AVI format not recognized by Windows Movie Maker and Windows Media Player

HI, I use the Camileo S10. Download AVI files to PC (Vista) and openness to all ArcSoftw goes well.
I want to edit the films widely and must use Movie Maker for that. This AVI format used by Toshiba is not recognized. I tried several Codecs but my last hope lies with Toshiba to supply a Codec compatible Vista that works.

Please provide a Codec for Movie Maker to AVI from Toshiba format...

Hello

Microsoft Movie Maker supports wmv format.
If you want to change other formats, then you must use the option: import video.
This will help import videos saved in another format.

Otherwise, you need to install a free tool to convert avi to mpg.
You can then use the Movie Maker for editing video.

  • Sansa e260 not recognized by Windows Media Player in MSC mode

    Hello

I have a problem. When I connect my Sansa e260 in my PC, Windows Media Player 12 will not recognize it. I can still see it in the computer, including the Micro SD card. When it's in MTP mode I can see it in WMP, but I don't see that micro SD. thing is I want to download some new songs on the Micro SD card that I can't see. I don't know if I can download songs on the player itself, because I don't have any space left there and I dare not remove anything where I won't be able to download stuff on him. I'm running on Windows 7. This problem occurred during the night. I change not all components, nor that I have installed all new programs. I also tried different USB ports, firmware reinstallation, trying even Rockbox.

That's about all. Any idea is appreciated.

    Thank you.

Set mode MSC, where the map stands as a separate disk. (MTP mode is for control via WMPlayer or Media Monkey).

  • SD not recognized by Windows Media Player, but there are songs there!

Hi there, this may be related to my previous post about the unknown artist (for which I didn't get any answer!) ).  Anyway, there is a new bug now.  I reconnected it to WMP, and it reads that I have an external SD (which I do), but says that he has no songs on it (which exists).  Earlier, in WMP, it registered the songs when I clicked on the SD card.  It the bed as having only 1 mb of space on the card, which would be fair.

I can play some songs on the device that are on the card external sd (but those entitled 'unknown').  I'm so confused and it's quite frustrating and counterintuitive.  I'm going on a long trip in 2 days (of course!), and this is my first product Sansa.  I have NO IDEA what to do.  Help, please

WMP is a curse! I find his oprtions synch counterintuitive and downright dangerous for the contents of your library or on the drive.

That says Windows Explorer is located on the map? You can use it to drag & drop of the stuff to/from the player - for me, it works better than WMP for content management.

Depending on whether your rocket is set to MTP or MSC in settings-> system-> USB Mode settings, the map will be either see the place as a directory under \My Computer\Sansa Fuze xGB or as a removable drive in its own right with its own drive letter.

Note also that the files that put you on the memory internal rocket in MTP mode are not visible to the computer when it is connected in MSC mode & vice versa. You can see things on the card or mode, but the directory structure is slightly different in MTP mode.

Do not use WAV format - there are problems with the "rocket" understand them. MP3 works fine & uses less space. If you want really audio not compressed, use FLAC.

My mobile device (Pharos Traveler 137) running windows media 10 mobile player is not detected by Windows Media Player 11 running in Vista.  Connected and synchronized correctly for months, it is not so now, even if the mobile device is detected by the computer and synchronizes correctly for other purposes such as outlook, files, etc..   How to get Windows Media Player to detect once more unit (specifically the card 8 GB storage) in the window of synchronization?

    1 open Windows Media Player.
    2. click on the arrow below the Sync tab, point to the device, and then click Advanced Options.
    3. the Properties dialog box for your device is displayed. Tab sync, box start sync when device connects checkbox.

    1. start Windows Media Player and connect your portable device into a USB port on your computer. A box of "Windows Media Player ‑‑ Device Setup" appears, showing that he recognized the device and provides an opportunity for you to name your device.
    2. read how the player will sync your device, which is directly under where you type the name of the device. If storage of the device is more than 4 gigabytes, for example, and your library on Windows Media Player fits on this device, the player chooses automatic.
    3. selection of automatic synchronization means that your device will reflect all your Windows Media Player library and it will do so that whenever it is connected. Click on "Finish".
    4. to synchronize only some of your library when the player chose automatic, you can choose what will sync when you open Windows Media Player. Click on the portable device in the right pane and drag the items you want to synchronize with this device.
    5. selection of a manual synchronization indicates that the player has detected that the portable device has no place for your entire library. Click on "Finish". Open Windows Media Player, select the portable device in the right pane and drag the items you want to synchronize with this device.

Yes, rename the files MOD xxx.mpg worth trying...

If this does not work... you need to convert a compatible

  • Coventing VOB to avi not playable on windows media player

I have a HOME VIDEO (i.e. There is no license no questions here) I have a program that allows to convert VOB files to avi so that I can store the video on my computer, and then play using windows media player, etc...

However, I can't get windows media player to read the file if I convert VOB to AVI using mpeg2.  This isn't a good option, but it works.   Other options for the avi settings include:
    INTEL IYUV codec
    Microsoft Video Codec I
    XviD codec MPEG-4

With all this, when I try to run windows media player avi files which result gives me the following error:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file.

How can I get a high quality VOB to AVI conversion that will play in windows media player?  I need to find somewhere new codec?  If yes where?

    Brian Smith

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers forum.

Windows Media Player and. Read VOB

Windows Media Player (and) Windows Media Center should be able to natively playback unencrypted. VOB files. As long as the whole structure is there you can point Windows Media Center in the folder root containing records audio and video TS. To display a local copy of your movie in Windows Media Center everything you need to do is Add the folder to the watch list. You can select and then ideally in your library or you can do the following to access the files using Windows Media Player.

Opening. VOB in Windows Media Player:

1 or you can right click the upper Video_TS. VOB and select Open.

    2. click Select a program from a list of installed programs, and then tap OK.

3 uncheck always use the program selected for this file type.

    4. click on Windows Media Player, and the family film should start playing.

If you still prefer to compress the files rather than using Windows Media Player or Media Center, you can see this technical document. This document describes the types of files supported in Windows Media Player.
