  1. You want to know if it is possible to use vSphere 5 free on the host computers and manage this host using vCenter (charges apply).
     I'm currently not sure and assume that it is not covered in the license agreement for the free vSphere 5.
  2. You also wanted to know if it is possible to drive your without client vSphere vSphere hosts.
     Well, on vSphere 5 free, does not allow vMA for "write" for guests. So use withouth of some hacks and cheats sooner or later, you will need to the vSphere Client to manage the guests on your host computer.
     If you want to avoid the vSphere on your desktop/laptop client, you could install vSphere client on one of your guests on the vSphere host.

• 2 power supply: voltage increment on one when the current research on the other?

  OK, so I work with 2 power supplies E364X Agilent. I have a unit with a door and drain that I do apply power. With the door I am applying 1.5V & .3a current limit, the drain I do a request 9.5V & 1 has current limit. What I'm trying to do, is to increase the tension of the door while controlling the current Drain and have the increments to stop when the Drain current comes down to .5A +/-50mA. I guess I kind of two questions. I use a state machine, the first iteratino defines the PS for the desired parameters (works fine), the next two iteration is supposed to accelerate the Power Supply Gate Voltate with small increments, check the current reading of power drains to see if it falls in the interval given, otherwise the increase continue, check again and so on... I'm having a problem with the part of increment as well as checking for the current game. I was thinking maybe I need to use a flat sequence or something along that line. Any help would greatly be apprecaited

  For #1 supply, you should just have the voltage itself inside the loop.    It would probably not hurt thanks to additional error checking just in case (you can then give up if there is an error).  The rest can probably not stay outside the loop.

• upgrade to vCenter on new server

  We currently have:

  A: Server vCenter current 5.5 with database on server b.

  Server B: vCenter SQL database

  C: brilliant new server

  We would like to do:

  Server: old 5.5 vCenter (not in use, stop)

  Server B: Server SQL database vCenter (same database as before, just upgraded to 6)

  C: Server vCenter 6.x with the same database on server B as before

  So what we want to do is to simply install vCenter 6 on the new server and point it at the existing database during the installation. Can you let us know if it works please? Otherwise what paths are available for us please (installation of 5.5 to the new server, pointing to the existing database, and then in place upgrade to 6 for example).

  VCenter installation costs 6 and that it points to a DB vCenter previously used for 5.5 will fail with the error of the incompatibility of data base (daily if with VMware support)

  What you need to do is:

  Server c: fresh installation of 5.5

  Perform an upgrade on the spot of 5.5 to 6.0 using the external DB. The DB is automatically promoted to VC6 compatibility during upgrade on site.

• Vcenter came to Enterprise and standard hosts?

  IM pretty sure I know the answer to this but wanted to confirm before buying.  We currently have 5 Enterprise VMware esxi 5.5 host with Vcenter.  We add 3 hosts more but don't need DRS on them, so we do not believe that we need Enterprise Edition on them.  So I would go with the Standard edition for 3 new guests.

  Im sure that I can use my Vcenter current server to manage the hosts for Enterrprise and Standard, I just can't put my Standard hosts in the same cluster as the guests of the company.

  But I want to make sure IM right about that or do need me really another Vcenter server to manage the Standard hosts?

  I have vmware vcenter, which was installed in the device. My current version of vCenter is 5.1, it runs on a virtual machine. It has a few errors and I decided to install the new version 5.5 of the device and remove current. It seems easy to upgrade.

  I have also 3 servers in a cluster HA. It is very important for my business that do not stop the virtual machines in the cluster.

  If I delete the virtual machine vcenter current, to install again, with the same IP address as old and other parameters, it will create the cluster again? HOE it will have an impact on the VMS?

  Please help me.

  The virtual machine will not go down. they will function as they do now. After you add them to new vcenter and new cluster, you will be able to manage them centrally. so far, they work on their respective hosts.

• SNMP Configurations require vCenter?

  I am running vCenter on top a pair of cluster 2 ESXi hosts 4.1.0u3.  I have configured the Protocol SNMP configurations is vCenter to point to our appropriate receiver.

  A few questions come to mind with this, can someone enlighten me please!

• Update v4.0 to v4.1 vCenter

  Every afternoon

  Planning of a vCenter spend 4.0 to 4.1, and she wonders if it is the best way to go on this subject (and faster/easier).

