I would like to return to Yosemite to El Capitan as my v5 Adobe Photoshop crashes constantly, as now seems to be unstable since upgrading to El Capitan.

Unfortunately I do not have a back up of my laptop on Time Machine (stupid, I know), so how can I do for the reversal, please?

Make a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different disks.

Go to the App Store purchases tab and download Yosemite. You will be probably get says can't you install it, but download it anyway. The program below to create a bootable USB key. Boot from the Flash drive, run the check/repair disk utility and repair permissions until you get no errors.  Reformat the hard disk using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS extended (journaled), then click on the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the operating system. Use the installation wizard to restore your Time Machine data.

Hello world.   My first question on a blog!  I upgraded to Yosemite and now can't use some older software to work, so not able to get the data.  Can someone me that it would be normal to return to snow leopard, get the data moved elsewhere, then reinstall the Yosemite?  I hope this makes sense.  There is a lot of data.  Thank you for all your comments!

Yes, if you have created a Snow Leopard time Machine, you can restore from this backup as shown below

  • Date will come back to 2013 after upgrade to 10.11.5

    Hello!
    I have a 3.1 MacPro 2 x 2, 8 GHz with 500 GB of SSD and 32 GB of ram and 3 x 1 TB HD.

I upgraded from Yosemite to El Capitan 10.11.5. I did a new install with a clone (using the CCC). No problem so far except the date that always goes back to December 5, 2013 (manual correction or auto sync on Apple Europe...), maybe 10 times a day. It's quite a mess with all applications using date!
I did a SCM and reset VRAM (after having disabled pad [disable sudo trimforce]), but I still have the problem.

I am now running El Capitan 10.11.6 but with the same bug.

Can someone help me? I don't know what to do and I don't want to go back to Yosemite. Thank you!

Check system preferences > Date & time.

  • 10.11 back to earlier versions

Problem with the compatibility of the OS X 10.11 with third party software.  Given that I've improved 10.7 can I come back to say 10.10?

You can only return to a previous OS if you meet one of two conditions:

    • you have a backup time machine when you run this OS
    • you previously downloaded this OS via the App Store, and yet it were listed in your shopping

If you don't meet people, you can't go back to Yosemite; It is no longer available for download on the App Store.  It would be much easier to simply uninstall the incompatible software and wait until updates for them are released later so you can reinstall them.

  • VMware Fusion 5 and Yosemite

    Hello

Does VMware Fusion 5 support Yosemite Mac OS X 10.10.4?

I just upgraded from Mountain Lion, but when I tried to run a virtual machine that was working on the Mountain Lion, I get "could not open/dev/vmmon: no such file or directory."

    Thank you.

    Hello Yu Chun-Pong,

The answer is 'No', and follows the answer a little longer...

I'm sorry to inform you that Fusion 5.x does not work under OS X Yosemite.

5.x end merger of general support was on 23/08/2014, before the release of Yosemite.

You can watch the Matrix of Life Cycle of the products for the exact dates.

It is highly unlikely that VMware publishes an update to a product that has been withdrawn.

You can roll back to Yosemite to the Mavericks if you wish to continue using the Fusion 5.x or upgrade to a newer version supported.

If you want to test the latest version to see if it is worth your expenses, you can install and run a fully functional version of 30 days before actually committing to spending anything.

After 30 days, you purchase a license to modify the merger installed in an unlimited version.

For the assessment of the merger's direct download link

In addition, you can also choose to run the Tech Preview, but don't realize that--although normally very stable – there is no guarantees with preview/test software.

  • Time Machine does not work after update of the Sierra

The time function machine my Mackbook Air 2011 stopped working... it has not been saved since update for Sierra, it only take screenshots every hour, it will perform a backup is no longer on my external HD as before.

There is no problem with the way it is implemented or the hard drive, it's me that my iMac is working perfectly since the update for Sierra and it's backup via the time machine on the same hard disk.

It is a hard drive and put in place I was in use for about 5 years with no problems.

