  My problem is that automatic update does not work anymore and when I try to next turn to the I get some really long file name is missing. I can not down load and reinstall Security Center because it will not only because it is included in Vista. I can't load it updates as the software that is designed to do this does not work.   You must set your BIOS to start on the DVD from the beginning to the top.

  You have a good DVD of Vista (OEM/upgrade or full version) and NOT only a recovery disk provided by the manufacturer of the PC (or you burn you).

  For a DVD upgrade, follow the method here and make sure you format your HARD drive thanks to the tools of "advanced install" on the DVD.

Apparently the installer does not see when I turn on my printer. The problem would be that it is plugged into the port of USB1 and if so what do about it?

  Sorry must have misread your first message.  Before trying to reinstall the software, make sure that the printer and the old software is uninstalled.  The installer can be easily confused by older facilities, in order to ensure that those who are cleaned before installing the latest orders.  Hope that helps.