  VCenter currently lives on a 32-bit SP2 Win2003R2 server called CDP-VC01. I am aware of 4.1 needs a 64 bit OS so called for the following:

  1 perform a full backup of remote SQL 2008 DB

  2. turn off current vCenter Server

  3 remove the AD computer account

  4 join new vCenter server under the same name (CCP-VC01), OS Win2008R1 SP2 64-bit

  5. install vCenter 4.0 (same version that was on the previous vCenter server).

  6 point to remote DB existing

  7. test all right and everything works as expected

  8 upgrade to new server vCenter vCenter as per http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1022104 article

  That would sound the best way to cut courses to vCenter 4.1?

  You are welcome.  After installing vCenter 4.1, you're inventory will come back just as it was before the upgrade.

  One thing I do during updates is to enable DRS to 5 stars.  What is happening, it of sometimes that upgrade triggered a lot of DRS events because the hosts are in States of the connection because the vCenter agent and upgraded agent HA.  Once all hosts are connected with happiness in the inventory, I usually return to our fully automated 3 stars.

• vCenter Server service does not start after you run Windows updates

  On a regular basis, my vCenter Server service fails to start after the automatic updates of windows are applied.  The vCenter server is a datacenter 2008R2 VM.

  The only other running applications are PerfectDisk and agents of ESET NOD32 - vCenter is in 4.1.  I tried to adjust the vCenter Server and WedAdmin service of delayed start, but that doesn't seem to make a big difference. The following errors are displayed in the case of the newspaper which lead me to think the issue is related to SQL:

  SQL Server is not ready to accept new client connections. Wait a few minutes and try again. If you have access in the error log, look for the informational message that indicates that SQL Server is ready before trying to connect again.  CUSTOMER:: 1

  The description for event ID 1000 from source VMware VirtualCenter Server can not be found. Either the component that triggers this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

  If the event is on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

  the message resource is present, but the message is not in the string/message table

• If I restore the presets for keyword it will destroy current keywords in all the catalogues?

  I'm working through Classroom in a Book and had to make a separate catalog for the lessons in the book. I'm at a party who is telling me to restore keyword presets, but when I'm ready to do that a warning window appears to ask me if I don't know that I want to do. I guess that it will scan keywords already created to restore keyword presets in the preferences. Is this true? If so, it will wipe away only keywords in the catalog in effect and will be the key words that I created for my main catalog safe? Where are stored the keywords? In the catalog or in the request for Lightroom?

  Restoration Keyword sets do not remove any existing saved games or remove keywords from your list of keywords. It has the only purpose to restore or to give you (have they been removed) three sets of keyword supplied with Lightroom (photography outdoors, Portrait Photography and wedding photography). Nothing is destroyed when you use this option. The screenshot below is an example, and you will find that it contains 9 predefined keywords (9 being the maximum in any game).

  

  The keyword list is stored in the catalog, but you can export it to a text file (metadata > menu to export keywords). In fact, it's a good idea to export a copy just in case you accidentally delete it or part of it from Lightroom.

  As for the restoration of the keyword lists, restore the other presets is used to you puts one of the built-in presets you may have removed. Restore does not remove everything you may have created.

  In general, the Presets and templates are Global by default. However, you have the possibility to store with the catalogue (see Presets Panel in the preferences).  Crop presets are still stored in the catalog. Only global presets/templates are available for all catalogs. Storage of patterns presets with a catalog puts them in a folder in your catalog folder.

• Unable to add permissions to user AD

  Hello

  I use VMware Vcenter Standard 5.0

  and if it was configured with AD, but now when I search for a user (when adding permissions) I get the following error

  Call "UserDirectory.

  RetrieveUserGroups 'to object 'UserDirectory"on vCenter Server 'Vcenterservername.domainname.local' failed."

  I do not know I did something wrong somewhere and I was hoping if anyone can me as how to solve this thank you!

  BTW, people can still whit thin connection their AD accounts and permisions them existing are always applied, I can't currently add now permisions.

• Authentication with VMA AD

  Environment: We are in transition to ESXi 4.1 and I work through the differences regarding how the hosts will be managed. I am in charge of outlining the process for the rest of my group. We have been using the Service Console and currently share the root account. We prefer to not have any account shared (AD or other) to allow changes to the system to be monitored and linked to a specfic user. I was hoping that this would allow the passage at the VMAS.

  I understand vSphere CLI is an option, but for our environment, the VMA is the most logical choice for the day-to-day management day. I have the latest version of deployed VMA, I added to the AD, have added my AD and suceessfully ESXi hosts those targets added to VMA using different authentication options.

