Audiobooks ID3 tag? Publishers of ID3 tags?

I am downloading of audiobooks in Librivox.org and kind/track #s are not filled.  What is the correct kind of audio books on the Clip: "Audiobook", "Audiobooks", does it matter if I drag the book in audio books on the Clip file?

I keep seeing people who recommend ID3 tag specific "publishers" - are these editors really one more advantage to just using Windows Explorer "Properties"? (In Explorer, you can hilite the entire group of MP3 files, change the properties and enter the Album, author and like to apply it to the entire list, and it works fine for me except for the track-specific information).  ID3 tags publishers can manage trail edition numbers massively?

Thank you!

If I remember correctly, the tag type to be used is Audiobook, singular (I had a problem with the plural when I used a year - that could change over time).  Note that an advantage in the field like, or put audio books in this folder (which is not required to read the files), is that the Clip will be default to the names of file and folder, if the labels of fields are not filled; same as podcasts.  In addition, the Clip will be autobookmark audiobooks and podcasts in the files of audio books and Podcasts (I don't remember if she will also be autobookmark audiobooks and podcasts out records, but with the kind of field filled - I think?).  I like to use different folders on the Clip for the Organization of the files.

Publishers of tags will allow "batch" (massively) changes of files and often in a very robust way.  I think this is why many will use it to explore.  For example, many publishers of tags will be change / fill in the tags file names or vice versa.  I love the free program MP3Tag - easy to use.  And the sponsor is a very robust program as well (though more complicated).

  • ID3 tags to change during the transfer on USB

When my iMac to transfer on a USB mp3 tracks, the ID3 tags are somehow get reversed. My car stereo then displays the correct track number, but plays and the false name of audio and the railway. In this particular case, I try to transfer an audiobook with 66 chapters. I named the files 001, 002, etc. in order to read in the correct order. ID3 tags are named Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc. I can't understand why so, when read in my car, it will show track 001, but read the audio Chapter 4 and show Chapter 4. The funny thing is, does it only on my Mac. If I transfer files from my Mac to work they correctly and display all the correct information. I tried to copy from iTunes and from the finder directly and pass the ID3 info in both directions; They even produce different results, but both are mixed up. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I don't know how to copy the files on your player could possibly change the iD3 tags.  They are part of the file, and it would be like saying take a book on a shelf and put it in a box caused some pages from the book to the book.  Are you sure that the track numbers you see are the real file names?  I think the most likely is despite the naming convention of the file that you are using your player somehow files out of use.  I imagine that you have provided the correct order in the track number and if there are a number of disk that it conforms to the order you want too.

  • Support ID3 tag to determine the order of play

    Hello

I read about the problems, the Clip has in getting the correct reading order, for example here, but I can't seem to make it work. Audiobook mp3s are labeled with ID3v1.1, ID3v2.3. I tried to use Mp3tag to set the ID3v2.3 to ISO-8859-1. All files have the same name of Album, athletics # a value XXX/YYY (ex: 001/145) for ID3v2.3 and 1, 2, 3... 145 for ID3v1.1. Title tags are on 'Track 001', «track 002"...»

I can't understand why the files do not play in order...    Anyone have any ideas?  (except using playlist, because I won't be forced using that)

Does anyone have any idea on when this new version of the firmware (which is supposed to solve these problems) is to come?  Someone wrote a few weeks it would probably come out in a few weeks ago...

    Sincerely,

    Carl

P.S. If Sandisk won't spend enough money to keep the amount of programmers needed to produce firmware quickly and efficiently, perhaps Sandisk should consider assisting people to Rockbox on so that users with higher applications can use their software instead. I understand that Sandisk is not a) distribute detailed information on everything about their players and b) vouch for the security/stability of Rockbox. But it doesn't have to be a problem. SanDisk could leave small fractions of the information (which is necessary for Rockbox crew clear some obstacles) and Sandisk could also say that 'we cannot guarantee that any other firmware that ours will work with our players and if you use a different firmware, for example Rockbox Sandisk warranty sucks." It's all good - as long as those of us who have demands more high on firmware get a solution that responds to that!  I think of things like the id3 support to reading to work order and the ability to adjust different parameters, for example the speed of the titles of the songs that are too wide for display.

    Hello again,

After countless hours of research and testing, I now realized in the order in which the Clip plays the tracks when using firmware 02.01.16 (I really hope a new firmware that corrects these problems is available soon, as promised).

As has been set out in the thread I linked at the earliest:

When no id3v2 tag is present, the titles are sorted by sequence numbers rightmost in the name of the file.

However, I used id3v2.3 tag to ISO, as is the recommended version that the firmware currently supports a little OK. The problem I had, however, was that I used numbers track such as "001/145" and not only "001". Now, according to id3.org, using a character ' / ' followed by a string of numbers to indicate the size of the entire securities is valid standard id3v2.3 - but obviously the Clip doesn't respect that. I hope that this is also fixed with the next version of the firmware.

