AppSync with shared network Thinapps

A few questions about Appsync with shared network applications.

I have 5 Windows XP systems that install everything to run the thinapp (Office 2007 Std) from the network share. In the package.ini I put the thinapp to check an update every time it launches, do not know if it is better, only to set it there so I could control the start of the update. I created a new version of my thinapp with some modifications, including activation of Powerpoint, which was not initially enabled. I then pushed the new version in the directory specified in AppSyncURL in the package.ini and then ran the thinapp one of 5 systems. I looked at the updated thinapp (via the new file in the directory creation) but it seems to be stopped once the new files have been copied, I assumed it was because the other guests were linking the same thinapp, so I closed the thinapp on all 5 systems and reopened on one, after a few minutes that the update has been completed, including the activation of PowerPoint. When I ran the thinapp on other systems of all the new changes came with the exception of PowerPoint being activated. I guess that's because the thinreg update portion was only executed on the original system which began the update. My reasoning is correct? Would be the best way to solve this problem, configure something in a login script or a GPO to re-run thinreg necessary?

Next part of surpass push to use thinapp was to save space, we intend to use it with VDI images gold hopfully have a SAN reduced foot print as migrate us our users in general for physical machines to VMS. Currently, we don't have a policy that requires users to disconnect during the night, normally when you deploy updates from traditional applications a message is sent by the app said the world team to make sure and disconnect. While we still might do in the future with thinapp hoping updates be more transparent for the user. But based on the above test it looks that updates will not fully applied to a set until all users are out of this.

While this logic sence I want to just make sure I'm not missing something, is there a better way to update the shared applications? Or I'll better just install them locally on the machine, possilbly as part of a gold statue.

Hi Roybfr,

I want to share my knowledge on App Sync with the same example with which you asked the query. I will answer your questions in 2 sections. One for the process of AppSync and other for VDI computers desktop and thinapps residing on them.

Section of AppSync: -.

1. If you have desktop Thiinapped 2 k 7 kept one a network share and the version update of office 2 k 7 (which has been configured to enable the PowerPoint) stored on the Web server.

2. you have 5 office machines.

3 suppose that you launch the thinapp 2 k 7 on the desktop sharing network 1.

4. once launch you the thinapp 2 k 7 Desktop 1, appsync process is launched and the .ase files are named and has started, updated on the network share.

5. in the middle of the appsync process which began by launching the 2 k 7 packet on the network share, stop the appsync process by closing the exe launched from Office 1.

6. now launch the 2 k 7 on the network share from office 2. Once you launch the office 2 k 7 2 office package, AppSync process is started from when he was arrested and not from the beginning.

7. let all to update completely .ase files until they become the size of thinapped version updated, maintained on the web server.

8. now do not revive the thinapped 2 k 7 2 office package.

9. If you launch the thinapped 2 k 7 exe on the network share from office 3 you will get the message to update Appsync (that you defined in the file package.ini) and now the version update of office 2 k 7 will be launched. This means that now the network share has the version update of office 2 k 7.

10. now, if you launch the office 2 k 7 on the network share Desktop 4 and 5, you will get the updated office version.

11 but to get the same version of update to office 1 to disconnect, and then start the 2 k 7 packet on the network share

12 office 2 stimulus package on the network share and you'll get the version update of office 2 k 7

Conclusion: -.

1. AppSync can be initiated by the launch of the thianpp on the network sharing of any of desktop computers

2. once the AppSync is completed, the new version will be available (.ase will be converted into the updated version .exe) by raising the exe thinapp on the network share from the Office where the Appsync initiated or simply launch the exe thinapp by the remaining workstations where the thinapp on the network share was never launched.

3. the configuration you made on the updated version is maintained on the web server will not pulled / available on the network share if the appsync is successfully completed.

4. If you want a specific configuration to be part of your update to Thinapp (which is stored on the web server, and pulled on the network share), you must use the "SbMerge" utility to make the configurations as version stored on the web server to update the part of you.

5. Thus, create the updated version of the Thinapp, check the necessary configurations, apply overwhelm and rebuild the updated version of the thinapp. Then copy it to the web server. And then start the process of AppSync.

  • Error with deleting the PDF file opened in preview only pane on the shared network drives

I have a problem within Windows Explorer, I file open with say dozens of PDFs I have the preview pane open so I can tell what was on the pdf file selected without fully open. After you have determined whether I need it or not, I'd go for delete the file. However, with the file selected and preview pane, you can not delete the file gives an error message saying: the file is already open and cannot be deleted.

I found that this happens on users with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 machines at my place of work with different versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat. Main versions being Acrobat 9-10, drive DC 15. Also only on the product on shared network drives, local hard drives are not the issue.

Also, I installed another PDF reader and do not have the same problem if I put it in the default PDF Viewer. Leads me to believe that the problem is with the Adobe programs and non-Windows. I want to continue to use Adobe since I have a lot of licenses of Acrobat. Turn off the preview pane is not an option for my end users, since the amount of PDF files that they go through in a day is quite high.

    Please notify.

I'm sorry. I'm all out of suggestions. There may be others somewhere that I saw but patches are usually

1 turn off the preview pane

    2. use shift-delete

    3. remove the drive and use another pdf reader

Seems that MS and Adobe have a hard stop at this time. And as I mentioned earlier, we had this problem on our drives to network with other files. Even the products Ms.

  • reconnect the stall network of shared network variables

I have a cRIO unit communicates with a laptop using shared network Variables, one of them being a table of 21 index which is buffered.

The system connects and communicates very well, but sometimes the wireless laptop card is to lose the signal from the WAP, attached to the cRIO.