Also since the update for Sierra I noticed that my MacBook Air gets hot and the fans go wild, although there was nothing or performance other than the system is auto.

I lost the use of my built in camera after the update to El Capitan, and now I've lost the use of time machine... I was wondering if I should go back to Yosemite that everything worked well then!... is this possible?

Thanks for any help with this!

Update:-just so you know, time machine is to find the back up ok drive (external hard drive), it then goes to "preparing backup" and that's all, he remains in this preparation save the scene for centuries, after a while it just stops and it is saved all... nothing!

Also noticed when I checked in Time Machine full backup I have before update for Sierra disappeared, he disappeared, been deleted... I don't know what is happening with it!

Overall since the update for Sierra my MacBook Air did not work properly, in addition to all that Safari does not load, just to get the wheel spinning, and now (with the demise of my old back ups) it seems I can't go back to a previous state.

My Mackbook Air took it!... the last update took the camera and really Sierra in... material not compatible with all new software, none of the new features work on my iMac or MacBook Air (only Siri), so a useless upgrade for me really, wish I didn't!

  • Card SD & USB issues after update of El Capitan

    Hi all!

Just updated to Yosemite's El Capitan.  Running iMac (21.5 inch late 2009) - to update of Yosemite point has been completely up to date as well as all software and drivers.  Now problems after the iMac to wake up in the morning with some of the built-in ports.

    1. SD card reader - have to restart so that this works, but only works for an hour or two, it is more readings.

2 ports USB - external HD holding that nothing else than music files must be disconnected and then reconnected to be recognized and to mount.  Anomaly is that Time Machine on back of the iMac USB continues to function properly and rises when waking from sleep in the morning.

3-4 ports USB hub plugged back has only 2 operational ports in the morning, must either be disconnected and then reconnected to have all four ports work.  It works sometimes for the rest of the day or only works for one hour UX as well.

4 keyboard (yes I prefer a cable on BT) takes a minute or two to be recognized after the awakening of fashion 'sleep' in the morning.

I tried to reboot my machine?  Yes, several times.

I tried to reset the SMC?  Yes, several times.

I tried to reset the NVRAM/PRAM memory?  Yes, several times.

Any suggestions on additional solutions without getting really heavy in the Terminal?  Not really keen to try some of the recommendations Terminal found here on communities, as I do not play with the programming of the OS.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the nine people who have seen this post.  Unfortunately no one answered, so I 'solved it' of it the only way I knew how.  Rolled back to Yosemite.  I hope that the new Sierra OS will be an improvement on El Capitan.

  • Helps the Possible Flash Player Solution

My system is a 21.5 ", end of 2012 with 3.1 GHz processor I-7 and 16 GB of memory, with El Capitan 10.11.6

I had a problem with the spinning wheel of death and the freezing system in Safari.  I followed him there down to Adobe Flash Player.  Whenever I would uninstall flash player (latest version) problems I had would leave.  This problem appeared to have started when I upgraded to El Capitan, but my memory on that is a little fuzzy... I'm not sure when the problem started.  I tried to live without flash player as well as hope either Adobe or Apple recognized the problem and provide a fix.  After several months hoping probably won't happen.

I watch MLBTV on my computer and it uses flash player to run.  I have Apple TV and I can always get the games, but it would be great if I could once more watch it on my computer.

I'm rather a computer neophyte when it comes to repairs, but I thought that maybe back to Yosemite as my operating system or perhaps using another browser (Chrome or Firefox) might alleviate the problems I am having with flash player.  Someone on this forum can help me to answer this question?  If so, I should of course advice on how to make one of the two solutions.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

I just had the bad idea to update to El captain. I used an app for my language, spell GREEK. The developers of this app are the official representatives of Apple in Greece and so far, their application for Greek worked fine. Now they have released the last update for Captain, I've updated to the latest version of this app (for Captain), but hellas! My my text writing software (NIsus), but the same mail, same Safari!, in Greek, stucks = I average the stucks, the color turns wheel cursor and turns, then all the letters I have clicked appear at once, then I click once and once again it stucks, ot (Nisus for example) application crashes... Mail is practically useless. If I turn off the application for Greek, all the software works very well (spelling in English books). But it's not no longer works in Greek... I CAN write in Greek perfectly when the app for s [ell verification is disabled but all freezes when I turn it on.] So I have to write long texts without checking my writing... Terible! ... • Wizard BootCamp 6.0.1 running on El Capitan 10.11.5 installs single partition BootCamp on the disc Fusion consisting of 128 SSD part G SSD and 3 TB of HARD drive on an iMac (retina 5K, 27 inches, end of 2014), but not the part of the HARD drive?

How is it assistant BootCamp 6.0.1 running on El Capitan 10.11.5 installs single partition BootCamp on the disc Fusion consisting of 128 SSD part G SSD and 3 TB of HARD drive on an iMac (retina 5K, 27 inches, end of 2014), but not the part of the HARD drive?

    This has two questions:

1 capacity of SSDS faster for Fusion drive has been reduced. Therefore less effective for the reader of the merger. For example if I need to create a partition of 80G for my windows bootcamp partition, only 48 G will be left in the drive of the merger.

    2. ability of the bootcamp windows partition becomes very limited, cannot be greater than 120 G.

    3. even when I try to fuse out of the drive of fusion in the 128 G SSD and 3 TB of HARD disk, and then run the BootCamp assistant to create the bootcamp partition start from scratch to reinstall El Capitan only on the HARD drive (without drive Fusion), it won't let me do anything, it just shows an error that says something like "a person has created additional partitions on this drive please select. another disc. But there is nothing else to choose.

Before my (5 K, 27 inches, end of 2014 retina) to El Capitan Yosemite, I was able to use the previous version of the wizard BootCamp 5.x to create the partition, bootcamp on the drive of the merger. And it will be divided in the fuser unit in two and insert the Bootcamp partition (with the size I chose, which can go up to 1 TB) between two partitions of MAC OSX.

The disk partitions resulting from it, will be the partition MAC OS x on the SSD, the partition MAC OS x on the HARD drive partition #1, partition MAC OS x on the HARD drive partition #3.

Then there is the BootCamp partition on the HARD drive partition #2.

Is there a way to get what I need?

That is what has been described in this notice of two canoes?

Installation of Windows on a Boot Camp partition on a drive of TB Fusion 3

    n-on-a-3-TB-fusion-drive http://twocanoes.com/Winclone/support/installing-Windows-on-a-Boot-Camp-partitio

    Thank you.

After having worked on those weeks, I realized that I need very painfully (by first going back to Yosemite and bootcamp 5 to escape all the limitations of El Capitan and BootCamp 6) I want to share here. Someone at - it other smarter solutions welcome.

Note these steps and mentioned drivers only work for my version of iMAC, retina 5K late 2014. If you have other material, please search on the web to see which driver will work first. And all of these steps are destructive and assumed that you first take backup. It is only shared for interest only. Readers will have to bear your own risk.

    A. take backup

    1. take a backup completes my iMac Fusion Drive using Time Machine. Then restart with a Yosemite USB installation and select Terminal from the menu on the top bar.

    B. fuse out of the merger in two physical disks drive: SSD + HDD

    1. in the terminal, type the commands in show what the logical volume group ID and the ID of the logical Volume of the disc fusion)

    Cs diskutil list

    2. in the terminal, type commands for the fuse of the fuser unit and separate them to an SSD and a HARD drive.  Note: All data will be destroyed in the drive of the merger. There are many articles in this community on how this could be done,

diskutil cs deleteVolume Logical Volume ID

CS diskutil remove logical Volume Group ID

This should finish within 30 minutes. If you have taken more time, this means that your reader of fusion has been altered somehow.

I hit this issue too.  To use this command to remove the fusion drive hung up, and I need to do the hard to scramble a few sections of data in the hard disk partition table using the controls to tell the OSX this hard drive is a new without partitions:

    Cat >/dev/random /dev/disk0 (where/dev/disk0 is the SSD)

and repeat for disk1/dev/disk1 which is the HARD drive in my case).

This command will not return anything, but expect to press Ctrl-Z to end after 1 minute.

2 create independent partitions (non-fusionend) for the installation of OSX.

Borne Terminal output, and select disk utility, in disk utility, select the drive to HARD disk (and not on the partition), you will see the error message and you will be asked if you want to fix the fuser unit, click on ignore. Then wipe the HARD drive to create a single 'extended OSX journaled"named"HARD drive".

    3. Repeat step 2, and then erase the SSD drive to create a single 'extended OSX journaled"named"SSD ".

    C. install on the HARD disk as drive didier autonomous not fusion.

    1. go to Yosemite install screen and proceed with the installation of a clean copy of Yosemite to the iMAC. then connect you.

    D. use BootCamp Yosemite f5 to install windows.

    1. launch Yosemite bootcamp.

    2. check the two checkboxes for creating the USB drive to install windows 7 or a later version, and to download the windows supports the Apple software.  Do not click on the last box to install or remove windows pie creating real bootcamp partition again.

    3. it may take several hours to complete this function of your internet b/w and also performance of your USB drive.

    4. If you install Windows 7 (like me), then the downloaded drivers will not work for you, this will cause the issue of the device driver appleDSS.sys does not like this driver and others are too recent for windows 7 to use.  Also, your keyboard and mouse may not work even if you try to plug in a USB external keyboard or a mouse. You need to replace the drivers downloaded by others (the Boot Camp 5.1.5769 drivers that I find in this link: Software Support of Boot Camp 5.1.5769.) (Note: this driver is material specific only works for my iMAC model).  Once you have downloaded it, copy the two files in the root directory of the USB installation to replace the original ones. It's specific and material available for download somewhere on the Apple Site.

-From the Finder, delete the $WinPE$ and the Boot Camp of the FLASH PLAYER files.

-Expand the old drivers for Boot Camp 5.1.5769 (two records and another file) on your desktop.

-Copy the $WinPE$ and records of Boot Camp in the FLASH PLAYER.

    5. open Boot Camp Assistant again and only select the third option, install Windows 7.

It will show you the screen to select what installation disk, select HARD drive.

Then drag the slide bar to select the size of the Bootcamp partition for windows you want, knowing that there is a restriction for windows installed using training camp on a MAC that the last byte of the BootCamp partition must reside in the first byte of the 2.2 T of each physical hard drive.

For my case, I need only 500G for bootcamp and leaving behind 1.7 to for my MAC OSX partition immediately after the bootcamp partition and an another 0.8 T MAC OSX partition after him. 1.7 TB and the partition of MAC OS x 0.8 TB well exploited in the meantime bootcamp partition, will be merged into a fusion drive by Bootcamp. Thus, you will end up with total 2.5 TB of disk space in a logical drive - fuser.

Go to this link for more details on this subject: n-on-a-3-tb-fusion-drive http://twocanoes.com/winclone/support/installing-windows-on-a-boot-camp-partitio

    6. continue the process to partition the hard drive, then it will restart automatically in windows installation mode, install windows.

    7. once the installation is complete, check that windows is functioning correctly.

    E. Si you want to upgrade to windows 10 Windows 7.

1 if you plan to upgrade to windows 10, you'll find that the windows IE v.8 7 is no longer works and had many problems to load the page.  Then when you try to download the latest version of Internet Explorer, you get an error that you need at least windows 7 SP1 to support the last IE.  Life is too complicated, just download the google Chrome browser, then search for download windows 10 and then run the Microsoft valuation tool to upgrade.

2 but before upgrade you, unplug all your MAC USB drives, otherwise, you will find that, after having spent an hour downloading the windows 10 software, the upgrade will fail with the error "/ dynamicupdate...» ». It is an inexplicable mistake that no one seems to understand why. There are articles with proven results that the removal of all USB drives before running the windows 10 upgrade tool will correct this problem.

