ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card causes frequent PC crashes

Once a week, my laptop HP 6735 b running Vista 64 - bit professional breaks down. Each time, the incident reports Windows says that the problem is related to my graphics driver:

Look for the updates of the ATI graphic driver

This problem was caused by ATI Graphics Driver, which was created by ATI Technologies, Inc. Currently, there is no solution for this problem.

With HP and ATI, I have confirmed that I have the latest version of the driver. The other option which is Windows problem reports offers to downgrade the performance parameters. I tried, but it's really bad. Any other suggestions?

    Hello:

I doubt that AMD would not help, but I wonder if you can post a question or search the W10 Microsoft in the forum to see if anyone knows a way around the types of controls.

You can even post a question here.

It is more a problem of Windows 10 that a problem of HP, and someone who really knows their stuff on W10 will maybe able to help.

  • ATI Radeon HD 3200

    I have a Hp Pavilion dv7-1260us.

It has an integrated ATI radeon hd 3200 graphics card with what is called hypermemory.

Now my research online it's a 512 MB graphics card. Although my display properties shows a memory dedicated 256 MB only!

I tried goin in the BIOS settings to change... but could not... There is no option... search online also said what we called hypermemory will spend more memoery card, if any... and since it does not require much now, it is set to 256 MB... I thought... Ok

Now when I play the games requiring a 256 MB as requirements... him don't work unless I put the display settings to the LOWEST!  games that need 512MB graphics card do not work well, even with the minimum display settings! and HP announced this laptop to be able to use 1918 MB shared memory... My question... What is the point of the 1918 MB shared memory when you can't run a game that needs 256 MB!

    Thank you.

    Features of the laptop:

    HP Pavilion dv7-1260us

Thanks for the reply.here of some info that I could find:

The version of the BIOS/date: Hewlett-Packard F.49, 17/08/2009 (I remember doing an update of the bios winflash recently)

    SMBIOS version: 2.4

pilot: c:\windows\system32\drivers\atikmdag.sys (8.1.1.934, 5.81 MB) 07/09/2009 (I've also recently updated this on the HP site)

    Ive tried playin games:

    1. call Of Duty - world at war (playable only on low heat)

2 Crysis (game jerky wid even low settings)

3 Fear 2 works fine with low setings

4 Flatout ultimate carnage - decent play only with low settings

    5. the Fifa 2009 - no problem

    6. need For speed - shift (had to uninstall juice cos I couldn't play!) ... very disappointed

7 call of Juarez - bound in blood (decent with the lowest settings)

I know that some of them are some high end games but shouldn't I can play em with a 1918 MB graphic card... or did I get something wrong here...

my graphics card also has the pixel shader that is higher than what is required by the theses games (I do not know what pixel shader means )

All that it would be ok, but I can't change the resolution and other configurations?

    Under Vista, is the same.

    Thanks for any help!

    Hello

The laptop supports the Mobility Radeon X 2400 code name: M72
    It supports 32bit@64MB Local Cache.
Total video/graphic memory is the sum of the local cache and Hyper memory.

For example, memory Hyper depending on the installed RAM.
You would get 256 MB memory hyper if system RAM would be 1024Mo
2 GB of RAM using hyper memory should be more I think that something about 300 MB.

Total graphics memory would be so local cache 64MB + ~ 300 MB of memory hyper-~ 364MB of graphics ram

  • HP 6005 Pro SFF: Replace video card ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics upgrade for HP 6005 Pro SFF

I have a HP 6005 Pro SFF with a 240W PS, and I want to upgrade the video card.  It has an ATI Radeon HD 4200.    An HP Forum person (Paul Tikkanen) recommended an upgrade for a 6005 using a video card optional for the HP 6200 Pro SFF:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16814121439&cm_re=hd_6450-_-14-121-439-_-product

Please confirm it also works for the 6005.  If I replace it, can I actually remove the Radeon 4200 and replace it directly at the space of the same card mother slot to save space of PCI Expansion slot, or do I use the expansion PCI Express 16 x slot?   If so, is the procedure for the direct replacement documented anywhere?

    Hello:

The ATI Radeon HD 4200 Video on your PC is the graphics chip integrated according to page 14 of the quickspecs at the link below. In other words, the graphics card is a chip that is soldered to the motherboard.  It is not in an expansion slot.

    http://static.highspeedbackbone.NET/PDF/HP%20Compaq%206005%20PRO%20Business%20pc%20Quick%20Specs.PDF

The dedicated PCI express x 16 slot should be empty now, and this is where you install the card I have recommended.

I don't see why the HD 6450 work.  It works in the dc7800, dc7900, Pro 6000, 6200 pro, 8000 Elite, Elite 8100 and 8200 Elite business desktop PC.

You just need to make sure that uninstall you the HD 4200 graphics card and the driver in Device Manager.  Also check the uninstalling the driver box.

Also uninstall catalyst control center software in the Add/Remove programs in the control panel section, stop and disconnect the PC, install your new video card and the driver for the 6450.

