Automatic update fails to update

Automatic update is normally on. But nothing has come - for weeks! It is used to display a shield in the taskbar when it worked. But haven't seen it for weeks!

Visited the website update - to check my status update, but said:

"Review your update history. You have not yet installed updates of this Web site or by activating the auto update on your computer. To select and install the updates now, go to our home page. »

.. and when I got to the automatic update page and select either 'custom' or 'express' update it comes constantly shows a green sweeping progress bar that comes is sitting there constantly without download traffic.

I tried microsoftfixit - nothing works.

It seems that the computer is totally locked not receive any updates or notifications of it.

Hello

I suggest you to follow these steps and check if that helps:

Method 1:
If you have installed a security software on the computer, then I suggest you try to disable temporary and check to see if the same problem happens. Make sure that you enable security software back once the diagnosis is made to prevent the computer from virus attacks.

Method 2:
Try to perform the clean boot and check if it helps:

NOTE: When you are finished troubleshooting, make sure that you reset the computer in start mode normal such as suggested in step 7 of the above article.

It will be useful.

Any Advisor. Should I upgrade to XP?

    Hello

Make sure that you do not install hardware 3rd party via windows update drivers

they are normally not up to date and can cause computer problems

change the way you receive updates and check what you install ad if you don't not right-clicking on UAC prompt you to hide it:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial140.html

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

and if you're still stuck in a loop non-Boot read these methods on how to try to fix it:

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

  • If an update failed, automatic updates/verification of updates will check for it later?

I just noticed that a few updates since several months ago failed. It seems that similar, as a result of updates have been installed successfully (even update names but different codes in parentheses). Automatic updates are turned on and manually check updates said none have been found. Should I be concerned about the updates failed? If you do a check of updates and nothing comes back, are you up-to-date?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Roane,

Yes, your computer is up-to-date. If there is no update available and that you have installed all the updates your computer is updated with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes updates failed will be replaced by subsequent updates.

If you are still having a problem with the Windows updates, see the link.

    Hi Maxczarr,

Welcome to the Windows Vista answers Forum!

In addition to what you tried you can also try the Startup Repair. That might solve your problem.

Follow the below given steps to perform a Startup Repair:

    1. Insert the installation disc.

    2. restart your computer.

Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the lock button, and then click restart.

    3. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

    Note

If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings.

    4. choose your language settings, and then click Next.

    5. click on repair your computer.

    6. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

    7. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair can invite you to make choices as it tries to solve the problem, and if necessary, it may restart your computer, because it makes the repairs.

For more information, please visit the below given link:
