application Set Association

When I try to open attachments in my email, I get an error message saying there is not a program associated with the message and go put together in my control panel.  What does this mean and how do I fix this problem.  The attachment ends in .pdf format.

The above program is needed to read the .pdf attachments you receive.
You have the correct program installed for other programs need to read also other attachments.

And the file Association should be set.
File Association setting up information is downstairs.

·                         need .doc or .docx Word or a Word Viewer for playback file extensions, etc, etc.
.xls Excel need.
need for .pps PowerPoint