In this case the network never shared Variables "reconnect" and start to receive values still once the wireless link is restored.  Is this expected behavior?

When I tried to use other WAP industry instead of the card laptop wireless, I get no abandonment.

    Hello Ryan,

Please contact National Instruments!  I looked into the problem you are having and I wanted to ask you a few questions more.  First of all, you have a period of time which allows the reconnection?  I believe that the Shared Variables should find the connection after a short period, but it may not be a very quick process.  It may take a few minutes to the Variables shared to reconnect.

The other thing that could happen is if you have error son being passed by shared Variables, it is possible that the error is not be deleted, and so he will always see the error and not a so never reconnect.  In this case, you will need to filter this error and then clear the error in order to use again shared variables.

If you have more specific information about your program that can help us to determine the reason for this behavior.  As a screenshot of your code would be useful.  Please let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to help you.  I hope this helps!

Since you have a Windows 7 computer too, the network must be configured take into consideration.

    Maybe this can help.

The following looks like a long history (it's only 600 words). I know not what is knowledge of the user, and exactly what has been done already. The info go through the motions of the configuration and verify most of the common aspects of the LAN Windows OS features '.

    ----------------------

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

Please Note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled).

If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

  • HP LaserJet 2820 - shared network - unrecognized drivers

Yes I have exactly the same problem. with a HP color laserjet 2820 ps that I have connected to a vista pc I just bought for my office. my xp pc is the only old and so that connected through my vista pc. I tried almost everything I can think of and that the printer has initially been connected to this computer in any case I can tell you that the drivers are installed and working, just to be sure I downloaded the latest drivers for this printer in any case for the xp machine. I can see the printer on the network, but when I try to connect to it through the network I get these messages:

"you are about to connect to a printer on the network, which will install a driver on your machine, drivers may contain blah blah etc etc of the virus you want to continue? YES

"the server for the HP Color Laserjet 2800 Series PS printer didn't print driver installed. If you want to find the right driver, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel and contact your network administrator or the OEM of origin for the printer driver. "Well

Then displays a locate box printer driver manually. I link to the drivers that I downloaded on the internet (I have now about 5 different ones, including those on the cd supplied with the printer to try).

ERROR: Windows cannot locate a suitable driver. Contact your system administrator, locate a suitable driver for installation.

I tried other things, I thought that perhaps the network name, it has been shared with vista would be a problem, because it contains spaces, so I changed it to one word "printer." Uh, that's really all I can think of to try. Don't try and tell me to connect differently because I tried to add a local printer with drivers. I tried accessing it on the other computer, and then click on connect and I tried to connect using the------------ all take me to the same point where I find the non-existent drivers are nonexistent lol ;)

I also called HP hotline service and got the answer "we do not recommend it be configured this way on 2 operating systems. They recommend the microsoft appeal as it has to do with operating systems. There is no way that I can spend the other computer for vista as it doesn't have the elements to manage vista.

So yes, I just tried to give you as much information as I can here, and don't forget all the things I've tried so if you guys can resolve a solution here for me that would be fantastic. will not be able to meet here until later this arvo, but I you return and help you with any questions you may have.

Hi again. Sorry to take so long to respond but I had to go out of town.

By the printer connected directly to my router/switch with a network cable and share it on the network it has solved my problem. It's not exactly what I wanted to do, but it works fine now.
In the retreading process for those who have the same or similar problem. I have been unable to share my printer between 2 computers (one with vista edition full 64-bit, the other with xp 32 bit profession), whereas I had the printer plugged directly into one or the other by a USB cable. I use the model of printer is a HP color laserjet 2820 (printing scanning copy all-in-one).
And to put it on the network, I connected a network cable to the back of my printer on my router, then went to the printer and you press the menu button--> network--> TCP/IP settings--> set config IP to printers to the network (you can each be set to automatic but it did not work for me) then go to your computers and search for it in the printers section. Click "Add a printer" Browse for printer xp (vista found immediately) took some doing.
I tried with the drivers, that I had downloaded etc and they fine everything installed but I was unable to see the printer on the network. I uninstalled everything and then put the driver CD that came with the printer back and ran the installation one last time and at the end he said something like locate the printer on the network, which I clicked and Setup are the printer! so, basically, that's all. Only the problem with the installation of this way is you get a bunch of uselss HP programs, regardless if I'm just happy it works.
In any case, hope this helps someone. If you need to share how I've initially was trying to do (by usb to a computer). Try to connect the computer to your vista machine and get this working (drivers installed and you are able to print) then share it on the network. Then use you cd hp in the same way I did to locate the printer on the network. This will probably work, I just cbf try now, I have this job.
    See you soon,.

Disable the DHCP broadcast flag: link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928233

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756

(How to back up and restore the registry in Windows)

Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or some non-Microsoft DHCP servers

To resolve this issue, disable the DHCP BROADCAST flag in Windows Vista. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type regedit in the search box, and then click regedit in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\ {GUID}

    3. in this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network.

    4. on the Edit menu, point to new, and then click DWORD (32-bit) value.

    5. in the new area #1, type DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle and press ENTER.

6 right-click DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle, then click on modify.

    7. in the value data box, type 1 and then click OK.

    8. close the registry editor.

By setting this registry key to 1, Windows Vista's trying to get an IP address using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets. If that fails, he will try to obtain an IP address without using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets.

    Hope this information is useful.

Let me know if it worked.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

I'd look for an update to the carrier

Settings - carrier - it will pop up if available

And if there is none then speak to the carrier a replacement of the SIM card
