  I'm not very familiar with MacOS, unfortunately.

  Instead of using Yahoo for your bookmarks, if you can get the toolbar works on any browser, you can copy your Favorites from Yahoo to store bookmarks of your browser. On the plus side, no need for the Yahoo toolbar. On the other hand, your bookmarks are not synchronized at Yahoo to make them usable in different browsers.

  It don't work for me either when I tested it on a Windows machine. But I don't have a yahoo account, are you connected when the menu does nothing?

  You should also contact the developer of yahoo for the toolbar since it is obviously a reproducible bug.

  The bookmarks toolbar has nothing to do with the Bookmarks Sidebar (on the left side of the browser window). {Ctrl + B} open/close the bookmarks bar. If you close Firefox with the open bookmarks bar, it should be open when you launch Firefox, next time. If it does not work like that in your profile file localstore.rdf file is probably damaged.

  I don't know if it will help, but you can disable modules update to the toolbar on the page. Either:

  • CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: command + shift + a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

  In the left column, click Extensions. Find the Yahoo toolbar on the right side and click the small link under the title, on this page, locate the line for automatic updates and set it to Off.

  If you find that you who have ALSO another extension of Yahoo, you may need to turn off to avoid a conflict.

  Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

  (If you use it, switch to the default theme).
