    Guess what buddy.
    Forget the CPU upgrade!

It is a very old notebook support old chipset.
I'm quite sure that the chipset would not support Intel Core CPU m.

In addition, the memory can be improved up to 1 GB of RAM (2 x 512 MB)
    More is not possible.

In my opinion, if you need more performance, buy a laptop (maybe good work 2nd unit) supporting the newer parts.

  • Dark satellite A20 - retro-lighting on display

    Hi all

on my Satellite A20, I've got a backlight is dark. A new inverter did not work.

So I wanted to check the lid switch. But it seems that this laptop is not a conventional switch? Can someone tell me how the "open cover" function is performed on this system?

Second part is that I wanted to check if the inverter on the GET proper nutrition. Does anyone have a pinout of the inverter? (It's a TAMURA HBL-0291)

    Thank you!

    Peter

    Hello

I think that no one here can meet these technical issues such as the pinout of the inverter. In your case I would contact a technician for laptop in your country. Normally what you mean is described in the technical manual, but this is only available for ASP s, so a portable computer technician can give you more information.

Alternative make sure that your BIOS version is up-to-date. You can download it on the Toshiba site.

In addition you can also find a list of s SPAS where you can get professional help.

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite A20-S103: LAN cable disconnected

    Hello

I can not access my LAN or internet.
    I use a Satellite A20-S103 with a Realtek RTL8139/810 x Family Fast Ethernet NIC

When I connect the Lan cable to the LAN port, the message "LAN Cable" disconnected.
The same message is displayed using connectivity doctor ConfigFree.

I have changed several cables, used cables that worked on other computers and the message still there and no access to the router/modem.

Near the LAN port LEDs are not lightning (or orange or green, no)

I already read messages here in the forum (and other forums) and I can't get the ethernet card works.

Do you think the problem is with the card or the operating system.

    Can you help me?
    Sorry for my English

First, check to see if the network card has been recognized in the Device Manager.
Under network adapters, you should see the LAN card.

If there is a yellow exclamation point near network card then the driver has not been installed correctly or there is another serious error.

In the first case I recommend the withdrawal of the LAN card from the Device Manager and after new reboot, you should try to reinstall the driver downloaded from the Toshiba page!

In addition, you must set TCP/IP parameters automatically because the router assigns the IP address automatically.

Please check and report the results

    Good luck

  • Presario CQ62 - a20ED Wireless drivers

    Hi all

    I just reinstalled windows 7 Prof 64 X on my Presario CQ62-a20ED.

Download and install the drivers worked perfectly except for the wireless drivers. (URL http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063 & lc = on & cc = us & dlc = in & sw_lang = & product = 4314...)

After the above link, I found 3 different drivers and I had no idea that one to use. Atheros, Ralink and Realtek so I downloaded all 3 of them and tried them all. Install, reboot, test, no dice, uninstall, reboot, install B, etc.

All 3 of them gave me the error "this program has not been installed correctly, you want to reinstall with the recommended settings?

Network Center shows me no wireless adapters, but Device Manager shows that a network adapter is missing the proper drivers (yellow questionmark).

LAN works but I don't have a cable at the moment so I can't connect to the internet in anyway (otherwise I might even leave the compaq/HP website scan my drivers)

So, I'm fresh out of the idea.

    Thank you very much

    Jean

    > I need a flash BIOS for laptop Toshiba Satellite A20-S103. I have already downloaded on the download site. But this one I can't use because I need windows must be installed.

You will get no other update BIOS (traditional BIOS). Only the victory of BIOS-based are available on the Toshiba page!

In addition, you should be able to install windows even the BIOS is not fully ACPI-compatible.

What Windows you are trying to install?

  • Satellite A20 - S103 SD card reader

I searched with google and browsed the site but could not find the answer to my question. I have a 512 MB Apacer MMC card for my Nokia N-Gage QD. I wanted to use the SD card reader in my A20-S103 to put stuff on the MMC card. And since they are supposed to be compatible, I figure it should work. Needless to say, this isn't: Pei

SD controller driver is installed correctly, but I can't install the driver for the card. Then I get an error "tdevcon failed" and the pilot won't settle.