    Kind regards

    Carl

P.S., Why should I do research/test so to find something as simple as that? Where is the complete guide, published by Sandisk, which covers these things? Here again, questions such as these id3 problems should have be fixed early on (making the chapter in the guide on relatively short tracks sorting).

P.P.S. I was serious about the suggestion of Rockbox: thinking outside the box! Provide assistance to the crew of Rockbox, without revealing a lot of sensitive information (trade secrets), and without having to officially support Rockbox should be possible - and that would be actually a selling point to many users who want to buy a mp3 player which allows more freedom of choice. Dare to be different!

[edit: I put this thread as "Resolved", even if the underlying problem (the clip tag id3 support) is far from solved.]

  • How can I control or change the ID3 tags with the new v12.4 of iTunes?

On the latest version of iTunes (12.3), right click on a file gave the option "Convert ID3 Tags"... ».

Mr Apple, why put obstacles for those working?

It is still possible, but is no longer a part of the menu of right - or control-click option.  Now, it is available at:

I just noticed that.  That's a no-no.  They REALLY blew it.  Is any more convenient.  They got rid of all the shortcuts at the top and you have to click in the menus to get where you want.  Not good!

They's also rid the shortcut CREATE list READING GENIUS. You must go through the right-click menu, suggestions of genius, then at the bottom of this menu select save playlist.  I'm going back to the previous version.

It seems that every update that they make worse it!  They are deliberately crippling iTunes because they are getting rid of the purchased music.

  • How can I keep the photo files id3 tagging? (And video files?)

    Hello.

This question is about id3 tagging files photo (and video?). Probably, it revolves around managing the media too.

I have tif and jpg files that I took of the old and the new point and shoot cameras. What I'm trying to do, is to have jpg and tif of the originals. Make some changes and have a jpg and tif amendment. So I have 4 files for each image (2 independent is the original and 2 Edition). I want a lossy and lossless for each file.

I've bothered to fill out somethings in the id3 tagging. When I tried some changes in batches to get the files, id3 tags was empty.

I use Windows XP SP3 Home Edition 32-bit. I tried to use FormatFactory to an export batch. I use Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X 3 also, who gave the same results.

In Windows XP: I right click on the file, the Properties tab, I think it's the details. In my view, title, author, subject, keywords, comments. It's the id3 tagging which not copied.

When I right click and COPY a file, it keeps the id3 tags.

I really think there's a way to deal with this. Anyone use? Nobody cares? Need scripts and a certain program? I don't think that I would have to pay for it. How professionals and more or less experienced people do it?

I don't want a markup that is recognized by some programs. I can do that already, but it is too advantageous. I won't tag id3 4 times. I don't want a watermark.

Are the methods or rules identical for Win Vista, Win7 or Win8? I have 32-bit and 64-bit Vista Home Premium, but have not tried it on there. I have to start the migration of files again. Vista is choose with id3 tagging anyway from what I tried. I keep said that Win7 is similar or the same.

    I thank you very much.

    A place to start...

When a photo is copied... a new version of the file is created.
During this process, some software will remove metadata
    in the file properties.

The only insurance that I can think of would be to make a backup of the
metadata, then restore the metadata if it is deleted.

The following freeware has not been updated in a long time, but is
a proven method to backup metadata.  Also the site
    suggests other alternatives.

  • Sansa View MicroSD + ID3 tags

    Hello

The Sansa View fits the ID3 tags of songs on the MicroSD card in the library? I have a few dozen songs on my MicroSD, all the tag using Windows Explorer, but they have all displayed as 'unknown' in the library view.

    Thanks for any help.

    -Rob

I do not know what version of Windows ID3 writes the tags like, but Sansas prefer ID3v2.3 ISO-8859-1. You can use a program like MP3Tag to edit (and change the version, if necessary) the tags and see if that helps.

  • Navigate by folder / no id3 tags don't?

    Hi people,

about to buy a rocket or a clip +.  Like the look of the fuse except for -

I listen to downloaded etc. podcasts that are not always id3 tag correctly and I want to be able to navigate by folder on the device, not just the id3 tags.  (Yes I know id3 is better and I'll use it, but I don't want to add tags myself if I'm in a hurry - want the ability to navigate by folder if I have to.)

Is the last "rocket" with the latest firmware allows navigation by folder?

Are there problems with not finding securities that are not marked on the right?  For visits I'm sure with the clip or the fuse will find things by filename if it is to... ?

Sorry, I know, it's probably covered, but I looked and still not sure on that.

In addition, question 2 - other positions am I good this clip + to gapless play ability which is not the "rocket"?

    Thank you people!

    Yes.

Only if you are searching through the menu lists. With folders, no.

    Or the other.

