  Got the same problem that others have reported... a low wifi reception. All USB ports are busy, but the port for SD card isn't, so want to ask if a certain SD WIFI would receive better?

  Driver Acer downloads suck... had to try another driver models´ for windows 7 to get USB3 and bluetooth works after installing windows 7. Users are supposed to be stuck with 8? It s even not a true operating system, it's just time to make money and put tech to work with all the problems he has. After installing W7 Windows experience index went from 5.8/10 to 7.1/7.9

  Just buy the R7 today for my daughter to take to College in a week.  She spent an hour playing around with all the features and how it worked until she tried to download some items (netflix, youtube, etc.) love anything would work because of the low download speeds.  All this bought at Best Buy and while we were looking in the store, on that I read wifi critically low speeds being a problem and Acer did not address the problem and were not all new drivers and no solution.  I show review at the commercial and they pull up a speed test right in the store and said that he did not know that they had solved the problem.  My daughter loved the concept of the flexibility of the screen.  At the moment she is very disappointed in Acer and Best Buy to do. This is our first experience with Acer and we didn't have to go to a brand, we have tried before.  Now it seems that we should have paid attention to our doubts.  We will probably be back to Best Buy and go with a more reliable brand... be nice something about a product in the end if it does not work just nothing further questions.  We are extremely disappointed.

• Aspire 8942G. The on screen volume level display has stopped working.

  When I use the wheel of volume on the keyboard, I would see a numerical value on screen from 0-100 indicating the volume level.  It has stopped working.  The volume and the volume in the taskbar icon work properly.  Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

  Update: I found that the problem was a change of setting in Norton 360.  He is currently working.  Thank you!!!

• Questions about the Acer Aspire Switch 10 guarantee

  I am very interested and very probably going to go ahead with a purchase of the Acer Aspire Switch 10 but I have a few questions. As the device is not currently available in Australia my plan is either:

  (A) choose one of these devices to the top when I visited the United States in two weeks

  Or

  (B) order now (of the United States) and delivered it here, so it comes at the time wherever I'm back from my trip.

  So my main question is, as I have seen many different people having the same problem here with no apparent difficulty, if I made the purchase would I covered by warranty? I think that one would see me covered by the guarantee of international travelers, but it is not very clear. The second option would be local warranty (United States), is that correct? So if I had a problem I have to send it to the United States (at my expense)? Or should it be mentioned here in Australia? And finally, if a problem arises here, local service center (located in Sydney) acer would be able to solve the problem or find a replacement model, even if I have to pay a fee?

  Recently, I used a set of recovery disks on my Acer Aspire V3 because I had problems starting Windows. I am currently using this laptop and it's incredibly slow well only barely nothing installed on it. That, as well as other issues lead me to believe that the hard drive has failed.

  My question is, if I replace the hard drive with a new hard drive, I just bought at Best Buy (same size, 1 TB), the recovery disks still work? Is that all I have to do beforehand to operate?

  Just swap the drives and use your recovery media, nothing else.

• Question about refurbished Aspire V5-122P-0889

  I have a refurbished Aspire V5-122P-0889 having only a 30 day warranty when I got it.  I received it via the eMachines class action floppy drive.  Everything good with the computer and it works fine.  In fact, I actually upgraded to a Samsung 840 250 GB SSD hard drive.  My question is this: I would like to know what it was about this computer that required it to be refurbished.  It was a problem and if so, what is the problem, or if it was sent just return within a time limit because someone did not like it.  As I said, it works beautifully.  I have no complaints, and with the SSD, it is much more dynamic.  I'm just curious to know what it was.  Anyone have an idea how I could find this information without having to buy a contract of service or pay a fee to speak to someone?  Thanks in advance.

  I can answer this for you at a high level and I think that is the best answer we can provide on the subject. No information is available as to why a specific unit has been returned and then refurbished. I am sure that Acer internal teams keep data and improve and reduce the performance of the products, but it is not information that I have provided or information that would be shared publicly.

  A renovated occurs every time that the device is open, it could be a demo, a loan for revision or a return to a retailer for some reason any.

  Hi all

  I decided to enroll in this community to get some tips and reviews the problems I am experiencing with this laptop. I own an Acer Aspire ES1-111 I bought a week ago.

  Since its first configuration, I noticed problems using it with windows 8.1 (its native operating system). For example, touchpad or keyboard not working not properly and, especially, shutdown problems. In this case specific I could never stop the device correctly, because he remained with the power indicator which continued into 'works' although it seems that the system is freezed was arrested. However, in order to really stop I had to press the power button / stop.

