  Hello, I have been using Windows 7 on this PC for over 2 years now, but I have very recently started having problems with my audio cutting out randomly. The problem comes immediately after the start and is usually after a few hours of use, usually once I'm in a PC game or listening to music. The audio will cut in and out frequently once it starts, and what I'm listening becomes unintelligible due to cut. My temporary solution is to reboot, which gets rid of the problem for a few hours.

  The problem persists, all programs, which means that it is not only in games, or only on YouTube, etc. It is quite irritating that I stop what I do to reboot and hope the problem goes away. I did a lot of research and have yet to find a solution. I thought it was my audio drivers, and I didn't know that they were obsolete, so I've updated them, but the problem persists. I guess that the problem has something to do with my use of the CPU, since it happens only a few hours after I start my PC.

I suspect that your system is running several programs more than actually necessary background for normal operation. I suggest that you start in a "clean boot" environment and if the problem did not reassert itself, start watching substantive programs which have been disabled and decide that you do permanently without.
