Tecra M9 - keys Phantom

Hello

I'm just frustrated with the ghost keys on my Toshiba Tecra M9.
It keeps printing a character mainly 7 all the time everywhere.
I can't do my work in peace.
I connected an external USB keyboard, but even this does not help.

Help, please!

> I plugged an external USB keyboard, but even this does not help.
Which is really strange. I thought that the keyboard may be defective, but there must be a serious problem. Maybe keyboard controller.

    Hello

Can you please tell us what OS you have?

Normally if the FN keys stop working you should try to reinstall Toshiba Value added Package. It control keys FN and other special functions and in my case reinstall this package has worked.

    You can download it here:

Do you see the same behavior with an external keyboard? I recommend you test it to determine if it s internal keyboard itself or another problem.

  • Re: FN + F8 on Tecra A2 key combination does not work

    Hello

I recently installed a new copy of Windows XP SP2 on my Tecra A2 (pta20e).
I installed all the drivers drivers Toshiba page and everything works fine except my FN + F8 combo wireless.
The FN keys work with other FN keys and wireless network is it.

I can't turn it on. I welcomed the key FN in the BIOS settings I was hoping would fix, but it didn't. I also read other discussions on this problem without success so I m stuck.

    Help, please.

    Hello

I think there must be a problem with your installation if FN + F8 key combination doesn't work...
What drivers/tools that you have installed in what order?

Normally, you need to install common Modules of Toshiba and controls tool. You can find it on the official website of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/

By the way: common Modules must be installed in the first place. If you have already installed, try reinstalling it.

  • Laptop Tecra - right key Alt F4

This is my first post so I apologize for the errors, they are unintentional. Now, anyone know of a method can be used by the right key alt f4 to be functional instead of shutting down the computer.

It is a requirement of a game.

As far as I know, ALT + F4 closes the applications but may not be used for the stopping of the laptop.
FN + F4 enable hibernation and portable mode will be "stopped".

  • Tecra M10 - stuck - CTRL key question may be to do with the BIOS?

    Hello and thanks for reading.

I recently changed my Tecra M10 to Windows 7 (from XP), and it quickly developed the dreaded question-button stuck CTRL This causes the keyboard behaves as if the CTRL key is pressed continuously. Sometimes reaching a key combination, or bring up the on-screen keyboard, temporarily solves the problem, but he returned.

It seems to be a problem that many people have no simple solution. I watched each thread that I find and tried a lot of things to do with drivers etc without success.

So first of all, if anyone knows a remedy that works for this particular machine, I would be very grateful to hear!

Then, there are two things that I did not yet: updating the BIOS and turn off pinch zoom.

I was watching the following BIOS update:

    http://www.Toshiba-Asia.com/SG/support/drivers/details/25244

... which is the version 3.00 and seem to be more recent. My version is 1.90.

However, version 3.00 is labeled "for PTMB0 * ONLY. I don't know what that means or if it applies to me. Can anyone help? Should I install this BIOS?

For the pinch zoom, I was informed that disable sometimes cures the problem CTRL - but I can't find any installation zoom pinch on the M10. I think he doesn't have any one. Is this fair?

Thanks much for any help you can give.

    Hello

    > I was watching the next BIOS update. is the version 3.00, which seems to be most recent. My version is 1.90.

There are different Tecra M10 models on the market.
Check the labels at the bottom of the unit. There you should find numbers like for example PTMB0E-01K00LGR

The first 6 characters are important: for example PTMB0E

I guess that your laptop belongs to the series of Europeans.
In this case, you should check the page of the Toshiba UE driver for a possible update of the BIOS.
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

However, on the page of the Toshiba UE driver you will also find the BIOS for all European units Tecra M10 v3.0.

Anyway, back to Ctrl + button question: guess what, you need to connect an external USB keyboard and must check how is the CTRL key.
In case the USB keyboard would work properly, the internal keyboard CTRL key is assigned and you will need to replace the internal keyboard.

PS: it would be possible that the "sticky keys" option has been activated. To disable this feature, you must press SHIFT 5 times in the line.

