AutoCAD on fusion on macbook pro

Hello community!

My name is Gaston and I m from Uruguay, South America...

I wanted to know how much vmware fusion would work with a macbook pro 2.53 hz processor intel core 2 duo, 4g of ram.

Use main im going to give it is with Autocad 2009 which is quite heavy and other engineering only for windows operating system software.

It's going to be too slow? If I want with bootcamp? Should I use bootcamp and vmware together (bootcamp for when I need more juice)... ?

Should what windows I use? Will it work with windows 7?

I know that I have too many questions! Sorry guys... its going to im just spend a lot of money on a new macbook and I want to make it work in the best possible way.

Thank you all so much for any piece of advice.

Gaston.

It's the pleasure to help, gschapira =)

7200 RPM drive makes a huge difference.

My situation: I have 2 macbook pro s... a 15 "of 2006 (2.16 GHz, 2 GB RAM, come with a 120 GB 5400 RPM drive) and a 13 '' 2 weeks ago which has been upgraded to the reader of 7200 rpm from the start.

I ran Fusion on my first macbook pro since the beginning, and it was certainly usable.  I noticed a significant slowdown in overall performance, things just took some time to do something.

Recently, I replaced the hard drive myself in the 15 "and went with a 320 GB 7200 RPM for like $130.  I am certified Apple, so I am uncomfortable, replace the drive myself, but it is not for the faint of heart.

I thought I have some questions that you described... heat, noise... but on the contrary it actually ran quieter without significant change in the weather.  (Obviously you do not use these computers on your lap, because it isn't a "laptop", is a 'portable').  Other than that, no issues whatsoever.  The whole system is much more sensitive, and I have several virtual machines open at the same time with little slowdown.  I couldn't have even more than 1 virtual machine with disk 5400 RPM.

So here's my advice: If you get a 13 ", Apple will not install the drive for you, then you will need to find someone Apple certified to do.  New models make it SUPER easy to make, and it is not void the warranty if you have someone certified Apple the fact.  If you went with the model 15 ", 7200 RPM drive is an upgrade of a $50 Apple and well worth the effort.

Buy from apple.com is your best bet for a number of reasons.  They made your date of purchase, if your warranty is all set up correctly.  You can easily add the hard drive put in level during the process of extraction/configure that applecare is convenient too, in case you have any questions after your 1 year warranty expires.

N ° all THE graphics are emulated, and all instructions are carried out by the host CPU.  Well, technically, the graphics are drawn to the video card in the host / drivers... video and 3d graphics require certain levels of video hardware and driver support.  So if you want 3d graphics in your comments you will need a video card that can support it. but I think that NVidia card, you mention will support him.

  • Can I run Snow Leopard with the latest version of VMware Fusion on a MacBook Pro for mid-2012?

I have a Snow Leopard install disc (version 10.6.3), but my MacBook Pro for mid-2012 allow me to install it.  Is this possible using the latest version of VMware Fusion?

If it is a commercial version of Mac OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard Server not Client, then Yes.

  • MacBook Pro + Thunderbolt display vs VMWare Fusion

    Configuration:

    -New MacBook Pro

    -New Thunderbolt display

-Keyboard and mouse plugged into the USB ports on Thunderbolt display

-VMWare Fusion 4.0.2 running a Ubuntu 10.04 VM

If I turned the laptop without the screen plugged and then plug into the screen, the keyboard and the mouse (connected on the screen) do not respond. I need to unplug the display and plug it in again, and then, usually, the devices will work. I'm going back with Apple support, and he got up to what they wanted me to ship everything back - they have not seen this before.

I then had a hunch that merger (which is still running) may cause a problem. Of course - if I stop or suspend my VM before connecting the screen, everything works fine. So I strongly suspect a bug in Fusion.

    Anyone else seeing this?

    Jack Orenstein

VMware Fusion 4.1 addresses a compatibility issue with the USB devices connected via a Thunderbolt display. You will be prompted to auto-update the next time you restart VMware Fusion (or manually check the updates).

  • NEED HELP! How can I get 2560 * 1600 on Win 7? MacBook Pro 17 + Dell 30 inch PAM 3008 + Fusion 3

I run THAT VM Ware Fusion 3 on a Mac Book Pro 17 hooked up to a Dell 30 inch screen

I can manage to get a resolution of 2560 * 1600 on the MacBook Pro.