    F. reinstall OSX El Capitan

Once your target windows system (if windows 7, windows 8 or windows 10) works very well.  You can continue to create again your Fusion drive and reinstall OSX El Capitan.

    1. Insert the install of OSX Yosemite rear USB to the iMAC, and then select Restart Windows, or stop, and then turn the MAC once again.

    2. When you hear the ringing tone, press on and hold down the option key for 10 seconds. Then you release.

    3. on the selection screen, select start Yosemite OSX install drive.

    4. after starting, do not proceed to install OSX El Capitan again. But select Terminal from the menu bar.

    5. in the terminal, type the command 'diskutil list cs' and you should see nothing to prove that there are no existing fusion drive yet.

6 type the 'diskutil list' command to list all disks and partitions.

The SSD has two partitions, the/dev/disk0s1 of EFI (209 MB) partition and the other/dev/disk0s2 of OSX partition we created in step B above, called SSD around 121 G.

The HARD drive has two partitions, the/dev/disk1s1 of EFI (209 MB) partition and the other/dev/disk1s2 of OSX partition we created in step B above, called SSD.

    G. delete the logical storage of nucleus on the HARD disk drive and it refuses with the DSS to form a merger with faster performance disc

    1. Insert the install of OSX El Capitan rear USB to the iMAC, and then select Restart Windows, or stop, and then turn the MAC once again.

    2. When you hear the ringing tone, press on and hold down the option key for 10 seconds. Then you release.

    3. on the selection screen, select start Yosemite OSX install drive.

    4. after starting, do not proceed to install OSX El Capitan again. But select Terminal from the menu bar.

    5. in the terminal, type orders for (to show what are the logical volume group ID and the ID of the logical Volume of the logical drive). You should see the logical volume to basic storage group created using two partitions on the hard drive, 1.7 TB and TB 0.8 created when we run the Yosemite Bootcamp to install windows.

    Cs diskutil list

    6. in the terminal, type commands to delete logical drives from basic storage.  Note: All data will be destroyed in the logical drive.

diskutil cs deleteVolume Logical Volume ID

CS diskutil remove logical Volume Group ID

    7. tap "diskutil list" command lists all the resulting partitions. You should see that the HARD drive has the following partitions.

    / dev/disk0 (internal, physical):

    #: NAME SIZE TYPE IDENTIFIER

    0: GUID_partition_scheme * GB 121,3 disk0

    1: disk0s1 EFI EFI 209.7 MB

    2: Apple_HFS GB SSD 121.0 disk0s2

    / dev/disk1 (internal, physical):

    #: NAME SIZE TYPE IDENTIFIER

    0: GUID_partition_scheme * 3.0 to disk1

    1: EFI EFI 209.7 MB disk1s1

    2: Apple_HFS 1.7 Untitled TB disk1s2

    3: disk1s3 Apple_Boot Recovery 650.0 MB HD

    4: Microsoft database BOOTCAMP 503.0 GB disk1s4

    5: Apple_HFS 801,4 Untitled GB disk1s5

8 type the following commands to create the logical volumes group, named "myLVG" (or the name) of fuser using the usable for OSX to the SSD and HDD partitions.

diskutil cs to create "myLVG" disk0s2 disk1s2 disk1s5

Note: Mark the group id of logical volume shown in the results.

In my case, I want to book the last partition as standalone partition disk1s5 no-fusionend, so I can use it to raise the back, or format it in FAT32 to allow the exchange of data between the MAC and boot camp.

So, I do not understand this last partition in the drive of the merger. in my case, the command that I used is: diskutil cs to create "myLVG" disk0s2 disk1s2

9 create logical volumes named "Macintosh HD" (or you call it) on the logical volume group we just created for the reader of the merger.

diskutil createvolume logical volume group ID jhfs cs + 'Macintosh HD' 100%

10 command "diskutil cs type list" to check the resulting fusion drive created.
