Aspire V5 431P F2 is not BIOS and does not start

Hello

I made a change in the BIOS to trying to boot a linux live cd (off start secure and changed inheritance) and the system does more boot windows.

I am not surprised by this, but I can't enter the BIOS put right my changes. The screen "Press F2" is present for about 0.5 seconds and after hours to try the laptop keyboard with a USB, one I can not go in the bios.

If I can't have at F2 is an another way to get the bios in the correct state for windows?

Is there a battery that I can remove or a jumper to restore the bios to a fault? Or another key, that I don't know?

Thanks for your help

Steve

FIXED! :-)

My wife found on another thread that now the button power 2 minutes changed the mode of bios and it did!

turn on and the power for 2 minutes (even after the power light turns off)

marketing and the screen press F2 disappeared

startup recovery key and UEFI options back then entered in the bios by default.

Thanks to everyone who helped me

Steve

  • Satellite Pro 6100: cannot get into the BIOS and does not start

I have a portable Satellite pro 6100, en I was trying to boot from an external USB hard drive. When I activated the second hard drive option in the BIOS it has stopped booting all in all, I can't even get into the BIOS Setup more. All I get is "In touch with tomorrow TOSHIBA" screen with the icons to select the method of priming preferred manually after it's just blank screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left.

Press ESC or F8 before to turn usually results in fast beeps sounds.
Press tilde (~) before turn is reflected in the remaining space screen (not even the home toshiba screen appears) and slow Zens sounds.

Apart from that I can't really do nothing at all.
I tried to reset the BIOS by disconnecting the battery CMOS/RTC (hoewever, we call it) of the motherboard for a while with no results.

Turn on/off without the results of HD internal in a white screen with an ERROR 'IDE #0.
I can always stop by pressing the power button, you don't have to bother on the external hard drive it past I don't even want it works more.

    Suggestions?

    Hello

I agree with Graeme. Your HARD drive is probably faulty. Sorry, but I don't think that you will be able to use the external HARD drive. The option in the BIOS is not for EXTERNAL HARD drive is just, I guess, for disk HARD placed in select Bay.

When you do a normal click of the sthe power button switch goes to sleep rather than turn them off. Try a press and for ten seconds or more, wait a few seconds and try again to turn on.

  • Dell Vostro 430 sometimes breaks down and does not find the hard drive in the bios

So I have this old - ish Dell Vostro 430, intel cpu, windows 7 hard disk sata 250 GB, 4 GB of ram.

Update BIOS to the latest version 2.4.0

In certain exceptional circumstances, this PC sometimes crashes in windows, it is restarted, and then when he comes back it does not find the hard drive as a gift. He is not seen in the bios and does not start.

To fix, I have to unplug the power cable, wait a few seconds, plug in, reboot the computer and it starts normally, load windows and everything.

So far, I have tried to paginate on another hard disk, reinstall the Windows operating system from scratch, and same thing happens from time to time.

It is difficult to find the cause of the problem, because this happens very rarely.

Sometimes, when the pc is turned on for the first time in the morning, the hard drive is not found by the bios and we reappear at the same trick (disconnect the power cable) to take him back.

When it crashes when using inside Windows, it seems that the reason is the computer can't find the hard drive.

Such computer is out of warranty.

It would be nice to just throw this computer because it is still fine for the work it has to do, + I have Windows and Office OEM license on it, as well as many other software that I have to reinstall etc.etc.

No idea what I could troubleshoot?

Maybe change the motherboard? How can I buy a new motherboard for an out of warranty Dell?

While possibly keeping all the OEM licenses (Windows 7 and Office 2007).

    • Have you tried to replace the battery in the motherboard, if nothing else than to exclude it? CR2032, 3-volt lithium-ion, ~ $2 at discount stores. Do not forget to open the BIOS Setup and copy down all current settings first because remove battery BIOS resets the default values, which is maybe not correct for your specific system.

  • My hard drive crashed and I need to reinstall XP PRO but my computer does not start on the CD

I went into the BIOS and changed to start from the windows xp pro disk but no matter if I put in the pro or the original disk, I get 'disk read error.  CTRL Alt Del to restart.  BIOS can see how much space is left on the hard drive, so it's there, and BIOS knows I want to boot from the installation disc, but it doesn't.  What I am doing wrong?

