back up files

After I have backup files - I get this catastrophic failure (0x8000ffff) message

Hi, sword,

It could be a couple of things. The main culprits are the hard drive problems... usually resolve by running a Check Disk or a DVD Windows repair. The other problem could be that the shadow copy of Volume is not start properly.
(1) open the computer, right-click on your C partition and select Properties. Click on the Tools tab. In the error checking section, click check now.
You may need to run this manually in safe mode. Here are the steps:
Restart the PC, press F8 (every second or two) during the initial boot. Select... Safe Mode with or without networking.
Click Start > all programs > Accessories. Right-click on command prompt and select "Run as Administrator"
Type > CHKDSK C: /f
(You can do this for all partitions in your hard drive. Substitute "C:" with your other partition... as > "D:")
The shadow copy of volume. By default, it will be set to manual. It will start and stop without problem. Here's how to test.
Click on start and type > Services > click on "Services" in the list above. Scroll to Volume Shadow Copy. Confirm that it is set to manual. Double-click top and check/change the startup type: manual. Click Start. If it starts well, click on stop. Close all windows.
Also make sure that your backup device is write... but this should give this message.
I hope this helps

Hello! Until recently, I've been using my Mac OS X for personal use. Internet and photos about. Now, I have a business and am trying to learn to fully use my laptop in support of my business. I downloaded the El Capitan and were a bit lost because, as I'm learning. I just bought an IPAD PRO and learn how to use this as well. I just downloaded via ITunes a few books that I read and request same "El Capitan for Dummies" library to read.

What is the best way to back up files? Should I get an external hard drive? If so, which should I expect? Recently, I signed up for the $0.99 per month ICLOUD and thought that it is a return to my files (files containing work etc.) but think that this is not the case after a lot of research?

    Please advise! Thank you!

For your iPad Pro, you can use iCloud for make backups-> How to back up your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch - Apple Support

For your Mac, iCloud Drive allows you to store all the files you want on iCloud outside your peripheral storage space, so that you can access your files on all devices. However, you cannot make a backup of your Mac on iCloud (it would take a lot of time and storage), so in this case, you will need to get an external drive. The easiest way is to make backups of your files with Time Machine, included in OS X-> use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support

Time Machine makes automatic backups of everything on your OS X partition, so you won't have to worry about manual backups. There are also other third party applications and services to make backups too.

    Hello

1 do you have full permissions to the files that you are backing up?

Looks like a problem with permissions for me. But first let's try the following steps.

Step 1: If you receive the message that your copy of Windows is not genuine, then try to validate the OS by visiting the following Web site.

    Genuine Microsoft software

Step 2: Try checking the (backup) behavior by following these steps:

    (a) you might try to temporarily disable your anti-virus and malware during execution of the backup. If the backup works fine, then you have to search for updates and firewall settings in the security software.

    (b) you can also try to disable user account control, while safeguarding.

    Reference: http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-user-account-control-on-or-off

Note: Make sure that you enable user account control and the back of the antivirus on the computer after you complete these steps. It is not recommended to disable these settings on the computer. It's just to solve the problem.

Step 3: Check to see if there are drive errors that can cause this problem.

    Reference: http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/check-a-drive-for-errors

Step 4: Put the computer in a clean boot and see if it helps. Follow the instructions in step 1 in the following article. Run the backup and check if that helps.

Note: make sure you put the computer to a Normal startup, once the troubleshooting completed.

    Hi handymanken,

    1. what operating system do you use?
    2. you have made no changes to the computer before the broadcast took place?

    Method 1
If you have any security software installed on the computer it would take more time for the backup center to back up files. Try to disable security software and try to make a backup and verify.

If it works fine afterwards, enable the security software.

Follow the link for more information

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2
Run the check disk for bad sectors.

    Check a drive for errors

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/check-a-drive-for-errors
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315265
Note: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

I want to back up files on my hard drive of diving, how do you do that?

You can use a hard drive, but it is not the drive on which the system or the boot is running.  If you have a second drive in your system that contains system information or startup, you can use this disk for backups.  The wizard backs up (Start / Control Panel / backup and restore) will guide you through the process and provide you with the options you can choose to send the information - which should include this disc hard if it meets the requirements more fully covered in the following article.

Here's a FAQ on the backup and restore that can be useful to some of your questions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-and-restore-frequently-asked-questions.

You can paste the folders that you ever want to this list by right-clicking and select Paste,

Once your done right click the new device and select eject.

It is best to copy and paste the folders instead of separate index files less and the folder structure is maintained.

How to restore backed up files (not the lightroom catalog) from one external drive to another.

I've recently saved my photo files to one external drive to another. The backup (carbon copy clone) pointed out some files corrupt on the original drive.

I deleted these files and find good copies of Time Machine backups.

I want to get rid of the original external drive; use the recent backup as my main outside and then save it to a new disc.

I'm not sure how everything is point lightroom for backups so he knows look on the new drive instead of the old drive and all points of exclamation and question marks go away.

Can I back up files of the window automatically to the Time Machine in the Mac Help. I want to only backup data from applications.

    Thnx.

Time Machine is not 100% reliable in the backup and restore of Virtual Machines and I would never use Time Machine to back up Virtual Machines and would exclude the folder containing my Virtual Machines to be backed up by Time Machine!

That said, if the files in question are outside of the Virtual Machine and inside the OS X Filesystem, for example in your Home folder, then Time Machine will back up what the file system of the host that is not excluded.