However, the highest resolution I can get Win 7 is 2048 * 15336 (and I want to be able to set it to 2560 * 1600 to take advantage of my 30-inch screen!)

I searched the KB and found an article that mentioned that I should add the following lines in the vmx file (which I did)

The lines are at the bottom of the vmx file

    svga.maxWidth = "2560.

    svga.maxHeight = "1600".

    svga.vramSize = "16384000".

    KB Article: http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC & docType = kc & externalId = 1003 & sliceId = 1 & docTypeID = DT_KB_1_1 & dialogID = 63746028 & StateID = 0% 200% 2066741566

I did handling described in the KB above, however, restarted several times, but I still can't correct resolution to show in Windows

Did you install VMware Tools? Without need of any settings to the file .vmx, the highest resolution I see is 2560 x 1920 (and 2560 x 1600 is an option).

Edit: I suggest going out changes to the .vmx file, you set the size to 16 MB VRAM max

  • Best new MacBook Pro for Fusion 3 + Windows 7 designs?

    Hello

Thinking of getting a new MacBook Pro: probably the 13 inch with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB SSD drive, model so that I can run various test VM in quickly for the work.

Is the NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M graphics good enough to chip for Windows 7 with Aero under Fusion 3?    Or is the MacBook Pro 15 inch worth getting just for the NVIDIA GeForce 9600 M chip graphic GT card?

Is there any point of paying more for a slightly faster processor?  Model 13-inch offer 2.26 GHz or 2.53 GHz.  The 15-inch model has several choices, up to 3.06 GHz.

I'm not really a player, but it would be nice to have a machine that was fast enough to play the occasional 3D game correctly!

    Any thoughts?

    -Martin.

I own a fine 2.26 Ghz 13 '' MacBook Pro 4 GB and Aero factory with a 9400.  I'm a regular reader of pin no SSD, though. If you want I can run the Windows Experience index so you can compare my specs against other models.  Most of the latest models from Apple, including the latest minis can run Aero very well, if all you want is confirmation, if not, you make a subjective decision here.

  • Installation of Windows 7 to be run as a VM Fusion on a MacBook Pro

I installed Windows 7 RC on my Mac Pro (I used a whole HARD drive and I go under Boot Camp).

I would like to install Windows 7 RC on my new laptop (gen MacBook Pro). There were a few disuccsions here when Win7 was the public beta Boot Camp or Fusion supporter, but I didn't know all the problems again with installing Boot Camp on my Mac Pro. The MacBook Pro, I haven't decided whether to perform the installation in a new Boot Camp partition (I currently have XP installed as a Fusion VM only) or only as a VM in Mac OS under Fusion. My questions:

    1. Can I use the same. ISO installer I already downloaded from the Microsoft site and engraved on a DVD; i.e., I need a unique activation code? If the answer is 'yes' is there a way to get a second Microsoft activation code without having to download another. ISO installer image?

    2. Once I solved that, can I install a VM Win7 on Fusion 2.0.4? If this is not the case, can I create a new Boot Camp partition and install Win7, then adopt the machine?

    Thank you very much

    Jim Robertson

    Hello

Yes, you can even use. ISO Installer to install windows 7.0 on the merger, however, to cause activation, you may contact Microsoft. There is not necessary to create the new partition to boot camp, you can install windows 7 directly on the merger, you can check the link provided below, it will be useful:

  • Fusion 2.0.1 Shared Networking on MacBook Pro

I'm using Linux in Fusion on my MacBook Pro using NAT.  I did the installation at home via wireless network.  It worked well and I was able to access Internet from my VM.  At work, I have my MacBook Pro connected wired and wireless network.  My VM is now unable to access the Internet with a wired connection as default.  Is there a way for the merger of auto detection available network connection?  Is the only way for me to access the Internet at work is to physically disconnect my wired connection?  This doesn't seem to be very intelligent.  With Parallels, I have shared my my Airport/Ethernet network connection.  Is there a similar feature in the merger?

For vmnet8 (NAT virtual network) gateway is the address xxx.xxx.xxx.2, not du.1.

  • MacBook Pro vs. imac

Hi there I am looking to buy an iMac or a MacBook Pro with an outer screen for use home. I work mainly with architecture such as Revit and Autocad software. I also Lumion or 3dsmax. I use Photoshop and indesign to establish all my presentations also. I'll sometimes have to rhino as well.

My big problem is the speed of the machine. I know I need at least 16 GB of RAM and the in 27 iMac is attractive because I can always increase the RAM myself. I know I need dedicated GPU and separate the CPU for my renderings as well which I am sure that both the imac and the Macbook pro have. What I like is the portability of the MacBook Pro, but I fear that he will not be able to handle the amount of rendering, I need. But the SSD is attractive, although the car of fusion, of everything I read, is very similar in functional terms and offers plenty of space, which means that I would not necessarily need an external hard drive.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything would be helpful. To which model to get specs, all are welcome.

If you need any portability the MacBook Pro is your choice. Make sure you get the max RAM and storage.

  • AutoCAD 123D Fusion 3.1.2 crashes hard

AutoCAD has released a beta version of its new (free :-)) CAD program, 123D (http://www.123dapp.com/) which runs on various versions of Windows, including XP.  Requires support "Direct3D".  When it is run on a WinXP VM that it blocks the Fusion and Mac OS X.  Here are the details presented in the 123D beta forum:

Running 123D (32-bit) in Windows XP (with latest updates) running in a virtual machine on a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo using Fusion VMwares 3.1.2 (latest rev) and Mac OS X 10.6.7 (later).

The virtual machine is allocated 2 processors and 2 GB of RAM. 3D acceleration is lit and indicates the following:
Turn on the 3D graphics for the following virtual machines:
    • Windows XP: DirectX 9 .0c with Shader Model 3 and OpenGL 2.1
    • Windows Vista and Windows 7: DirectX 9.0EX with Aero and OpenGL 2.1

When I installed 123D, the process paused to upgrade DirectX MS software (which ended normally). 123D installation is completed without error message.

When I run 123D, I get the window "Get Started!" as indicated in the message from Nick. But when I try to open the sample project, I get a HANG TOUGH! In fact, it's so hard that send a CTRL-ALT-DEL for the VM does nothing. It still freezes the Fusion engine. I struggle to kill the process on Mac OS X. At once, it froze even Mac OS X, and I had to make a stop to hardware and restart! Never (!) who see with any application of Windows XP running on a computer before virtual! I suspect something really deep in the graphic chain - very impressive :-)

Actually, Mac OS X is probably still run, but the display is frozen, so it's okay.  I had to make a stop on the Mac to recover.

Did some additional testing with VMware Fusion on my Mac (configuration described above). Modified optimization of the GPU settings in Control Panel > views > settings > advanced > troubleshoot VMware SVGA II (dated from 21/04/2010 to: 11.06.00.0035) virtual driver GPU. There is a slider with 6 settings of all the optimizations to none.

With the lower settings, 123D complains of insufficient graphic support and does not start. With the higher settings, it crashes. No useful intermediate setting.

Definitely looks like something VMware needs to address. I'll see if I can get a copy of this thread in a report bug to them. Would be useful if the VMware and AutoCAD teams could collaborate on this one :-)

I downloaded the DirectX SDK from MS; guess the DirectX diagnostic tool is that it contains.  Will try to do some tests on 123D and Fusion.

Everyone at VMware has an idea of what's going on here?  All hope of repair? :-)

    Mike

Glad to hear, thanks for the update =)

  • Need help to install Windows 8.1 on the partition, bootcamp on Macbook Pro 15 "mid-2010 w / no optical drive"

I tried for almost a week in all possible ways to get windows installed on a boot camp partition on my main SSD 1 TB drive as a partition, or on my HARD drive, which is installed in place of the optical drive.  So far, everything I tried to give me some sort of error at some point in the process.  It seems that many of them are case by case, so I thought that I invite you all and see if you can help!

I use a Macbook Pro 15 "mid-2010 that I improved with a 1 TB SSD drive as the startup disk.  My optical drive was not functional, so I moved my old 500 GB HARD drive to the location of the optical Bay.  I am also under the latest version of El Capitan (10.11.6)
    Here are my system specs:

    Presentation of the material:

    Model name: MacBook Pro

    Model identifier: MacBookPro6, 2

    Processor name: Intel Core i7

    Processor speed: 2.8 GHz

    Number of processors: 1

    Total number of cores: 2

(By heart) L2 Cache: 256 KB

    L3 Cache: 4 MB

    Memory: 8 GB

Processor speed of interconnection: 4.8 GT/s

    Boot ROM version: MBP61.0057.B11

Version of the SCM (System): 1.58f17

What I tried (from what I remember):

I tried to change the Bootcamp info.plist file for my version of the macbook pro to use a USB stick for the installer.  It seems to have installed correctly but once I partition the disk and restart the computer, it gets stuck on a white screen with the Apple logo and I am forced to make a hard stop and then hold down option to boot into OS X, recovery, or the EFI Boot.

If I go through the windows installation to start the EFI system, I get an error of:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk.  The selected disk is a MBR partition table.  On EFI systems, Windows cannot be installed on GPT disks. »

I also tried to create a partition by using disk utility, and that too made me an error in the installation of windows.

So far, the only way that I'm away from windows to run at all has been using the free trial of VMware Fusion 8... but I intend to use windows for more intensive tasks like audio pro, and merger simply does not offer the performance necessary to run these programs.  I'm hoping to install windows 8.1 on my internal SSD or HARD drive, regardless of the work - as long as OS X and files associated with it are left alone.

If someone could help me please understand this point, I would really appreciate it!

    Thank you

If your computer has an optical drive, you must use the optical drive to install Windows using Boot Camp Assistant.

  • How can I update my processing power/RAM on my MacBook Pro 2013?

Let me preface this by saying I know almost nothing about computers so please excuse my terminology.

I have a screen Retina 13 '' MacBook Pro that I bought in 2014 (I think it was the 2013 model). At the time, I didn't need a lot of storage so I bought the less option (8 GB perhaps?). Recently, I changed into a main associated design and have been downloading a lot of different programs. With full download Adobe Creative Suite I have been using SketchUp, Rhino and AutoCAD to name a few.

My projects often require me to work in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Rhino at the same time but when I do so my computer is extremely slow and sometimes one or more programs unexpectedly closes.

Given all this information, what are my options to improve the speed and reliability of my MacBook?

Your options are limited. You cannot upgrade RAM or CPU. Theoretically, you could install more storage, but I don't think that's worth it. Given the software that depend on you, I sell the MBP and buy something bigger and faster (not necessarily a Mac).

  • MacBook Pro 15 '' mouse freeze on start

I have a 2015 mid Macbook Pro 15 "retina with OSX El Capitan 10.11.5. These days the cursor has been slow to come back to life after coming out of sleep mode. It has now begun to gel. The keyboard still works and if a file is put highlight the trackpad accepts a click, but the cursor stays frozen. After a difficult start the slider runs for about 30 seconds, but then crashes again. I don't have Fusion or any other AV software

Is there any solution for this? I'm a basic user and don't know my way around the error of research methods. Looking forward to some help... Thank you.

    Uninstall the following programs worthless;

    Avira

    CleanMyMac3

    Intego

After removing these programs using the procedures to uninstall for them and do not do just a drag & drop them into the trash. All programs of the pieces themselves everywhere in the OS on your Mac and the only way to get rid of all the crud is to use the uninstall procedure.

Once you do this, please run another report from EtreCheck and post it here. So that we can be sure that it is not something that we've missed.

  • What is the largest size SSHD I can put in my Macbook Pro 2015?

I have a model early 2015 MacBook Pro 13 w/retina with 8 GB of RAM with a 128 SSHD.  I want to upgrade the SSHD and I have a few questions:

    1. What is the largest size that I can install it?

    2. how to re-install the operating system?

Thanks in advance for your help...   I apologize if this question has already been asked, but I couldn't find the answers.

Technically, SSHD refers to a drive of Fusion purchased in-store, with a rotating part (the hard drive) and a Solid State Drive, all in one package.

I think you meant to ask about Solid State Drive or SSD. That's all that will fit in the MacBook pro 13 - in 2015.

Line of OWC/Macsales Aura of "stick" form factor drives go up to about 1 TB at a price:
