Automatically update a field "updated by" when changes are made to a database record.

Basically, I am building a database using mySQL and PHP application. I come from a design background, rather than parts of a techie, so I'm much more comfortable using the DW and phpMyAdmin, but even less with any code.

We want to have a field ' last updated by "which is automatically filled in with the one who created or last edited record.

What is the best way to achieve this?

I watched some mySQL stuff, but all looks a bit over my head to be honest. Have a users table in phpMyAdmin - not a single one in the database, but under privileges - so where is 'root', more another couple, I added.

In the web directory, I have just a connection file standard that looks like:

<? PHP
# FileName = "Connection_php_mysql.htm"
# Type = 'MYSQL '.
# HTTP = 'true '.
$hostname_connDevelopments = "localhost";
$database_connDevelopments = 'evolution '.
$username_connDevelopments = 'root ';
$password_connDevelopments = "password";
$connDevelopments = mysql_pconnect ($hostname_connDevelopments, $username_connDevelopments, $password_connDevelopments) or trigger_error (mysql_error (), E_USER_ERROR);
? >

But how to get people to connect to the database?

If not, can I just use DW journal (that is to say, connect you to specific pages?, rather than users to connect to the database using database privileges)

And there is a hidden field in my insert and update pages set to the current user, and this value can be inserted into the table?

Any help or pointers thereby greatly appreciated.

See you soon.

Oh.

Had paused, looked at her again and of course the hidden field should have been:

  • Would PREVENT you automatic updates and other changes

    JO 8600 Pro.  Configuration of the wireless network.

    I want to prevent the automatic updates.

    There must be a way to stop the automatic firmware / software updates.  I have not found.

    "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" particularly printers.

    People update the firmware / software (not only HP) & some things suddenly do not work.

    I don't update * nothing * until I know what it is.

    I just installed some new cartridges, not HP.  All of a sudden the printer is accessing internet & "Download".  She flashed quickly on the screen of the printer & I couldn't read what it says.

    At the same time, he said something like '... then web printing will be also activated. "

    I disabled specifically that, in the SAP when I 1st installation program for the printer.  Won't print web, it is useless.

    Now, because I have replace a few carts, it's going to turn it back on for me?  Talk about balls of brass.

    I canceled that download / stop the printer.  But of course, he had changed my settings & reactivated web printing.  (I disabled it again).

    The next power on, printer took some download.  He did not said worth what - has just shown, "Downloaded X of Y" & showed progress.  I immediately cancelled again.

    If there are no parameters to prevent no matter what auto FW / software updates, or if she simply ignores them, I'll have to bury the printer under the firewall.

    Thank you.

    Thanks RnR.

    Here is a method to use a router to block devices to access the internet, which should work for many users.

    I decided to use my router to block internet access to the printer.  This can quickly and easily be reversed or modified.  It has 2 basic steps:

    1 assign the printer a static IP address.

    2. use the settings on the router to deny access to the internet to the static address.

    I have a Cisco / Linksys router, but many brands & models have these basic features, which are accessed from EWS from the router (built-in web server), via a web browser.

    HP support has the allocation of static IP address for printer more detailed instructions.

    Here is the HP document a coating for my OJ Pro 8600 & some other models: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03781399/

    It may be easier for most users to assign an HP printer a static address, using EWS of the printer rather than the screen of the printer.

    Note: as a general rule, when you use a router to assign a static API for devices that the router would otherwise be assigned automatically (via 'DHCP'), the selected static address is outside the current range of addresses, the router can be used to assign addresses to devices on.  Many routers, that the current range of addresses, it can choose to assign DHCP addresses is visible in certain section / tab of the EWS router.

    In my Cisco the current DHCP range appears under installation - basic setup - DHCP section:

    "IP range: 192.168.2.60 to 192.168.2.109.

    So I chose an address static printer off this (192.168.2.XXX).

    You should write down & save the selected API, in the case where there is no problem getting later printer (shouldn't be, but...).

    Assign the printer a static API did not affect access to its built-in Web server (for me).

    Once the static method API is assigned & recognized (by the router), use the settings of the router to block this address from internet access.  In my Cisco, it's under "Access Restrictions."  (You may need to turn the printer on / off; possibly reboot some computers, for the new static to be recognized address.)  Here's how I did in the Cisco:

    Log on to the router EWS (login by default & password is admin/admin.  You must always change router PASSWORD values by default, for security reasons - then your neighbor or your child can't hack your router remotely).

    Go to the tab "Access Restrictions" or similar.
    Click on "Edit PC" and put in the "MAC address" of the printer. (found in the network printer config / settings).

    Save the MAC address settings.

    Back on the homepage Internet access router, give this internet access policy (rule) a name.

    Then click on "Access."
    Check "Everyday" and "24 hours" for time, to block the IPa at all times.
    Save the settings.

    Now, the router will not allow this address to access the internet - for the specified hours, but the device (printer) can continue to communicate on the local network - all the time.

    The same can be done for specific computers.  You want to block computers in kids' internet access on certain days / hours.

  • Windows makes the automatic update and my settings are only for download.

