Automatic defragmentation on Powerdown?

Is it possible to defragment a virtual machine when this machine powered down or on some kind of Scheduler?  Contrary to my expectations, VMware defragmentation is higher than 3 third-party solutions that can be scheduled.

Thanks in advance

k

Hello.

You can schedule the command:

VMware - vdiskmanager.exe - d myDisk.vmdk

Good luck!

  • Why automatic defragmentation schedule say NEVER when I put a time?

Vista Home Premium 32 bit IE8

I posted it all first to find answers

This is the answer that was published in 2009. I got it broke out and changed their lines in italic , with my comments below

    Try the following steps:
Click Start-> in the start search field type: Task Scheduler, press ENTER.

When I click on SEARCH I have 3 options:

For files and folders I clicked on this first & typed in the Task Scheduler... .. .see below

using quick search tool I clicked it later... see below

    For people

    • I clicked on this first & typed in Task Scheduler

A dialog box comes first telling me that something I started this procedure, click to continue

    I clicked it

In the left pane, expand Task Scheduler Library list-> expand Windows-> select Defrag.

I have 2 lines - one for the tools system and one for administration tools

When I click on one of them I get task schedular library.

    I expanded the window

(I guess that means using the arrows on either side of the center of the screen)

All the data at once seems to be the same, even if it is not in the same format

I even clicked on all tabs it

    NO mention of DEFRAG anywhere

    There is only one pane

    Cannot do the rest

In the top center pane of the page, right click on ScheduledDefrag, click Activate.

    There is no central component
    Task Scheduler to exit.

    • using the search tool quick I clicked on this next

A screen will appear with look in: System 32

    I typed in Defrag

When the file is right, I clicked open. The screen blinked and disappeared. Nothing seemed anywhere

Then I went back and instead of typing Defrag, I scrolled through probably 100 or more files til I found Defrag

I double clicked it and it's the same as before.

    HELP HELP HELP

I took the option via Control Panel, followed all the instructions. Did not work. I have NEVER in my schedule and my computer was NOT awake at 0600 to defragment. I think I'll go with the answer above. THANKS for your comments.

  • Hybrid disk defragmentation

    Hello

I recently installed a Seagate hybrid SSHD drive on my IdeaPad Z570 and has learned that it is not good to defragment, usually as you lose SS cache and it causes wear. However, I also read that it is correct to do so if you turn off your NV Cache. But my computer had no function of gpedit, so I found a download which allow me to access it and went to the system and models of administration, but found no disk NV Cache and Smart Defrag analysis tells me that my drive is defragmented 4.4%, I wish I could defragment it.

Does anyone have experience or knowledge on that to help advise, as I am just a user of basic computer just learn by internet trawling.

    Thank you.

    LenBlazer thanks for the reply.

I understood now using Smart Defrag which, under my program from Iobit ASC, does not hide if accumulate on the part of the SSD drive that recently, I gritted my teeth and tried when I analyzed the disc and it is more than 6% defragemented. As long as I choose only Smart Defrag and optimizes not and do not use disk CSA optimize or automatic defragmentation, it's which were dismantled the storage of the cache. So if someone has the same quandry with a hybrid drive of my experience do not use disable Windows Defrag and use Smart Defrag but do not use anything that optimizes the drive because that's what the cache SSD and you lose the cache and a bit of time so he can build up again.

  • Image of corrupted task of disk defragmentation

When I try to defragment my hard drive a popup appears saying: "the task Image is corrupt or has been tampered with.  User_Feed_Synchronization-{93869917-6BA9-4AC4-AfOA-1FOB2672 A8FA}. "I went into the Task Scheduler Library to try to change the settings and the same popup upeared.  So I deleted the defragmentation task and put in a new defragmentation task account new parameters and the following window will appear: "an error has occurred for task defragment the hard drive."  Error message: user account restriction error.  Possible reasons are that blank passwords not allowed, or as a political restrictions has been applied. »

I can't adjust the defragmentation to run if the user is logged in or not.  It keeps the setting because only when someone logs on and only at 01:24:12.  I can't change the time of execution.  Whenever I put new triggers for the task the first popup appears and everything remains the same.  The last execution in Scheduler bed '' never. ''

I have run full scans computer virus/malware with Microsoft and Charter Security Suite, and they came up empty for the problems.

I'm not very computer savy and don't know what I can do.  My best guess is that someone put a virus in my hard disk to mess with the defragmentation task, but nothing in the scans rises.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you, community.

It would be a good idea to run the System File Checker tool if you have corrupted files

"How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the files on system missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7"

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

If SFC detects serious flaws, you may need to perform a repair upgrade Installation or relocation complete if you don't have a Vista DVD from Microsoft.

If you can borrow a DVD of Vista from Microsoft you save doing a reinstall full:

  • Defragmentation stops when the display is off

I recently used the Disk Defragmenter to defragment my hard drive.  After reviewing the forums I discovered that it does not work when the computer goes to sleep so I took care of the mode "Eve".  However, my computer is always programmed to turn off the display after 10 minutes.  As the defragmentation. can take several hours, I didn't leave the screen while he was doing his job.  However, when I returned to the computer during the process and reactive the display, he did not know if the defragmentation. given market or extended.  I would not have thought that the display off should interrupt the defragmentation. but I would appreciate clarification on this point.

  • How to say progress during defragmentation

I can never tell how much progress made by the Defragmenter using this program.  The only indication I get is the rotation of wheel bit but it seems never to perform the defragmentation.  On my old Windows program, there is an option to view the defrag process if you at least knew that it worked.  This wheel turns only and never stops... I even let run all night and we never finished the process.  Is there a way to see/check what happens when to defragment program is on?  Any help will be appreciated.  The program has been running for more than 4 hours tonight and still has not stopped.

  • Vista Defrag does not work continues by saying defragmentation will improve performance after hours of defragmentation

I ran Defrag Vista several times (each for hours) and always says that "defragment your drive hard drive will improve the performance.

    Hello

How do you know that never, it ends when there is no GUI on Vista for Defrag?

in vista, the defragmentation process works silently in the background

Unfortunately in vista it does not provide a GUI to show progress as it did in xp

to do this, you'll need 3rd party defrag programs

read the comments on these FREE below defragmentation programs and choose the one that you prefer to use

  • Defragmentation of hard disks

What the heck is wrong with you people? Why do you make unnecessary changes only complicate what should be a very simple procedure.

I click on a disk, I want to defragment.

I recently removed a large amount of files and I want to defragment THIS drive.

If I still had XP that wouldn't be a problem. I could just do it.

But Vista is moving forward and analysis all my disks even if I don't want to do that. We are thus wasting valuable time.

I want my defragmentation with one click (no analysis of ANY player unless I choose) back.

And it would be nice to have this cool graphic back defrag too.