  • Tecra A11 PTSEOU: Some keyboard keys not working not

    Hello

In my Toshiba Tecra A11 PTSEOU - 08904L model, some of the keys on keyboard did not, initially, key 6 did not work. But now about 12 keys did not work.

When I press one of these keys, I hear a single beep and nothing happens.
Even I can't see the bios menu when you start the computer as "press f2 for boot menu".

Is there something to do with the bios for this problem?
I tried updating the bios, but the installation failed saying incompatible bios. Help, please

    Thank you
    Thawfeek.

    > Is there something to do with the bios for this problem?
    BIOS? Why ORGANIC?
I assume that the problem of its equipment and you will have to replace the internal keyboard.

Just to confirm the problem with keyboard: you can connect external USB keyboard.
In case the external keyboard would work correctly, the problem is related to the internal keyboard.

    Hello

You can replace only the key caps but not all buttons!
If you need another keyboard configuration I recommend contact the dealer again and replace the keyboard.

  • Tecra S1 - XP product key is not accepted

    Dear all,

I have a Tecra S1 where the original hard drive is completely broke down. I put a new hard drive in this laptop and I would like to install windows again. Unfortunately, I don't have the original windows CD that must be delivered with this laptop. Until now, I've tried 3 installation CD but all these CD recognize not the product key at the bottom of my laptop.

Does anyone know how to get a correct installation CD?
Anyone know what to change to get the CD here, I must accept the key on the bottom of my computer?

In advance thank you very much for your help

    Martijn

    Hi Martijn,

I think you mean the product key on the underside of the computer laptop, right?
Well, this key doesn't work with normal disks of Microsoft because it s an OEM license key and belongs to the version preinstalled Windows.
If you install Windows on a normal Microsoft disc, you need to use the key that belongs to this disc!

You can also install Windows Toshiba Recovery disk, but if you don t have such a disc ask your provider of local service for it.

  • Tecra A10 is missing a few key press detection

    Hi all

I have a strange problem for a long time, which is annoying me.

My Tecra almost since I bought it have some problems especially to character keys keys detection '' and ~. However the problem never happens with the two keys at the same time.
My first assumption was that I was garbage under the key, I tried to clean it up and tried again; the problem persisted.

My second attempt was to restart the PC, and surprisingly, it worked. The conclusion is quite clear, is not a dirty keyboard, the problem is something else, but I have no idea how to solve.

Is there someone else with a similar problem? Does anyone have an idea to solve the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Have you tried an external USB keyboard?
I guess that if the buttons would work correctly using an external keyboard, the problem is related to the breakdown of internal keyboard
In this case, replace the internal keyboard.

    Welcome them

  • Tecra A2 - view the FN keys to adjust brightness of the screen don't work

    Hello everyone,

I've just set up my old laptop TECRA A2 with a newer version of Windows XP (including SP3).
Everything works fine. The only problem is that I can't access my FN keys to increase or decrease the brightness of the screen.

I installed all the drivers and I recognized that the problem is a not good installed saver, although I downloaded the 'new' Power Saver for the TECRA A2.

After installation it still appears the message; "You have no access rights to access energy savings." Now, it's strange that I have logged in as administrator of the A2.

As I'm still struggeling with this problem I ask really help and support.
Everything else works fine and well, it's just this question that I am not able to adjust the brightness of the display.

Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

    Best regards
    JO

    Hello

You need to install the common Module first.
This module is an essential component of Windows systems.
He will perform the other original programming from TOSHIBA to work properly.

Then, you must install that many energy-saving he managed the brightness of the display.

    Welcome them

  • Tecra A11 - space keyboard key issue

Just wonder, if someone with an A11 has similar problems or my keyboard needs to be replaced.

When I type, very often the space key is not accepted. Very annoying when you type without looking at the text of all time.

    Hello

I m not Tecra A11 owner but on my other laptops Toshiba, I have never had a problem with the keyboard. Each key will be recognized properly if I press on it.

I guess than your Tecra A11 is fairly new so it of still under warranty. Please contact the nearest authorized service provider. Guys can replace the keyboard because there is no unique key.
But don t you worry not about it, it is covered by the warranty. :)