Here is the link to the service manual. See Chapter 2 pp 20-25 for the installation procedures card expansion, paying special attention to the info of PCIe x 16 slot.

I managed to find a solution and it could be applicable to other users.

Step 1: Go to http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/home.aspx and search of your graphics card.

Step 2: once you find the list, select the suitable driver for windows 7 (WDDM) that are compatible with windows 8.

Step 3: download. Run it and extract it in a specific folder.

Step 4: Go to control panel, then system, then Device Manager, then the graphics card, then right click to update device software.

Step 5: Select Browse my computer for driver software. In the next window, select the folder where you extracted the driver. That will solve the problem.

For my portable 32-bit with ATI Mobility Radeon X 600, I chose the "ATI Technologies Inc. driver update for MOBILITY RADEON X 600 SE (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM).

  • Pavilion G6 1304SM: not updated for Win10, AMD graphics card causes serious productivity issues

    Hello.

I bought my laptop around August 2012. A week ago I updated my computer laptop Windows 10 x 64 to Windows 7 x 64 operating system. Then I did a clean install of Windows.

I got almost all the driver through Windows Update software. However, the driver for my graphics (Intel HD 3000 + AMD Radeon HD M 7450), I received is defective.

In Device Manager, the AMD graphics card is referred to as "AMD Radeon HD 7000 series" instead of "AMD Radeon HD M 7450" (the way he recalled on Windows 7).

On the site Web of the product on hp.com, where I used to see a large list of all downloadable drivers, specially designed for this computer, HP only pasted a label reading "Windows 10 drivers can be downloaded via Windows Update."

Running in graphical mode fixed, AMD is shown with a yellow exclamation point in Device Manager (I tried to update, but it says I have the latest version). I can't disable the Intel card, otherwise I'm stuck with a resolution of 800 x 600.

In dynamic mode (the one I'm used to working on), I used to set which application uses what GPU via the Catalyst Control Center. However, now when I do that, if an application is set to run under AMD GPU, it never starts. (It will allocate about 30 MB in RAM - visible via the Task Manager - but will not open the main window). If I change the GPU to Intel, the slopes of the app, but under limited return capabilities.

I use extensively chart AMD. Not being is not able to use it causes problems of great productivity for me. Are there possible solutions for me, not to mention that roll back to Windows 7?

    Hello @tbc3434,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I read your post on the switchable graphics and wanted to help you!

You can try to download graphics drivers for Windows 7/8.  If you're still having problems, then you can opt to go back to a previous generation option, in your system settings:

HP Notebook PC - upgrade to Windows 10

Once you return to your original operating system, check to see if you encounter the same problem. If this isn't the case, then you can consider holding off on upgrading Windows 10 until the drivers can be updated.

Please let me know if this information helps you solve the problem by marking this message as 'accept as Solution' , this will help others easily find the information they seek.  In addition, by clicking on the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thank you!

I do not work for HP.
I am a computer technician and a passion for computing with more than 32 years of computer repair and networking experience

Never mind, figured it out. It is the HDMI2av converter. The converter might work power HDMI port or a separate power connection. The card is not enough voltage to run it. Then when I plugged it without external power supply it would draw so much tension that he caused the GPU to lock up.

    Hello:

There are no replaceable graphics card in your model.  It is integrated into the motherboard.

There is probably a problem with the graphics driver.

There is no updated driver from HP for your model.  Just the original below.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=CP-97608-1&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=4063&product=5156979&sw_lang=

You should be able to use the latest graphic driver directly from the graphics card AMD and hopefully that will solve the problem that you are experiencing.

You want the first driver on the Web page.

With the Xpress 200 integrated graphics, you will not be able to get Aero or other effects of Windows 7.

You can adapt a motherboard graphics card: AGP or PCI-E slot there. A Radeon 3400 or other card compatible Windows 7 can be pretty cheap and would provide Aero and other effects of Windows 7.

  • How to install radeon hd 4550 graphic card in acer aspire m3470g?

I got it on my hp.  on the hp I just hooked it up and it worked immediately.  I plugged on sucks it and neither she nor the original integrated

Radeon hd 6530d worked.  Acer has been of no help.  pull it out and the 6530 d was back to normal.  Maybe the hd4550 would not improve performance anyway?  If this isn't the case, I don't want to waste any more time with it.  can anyone answer

    1. graphic performance will improve with the 4550?

    2. If Yes, how should I complete the installation?

    Allan

Have you plugged the power cable from pci-e card?

The HD4550 is a low end card, but it can give better performance than the
AMD integrated graphics card. In part because he has dedicated memory (VRAM).
The 512 MB model would be more likely to have better performance than the
    256MB model.

You must install the drivers for the HD4550. Download them the site of ATI/AMD.

Download page for driver Win7 64 bit

MFG such as Acer, HP, DELL, etc often use their own drivers, and if they do not have
provide your machine with this card, they wouldn't be worth making the drivers for it.
If the ATI/AMD drivers do not help so maybe not that you can do.

BTW - you also need a power supply with 300-350W to run this card.
