Area connection icon gone: no Internet connectivity

Summary of the problem: No "Local network connection" icon in the "Network connections" folder No internet connectivity.

I recently attempted to get on a wireless network connection, but my computer was a 169.254.x.xxx IP address each time. To try to solve this problem, I entered the network connections folder and tried "Configuration of the home network or small office." I went through the steps and tried to configure the wireless. I then rebooted.

After the reboot, I opened my network connections folder to see that my Local network connection icon disappeared completely. When I plug a plug ethernet from my computer, the light just above the CAP does no more Flash.

When I bring the network connections folder, I see "Wireless network connection" and "1394 connection", but none of my Local network connections that were once there. I tried a system restore and tried the steps outlined on this page, but nothing helps:

Thank you for your help in this matter.

Hi ktkenshinx

As you said, and I understand it, it could be the problem of device driver. Please check the device driver and a device ethernet in the device for the operation Manager.

If the device driver is the problem. Install the device driver. SShrestha

  • Internet goes when you are connected to wifi

Bought an iMac on eBay this week, works fine apart from a problem I encounter with internet stall, which really starts to get boring!

It's an iMac, mid-2011, with OS X el Capitan 10.11.3 installed and put to update to the most recent update.

    The question...

When you are connected to our home network (Sky Broadband) I get internet access for 5 minutes for an hour then stop him internet but the wifi is connected. At this point if I check all other computers/phones/tablets on the network that they are all still connected to the internet with absolutely no problem.

    The temporary solution...

If I disable the wifi on my iMac and then back on again once it reconnects immediately and internet works fine still a time - until it stops!

    What I tried...

    Restart the mac repeatedly

    Restarted the router again

In network settings, advanced on the mac, I renewed the DHCP lease (loads of times - note it always seems to come back with exactly the same ip address - I guess it's good?), updated the DNS (last post I read said to use 2.4.4.2 so am currently on that), tried to manually set the MTU to 1453, I deleted all the other networks stored outside my home network Too much.

Does anyone have any suggestions please for all messages that have worked for them, or things that I could try?

Thanks a lot for your help

    Joe

Did you erase the internal drive and install OS X yourself? Did you run the hardware test? If this isn't the case, please do both.

  • WLAN speed when you are connected to the internet

I use WRT54G2 V1 Wireless Router. My firmware version is 1.0.04)is.

I connect to the internet via ADSL.

Both computers are connected to the router, we have a connection cable, other is connected wireless.

If I'm not connected to the internet, I can transfer files between them through 1.5MB/s-2MB/s. But, if I'm connected to the internet, the speed drops to 100 KB/s - 200 KB/s. My adsl connection has a bandwidth of 1 Mbps (about 128 KB/s).

Has anyone faced similar problem? No idea what to do?

You said that you receive the Internet wireless at 100-200 Kbps (kilobytes per second), but I guess you're saying 100 to 200 Kbps (kilobits per second).  If you actually get 100 to 200 Kbps, so it is faster than your reported 1 Mbps line speed.

A wireless connection is more important than a wired connection.  If most users, when connected wireless, get only about 50% to 70% of their wire speed.  So I'm expecting a 1 Mbit/s connected to the Internet, you should be able to get 500 to 700 kbps (kilobits per second) = approximately 50 to 70 Kbps (kilobytes per second) when connected wireless.

When you file transfer from computer to computer on your local network, your speed is limited by 54 Mbps Wireless g your connection speed, which can provide a data rate up to 20 to 25 Mbit/s.  It is clearly much faster that your 1 Mbit/s to the Internet can provide data.  So that explains why the transfer of files on your local network is much faster than your wireless Internet connection.

So, the only real problem I see is that your speed of your WAN (Internet) port to the wireless local area network computer seems to be slow.  The most common cause of this problem, is the default to reset the router by default after a firmware update.

If you did not reset to the factory settings since the last update of the firmware, please do it now and see if it solves your problem.  After the reset, you must configure the router again from scratch.  If you have saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

To reset your router by default, follow these steps:

    (1) turn off all computers, the router and the modem and disconnect from the wall.
    (2) disconnect all the wires of the router.
    (3) turn on the router and let it start up completely (1-2 minutes).
    (4) press in and hold the reset for 30 seconds button, then release it, then let the router reset and restart (2-3 minutes).
    (5) turn the router.
    (6) connect a computer cable to port 1 of the router (NOT to the internet port).
    (7) turn on the router and let it start up completely (1-2 minutes).
    (8) the power of the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it's off).
    (9) try ping on the router. To do this, click the 'Start' button > all programs > Accessories > command prompt. A black DOS window will appear. Enter the following text: "ping 192.168.1.1" (without the quotes) and press the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that begin with ' response to... ". "or"Request timed out". If you see "reply from...". ", your computer has found your router.
    (10) open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to the login page of your router. Leave the user name blank and in the password field, enter "admin" (without the quotes). This will take you to your router configuration page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually found near upper right corner of the screen). Exit your browser.

If you get this day without problem, try the Setup disk (or configure the router manually, if you prefer) and see if you can get your work and router configuration.

If you can not ' response to... ". "in step 9 above, your router is probably dead. A report with this problem

If you get a response in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, is that your router is dead or the firmware is damaged. Related to this issue.

If you need additional assistance, please indicate your ISP, the make and model of your modem, the firmware version of your router and the results of steps 9 and 10. In addition, if you receive error messages, copy them exactly, and report.

Please let me know how things turn out for you.

I'm having a problem with BlackBerry link 1.1.1.26.  I installed, removed and reinstalled several times and have not been able to find a solution.  Once the link is installed and I have running, click on the "Sign In" button and then showed up with an error message saying "unable to connect to your BlackBerry ID."  Confirm you are connected to the Internet and try again "(Win 8 64-bit) office is certainly connected to the internet, using for this post as we speak.  Configuration of simple network DSL modem, router and wi - fi, no firewall company or related issues.  I tried to disable the firewall, and windows defender, reboot and nothing seems to work.  Once I had it connect after a new installation, but the next time I loaded, he was presented with the same error.  Does anyone have any ideas or patches?  Get very frustrating and want out of the file sharing facility.

Thanks a lot for your help!

I was able to get the link to work yesterday by doing a complete uninstall of the BB and BB Desktop Manager link.  Restart, running a registry cleaner, by restarting again and do a new installation of link BB.  It now seems to work.  I tried a few times and after several reboots it always seems to work.

Yes, I had checked before the windows firewall State, and there has been exceptions for active link.  I also tried turning off the firewall completely and windows defender, but which had not worked.