The drive is even compatible with the MMC in my A20?

    Thnx in advance :)

    Hello

AFAIK MMC card can not be used with your device. You simply insert the SD cards. In my opinion, the only possibility is to buy a small external USB drive.

    Good bye

    Hi Ercansia,

As rightly says Miro, you should check your BIOS boot order to make sure that you dΘmarrez from the HARD drive, although it is not too much difference if you have your optical drive specified first.

Alternatively, you can consider the following:--

    1. If you have mapped network drives your system will wait for a timeout on them before continuing the boot process, unless your network connection is available. This will also be the case if your all shared devices.

    2. your Prefetch folder can be too full. This will be the case if you use lots of different programs. You must delete the contents of the Prefetch folder (this will be in your Windows folder). XP will rebuild the basewd content on your registry settings.

  • Lost my recovery of my Satellite A20-S103 disk

Hi all! I lost my recovery of my Satellite A20-S103 disk. Anyone could copy it for me? Or, there is somewhere I can get it? Thank you! Be well!

    > Could someone copy it for me?

Toshiba Forum is not an emporium of recovery disks!
I guess that a recovery could be ordered from the ASP.

If this laptop is too old then it will not be possible to get the collection of the ASP.
In this case, you need to install the XP from your own disc, and then the pilots could be downloaded from the Toshiba page.

Each thread reagarding this question says:
You can order the recovery of the AEP CD in your country.

This is why I would recommend contacting the local ASP (authorized service provider) too and need to order CD.

Hi, I was using my satellite A20 long (4 years). Never had any problems. Recently he fell and the screen turns off always.

I can see the toshiba logo and the windows logo also when starting, and even I can enter the BIOS and change the boot order too... but as soon as windows load screen is black. I don't understand

    Anyone with the solution?

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello

    > but as soon as windows load screen is black. I can t understand
This means that the display output has accidentally changed to an external.

Have you checked if something would be visible on the second external monitor?
    Select this check box.

In addition I advise to use the FN + F5 keys to check if you can switch the output back to the internal display.

  • Satellite A20-S103 WiFi mini PCI card need help

    Hello

I own a Toshiba A20-S103. When I bought the camera there not of wireless. I have the switch but wireless. I would like to install it but I don't like solutions card mainly because of the portruding antennas and special care, I imagine that you must have for such a solution (do not break the card because of the carelesness). Now, I opened my laptop and I have the empty mini PCI slot and the antenna cables. I found several mini PCI card on the Toshiba site in the communication options and accessories section. The problem I have now is that although I found two mini PCI card 802.11a/b/g, which seems to be compatible with my model, I can't decide which is the best because the information provided for each of them are the same. The only thing that seems to be different is the reference number (PA3318U-2MPC and PA3298U-1MPC). Also, there is a two 802. 11 b / g cards compatible with my model but even once, I can't make my decision due to the fact that the information provided for these cards is not helping to distinguish between them. Looking in the manual, I found that my model suports only 802. 11a / b (or at least what they say). And there's a mini PCI 802.11 g on the Toshiba site which is not compatible with my model. If it makes me wonder if I can get a card 802.11 g. I would really like it for the higher speeds that it will support. I don't want to pay more money to use a PCI 802.11a/b/g only to discover that I can just conect to 11 Mbps and not 54 or so... Also, I found on the internet of the 802.11 cards g that promise speeds greater than 54 Mbps. Toshiba provides such a solution? If not, are there maps 802.11 g third-party compatible with my model? I hope that there is someone out there who can help me sort this mess.

    Hi Stefan

It is not easy to give you a proper answer. In my opinion, it should work, but it is also important to install a suitable driver for the wireless card. I'm sure that it is possible to install the driver for another model mobile using the same wireless card. It will be perhaps better to contact the Service partner and ask them because they have such information and more experience with this sort of thing.
