Aspire V5 122P

Just got this unit and cannot boot from a CD to install W7.  It begins to boot from the CD of installation of Win 7, but ignores the normal message while pressing any key to boot from the CD-ROM.

It then passes through the loading of the initial W7 installation files.  After a few seconds, it fails completely with an IO error.  The CD is not altered; I can use it on any other machine I have.

I searched a few posts and from what I understand, Microsoft is trying to keep us poor users of replacement (their junk in my opinion) the most recent OS. Windows 8.

Before that I beat my head against the wall for days trying to find a solution (disble secure boot, etc, etc), does anyone know if this is possible?

I was able to boot from a USB key, created using Paragon hard disk manager.  Has also been able to make a disk image of the Aspire HD using this tool.

Thank you

Can someone tell me the exact procedure updated the BIOS on an Aspire V5 - 122P. I upgraded from Windows 8.1 for Windows 10. I read somewhere that the upgrade of BIOS ver 2.10 and 2.12 will improve the speed at which it runs. It seems that here are slow running problems with this machine.

I also know enough to know that an executed incorrecly BIOS update can cause a wipe on then, please, if you have done this correctly, please share your experience.

I downloaded the file and the readme says: Windows flash: Please click on "SOBI0210.exe" for updating the bios.

I didn't get this in case it defines something moving that I don't understand.

    Hello

There is nothing special for the update of the BIOS.

Just download the BIOS, make sure that your laptop is plugged in (and also that he above 60% battery in any case), and run the file that you downloaded.

  • Question about refurbished Aspire V5-122P-0889

I have a refurbished Aspire V5-122P-0889 having only a 30 day warranty when I got it.  I received it via the eMachines class action floppy drive.  Everything good with the computer and it works fine.  In fact, I actually upgraded to a Samsung 840 250 GB SSD hard drive.  My question is this: I would like to know what it was about this computer that required it to be refurbished.  It was a problem and if so, what is the problem, or if it was sent just return within a time limit because someone did not like it.  As I said, it works beautifully.  I have no complaints, and with the SSD, it is much more dynamic.  I'm just curious to know what it was.  Anyone have an idea how I could find this information without having to buy a contract of service or pay a fee to speak to someone?  Thanks in advance.

I can answer this for you at a high level and I think that is the best answer we can provide on the subject. No information is available as to why a specific unit has been returned and then refurbished. I am sure that Acer internal teams keep data and improve and reduce the performance of the products, but it is not information that I have provided or information that would be shared publicly.

A renovated occurs every time that the device is open, it could be a demo, a loan for revision or a return to a retailer for some reason any.

I hope this helps. I have a Samsung 840 Pro coming today for a my new gaming platform, can't wait to get charge up

  • Aspire V5 - 122P Max RAM

Is anyone else can confirm that they have been able to use/detect than 6 GB of RAM for this model?  I just read this and think seriously going to buy a 8 GB key just to see if it works (I already updated to 6 GB of RAM using a 4 GB key I had laying around): http://community.acer.com/t5/Ultra-Thin/Memory-upgrade-in-Aspire-V5-122P-0600/td-p/182251

If someone else can confirm this, it would be a great help!  In any case, I can just go buy and try anyway, in which case I'll report my findings.

For what it's worth, I did go out and buy a stick of RAM to 8 GB and the system recognizes all of the 10 GB (less space used for video) - keep in mind I run Linux and not Windows 8/8.1, so I have no idea with Windows would recognize the full amount.

That's what I plan to do: revenge CORSAIR 4 GB 204 pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) computer portable single bar.  It will work in this phone?

  • TV projects "No Signal" when connected to Aspire V5 - 122P

I tried to connect my Aspire V5 - 122P to my Sony Bravia, but it displays 'No Signal'. Since my aspires to only the mini-Display port I tried the following, but still, it does not work:

    1 port mini-Display - VGA/HDMI cable

    2 port mini-Display - HDMI cable

I hope someone could help me.

    PS.

I tried to connect my front Apire to a projector via the port Mini-affichage - VGA cable and it worked fine.

I went to the Service yesterday and had the guys here help me understand what the problem is. We tried several HDMI cables and still we get "No Signal". I tried to replace the screen Mini HDMI adapter that I use and it worked. So the main problem is the adapter.

So for all of you who have problems similar to this, I suggest that you try and test several cables/adapters first.

IronFly thanks for all the suggestions and help that he gave.

  • Acer Aspire V5 - 122P: Windows 8 Local password recovery or boot from USB

    Hello world

Really need help. I fear that I will lose all my data on my hard disk to get my computer working again.

I don't know how, but somehow the password to logon Windows 8 was changed. I can't do anything even if I'm in the advanced recovery options.

I created a USB key to book my V5 Aspire 122P, but I cannot book from the USB key.

I have not created a password reset disk in advance.

I chose the option to rest my pc while keeping my data, but windows 8 still asks for the password and does not accept the password that has always worked for me.

Really scared... If I lose all my data.

Well want to can someone help?

    Abrar

I got myself to solve my problem. It would be very useful for someone else, which is why the announcement of the update:

    1. first click on the SIFT-restart, I went advanced options and refreshed my pc while keeping my data.

    2. This allowed me somehow, in advanced options, I could go to the command prompt without system asking me the password I forgot.

    3. once I was in the command prompt, I followed the following steps:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/Windows-8/a/reset-password-Windows-8.htm

    4. I was able to reset my user password.

    5. I had to go through installing windows again - not a big problem

    6. all my programs have been removed. I had to reinstall them for example MS Office, Cisco VPN Client, Skype, Chrome

    7. my data were available under the user name

    8. deleted data has been placed in the windows.old directory I was able to easily backup.

So - Thank you God Almight - life is beautiful again.

    It will be useful.