My account, this is your 4th question.

At the current time the Clip + does not support the reading. But stay tuned, it could be an update of the firmware. We can always hope.

  • New Firmware, id3 and ReplayGain problem tags

I have problems getting a few metafields id3 showing correctly with the new firmware (1.02.26F).
With the previous firmware, I used 'id3v2.3 + id3v1' type tag and it work perfectly, but with the new firmware it does not recognize the ReplayGain values. So I tried with id3v2.4, but now it does not recognize the metafield value type and with some files show strange values for track/Album Gain (e.g., dB-46 shows, 440, instead of + 3.56 dB. It is interesting-46.44 - 3.56 =-50; or dB - 48, 10, instead of + 1.90 dB. (- 48.1 - 1, 90 = mmm... okay, all mp3 files with track/Album Gain greater than 0.00dB show '-50.00 + realvalue'). If I play these files with ON Replaygain, volume will be very slow (as expected) and it is not possible to change the output volume (i.e., the output volume is the same what the Volume slider position is located, except in muted, which will cut.) I guess, because the gain is too important, volume slider to maximum is not enough to ensure that the output out of minimum volume).
    I mean, mp3 files with:
    -' id3v2.3 + id3v1' and "id3v2.3" types of tags, will not show Replaygain values;
-' id3v2.4 + id3v1' tag types, does not recognize kind metafield.
-the types of tags "id3v2.4", recognizes no Genre, artist, Album and title metafields.
ReplayGain values - > 0.00 dB, will display an incorrect value.

In addition, in the track info:
    -None of them show year;
-List them all track number as xy, where x = TRACK number and y = TOTALTRACKS metafields.
-Ditto for the number of the disk. XY, where x = DISCNUMBER and y = TOTALDISCS.

    I tag with foobar2000.

In regards to the Vorbis comment, works perfectly.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Apparently there is incompatibility of all a rocket with foobar2000 mp3 QS.

For the bug ReplayGain, Fuze will have problems reading the values with the "+" inside. I remove the workaround Nice '+' with Mp3Tag as shown here .

This will also fix the value TYPE showing a minor issue "unknown."

Date field still will not appear in the track info, although (zero size).

Regarding the TOTALTRACKS thing, is how foobar2000 stores in id3 as explained here:

    [HydrogenAudio] Mapping tag foobar2000:ID3

TOTALTRACKS: Stored in the same frame with TRACK number, separated by ' / ': for example "' 4/9.

TOTALDISCS: Stored in the same frame with DISCNUMBER, separated by ' / ': for example "1/2 '.

so Fuze displays the correct values, but it cannot show ' / '.

Basically, marking with foobar2000 mp3 files:

"ID3v2 writer compatibility mode" - ONE-> Fuze won't read ReplayGain values calculated by foob2000.

'ID3v2 writer compatibility mode -' OFF-> Fuze will not recognize kind metafield.

  • Required for .mp3 files ID3 tags?

I recently bought a rocket (2 GB + 8 GB SDHC) to use on Suse Linux 10.1.  I have updated the firmware of the rocket to V01.01.22A.

I quickly discovered that the "rocket" does not display a directory and file names, but the ID3 data. I also discovered the CD I ripped with Clary gave ID3 and present as unknowns.  So, find mutagen (python code that implements ID3 stuff) and writes code to add the tags I thought would be important, for example (ignore the line TCON for awhile):

    Tuxr. Demento 30th Anniversary Collection (CD 1) = > mid3v2 - list-gross *.
RAW IDv2 tag info for 03. The Elements.mp3:

    TPE1 (encoding = 3, text = [u'The Dead alewives])
    TIT2 (encoding = 3, text = [u'06. ([Dungeons & Dragons'])

A file copied by itunes long time presents:

    TCMP (encoding = 0, text = [u '1'])
    TPE1 (encoding = 0, text = [u 'Torla, Gayle'])
    THOMAS (encoding = 0, text = [u '2002'])
    TIT2 (encoding = 0, text = [u'Let Love Guide Your Heart ""])
    EVEL (encoding = 0, text = [u 'iTunes v4.9.0.17'])
    TRCK (encoding = 0, text = [u'' 4/19])
    OPC (encoding = 0, text = [u'1: 1'])
TAREK (encoding = 0, text = [u'Sounds of the Islands])
    COMM (encoding = 0, lang = 'en', / / desc = u 'iTunes_CDDB_IDs', text = [u'19 + 957CE2ACB34B27EDE59206D31FC80BC6 + 2748326'])
    TCON (encoding = 0, text = [u '(80)'])

The works of reading itunes file, those that I've updated unknown/unknown/track display data during playback, and I don't see what could miss with the exception of this kind (see thread some MP3 files are not recognized by rocket).  So I added that TCON I said to ignore for a bit and that didn't change things.