Hi Jade4142.Did try you go to BIOS and set it to the default settings and put the disc in, and then restart. There are many variables to a disc is loading. It could be the Platinum cd/dvd is defective, the disc is dirty, scratched or any black disc market. It you load on the HARD drive that crashed? If so, it could be that the HARD drive is infected? If this is a new HARD disk, you must leave the disconnected HARD drive, start the computer that lights up and looking for a hard drive. In this way the motherboard works independent of the HARD drive. The motherboard doesn't have a HARD drive to boot. Once you start without a HARD disk he won't say you no HARD drive or o/s found. Stop it. Connect the HARD drive for the sake of things a NEW HARD drive. Then start the unit go to BIOS and set to boot from the cd/dvd and then save and reboot. If the disc is genuine, and it's a new HARD drive, it should load without problems. He must ensure that the cd/dvd is above the machine to choose this path.click top and press the sign on your keyboard + and you'll see it move to the top of the list. If she is not at the top is not first in line to start. Just trying to help.

  • Bad Bios and laptop does not start

One day, I tried to run an update of the bios and I now know that I made the biggest mistake by forcing my laptop off while running. It's a sudden reaction when my laptop had seemed frozen. I was reading on the update file/app/what is to have all closed while it performs this update but if tempting as I couldn't move my cursor and I had not yet started the update, just opened. After forcing to close, I cut on and get nothing more than a black screen, no light in the display. Y at - it any way to solve this problem at all? I went to someone about this issue, they said that I might need a new motherboard I want to buy because I just think that I mind as well buy a new laptop instead.

I read all the posts that talked about updating the BIOS and then by doing a hard reset by removing the power cable and speaking on the battery and then hit the power button for a minute or simply to leave the computer for several minutes.

A lot of people seems to have solved their problems.  Not me.

I updated the BIOS and also did the hard reset like 10 times.  What other options are there?

I have Windows 7-64 bit.  This problem occurred after I did the updates windows 11/04/13 or 12/04/13.

Mouse power switch and the power button wifi button keys are the only ones that seem to work.

Go back to the device, right click on the Device Manager and select uninstall - when it is finished, restart the laptop.

    Any change?

Hello, I extend my Satellite A100 laptop BIOS.

After update, I can't start my laptop and the BIOS will not start.

    You see the Toshiba logo?

Was there a power failure when you updated the BIOS?

Try to remove the battery and the adapter and leave for a few hours. You can also try reinstalling the RAM.

If this does not help, you will need to send it to a Service Center for repair.

Place it in the second slot.

Result - BIOS shows only 4 GB of RAM and Windows shows same 4 GB RAM (something aroung 3.8 GB)

Tried to replace the second stick of ram but same result.

    Any ideas what's happening?

Tried to run laptop with only Crucial working stick - BIOS 4 GB

Then tried to place again noticed two poles that stick in second slot is not placed correctly (pins were visible), place it with more force, so that the pins are not visible and now it works.

  • Aspire One D257-13478 does not start after the system BIOS flash.

    I gave my child a D257 - 13478 new ASPIREONE.

It came with Windows7 starter - was very slow, crippled and crashed a lot.

After a while, I have re-formatted the HARD drive to remove Windows-resources-pork-7, and I installed Windows XP Professional (SP3).

After which, the netbook has been much faster, and I could navigate with 5 windows open browser (FireFox) and NEVER receive (not RESPONDING), as I was always getting with Windoze 7. He's been good for 5 months.

Anyway, it worked fine except that I could not find driver XP for [CODE 10] Broadcom wireless card,.

so we were not using WiFi.

Today I read the suggestion to update my BIOS to correct [CODE 10 number}. I went to acer link and downloaded the BIOS of the Organizer, RAN the EXE and the netbook went to restart.

When the ACER logo appears, a blue screen flashed QUICK, and the netbook RESTARTS again.

Asking me to start Windows normally just repeat what's happening above

When I choose Safe Mode... drivers will charge up to Mup.sys and then the system just REBOOTS.

When I try the last good Configuration known, same thing.

Enter the system (F2) shows, Version of the system Bios configuration utility: v1.15

It used to be all about v1.10.

    .................................................

Then. What is my next step?

Will be my HD reformatting and reinstall WIndowsXP DIFFICULTY this problem?

    or

How can I RESET my Bios to v1.10 (when everything was fine).

No software to use on a USB key to solve this problem? (because theres no CD don't drive of course)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi MOne

The flash will have changed the BIOS settings, so go in the BIOS settings and verify that the setting of the HARD drive is in AHCI mode. If it still does not start XP, then it is worth trying to format & reinstall Windows from scratch.

    Hello

I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of the motherboard for help on how to reset the bios.

Note: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    Thanks and regards.