  • Acer aspire v - 122p switch

My 122p V5 does not illuminate.

It was working fine last night but this morning, that he would not go back to sleep.

When I press the switch sometimes the battery symbol flashes orange, but the unit does not illuminate.

I tried pressing the reset on the bottom pile. Tried some of the function keys, but nothing seems to work.

Any other ideas before I take back to the shop?

    Thank you

    Hi MissChilli

Sounds like your battery may be dead, or maybe has a problem.

Plug the charger and try to switch on - it should work now. When it is started in Windows, check the status of the battery. Let it load completely, then start/use it on battery for a while. If the battery drains too quickly, or even if the laptop turns off as soon as you remove the magazine, then you have a fault.

  • Aspire V5 - 122p stuck on the Acer splash screen

I did a factory reset on windows cleaning 8 using the acer recovery option.  Everything was going well until I tried to update to windows 10 (I did the windows free 10 earlier on this machine without any problem.).  After you have installed windows 10 and the system has been updated, the system said that it was necessary to restart and now it does not start at the top.  It is stuck on the acer screen boot.  I tried all the options in the recovery section that opens after 2 failed charge.  It crashes just on the acer screen. It won't let me boot to safe mode, I can't reset, I can not restore. I don't like on the files on the pc, I just want the pc to be functional again. I have a good restore image on a USB key, but the only way it works is within windows with the acer recovery option.  When I try to restore or repair options, it just says: this pc is not repairable.  I even tried tried support for windows 10 installation/recovery and recovery using a USB drive and I get an error on it.  I tried everything I can think of.  Currently, the laptop is a brick.  Anyone got any ideas on a way to fix this thing do start? Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello

I select custom install, not upgrade or repair the USB. When you reach the disk selection panel, select the partition where you had previously installed windows and then click the format button which is below the selection window. After formatting, select the partition to install windows.

Do it with a windows 10 USB installation. I think it should work.

Be careful, because in this way, you will lose all the data that is on that partition.

  • Question about the Aspire V5-122P-0889 recovery partition...

My recovery partition is 14.82 GB in size, but it has only 95,21 MB of space used.  I upgraded to 8.1 Windows through shop Windows, but I highly doubt that it would be wiped out the info in the partition.  In addition, this computer is a computer refurbished plant.  When I got it it had a warranty of 30 days on this subject.  I had because I've included in the eMacines floppy drive class.  It does not matter if, as a computer Factory reconditioned, refurbished by Acer, should have the info in the recovery partition, shouldn't it?  I am at a loss.  I would use the recovery option to reinstall Windows 8 I don't like Windows 8.1, but now I see my only option is to buy the Acer USB recovery, and it comes to $43.  It's not just sit well with me.  Any ideas?  It is refurbished at the factory does not mean it must be defective.

I have a System Image backup when he was still just Windows 8, but cannot me use because it says that I can't use a system image of Windows 8 to restore a computer that has Windows 8.1 on it currently.

I know that I can download a Windows 8 ISO, but only with a product key valid OEM product key is not going to work.  Besides, who knows what the product key is anyway, as it is stored in the BIOS.  Once again, any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Well, after doing a little research, it turns out that one of the features of Windows 8.1 upgrade wonderful is that this makes it unusable to your recovery partition.  I guess this teaches you this in the FAQ on Windows 8 upgrade to 8.1.  The only option would have been to make a USB recovery before doing the upgrade, but of course, I did that.  As I said, I have an image of Windows 8 of this machine system, but it is useless for me.  Of course, my only option is to go there and order USB Acer recovery, then after you have reinstalled Windows 8, uses the saved system image so I can get all my programs without having to re-download everything.  Well, $44.95 and some headaches because I didn't read the FAQ and think to make a backup of the appropriate USB recovery.  Maybe this lesson will help someone in the future.  Such is life.

  • Memory in Aspire V5-122P-0889

How is it that the laptop has 4 GB of memory, including 3526 MB usable, when there wasn't that one module of memory Kingston 2 GB installed?  The motherboard is equipped with a built-in 2 GB module, and everything you put in the single RAM slot is in addition to the built in memory?  My laptop is no longe under warranty, so when I installed an SSD I removed the module and he got the info from her.  It is a module of Kingston, model # ACR16D3LS1NGG / 2G, which is clearly a 2G module.  Same cpu - z indicates the module as being 2048 mb.  The kicker is that in cpu - z, on the memory tab, the size la taille shows only 3526 MB.  In the SPD tab, it shows only the 1 full size 2048 MB module slot.  Nothing in slot 2.  Belarc Advisor, it shows DIMM 0 as with 2048MB installed, with a serial number and 1 DIMM with 2048 MB installed, but no serial number.  The serial number for the DIMM 0 is for the module of Kingston.  Can anyone understand this?  As I said, it is that a single slot on the motherboard for a module and the module that it is 2 GB.  In all my other PCs in the past, the memory that is displayed is what you have installed.  But this laptop has a ghost somewhere 2 GB module.  I'm sure that there is a logical explanation for this, and I'm sure that the laptop was actually 4GB (usable 3.52), but where the other 2 GB coming if the module installed, and why is not Belarc shows a second module that is not physically there?  Thanks in advance.

I'm not familiar with your machine, but I think there:

A location that can be supported up to 4 GB.

(There is another 2 GB of RAM (DDR3-1066) soldered to the motherboard. It cannot be changed).

  • Recovery aspire V5 - 122P Acer too big for 16Gb usb

    Hello.

I just buy this ultrabook and I can't build a recovery 16 GB usb key because the collection management application does not show drive unit "d" in this case. If I use a 32 GB USB, then it shows unit.

    What can happen?

    Thank you.

Some systems require more 16 GB for the recovery image and eRecovery will not display the drive if the image does not.
