apply text styles to chained text frames

Hello.

I went 2 blocks of text in order to have 1 text that flows from the first to the second.

I noticed that now I can't edit or apply new styles of text... is this true?

Thank you

You will need to manually select the text if the frames are threaded.

    Hello

    Currently I have an AppleScript script to fill a block of plain text with a series of chains:

    say MyTextFrame to define (content of the history of the mother) to MyText1 & MyText2 & MyText3 & MyText4

    I would like to apply a different style (MyStyle1 to MyStyle4) for each of these channels (MyText1 to MyText4).

    Precision: MyTextI strings can contain a word or a paragraph or more, so I can't apply a style to a paragraph, for example.

  • Clicking on a paragraph Style does not apply text Style

    I just switched from a PC to a whole new MacBook Pro (OS x 10.7 Lion), and InDesign CS5.5 bought. I use CS4 on a PC for a few years and had no problems. For some reason, I can't apply Styles to paragraph by moving my cursor in the text and clicking the paragraph style. It highlights the style clicked for a while and then goes to value all styles, but does not apply the changes. The only way I can apply a Style of paragraph right now is click with the right button on the style and selecting 'apply... '. "in the menu dropdown. It is very curious. I was wondering if anyone had experience with this. I also have Microsoft Office: Mac 2011 installed on the laptop, if it makes a difference to anyone. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I dial and change my life, and this problem slows me down a bit.

    Right on any of the third party plug-ins. It was actually 'good Zoom '. A third-party application that corrects some native zonky zoom behavior for Mac. I disabled it, and it has cleared up the problem. It's pretty strange, however, isn't it? Thanks for your help!

  • Extending column on does not because text frame columns go 2-1 repeatedly to the same file.  the fix?

    The problem: I want to have a title of subchapter on two columns of text on a page.  In two different places in the file, subchapter headings cover 1 single column of text.

    Details: The usual and desired text formatting setting is for two columns on a page.

    I have an ID cs6 file which, in two places, has a block of text change of 2 columns to 1.  Two columns of text are present on the page throughout the whole layout, so the file seems to be the formatting that I intend, but there's a glitch.

    When the section headers cover two columns, text frame options tell me I have 2 columns, just as he seems to have.  When the section headers will not cover the two columns, text frame options tell me that I have only 1 column. (but has two columns on each page.) Apparently two individual images side by side instead of an image divided into two columns.)

    The 2 columns in a 1 + 1 frame frame frame is changed across a page break.  I have two places where it appears. We're close to the front of the queue, and then the layout comes again 1 text block to 2 columns.  The last 5 pages are 1 + 1 framework framework side by side.

    If I try to define two columns where the formatting of the text frame tells me there is 1, it divides the column 3.5 inches in two columns (which would then give me 4 columns on the same page, by dividing the four columns that you want 2 columns int.)

    I tried to copy the text of the last 5 affected pages, deleting pages and paste formatted text, or even formatted.  No improvement.

    What should I do to tell the program that two blocks of text side by side or 2 columns in an image.

    One more detail: I have a paragraph style that holds the Chronicle spanning selected choice.  It should work if the style of the text with the paragraph style.  This is where the text block options see 2 columns, but now if she sees a.

    I entered the text at different times. I loaded it curson and use shift - click of the mouse to make the text paste and continue to add pages as needed.  Instructions in a few books that I give slightly different key combinations to do this in Windows.  Method to insert text that it would be the problem here?

    Thank you

    To?

    If I understand correctly, some pages contain two frames - the remaining frame remove the second image (assuming that all frames are threaded), resize, apply two columns.

  • Apply the style at the top of the frame

    Hi all

    I put about 150 pages of continuous text in a Word doc.  The doc is constantly changed and whenever I set it to create a project, there is a different placement of words, which is fine.  The page size is also different in Word and InDesign, I might add.

    There is a B head paragraph style in InDesign that is allowed to occur anywhere.

    The problem is that when the head B occurs in the middle of a text frame, it must have a top rule.  But when it lands on top of a block of text, it cannot have a rule above.  Is there anyway to use GREP or script or something so that InDesign can identify when this style occurs in the upper part of the block of text, and have it use the style without the rule?

    I can't give the present advance in Word as the layout is totally different, once placed in InDesign.  And it's a bit of a pain for all find and adjust by hand whenever there are about 40 of them.

    Thank you very much!

    Sorry about that. This one should work:

    var myOriginalStyle = app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles.item("Body Head A")
    var myFinalStyle = app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles.item("Body Head A No Rule")
    var myStory = app.selection[0].parentStory;
    var myP = myStory.paragraphs.everyItem().getElements();
    for(var j = myP.length -1;j>=0;j--){
        var myTF = myP[j].parentTextFrames[0];
        if(myP[j].appliedParagraphStyle == myOriginalStyle && myTF.paragraphs[0] == myP[j])
        myP[j].appliedParagraphStyle = myFinalStyle
        }

    The script will change only the paragraph style, if the paragraph which has "Agency A" applied starts at the beginning of the text block (in other words, not if it has several lines and the first line starts inmiddle of the previous image).