  Goal: Track changes to individual users. Ideal to daily management would go like this:

  (1) all my hosts are already added to VMA.

  (2) Engineer connects to the VMA. I guess it has tio be "vi admin", but in this case I could live with it if necessary.

  (3) now when they try to set a target host, he was invited to the credentials of the AD.

  ... I think I checked this present... Here I'm fuzzy...

  (4) now once on the host, if they need root access on the same elevated level, I think that they still need to su - and provide the root password. I'd rather be able to give at the root of credentials AD level permissions but I don't think it's possible?

  If I have to use the root, I could live with that as long as I follow the AD user who initiated the su - to this host (again, the goal is to be able to track changes made to the individual user rather than just the root).

  This can easily be accomplished by setting the appropriate permissions to AD in vCenter and settign by users in the right-wing groups. From there, they will login to vMA using their AD credentials if vMA is related to your AD. From there, if they have the right permissions, they will be able to run the esxcfg-* commands, they shouldn't run any operation as root. I have that they will also apply authenciate hand vCenter versus goes directly to the host, it allows centralized management of users and transactions can be saved via syslog in vMA.

• Problem syncing with iPod Nano

  I have an iPod nano 3rd generation. He stopped properly syncing with iTunes. I have the latest version of ITunes and Windows 10. It is always synchronized automatically before. The computer recognizes the iPod and it's synchronization on iPod, but not on the computer screen. None of the songs I bought on iTunes since it began have been added to my iPod. I also noticed that new Playlists, I added to iTunes also syncs.  Maybe it's the same cause.  I appreciate your help. I'm nervous about what he is going to erase my iPod and then Resync.  I don't want to end up with nothing on my iPod!  I spent hours trying to understand, without a bit of luck. Thanks a lot for your help!

  One thing to check is the parameter to sync music on settings of music from the iPod screen.  Here is a screenshot showing the screen.

  

  Perhaps the box sync music got disabled for some reason any.  If it is not checked, the iPod is currently set to manually manage the music.  It will always 'sync' when it is connected, but the content does not sync automatically. However, existing content on the iPod.

  NOTE: If you change this setting (and apply) Sync music is currently not checked, all the songs on the iPod that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.

• OR USB-6229 unused outputs floating

  Hello!

  I have a DAQ NI USB-6229 map and I want to generate a current (I use shunt resistors) and inject it into a resistor network. While doing this I also want to measure 6 potential to a few nodes on the network. This procedure is then repeated four times, and for each new set of measures, I want to change the current node injection.

  I managed to make a flat sequence version that works sort of "semi-automatic", that is. I manually move the connector for the injection of current corn,

  now I would like to program to do this for me. The problem I face then is that I have to connect to all channels of analog output to my network and I can't make it floating. So I need to get the voltage on shunt temporarily "unused" zero resistance and make them floating. I was thinking of doing a while loop which regulates the voltage, but then how to leave the loop everything with it regulate the voltage?

  Is there maybe a solution to this problem?

  If all of your applied voltages, including tensions applied to generate the currents I1 and I2, are positive, you can then use diodes to rpovide isolation.  You are already set up to measure the tension, it should be possible to offset decreases of voltage diode.

  Another approach would be to exploit the tensions in potentiometric mode to make zero currents. Let me define some terms using your diagram: V1 = voltage applied to create the current I1. V1n = input to the network in the I1 circuit voltage when I1 current circulates. Of the law of Ohm I1 = (V1 - V1n) / Rshunt.  Similarly V2 and V2n refer to tensions related to the current I2.  To define the I2 = 0, V2 = V2n.  Of course the tension to V2n will depend on the voltage and current elsewhere in the network.

  To join the operation points you want will require an iterative process.  Consider the case where I1 = 1 and all other currents are zero.  The procedure might look like this:

  1. apply the V1. Set all tensions to zero.

  2. measure the V1, V2, V1n, V2n...

  3. calculate all currents.

  4 calculate all voltages to change the values you want, using the assumption that tensions n V [i] do not change.

  5 connect the calculated in step 4.

  6 repeat step 2 until the new tensions calculated in step 4 are close enough to the values of the previous iteration.

  If the network is linear, but the values are not too extreme, it will probably work.  If it is not the case, you may need to scan the network to see if its admittance matrix is singular, or the range of values is too broad.

  A state machine would be a good program architecture to implement an algorithm like that.
