archives dvd quality

What is recommended for the best quality of archiving DVD?  I have photos of family on my computer and also backed up on an external hard drive.  I would like to put it on DVD as well.  You are looking for something that will record accurately and will last.

Thank you!

    Hi all

I'm new to editing and have recently been assigned to edit for my church sermons. I receive the images, trim, place the titles of message, and then create a DVD.

    Here's my workflow

1 take the video and convert to MP4 (.ifo or .dvd)

2 edit in Adobe Premiere elements 12 (I call it AP12 for short)

3 convert to MPEG and save

I do this for 3 separate sermons. Then I opened a new project and COMBINE all the videos edited to make a DVD. When the DVD comes out, it looks like exteremly poor. The video I change in AP12 seems great until I have move in AP12 once again do the complete DVD. I tried to make and it always seems the same; grainy and low quality. How can I fix it?

My apologies if I'm not detailed enough, it's all new, as I mentioned.

I'm on a deadline of 08/11/2013 so any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the follow-up. Your last post, I think this is the description of your source media that you import to the chronology of 12 items first.

    720 x 480

    4:3

    4495 Kbps

    29.97

If that is so, then please come (mini test run), the flow of work that I have proposed and we make known the results.

    a. open a new project

    b. immediately go to the file Menu/New/Project

    (c) in the new project dialog box, set the predefined project NTSC DV Standard.

    (d) before leaving the new project dialog box, make sure you have a checkmark next to the "Force selected setting on this project."

    e. back in the first elements 12 experts, import workspace you source media with add media/files and active file/project where you drag the media on the timeline.

Then, try two different products and see what they look like.

1 publish + share/Disc/DVD disc with preset to NTSC DVD Dolby.

2 publish + share/computer/AVI with the preset to DV NTSC Standard.

Then compare the quality of the player from the computer and DVD TV Player (1) on the quality of the AVI DV files (2) on the drive to the computer.

If I have misread the details of your please let me know before the test so that we can be synced to the proposed workflow.

    Thank you.

  • change in DVD quality for export in record 8.5 GB APE10

    Hello world

I have not found anything on the following problem:

I use APE10 and have done a 1080p50 video 16:9 of about 2 hours length.

When exporting to DVD (4.7 GB) file, I am not able to adjust quality settings. The quality of the final product is low and the DVD folder has a size of about 3.9 GB. When changing to the folder option 8.5 GB DVD output is always 3.9 GB. There is no option to adjust the flow of DVD, in order to use all of the 8.5 GB for better video quality.

I hope I could explain my problem well and are very happy to help.

Thank you very much and see you soon

    M.C.

The options you have for a DVD are the "Size to content available space" checkbox and slider (which is not active unless you uncheck the content adjustment). PRE automatically adjusts the flow.

    You don't understand who will lose quality by the downsizing of 1920 x 1080 (2MP) to 720 x 576)< 0.3mp).="" that's="" the="" nature="" of="" dvd="" standard="" definition="" v="" full="">

If you want to play video on a DVD as a commercial DVD player, this is your only option, but depending on what you're trying to do with the finished video, there may be higher quality solutions for you.

    See you soon,.

  • MPEG2-DVD quality

    Hello

I went to MPEG2-DVD and then that bringing in again to create a DVD disc. The quality I get is pretty good, but not outstanding. I noticed that in the menu of MPEG2-DVD, high quality preset option is 'medium '. Why no 'high' quality preset?

Since EI doesn't tell me what are the best settings, can someone here tell me what settings should I use to get the best possible quality of MPEG2-DVD release?

The highest quality of MPEG files require multi pass encoding. AE can't do that because a compression program must focus on more than one frame at a time.

If you want the best option you must be returned to a lossless format or almost without loss. Most of the time I use Quicktime Animation codec. Sometimes black magic 10-bit, other times Photo JPEG quality value. Only files takes again, DVD Studio Pro or a whole host of other programs for DVD encoding.

The only time where I never directly to the format MPEG of AE is when I need a very fast copy for a person to consider. Every time I make it render MPEG is configured as an additional output module. This can save a lot of rendering time. If the project is approved, the first rendering is already completed.