So, are there other ID3 tags that are a must have?  Another oddity, it's that when I plugged the "rocket" in the Windows box, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Windows Explorer displays metadata when you right-click on a file and select Properties.  However, the files that I have problems with had their metadata displayed.  Open the contextual menu properties, but the data were empty.

I'll try to drop the 0 TRCK and a few other things.

I just noticed the encoding = 3 in my files.  I better go learn what it is all, if things set of character, it could be a problem of ascii/utf-8.

Yes, Yes, I use MonkeyMedia or something else, but this means the implementation of Samba or the transfer of several GB of data around this laptop.

I redid my experience of coding UTF-8/ISO-8859-1, this time take an mp3 file, making 16 copies of it and the definition of artist/album/song/track with each of the 16 possibilities.  I knew that the song would be displayed with an encoding, so I used that to save each permutation.  I used the first character to specify the encoding used in the editing software, so the 0c3a0s0t3 song meant c3 = artist/composer in 3 encoding (UTF), a0 = album in coding (ISO) 0, s0 = 0 coding song and t3 = encoding 3 track.

I don't know if the track is displayed everywhere.  The artist and the Album appear as unknown in 3 encoding and while the song arises to 3 encoding, changed - the top 3 goes and the rest is converted to uppercase.  Odd.

So I guess that means that the "rocket" does not handle UTF.  I think I can live with that, but I have a few drives in Russian, and I could get into trouble with different classic tracks.  (Who would have more problems with illegal characters in filenames FAT, I was trying to use album and follow channels under the names of directories and files.)

I'll mark this as the solution, assuming I say that...

  • Why microsoft does not update Windows 7 to add support for ID3 2.4 tags?

Most media players these days write 2.4 ID3 tags for MP3 and Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer can read these tags. And because of this all my music files will appear as unknown track, artist, album. And it's really annoying.

    Hello Yvette,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community!

I'm sorry to inform you that Explorer Windows and Windows Media Player can not handle the ID3 version 2.4tags in any version, up to and including Windows 7/Windows Media Player 12. Windows can understand ID3 until and including version 2.3.

  • Tag Windows 7 ID3 2.4 and Windows Explorer ID3 manipulation

Is there something in the works to update Windows 7 to manage ID3v2.4?

Also, I noticed that Windows Explorer incorrectly manages ID3v2.3 TPE1 "Artist" tags like 'Contributing artists' and TPE2 ' Band/Orchestra/accompaniment' as 'Artist of the Album'.

Simple thing, it is that many programs automatically convert ID3v2.3 to ID3v2.4 tags when changes are made from within the program. In some cases, the program may be forced to use ID3v2.3, but all cannot. It would be nice if Windows caught up with the current format.

  • Export WAV in several ID3 tag MP3s

Did a search in the forums here and elsewhere online, doesn't seem to find the answer... Although very few people asking. I have a single WAV file recording that I divided in person named tracks using markers to cue. Each marker was appointed to the title of the track, as shown in how to videos from Adobe. In the metadata Panel (Ctrl/Cmd + p) global ID3 tags include artist, Album, Date and Genre. If I added a title or track number, it gives me the same number title or track for everything during export.

When I export "Audio within the range markers", with "Include markers and other metadata" checked, I almost what I am looking for but not quite. It exports files individual mp3 appointed by marker (according to my settings). The title ID3 tag, however, is not populated with the marker title and track number is always empty.

No there is no way to export from a WAV in several MP3 with ID3 full? If the number of title and the track is not met by automatically, which I suppose would be the title of marker, is there a way to define data tag ID3 individual track in the master WAV file that would make when exporting?

I use CC hearing on Mac OS X 10.8. I do not see the ID3 tag data complete in VLC, iTunes or in the properties of the file.

Thanks for any help, or if someone can point me in the right direction.

Here's a Visual of what I've put up:

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1175736/tmp/aa_wav_mp3_screenshot.png

    Update:

Unable to find a viable solution within the hearing itself, I use the free MusicBrainz Picard app that seems to make the job a bit quicker that VLC does. It is regrettable to have to rely on a third party for something like this application as much as there are already some possibilities of ID3 tagging in hearing. I hope I'm just something missing, would like to have these files"" WAV Master "with all these data already there on a case where I have to re-export in the future..." "

Unfortunately, I can only in coherence with a resounding "me too!"   Very frustrating to have to use an application of part 3 (that I use Tagr) and then, if I find myself re-export a track (or all) again for mounting, I re - tag all the files using Tagr.

Also, I must say that reach the beach of numbers ONLY for names output end marker is lame. Put the 01, 02, etc in front of tracks would be useful since the track number field does not work either!

    Hello world:

I spent my whole day trying to find a good way to access the ID3 tags in AS3.0. but can't find anything useful.

In my project I am doing a sound object and assign a URL:

Then I hear the sound in a sound channel:
