Aspire V5 - 552G crashes, what's next?

Hi, I was wondering if you could guide me in what I should do next.

Recently, I decided to buy this laptop in August for College.

At first when I arrived it was very good and really works well, however I have noticed that the laptop crashed often, most of the time when the charger is connected. It crashed few matter what powerplan, I had. This accident required a start difficult, and the screen freezes, no blue screen. There is no sound from the speakers, but have headphones and wired headphones allowed you to hear the sound. Other times I hear a loud buzzing before stopping.

I noticed something strange about the accident, I fell a lot whenever I had just started my computer, if I was passing through the web, playing games or doing homework. But put on standby and opening it again, the laptop computer never crashed. Although the time varies when it crashes, it could be a few minutes after the opening of the computer for a few hours.

At first, I thought maybe would it be an overheating issue, but I usually get 25 c idle, 40-50 ° C on browsers and 55-70 ° C (rarely exceeds 70 ° C) when playing games. Sounds like your laptop has developed a hardware problem. As it is still under warranty, the best thing to do is to contact Acer support for your region, and they can arrange a repair.

  • Aspire V5 - 552g clean installed Windows 7, overheating

    My Aspire V5 - 552 g died a while ago (completely failed hard disk).  It came with Windows 8, but I didn't have the windows key after installing a new hard drive so I installed Linux instead.

    Anyway, with the upgrade of Windows 10 is about to expire, I thought that I should enjoy it while I can.  I managed to get a key of Windows 7 pro at work, and I installed Windows 7 this weekend (dual boot with Linux).  Windows has initially didn't show 'no network device' but I have the drivers wifi from somewhere and so now I can connect.  But obviously, there are problems of driver with Windows 7.

    The problem I have now is the laptop overheats and crashes in an hour (from total cold startup).  It's certainly a Windows problem is not a hardware problem, as I'm still running intense applications on Linux without any problem.

    I guess it's a driver problem, and so my initial plan has been completely updated from Windows and I hope that, somewhere in there are a few updates to the driver.  However, the laptop dies before it will be updated.  Same question so I'm trying the update up to 10 or just 7.

    The drivers listed on page Acer for the V5 - 552 g are all for Windows 8, which I do not know do not work with Windows 7.

    Any suggestions?  (and sorry if this is a repeat, I look in the forums but couldn't find the same question, if it has already been answered please tell me here if?).

    Note: If you have changed your UEFI to legacy mode and to return to default UEFI, then search the forum because it is literally hundreds of messages on how to install 8.1 for Windows or Windows 10 with RUFUS. (or just create your installation on a computer UEFI support).

    UK USA warranty transfer can be difficult on a system that we have sold. 10 x difficult for resellers. USA and UK guaranteed specifications differ and can not transfer. These ebay sellers move computers from one area to another without any real knowledge of our policies. You could get a laptop from them that initially sold off Japan Dell. My advice, find the phone you want on the Dell UK Outlet site, NOT a seller on ebay. Our site will explain your warranty offerings.
