Aspire XC G 703, thumb drive system backup

A USB stick 32 GB would be enough to back up my system, it has a 500GB SSD with 409 GB of free space, I would like to make it as bootable and being able to update if that is possible. Thank you

Thank you very much jordanB, links were just what I was looking for and I have bookmark this page.

I have a HP Pavilion Notebook PC g6 with an operating system of Windows 8. I want to create a feedback system for recovery with a flash drive. The HP support assistant says that a minimum 22GB flash disk is required. I bought a 32 GB Cruzer flash drive and tried to create my recovery disk. Although my computer recognizes the device, the HP Wizard not to light up when I pushed the flash drive option and the position of the screen continued to read insert the media device. It was'nt by registering or by recognizing that I had inserted device. In one of the pages HP I was reading, he said not to use a widows compatible flash 8 player! I don't understand. What should I do? What kind of flash drive I should get that would do the job and what size of capacity? Please, please help me someone!

    Hello

The problem is caused by the application Recovery Media Creator not recognizing flash drives that show, like 'Fixed readers'-, it will only recognize the flash drives that appear as a "removable disk.  In the example below, Dave (G) shows as a reader fixed and won't work, while removable disk (H) will work.

Unfortunatelt there is no totally reliable method to predict what flash drives are suitable, but thanks to @erico the following flash drives known to work.

    Hello

Backup to a different partition on the same drive is not recommended and the car fails, you will not be able to retrieve or use the backup.

  • Possible drive with backup problem

Recently, I needed remove the files from the old drive to backup after discovering their involuntary inclusion on my regular backup disk. These files somehow became included for backup to disk when I have included another external hard drive where they lie in the intent of formatting that lead to use as backup for the second part of my system dual-boot. This problem is surface shortly after the withdrawal of older backups with error message:

"Time Machine could not finish the backup"Backup 04 BateStar."

Cannot copy the files on the backup disk because it seems to be read-only.

You need to maybe repair or reformat the drive using the Utility Dist. If the disc is not repairable, you usa another disk for backups. Open Time Machine preferences to select a different backup disk. »

I completed both an audit and a repair that shows the drive to be good, no errors.

Am suspect at this stage that it is was eventually added to the directory, or to a location on the disk are addressed by the directory of corrupted data.

Is it possible to fix this without reformatting the drive 3 t?

Furthermore, need to reformat, how would I be able to retrieve up-to-date backups without including whatever the location of incorrect data are included?

  • USB Thumb Drive (UHYBS-064GH) format/write protection fault

    Hello

    Hoping for help.

Bought a 64 b USB Thumb Drive (UHYBS-064GH), a private seller, but the point is brand new in packaging.

When I tried to copy files through him, he maxed out at comments 45Gig and seems to have caused a clerical error. I was able to remove the majority of the cases, however on 5gig of them would not remove (in that they seem to have removed, until you updated).

To counter this, I tried to "quick format", the drive (using Windows XP SP3), but the disc is write protected and I am unable to remove it.

Spoke to a friend who told me that I should try a low-level format, which tried & it seemed to work, however when I insert the USB system indicates that the drive is not formatted & I would like to format. When you click Yes, I get the error 'write protected '.

Was the question of the google machine & even tried to change registry settings, but also failed.

So I hope someone out there has a solution for me (which does not include a big hammer & some anger management)...?

Would it be possible that this USB drive is defective?
In my opinion, you should contact the merchant and must replace it with another.

  • System backup Image against the system recovery disks

    Hello

I'm new to the system recovery things and I have a question...

I just bought a new computer laptop m7-1015dx of Pavilion and need to do system recovery discs... (which I realize restore laptop to factory default)... BTW, I have already created the system repair disc.

However, I read an article on creating a system backup Image allowing you to recovery if lost EVERYTHING, all your installed programs, etc.

    First Question:

Can someone tell me if I do the backup IMAGE of the system...

Do I still need to create recovery disk (mfg default) system also?

    The second Question:

If I create system recovery disks can I still this Recovery Partition?

I am really really wanting to partition my C:\ drive... it is huge

In addition, I hate to see storage folders involved in system folders...

Currently using a symbol/character to separate them.

From now on, I can't partition the C:\drive all partitions are used as... Max is 4

and I have 4... C:\drive, System Partition, Partition HPTools and recovery Partition.

Any help or assistance would be appreciated.

    Thanks for the research.

    Best regards, Jenn

    Hi, Jenn:

I'd certainly recovery disks because in the case of a hard drive failure, a recovery partition is unnecessary because it would be on the failed drive.

Recovery disks will do the same as a recovery partition. Reinstall the operating system and programs supplied with your laptop.