You can add multiple output modules as you want by clicking on the plus sign next to the Exit To:compName.mov on the stack to make. Here is an example:

  • DVD plays in the drop in quality after construction to dvd out yet?

    Hi all

I turn in HD DSLR video, change in first Pro CS6, link dynamic CS6 still where I build my menu dvd ect. and export/generation of DVD. But when play the DVD on a DVD quality seems smoking lower than the film original but also softer, almost as if a blur has been applied. When the object or the person in the video makes quick moments seem motion blurr so even when I shoot at faster shutter speeds.

I know I can get much better quality of output but can't seem to do.

    Help, please!

Ignore links dynamic and export from first to mpeg2-dvd with a preset.

You can change the baud rate upward.

Use Max rendering quality, no preview and no frameblending.

Time of export will be huge.

Import both files into the still, you know the rest.

  • Project settings of the AVCHD for a better quality of DVD

I used Pinnacle Studio Ultimate for the past five years with a lot of effects, transitions and rich text content.  I bought a Sony HXR-MC50U and recorded media are set at its highest potetial: AVCHD video format.

Pinnacle has done OK with my same old technical until 45 min length has been reached. I then had a lot of breakdowns of the system.  I know that I can transcode to the good old AVI, but I want to preserve the quality of the video at its highest level.

It is my first DVD of first Pro/Encore project.  Although I am new to the software, plugins Pinnacle are very similar and some are the exact same as hollywood fx plug-ins.  I realized the party edition as a piece of cake.  I'm stuck at the part of the project in again, so I'm here asking for HELP!

    System:

    Windows 7 x 64 professional

    Adobe CS4 Master Collection

    ASUS P8P67 motherboard

    Intel i5 2500 K 3.3 GHz O.C to 4.3 GHz

    16 GB of Ram GSkill DDR3 @2133

nVidia Quadro CX with 1.5 GB of Ram

WD Raptor 10 k RPM hard drive.

    850W PSU

Current project and procedure parameters, I followed:

1 - the project to create a new PR NTSC DVD HD

    2 - create new sequence: 1080i30 (60i) 1:1

    == > My AVCHD info: (24 Mbps) 1920 x 1080/60i 29.9 fps

3 - Importeded video of the internal hard drive and adding clips to a timeline...

    4. - applied Adorage plugin Transitions, double cropped video screen next to a few points, etc...

5 - created new sequence this time for securities and other display information

6 - imported clips AVI 720 x 480 resized to the size of the image and created securities within the PR

7 - new sequence to combine a total of 6 sequences with little video effects and about 1 hr 40 min length then added an audio track that overlap two or three short clips

8 - all projects registered and selected Dynamic Link: sent to the settings still Blu - Ray 1920 x 1080/60i

Once I got, I got a lot of 'fun' create a menu driven with 15chapters

1 - created new timeline, timeline sequence added

2 - created a new Menu and submenu and then published their text in Ps, rescued and return to en

3 - Motion video added button in the submenu... double button, total 5 buttons

4 - menu linked to all its sections corresponding, Next, Previous, hand Menu etc... In addition, background Audio croped on a length of the default value for the menu background video.

5 - check project... Checked them all very well... Previewed and works nice

6 - build the DVD Image, gave the image a name, selected directory and 'click '...

After several tries, I managed the menus to render correctly and no mistakes over this point.  If until then "transcoding failed.

I can make and PR, but the quality is considerably lowered.  The main reason I go to Pr is output as many on the final DVD-quality video possible.  I always create image to DVD using Pinnacle, first to save the blank media.  Then test the image and if it's OK I then burn with confidence.

I've updated to the latest versions available all my programs. Pr I ran as administrator to ignore my stuff from the operating system security.

It's been a long week and I hope that someone expert in Premiere Pro helps me understand this error.  I cannot transcode now, or build the project.  I get the same error: failure of transcode

I noticed a red line on the timeline on parts of my project in Premier Pro when adding double video (50 50 screens), transitions, or other video effects.

One last note, I save all my projects and final DVD Image to a server FTP of D-Link with drives mapped to my computer.  It is linked to a 10/100/1000Mps connection on my local network.  Pinnacle does not even notice that it is internal or network.  My read/write speed is the same or faster than hard drives internal: 40-60Mps... Change the folders on hard drive made no difference.

