Apply SP3 to sp3.cab manually instead of using Windows Update?

The original installation software of my PC included only Service Pack 2.  I used the update to upgrade my machine to SP3.  It took a lot of time (about 90 minutes).  What I would like to know... are the installation of SP3 files downloaded to my machine in a format that would allow me to run the update manually without going through Windows Update.  I found the SP3.cab file on my machine... but it isn't but 22.7 MB while updating told me that the download was (if I remember correctly) 66 MB approximately.  I don't want to download the full blown sp3 (314 mb) and I would like to avoid having to use Windows update to update my machine the next time I have to rebuild this machine.  Any suggestions on the best way to do it?

22 Sp3.cab MB isn't the whole update file, AFAIK. It is not yet a complete file.

My advice would be to let Windows Update to install SP3 if you do want to installation offline.

  • SQL * Server 2008 SP1 applied but still tries to download and install from Windows Update

I installed SQL * Server Express 2008 portable and applied the SP1 update. This shows that when we look at the programs/updates from Control Panel and management console confirms the 10.1.2531 version is running.

Whenever I use windows update service pack is listed as needing to download / install - the same KB968369 is given as a reference. I ran it a couple of times, but the update is indicated as unique every time.

Any ideas how to solve this problem?

  • Vista do not install SP1 by using Windows Update (do it manually)

    Hello

    Revised.

If you have a Vista without SP1 and 2, DO NOT listen to Microsoft technicians and use auto update / windows update / microsoft update (until after you have installed SP1 & SP2).

My recent experience and other posts, it won't work.  Manually download Vista SP1 and SP2 for Vista and install manually (SP1 first).  I lost hours with updates auto that I didn't need and made a mess.

    Vista SP1

    Vista SP2

    You must both SP1 first

Read below if you want the details.  Thank you

I just made a custom cleaning of a perfectly fine using a DVD of Vista Utilmate XP machine.

After installation, he made the automatic updates ~ 106 and is now stuck on Vista SP1.

Updates keep offering it, downloading, but I can not install.  About 5 or 6 times now.  It will take me to the user agreement, and after that I agree that it is said installation will take some time, but it never loads.  I had once an error message indicating I needed IE 8, but when I downloaded for XP/Vista, I got the error that IE 8 does not work on my system.

I have just downloaded maually SP1 and SP2 machine, try to install, but MS it not recommended to some BS something and I would give them $189.  I was hoping someone might have an idea on how to get the auto update function to work to see if my manual Visat SP1 and SP2 (extract from the official MS site) may work 1.  MS supports was no other real help that they suggested to purchase Windows 7 at Wal-Mart, but I don't think that the old machine is worth 86 dollars.  They shouldn't tell you online they will be support for vista until 2017, then try to charge you once you've invested time in it.  They can even do it on purpose (not technicians, but the management).

If you are reading this, thank you for your support.

  • New update for Win 7 32 - bit XP - Windows Update will not, so have to do manual updates - that need me?

I updated from XP to 7 Edition Home Premium in mid-March and have tried since then to run Windows Update, but I get the ubiquitous endless "check updates". I spent hours trying all of the fixes I could find (and understand) with no luck. So I decided to just manually download at least the critical updates, but I have no idea of what updates I need. I have Service Pack 1 and my system is 32-bit. I have 13 updates installed that I downloaded and installed in March because they seemed like it might be useful (I don't remember what most of them were for the moment), but I stopped here because I really didn't know what I was doing, or what I needed and I went back to try to fix Windows Update , but I gave that up. So, does anyone have a list of updates I should keep Windows 7 works correctly? Or should I say to hell with it and download Windows 10? I know my time is short if this is my best option. Any thoughts, advice, ideas, help welcome.

It is not too hard to do. The value of the automatic updates to "never check updates" and then restart Windows. Download and install KB3020369 and KB3161608.