  First of all, I decided to reset the system with built-in software eRecovery but problems remain.

  Secondly, I decided to do a clean install of the operating system and I tried the two Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. In both cases, installation process complete without problems, but when you try to install all the drivers, I experienced freezes and once again the shutdown problems. I followed an order to install drivers (Chipset first, only VGA, etc), but in most cases, I had problems of supra. I also tried to disable "Fast start (recommended) turn" without success. 

  But now comes the strange part.

  I finally decided to give it a try for Windows 7 and, to my surprise, everything works fine! I was able to install the drivers correctly and to stop or restart my laptop without a problem. Now I use Windows 7, but, as it is under warranty, I would ask you what you think of this questions.

  I find it quite strange that a laptop does not properly with its native operating system but it is very good with an older operating system! Do you think I should send to Acer support or ask to change it (although, I don't know if I'm still able to pursue this second option).

  I think I found the reason why I was unable to run Windows 8.1 smoothly after a new installation. I tried to install it during the configuration of the Bios in LEGACY mode, which is good for the BONES before Windows 8 (like Windows 7, as it was working perfectly) but not for Windows 8/8.1 as it probably some issue when install drivers etc.

  So I decided to reset the Bios original UEFI mode. It was the right decision. Not only touchpad was recognized well when loading the USB bootable (expecially since the Touchpad has been on "Advanced", which in legacy mode, would not work), but also because, when the operating system installation process has been completed, I was able to install all the drivers hardware properly and stop/restart of operations fully worked without problems / freezes and so on.

  Hope this information is useful for other users.

• Acer Aspire One Internet questions (Please HELP)

  Hey guys!

  I recently bought an Acer Aspire One netbook for school. The computer is just amazing in every way, shape and form - outside the horribly slow and buggy internet. Regardless of my connection or the browser, I have problems such as limited connections insane, usually internet slow speed and all disconnections that occur without reason. If I disconnect and reconnect to the network even after a question given, however, it works very well for the next thirty-or-so minutes, and I encounter the problem again. I noticed that if I closed the computer at a given time, open it and use the internet, these issues seem to be more important. Restarting the computer seems to temporarily solve the problem for a decent time period, but I have to restart the computer several times during a period of use, which is very inconvenient and frustrating. Due to the fact that my school is entirely internet-based, these issues (that occur whenever I use the computer, by the way) become ridiculously boring. Anyone who suffers these problems? Is it possible to fix this?

  (Disclaimer: I studied the problem and saw that there was a 'feature' that slows down the speed of the internet to save the battery, which can be disabled in the settings.) However, after doing this, these issues continue to persist.)

  I want to upgrade the memory of my Aspire netbook 1430Z-4677. The vehicle currently has 3 GB, and the prodcut Acer site says that it is upgraded to 4 GB max. However, the Crucial.com site says it is expandable to 8 GB. Could Acer one give me an official response here? Thank you very much for help!

  You can upgrade to 8.1 windows, don't worry too much about secure boot, it's just a Windows 8.1 security feature and it will not harm your pc.

  I'm afraid that it seems that you are correct, at least as much as I can tell from my research (fast).  The alternative is to reduce the amount of memory that uses the operating system, including the essential utilities (such as the antivirus/anti-spyware), stop programs and services running in the background that you don't need and so on.  There is a lot of information on the internet about optimizing Windows.

• Aspire 5742-6682 Please HELP with recovery installation question

  Help, please!

  I had to replace my HD after an accident on my ASPIRE 5742-6682 laptop and I got an Acer restore disk set and tried to fix it today.  After loading the disc and reboot, it started to load all of the WINDOWS and the drivers... etc.  Must "install LITE-ON crystal eye... utility. "(29 42 installs) and has been stuck there.  Another pop-up - Acer Crystal Eye webcam Installation Wizard window (and said) ' the web camera is not found! Please plug in the camera and try the installation again. »    .. .one problem with this solution, is that I have no camera to connect. The single camera or video camera is built into the laptop. How to solve this problem or go beyond that, the rest of the installation can be completed?

• Aspire M3985 (win 8) graphics card Question

  The problem is if I can change the GT640 my own GTX 750 Ti is in it - can I? Because the GT 640 55 watt TDP and the GTX 750ti is 60 Watt TDP. 5 watt is not much of a difference right? But I am still concerned about the amps of power supply. So what to do ?... There is also a sample file for the manufacture of graphics card...