    First with a built-in mpeg2 dvd export.

    Import into Encore.

    Menu and export the image.

    See if this will help.

  • Camileo H10 - poor quality of HD videos

I was unfortunate enough to be fooled by the assertion that this camera is 720 p HD. OK I understand that it is a cheap camera, but it is supposed to be an HD camera at a low price. He have put up to take 720 p HD I've never seen this guff!

Image quality is worse than a standard DV camera, going even through my Toshiba HD TV with HDMI. White balance is catastrophic and to be honest, I think that Toshiba are scamming people with this toy camera. Why say HD sound when the picture quality is so poor. The question I have for Toshiba, it is how I get my money back?

It seems that I'm not the only person to have been fooled in this way! Toshiba Hey, if you're looking for a way to stop people you approve and the purchase of products on the basis of high quality, just release a camcorder 'High definition' terrible. That should do it! I have been ripped off. Look forward to a response.

    Hi mate

I'm old here in the forum and as a result, I know that this is a user to user forum... so if you need a Toshiba info you call a phone line or you can visit some points of service authorized in your country.

If you want to hear my opinion so, here you are:
Of my knowledge each cam supports different video settings.
According to some Web sites this cam should support the resolution of 1280 x 720 (HD), but it also supports of the resolutions below as 720 x 576 (DVD quality) or 640 x 480 (VGA quality) or 352 x 240 (CIF)

I think that you must ensure that you use the right resolution settings!

If you are not happy with this cam then you should talk with your dealer if you can get another product or a good...

  • Satellite A660 - 11 m - video DVD playback is quite grainy

    Hello.
Not so long ago, I bought this Satellite A660 - 11 m and I am extreemly happy with it. Graphics capabilities are perfect for my games.
One thing however, I noticed that the video playback is very grainy, especially with the DVD. I tried to use the best software like Cyberlink Power DVD DVD playback.
Is it possible that I can improve the clarity of the video and remove the adhering and afterimage?

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

  • WHILE the error is absent INSTALL WIN 7 I AM facing ISSUE is to say--a required cd/dvd drive device driver

    Hello Sir

I recently brought lenovo s20 nootbook laptop with win8.1. now I want to change it for win 7 but at the start of the process, I am faced with the question IE a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing error.

    Hi Kothalanka,

We are there to answer your concern about the installation process of Windows 7 .

Here are the following reasons why a required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing error message occurs:

    • The installation DVD is removed during the installation process.
    • A bad quality DVD has been used to create the installation DVD.
    • The speed at which the installation DVD is burnt was too fast.
    • The DVD drive cannot read media.
    • The ISO file is corrupted.

To resolve your concern, we suggest you use one of the following methods, depending on your situation:

    • Burn the DVD to install at a slower speed.
    • Best DVD quality to create the installation DVD.
    • Update BIOS firmware for your DVD player.
    • Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool allows you to create a bootable USB key and then use the USB flash drive to install Windows.

If you still encounter the same error after doing one of the above resolution, here are a few troubleshooting methods that you can do:

    • Run the DVD on another computer to determine if the DVD works properly.
    • Test your DVD player using a Windows installation DVD official.
    • Attach the ISO file to a virtual machine to verify if it is corrupted.

For more information on how to resolve the error a required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing , click here.

Do not forget to back up your files by using a storage device externally (for example USB, external HARD drive) before installing Windows 7 , in order to avoid any possible data loss.

Let us know how it goes.

    Kind regards.

  • Windows DVD Maker doesn't burn files .wmv/wlmp video high definition?

    Hey all,.

Long time user WMM, but with the recent switch to Win7, I'm having a hard time with WLMM.  In short, create the movie in WLMM is a snap.  Burn a DVD quality is another story.

I am using video clips high definition AVCHD from my new Sony CyberShot camera and showing the film on a Samsung 50 "720 p plasma.  If I burn a project WLMM created (Save Movie-> burn a DVD) and burn it in DVD maker, the quality is absolutely terrible on the plasma. It looks like an old VHS tape.  So, I guess the resolution 480 I saved is the problem.