  • mount the text frame

    If installation (Cmd + Alt + C) text the text frame moves to the upper left corner of the text block. Is there a simple way to change this?

    You may need to explain why this is unexpected.

    By design, (if we agree with the design decisions or not), the resize frame is "pinned" top. When it contains left-justified text it to "attach" in the top left. Center-justified pins at the top in the Center and justified to the right pin at the top right... but it's always TOP... regardless of the applied vertical justification. I don't think it can be changed.

  • How to return individual characters in a text frame.

    I have some just text, with follow-up has decreased so that they overlap and size of every second letter slightly different to not merge paths.

    I would like the 1st letter to be on top, without breaking everything in the individual text blocks, and I don't want to vectorize all.

    I uploaded a picture describing my question in detail.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you

    Tim

    Ok. Here a slightly advanced version.

    You must not assign your text BACK forward; the script will format all of the text in the history of RTL.

    The text block rotates 180 °.

    All characters rotate 180 °.

    Scripting language is ExtendScript (JavaScript) for InDesign. Should be compatible with CS5, CS6 and CS5.5, CC.

    Not compatible with CS4 or below.

    try{

    var textSelection = app.selection[0];

    //ENHANCED FEATURE SET:

    //Rotate characters (does only work on paragraph level?!):
    textSelection.paragraphs.everyItem().characterRotation = 180;

    //Apply WorldReadyComposer to all paragraphs of selection:
    //CS5, CS5.5, CS6 and CC compatible
    textSelection.texts[0].paragraphs.everyItem().composer = "$ID/HL Composer Optyca";

    //Set all characters of selection RTL:
    textSelection.texts[0].paragraphs.everyItem().keyboardDirection =
    CharacterDirectionOptions.RIGHT_TO_LEFT_DIRECTION;

    //If you want to edit the text later in RTL this is also necessary:
    textSelection.texts[0].paragraphs.everyItem().characterDirection =
    CharacterDirectionOptions.RIGHT_TO_LEFT_DIRECTION;

    //Rotate the text frame to 180°:
    textSelection.parentStory.textContainers[0].rotationAngle = 180;

    }catch(e){alert(e.message);exit()};

    Tested with InDesign CS6 v8.0.2 under Mac OS x 10.6.8.

  • New text frame settings

    Hi, I have an Indesign file. When you create a new text frame defaults to...

    Fonts: Helserif

    Size: 9.5pt

    Attack: 12.047pt

    Also, the text is printed to line up on the starting grid.

    This isn't the standard paragraph style settings and paragraph styles standard is the single paragraph style in the document.

    This occurs if you add a new block of text in the document on any Mac as well as on Indesign Server.

    I know how to change the text and if I go to paragraph styles and select standard paragraph and then all new blocks of text created is the default 12pt times which is not line up on the starting grid.

    But I need to know how it goes in the first place that you can have some settings for new text frames added to the document on any computer and these new blocks of text have no paragraph style, but have custom settings.

    Thanks in advance, Tim

    You talk about InDesign default setting.

    If you want to set the font family, size, etc. for text when you create a new document, perform you the settings with no document open ("Document No." State). With the blank screen in InDesign, select the text tool. On the Control Panel, set the font family, size, etc. you want. When you create a new document, those who will be the defaults for all new documents that you create when you create a block of text.

    If you want to set default values for a document that you have already created, uncheck everything. Then choose the text tool and set the font, the font size family. When you make a new block of text in this document, it will use the settings that you created in this document.

  • problem of text frame

    Hello indesigners.

    I opened an indd and when I do a text frame, when I start typing im get this pink opaque color my text along as I type.im looking at the character, paragraph styles, but it is not associated with the text.

    What could this be? Thank you.

    upload-to-adobe.jpg

    Pink means you have a missing font. Select the text tool and put in place a policy that you have before you create a text frame.

    To test if a block of text is linked to another, use the nextTextFrame and previousTextFrame:

    if (myFrame.nextTextFrame === null && myFrame.previousTextFrame === null) {
      // the frame is not linked to another frame
    }

    Background color: myFrame.fillColor

  • Place of InDesign in problems of text frame

    WARNING I use InDesign only once or twice a year and google more steps.

    I made a model of 5 column in master pages to place the coordinates for about 1500 in a membership directory.  Starting from I lived adjustment type according to the needs and the info. Everything was fine until the last page, when the type was inserted columns reduced to a fraction of the page.

    I tried to adjust the size of the text area, over the walks etc, nothing works. I took a screen when help to explain. CS6 using any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Trial and error, figured it out.  I have over rode the master, turn off automatic size in text frame options, and was able to resize.

    Hi Johngjudy,

    Did you use a system font in the text box. If Yes, then try using a web Form or standard font and it works perfectly.

    Kind regards