    Windows 7 - I've always had my updates the setting that allows them to download, but I chose to install them.  These past few weeks I've noticed that if I refuse and install these updates that they automatically install themselves.  I like to choose how to upgrade usually one at a time, so if there is a problem I know what update caused it.  But in recent weeks a notice that he has downloaded the updates look bad.  So when a few days where I don't bother updating automatically they settle.  I checked my setting of many times, and my settings are correct.  So why are my rules being ignored?

    Once the updates are downloaded, all that is left restarts to install updates

    Some updates that don't require not a reboot will probably install

    Hardly a way to install an update at the same time as you want too.

    I suggest you these parameters personally if install one at a time is your preference

    These settings will be updated also exclude recommended to be mixed in the important section, recommended updates cause most of the problems.

    Hello Bill,

    Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

    As I understood it, you experience the problem, you cannot change the automatic updates even if you are logged on as an administrator user account. The option is grayed out on the system.

    Certainly, I understand your concern.

    I would suggest trying the following steps and check if that helps.

    1. Open the editor of the register of the command RUN by typing "regedit" and click OK.
    2. In the tree on the left, open following files-online HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate.
    3. Remove the automatic "Update" folder This will remove all previous settings for automatic update.
    4. Open the automatic update of the control panel and option as usual.
    5. If automatic update is always gray, type the command "gpupdate/force" RUN and click OK or restart the operating system.

    Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • TableView problem of automatic update in points 2.1 and 2.2

    Hi, guys!

    Initial situation: I have a TableView with some elements inside. I update an element (a user object), I remove it from the table and then I put it again to the same index.

    The labour code in 2.0.2:
    // Gets selected item
    User selectedUser = (User) table.getSelectionModel().getSelectedItem();

    // Updates the User object to show the new data in the table
    selectedUser.setFirstName(fNameTF.getText());
    selectedUser.setLastName(lNameTF.getText());
    selectedUser.setRank((String) (rankCB.getSelectionModel().getSelectedItem()));
    selectedUser.setPassword(passTF.getText());

    // Updates table data.
    // First gets the user Object index in the items list,
    // then removes the user object from the table list,
    // then adds the updated user object at the same index it was before.
    int userObjectIndexInItemsList = table.getItems().indexOf(selectedUser);
    table.getItems().remove(table.getItems().indexOf(selectedUser));
    table.getItems().add(userObjectIndexInItemsList, selectedUser);
    Here's my problem: in the version 2.1 and 2.2 (b06) this no longer works. The table does not display the changed data. I also tried getTableItems tableData (new FXCollections.observableArrayList ()), then table.setItems (null), then table.setItems (tableData), but it did not work.
    So, the problem is that the FXCollections.observableArrayList () (which has been used to fill the table in the beginning) don't relate more to the table when a change is made.

    Possible, but not desired collaborative:
    1. total re-creation of the table.
    2. total recreation of the tableItems (create a new observable by new objects).

    Any suggestions?
    I don't want to recreate the table data whenever a change is made, in particular because it is based on a database.

    JavaFX has a fundamentally different way of handling these types of updates, which can make it difficult to implement this in your current system.

    In short, how updates work in JavaFX of the ListView, TreeView, and TableView is the following:

    Each view type is made of cells. The number of cells is usually pretty close to the amount of visible lines and each cell could be considered to represent a line.

    Each cell is basically a small piece of the user interface that adapts to everything that should appear on the line given at that time there. The updateItem method is called on these cells to associate them with an underlying element of the ObservableList (the model).

    Let's say that your "Items" in the model are objects with a person's name. An implementation of the cell could make this as follows:

      private static final class PersonTableCell extends TableCell {

        @Override
        protected void updateItem(final Person person, boolean empty) {
          super.updateItem(mediaNode, empty);

          if(!empty) {
            setText(person.getTitle());
          }
        }
      }

    The example above will also have the same problem to update your code, otherwise, if you change the subject Person in your model of the cell will not reflect the name changed.

    In JavaFX to inform the cell of the modification, you must add a listener to the property 'text' of your person object. This assumes that a Person object properties are the properties of style of JavaFX. This is done like this (using a binding that uses an internal auditor):

      private static final class PersonTableCell extends TableCell {

        @Override
        protected void updateItem(final Person person, boolean empty) {
          super.updateItem(mediaNode, empty);

          textProperty().unbind();

          if(!empty) {
            textProperty().bind(person.titleProperty());
          }
        }
      }

    The foregoing will automatically updated correctly each change to the title property of the person.

    However, this means that you need to change your Person object to use the JavaFX style properties. You donot have always this luxury hotel. However, there are other options. You could for example only support a "changedProperty" in the Person class and have cells listening to it, something like this:

      private static final class PersonTableCell extends TableCell {
        private Person oldPerson;
        private InvalidationListener listener;

        @Override
        protected void updateItem(final Person person, boolean empty) {
          super.updateItem(mediaNode, empty);

          if(oldPerson != null) {
            oldPerson.removeListener(listener);
            oldPerson = null;
          }

          if(!empty) {
            listener = new InvalidatonListener() {
              public void invalidated(Observable o) {
                 setText(person.getTitle());
              }
            };
            person.addListener(listener);
            setText(person.getTitle());
          }
        }
      }

    Now whenever you want to trigger a "change", you call a method on the Person object that triggers a cancel event. All cells that are tuned to this person object will be notified and update.

    If you donot change the class of the person itself, you could also do this with a wrapper. You will have to experiment a little.