So, if I save the project with high-definition (720 p - 1280 x 720) in WLMM and try to extract this file in Windows DVD maker, I get the error "0 files have been added.  1 file could not be added.  The \xxxxx\xxxxx\xxxxx.wlmp file is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported. "How is it possible that Windows DVD maker cannot burn a file created by its sister product Windows Live Movie Maker?  Am I missing something here, trying to extract a file to DVD Maker WLMM, or is it not possible?  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Just a thought...

. WLMP is only the Live Movie Maker file... what happens if you save

  • What is the best bit rate to use for files WMV to DVD?

I shoot with a low point and shoot digital camera.  I take the files AVI-video from the camera, which are quite large, and edit them in Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 and then save them as WMV files that are typically much smaller.  I like to create DVDs with better videos using Windows DVD creation or another program video.  My question is what bit rate to specify when I publish the films completed as WMV files?

My camera AVI files can be played in Windows Media Player.  They have little of rates which vary from about 3 Mbit/s to a little more than 5 Mbps.  Is STANDARD DEFINITION 640 x 480 VGA quality video.

Movie Maker default bitrate for the option "burn to DVD" is 2.99 MB/s.  I do not notice a difference in quality between the 2 MB/s I usually use and.  (I chose 2 Mbps, because in the past, I've used Windows Media Encoder and it defines "DVD quality" like 1-2 Mbps transmission speed and quality "HD" as 5 Mbps.)  Bit rates below 1 Mbps up to 500 Kbps have been defined as "Quality VHS" and below which has been 'QVGA quality'.

With important videos, I publish movies with a flow rate of 5 Mbps.  Default speed of movie Maker for videos "to be played on my computer" is 7.69 Mbps, but it's more than the AVI from the camera, then how is this possible?  How can save the file with a bit rate higher than the bit rate of the input file?

Is another experiment, a good way to decide on the rate of good bit for my projects?

  • DVD images are poor on the Widescreen TV

After successfully burned a DVD of the premier 11, the photos and videos are not too crisp/clear as when you look directly at the camera using a HDMI cable to a 50 "flat screen TV.

I suspect my Premier 11 parameters are not compatible or...?

I read a lot of messages and links to the FAQ pages, etc, but I still have a problem.

I hope someone can help me to straighten it the camera-live photos are sharp/clear/crisp, basically look GREAT.

    Camera: Sony DSC-HX - 30V

Part of the video: AVC HD 28 M (PS)

    Frame: 16:9 (13M)

Here's my process PSE/Pr11, settings, and related issues:

    1. all jpeg photos (Portrait AND landscape) have been simultaneously resized using process several files to 1000 pixels width and resolution = 300, before being imported in Pr11.

-Do I need to do pictures Portrait and landscape regardless? (Or has been good on the TV)

    -Is the correct resolution?

    2. a new project was created with:

    -Project Settings: Fame size = 1920 x 1080

    DV-NTSC Standard 48 kHz

-What are the correct settings for the output of my camera and my television viewing widescreen planned?

-: Preferences/general default scale to frame box UNCHECKED

-Preferences / Scratch disks: all THE paths have been recorded in 'Even as project' folder on an external hard drive.

    3. for troubleshooting, only 50 Photos and 1 video was put in active projects placed on the Timeline.  NOTHING else was done for simplicity in debugging this problem.

    4. opportunity to publish and share with the parameters:

    -DVD

    -NTSC_Dolby DVD

Net result: Photos not net and videos has ripples on the edges of the objects as well not as sharp as camera-direct in motion.

    5. it boil down I need a BluRay DVD player to get the images comparable to the connection of the camera-direct?

I'd appreciate help with each of the above items.

    DRM

It's a small world!  I have the HX9V which is almost the same as your HX30V.  I use the same settings.  I have the same software Version 11.  I share the goal of showing on a 50 "flat screen.  I have also recently visited to Zion, but screwed up my shot by experimenting with 3D!  I have much better footage of the Grand Canyon and Canyonlands this year.

What should I do for the new project to the point 2 above?

You want projects 1920 x 1080 for input and output for your TV flat screen of 1920 x 1080.

For my projects, make sure that I put at least a file video 1080 p 60 with photos.  My first item in the timeline will be this video for the project automatically sets for it.  I could do the new project screen and check the box 'force '.  The results are the same.  I can choose to delete the video file once the project is underway.  Last week I made a video for photos of women taken during a trip to Europe.  They were all still images.  I did a computer file to his computer.  Then I made a DVD and a Blu - Ray player for a friend who was on the trip.  DVD quality was disappointing.

I'll watch this thread with care because I'm still confused about resizing.  I did where I did no resizing and now works on a big where I'm resizing photo and video mixed projects.  I see no difference in performance or image quality on my computer.  For me, the resizing makes no difference, and from what I read here, it is necessary.

In my most recent effort, I resized huge from a different 1920 x 1080 Sony camera RAW files.  The files are smaller and I didn't see any difference in picture quality.  On some I wanted to use Pan & Zoom, so I added 50% for the two dimensions.  There is NO difference visible and functional at all.

I have a Blu - Ray burner.  On a family history project, I made of Blu - Ray discs and DVDs as gifts for family members who were interested.  There is no doubt that there is a significant difference.  Even playing on my Blu - Ray players with room rezzing, the DVD did not measure upward for the Blu - Ray.

There are two alternatives to achieve maximum quality on your TV, which have not yet been mentioned.  If you have completed the video is less than 20 minutes, you can burn a disc "AVCHD" in quality Blu - Ray on DVD at low prices with a normal DVD burner.  He will play on 'most' of Blu - Ray players.

The other is to produce a computer MP4 file high quality of your video.  Copy it into a 'USB key' and plug it into your computer or your Blu - Ray player.  Most recent most accept and play, especially if you export to 30 p.  One of my Blu - Ray players will play the computer file when they are copied on a DVD in a data file.  (No, this isn't the same thing as 'burn a DVD movie.)

If you want a few measures of workflow, I can be more detailed.  I can send you some samples via Vimeo or Dropbox if it helps.  Please post what you learn on resizing!

  • Length of the DVD images

I had who wants me to a 4.7 GB disc with nearly 3 hours of footage of the author. I've always avoided it before, because I think that more than two hours will include the DVD quality. In most scenarios, I use double layer DVD. However this project, to avoid as much as possible double layer because the glass for the replication master will the master DVD because it's a concert of music for sale. If the disc was written in double layer, there is a jump important price of the simple DVD layer, almost doubling. So in this case, we want to save some money while providing the best quality. Y at - there any setting I can try in yet who will give me good quality on a layer of skirts DVD?

    > settings I can try in yet

Personal preference (simply, I will not go across bit budgeting and manual encoding settings) I always export DV AVI of the body and were then still use automatic encoding to have the 'best' time adjustment size - vs-disc

With three hours, especially if the singer or others are running around the stage, you MAY be beyond what will fit with video quality on a disk single sided

Create a disc with automatic transmission or other settings that you choose... and let the band see the result

Also create a double disc layer so that they can see the difference

THEY decide to spend the additional sum of $ on the mastering process

  • 7 PE can't find my dvd burner.

I had some problems lately with my dvd Sony DRU-840 writer has. When I start and go to my computer, windows says its there but when I go into 7 EP and to burn a dvd, 7 EP cant find. I'm going back to my computer and now it reads like a cd player. I go to Device Manager and it says it is a Sony DRU-840 and the driver is the most recent. When I test with nero Sony software affected him tests very well. I don't know where is my problem. I wonder if anyone else has had this kind of problem?  I use a Dell 4700 Pentium 4 with 3 GB of ram and Windows XP service pack 3. It may have nothing to do with PE 7. any advice would be appreciated.

Video digital (DV - AVI) runs at about 12 GB per hour. DVD quality is obtained by compressing these data to adapt the media according to the MPEG standards. Blank DVD is 4.7 GB (single layer) 8.5 GB (double layer). A disc single layer holds about two hours of video, and a double-layer disc of four hours.

When you save in a folder, if you untick the box quality and move the slider to the highest quality, you can see if your film will fit using the higher transmission speed. If not then you need to lower the slider (or check the quality pre box to do it automatically).

    Essentially, you are:

    1. setting your target media (single or double layer).
    2. setting quality to make the better suited for that media.

Personally, I always burn to 8.5 GB file (this allows pre product is the best quality). If I then want to write a simple DVD project layer, I use "DVD Shrink" (freeware) of the do.

    See you soon,.