I have also copy off the coast of the C:\drive SWSetup folder and store it on a portable hard drive that contains all files Installer provided with your PC (except MS Office 2010 Starter).

You can also make your own Windows 7 installation disc and have a nice bloatware without installing windows, and then install only the programs you want from the SWSetup folder.

    Here's how:

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/

You can get rid of all the partitions you want to if you plan to use recovery or disc of Windows 7 installation method that I posted above.

I write my product key and store them somewhere for more security that many people report that it fades if you keep the laptop on your lap a lot, and then you wouldn't be able to use the alternative method to install W7.

  • How to upgrade the operating system on the new ssd and make the old disk to a data drive system

    Hello

I have a hp envy m7j010dx with windows 8.1.  It came pre-installed (windows 8) on a 1 TB hard drive.  I recently bought a samsung 840 pro 250 GB ssd that I wouold like to make the drive system and make the original drive my data disc.  confused on how to do it.  hey this is cool not clone. all I can find is stuff of backup or restore.  I just want to put the original on the new disk computer.

    Thanks for any info... soundears

Start by creating a recovery kit. See the following link for the procedure:

HP computers - create a recovery Disk Image or save an Image recovery on a USB (Windows 8)
Learn how to create recovery DVDs or to save a recovery image on a USB flash drive to restore all the original software, in the case of a computer problem major.

Remove the 1 TB of HARD drive pre-installation and install 250 GB SSD. Use the recovery kit and perform the recovery of the system. See the following link for the procedure:

HP computers - running a HP System Recovery (Windows 8)
HP System Recovery allows to reinstall or restore a HP with Windows 8 computer to the way it was at a previous time.

Then you can connect the 1 TB HARD drive as a data disc and use it.

If I have such software, how can I get it? Because my netbook not came with any utility recovery/program when I bought it. Nice day

You must back up your data to an external HARD disk, etc. To reload your factory machine, click Start, all programs, acer erecovery management, restoration and completely restore the factory settings.

I need to create a system backup (drive C), how I can do it.  I use SSD and sometimes the mobo loses the ssd and I need to restore the last image.

    Hello

Thank you for your response.  I used to do that when I got Windows 7.  But now I can't find this option in Windows 8.  I tried to look as you suggested, but the option was not there.  The only option in Windows 8 backup seems to be for files.  Does this mean that we must rely on 3rd party software for the filming system?

Thanks in advance for your help,

the original (old version) windows maximum return is always available.

    1. go in Control Panel

    2. click on/tap on the file history

    3. in this window, you can use the history of the files, or Windows 7 back upward and recovery option.

4 either one of these options, allows you to configure automatic backup settings

Note: these 2 utilities may not work simultaneously. You can either choose history file, or backup of Windows 7.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello

Since the upgrade of my Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x 64 Windows 8 Pro x 64, my Corsair travel GT 32 GB USB 3.0 Flash USB key no longer works when plug it into my USB 3.0 port on my laptop. I get an error that the "peripheral last USB connected to the computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it." I looked for someone with a similar problem and came across this answer:

  • Error message Windows 7 64 bit in the system backup

As part of a routine backup, I have a disc for an external hard drive image backup. It worked with happiness for a few months - so far!

I now get an error message.

"The operation failed due an errror device met with the source or the destination. If the source or destination on a disk, run CHKDSK/R on the source or destination volume. and then try the operation again.
Details: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error.
    "Error code: 0x8078012D"

I have run CHKDSK, but no error reported.

Also, I tried two different external drives but get the same problem that makes me think that the problem is with Windows backup rather than external drives.

You want showed a solution or two, but nothing worked - still had the problem.

    Bright ideas?

    Thanks in advance
    David

    > Operation failed because of a device error encountered with the source or destination

    > Also, I tried two different external drives

I think that this speaks volumes according to the error message and your ad, it seems to be a problem with the HARD drive internal or it s really the backup program

Have you contacted already Microsoft or a Microsoft Forum? Maybe they have an answer for this error code. I think it is not related to Toshiba, so you should ask some Windows specialists using s.

How to replace a bad IDE disk with a USB Flash drive system - and have all the functionality of XP Pro SP3
Given a PC without hard disk...
How can you use a flash drive instead?
So, indeed, the USB key works as an SSD...
I saw online options that gives partial functionality of the system... and an option that is more than $100 (more than the system's worth)...
None of these options are acceptable in the circumstances.
It is an effort to create a machine for a particular use, built from a recycled pc for which hard drive was removed and destroyed by the original owner...
The criterion is that it must work just like it was a mechanical drive running xp pro sp3 with all updates, etc...
    Thanks for any help.

You can not install XP on a Flash as his unsupported drive. Your only two options are a traditional hard drive or Solid State Drive (SSD).
