I have installed PSE13 has nearly SEVEN THOUSAND files! These are for the most part of the xml, bmp, jpg, psd, mp4 and .gif files. It is an absolute no no prospects of a good Windows file system management. Applications should NEVER store hundreds or thousands of files in the folder root of the drive, one. That is why the sous-sous-sous-dossiers/sous-sous-sous-repertoires.  Can you imagine the chaos if every application developer did it?

    More surely there be a way to specify where these organizing files can be stored and place them in the folder of my hard disk where they are absolutely not?

    mxgordon wrote:

    ... Unless it started in PES 11 I had installed before the upgrade to 13, however, when 11 was installed, it's all on the C: drive. I pass the process of conversion of the catalogue of 11 to 13.

    The files usually have names like 'B0000000.pref', 'B0000002', 'B0000005.dat', B0000006.xml, 'B0003495.xml', 'B0003496.bmp', ' "B0006834."» "JPG", "B0006816.psd" and a huge 2 GB of files "Photoshop Temp2287141416368".

    What you show, it is the content of a backup folder. It's a pretty common problem to find all the files in a folder root of a drive when the destination of the backup folder was not specified, the drive letter.

    A backup folder contains files renamed image as "". B000000 ". "JPG", where the suffix is maintained. All the other files and subfolders are renamed in the original catalog file. More important still, the backup folder contains the two most important files, "catalog.buc"(a copy renamed your database "catalog.pse11db" and a "backup.tly" file that contains all the information to rename the files and store them in their structure of tree of file origin of the command of the "restoration" of the Organizer. Catalog backup file is usually created on an external EHD. The restoration process normally allows you to set the location of the main folder on the backup drive. Users don't often specify a folder to create for this purpose; I always recommend to create the backup folder before the restore process.

    Your case is a little more complicated due to several factors:

    -you have converted from version 11 to 13

    -you have installed an SSD

    -you have installed software elements on D: which is something not 1% of typical users will do.

    This and your answer shows that you and only you can find what you've done to get the contents of a backup in the root folder. The answer requires you to remember all of the previous steps, you have done to convert the backup and migrate to the D: drive.

    What is not clear to me of your two different messages, is if the problem is to find files cumbersome and unnecessary in the root or folder if you have also problems with your catalogs and library of image files. If you have no problem to remove unwanted files from the root folder, you simply use Explorer to delete all files starting with "B00" over the catalog.buc and backup.tly file. Instead of delete, you can even move them to a newly created folder: this will create a valid backup folder.

    Thanks in advance for your comments, they can be very useful for other users.

  • CANNOT write to files in the shared folder of XP on a PC running windows 7 - but good vice versa

    I have a laptop under Windows 7 (SP1) and a desktop running XP (SP3).  I have connected both via a wireless network. While I can see and access shared files/folders from one computer to the other computer, I can only read/write files in the shared folder on the portable computer that is running Windows 7.

    If I try and change a file in the shared folder from the PC under XP on my laptop, I get the message "this file is set to read-only. Try again with a different name "."  I know that the file is NOT checked for read-only. When I change the name of the file I get the error message "\\Desktop\SharedDocs\filename.doc you are not allowed to save in this location. Contact the administrator for approval.  You want to save in the folder my documents instead? "If I save the file to another location on the laptop under Win7 it save then OK.  I can not just save a modified version of the file in the same shared folder from desktop running XP.
    It seems that it must be something to do with permissions and access to the parameters of the desktop running XP but I can not find these. Fairly easy to find in Windows 7.
    Finally, I don't have a login/password set for the connection to the computer to Office XP.  I don't have a user name and password for the laptop Win7 but you have turned off password protected sharing.
    Anyone have a solution to this?
    Thank you

    OK - the problem is now resolved.

    I noticed that the read-only for the shared folder has been checked. When I unchecked it and also checked the box "allow network users to change my files" in the shared folder properties/sharing, I was able to modify and save files in the shared folder on my laptop.
    It's a little weird because I thought I had done this the other day where the results have been less successful.  Strange.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Windows search fails to find the files in the Documents folder

    Original title: Windows 7 search finds no files, even though all the settings have been verified and the search index has been rebuilt

    I recently bought a new Dell laptop Studio 1558 with Windows 7 Home Premium and moved through several hundred documents from my old PC to the new folder 'My Documents'.

    As many others have found, Windows Search has been completely useless. She seems to have no problem finding files in the music folder or image, but anything in the document library is invisible to the it - even if I get in a subfolder small for a file name I see just in front of me, Windows Search will announce that "no element not corresponding to your search.

    I took a number of steps so far to fix the problem, which none have worked:

    1. I checked which locations are indexed for search and ensured that the document library is among them (as well as all of my C drive).

    2. I checked that appropriate file extensions (.doc .docx .pdf, etc.) are all selected from the "File Types" list in indexing options (although I noticed that 'Description of filter' for .pdf bed "Registered IFilert is not found" - not this problem with Word documents).

    3. I have deleted and rebuilt the search index.

    4. I ran the troubleshooting Windows 7 Search tool, which reports that it cannot find any problems.

    5. I have read that some problems with Windows 7 search can be solved by changing a registry key (http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-fix-windows-7-search-problems/) but when I navigate to the folder in my registry, only following three keys are here (not the one mentioned in the difficulty):

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\ {0B2BAAEB-0042-4DCA-AA4D-3EE8648D03E5}
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\ {36011842-DCCC-40FE-AA3D-6177EA401788}
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderTypes\ {59BD6DD1-5CEC-4D7E-9AD2-ECC64154418D}

    A couple of things, I said - if I create a new word document and save it, Windows Search seems to immediately get back on it and is able to find. I also noticed that at first when I opened one of the word documents that have been transferred over the old PC and then closed it again, Windows Search picked up on it and could find it. So I went to try to open and close then all of my documents (an arduous task...), but the subject to halfway through Windows Search has ceased to be able to find them.

    All Word documents using Microsoft Word 2007 in .doc or .docx format, although the problem also applies to Excel, PDF and image files, so I don't think that the problem is with the word itself.

    I have tried everything I can think so far, including all the solutions, I could see suggested in previous discussions. I really need the search function working to effectively use my laptop so that any help would be welcome!

    Thank you, Jack

    Santosh thanks, I checked the permissions for the appropriate files and SYSTEM was present, which doesn't seem to be the problem. However, I found a solution that might work for other people are having the same problem.

    I noticed that if I changed the location of the files, Windows search suddenly seems to become aware that they existed and then indexed and followed them correctly - even if they were subsequently moved back to the original location. I just created a temporary folder outside my library of documents and then each subfolder in the folder my documents him and then come back, one by one. It was a bit laborious but the problem solved - I know not why it worked, but all the old files are now indexed and appear correctly when you use Windows Search, and it seems not to have any problems, follow-up of the newly created files.

    Cheers, Jack

  • write in a txt file in the /res folder

    At the start of the application, I read a text from the folder /res file using:

    InputStream is = this.getClass().getResourceAsStream("/myfile.txt");

    How can I write back to the same file?

    I've seen many examples explaining how to write a file, but I wonder what would be the path to update a file which is depolyed with cod in the /res folder.

    Background information:

    • The file contains the default configuration for the application.
    • When the application starts, it reads in memory.
    • The app then made HTTP call to get the configuration changes we've made since the last time it was opened.
    • I want to save these changes to the file so it picks up them there the next time that the application starts instead forcing him to shoot from the web every time.

    Confirmed.
