    Switch users without logging

    If you have multiple user accounts on your computer, the fast user switching is an easy way for another person to connect to the computer without logging or close your programs and files. For instructions on creating user accounts, see create a user account.

    1. Click the Start button and then click the arrow next to the button stop.
    2. Click on change user.

    3. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and then click the user you want to switch to.

    Note

    If you are connected to a remote computer (for example, using Remote Desktop connection), you cannot use the quick change of user on this computer.

    Warning

    Be sure to save all open files before switching users because Windows does not automatically save files that are open. If you switch to another user account and the user shuts down the computer, any unsaved changes to the files that are open on your account will be lost.

  • Showing a standby screen while the background processing

    Hi all

    I implement a wizard have been I let the user fill in some parameters of network connection. When the user clicks 'next' I want to run a background process to see if the entered parameters are correct. According to the result of the background process, the wizard can continue to the next screen or remain on the current screen.

    There must be something like this:

    boolean onNext()
    {
      // Executed when the user presses 'next' (run in the EDT)

      // Show a wait popup
      UiApplication.getUiApplication().pushScreen(progressPopup);

      // do my network stuff
      boolean success = false;
      UiApplication.getUiApplication().invokeAndWait(new Runnable()
      {
        public void run()
        {
          // try to connect to the network
          // ...
          success = true;
        }
       });

      // hide the popup
      UiApplication.getUiApplication().popScreen(progressPopup);

      // return whether the network stuff was successful
      return success;
    }

    This does not work because the popup does not appear. How can I achieve that?

    Thanks in advance!

    Modal screen is very good and has some advantages, in that it means that your logic that knows what it is in the State.

    What you want to do depends on the application.  For example, we have a server locator tool, the user launches the search, then we do not secure anything, except that they cannot launch a new search until they cancel the old one.  Alert us when the search is completed or dead or expired.

    With a modal form (and we do too) I personally like this to have a Cancel button, so that the user can stop waiting - which complicates the Interface.  In fact, there is a case for the wireless network to bring an observer of the screen modal, so that he knows that he has to ignore the answer if the screen has been cancelled.

    Hello

    I have this problem with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder, and hearing, but not with Photoshop, Dreamweaver etc.

    Whenever I close one of these programs, the respective process continues to run in the background.

    I can't restart the program until I go into the Task Manager and kill the process (AfterFX.exe, Adobe first Pro.exe, pproheadless.exe)

    I already tried cleaning with the cleaning tool to uninstall and reinstall but the problem remains.

    I encountered this problem a few months after a long break from Adobe.

    Never had any problems before.

    I cloned my complete system with Acronis on a new SSD a few months ago...

    It seems to be a driver problem with the 600 series of nvidia graphics cards.

    I installed the old driver for my GTX 680 and everything works fine now (some newer drivers might also work)

    I'll write an e-mail in support of Nvidia and tell them what happened, pls do the same if you found the solution because of this post and

  • Background process in APEX

    Hi all

    I have the code below in the after presenting processes in one of the page/screen APEX and try to run the under process in the background, after submitting the process it is up to the page immediately (this is what I wanted) and launch the program code to run the program in the back on the ground, but looks like its not to make the background process. (not able to see all the records filled in the custom table, I use). Please let know us if I'm missing something or changes are required on the program below code.
    Here's the code that I currently use. When I try to run the process without any background documentation, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes and give the expected results and the workd very well. Please give your expertise on this matter, when the weather...

    How can I show the user that the work has been presented in the background

    Use the success of process Message in the Messages section of the APEX process that supports employment.

    and to show a few screen/message when the work is completed.

    Based on the method you used: is it apex_plsql_jobs or dbms_scheduler? (In both cases that the job runs asynchronously, then any notification about its status should be too. You may have the work itself by e-mail of the user).

  • Creating a background process

    We are developing an APEX application and the user asked a query be implemented as tickler report to be sent by e-mail (MS Back Office Server) to a list of users. I need guidance on two releated issues:

    (1) how to define and configure a background process in APEX? In other words, are there development tools for the planning of concurrent processes in the APEX?
    (2) how to invoke messaging by their SUMMIT in this process?

    Thank you, Ned

    Hi Ned,.

    Test if you can run tasks in the background in your Apex environment already:

    BEGIN
    IF APEX_PLSQL_JOB.JOBS_ARE_ENABLED THEN
    HTP. P ("ok background tasks!");
    END IF;
    END;

  • Treatment of shocks and expire in background processes

    Hello

    One can tell me what exactly the process of shocks & process of timeout parameter means in the Workflow background process? Generally, we submit the process by keeping settings Yes.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Kind regards
    Jyoti

    Jyoti

    Deferred process: Present a great advantage of integrating your workflow process. An example is the booking order. It comes in two flavors. Deferred and online. When you use deferred essentially booking what you say the system is to give control back to the user and to "postpone" the booking process to the Workflow Engine background making the booking a batch process. This translates into faster data entry orders in high-volume industries. So if you say this setting as Yes if it runs the process of GBM what you say to pick up all the process workflow which are deferred to be dealt with by you (GBM).

    Process time: Similarly the workflow includes another feature where you can set the time-out period during an activity. Say you have send a notification to someone to approve it so that the order can be booked. If the person is on vacation and does not have rules defined workflow, what happens is that the order is waiting to be reserved until that person comes back from vacation. In this case, you can set the 'time out' in this activity to say 12 hrs. If there is no response within 12 hours, you can have the workflow to retry this activity again or send the notification to someone else or even ignore the notification and go ahead and book it. When you set this timeout as Yes, WBG checks if these 12 hours waiting at this activity (begin_date + 12 h). If so, it will move forward the process of workflow.

    Thank you

  • Is there possible to see which are the background running processes in the system which is having Windows XP as operating system?

    Is there possible to see which are the background running processes in the system which is having Windows XP as operating system?

    There is no resource manager (or resource monitor) in the XP Task Manager.

    Please read these notes I send to the people who are (sometimes) concerned about the svchost.exe process number they see on their system or when it looks like one of their svchost.exe process has run amok.  We can not all apply to your situation, but I don't want to type in a bunch of stuff once again.  Then get Process Explorer and you will be able to be Omniscient:

    To help understand your processes svchost.exe and what is running under them, read this article and you will be smarter than the average bear:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial129.html

    You may be able to get clues with what is happening with your svchost.exe process using the Task Manager and maybe understand.

    You will always be able to understand what is happening with your svchost.exe process if you use Process Explorer.

    Download Process Explorer, so you can see what is 'really' running on your system, especially behind those svchosts several process see you in the running task manager.

    Download Process Explorer from here:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

    You'll like Process Explorer when you get the hang of it.  Process Explorer is the Manager of Windows taskbar on steroids.

    Process Explorer installs nothing so it won't slow down your system since it works only on request.

    Process Explorer can seem a little intimidating at first because it has so much information, but you will begin to make love the way it works when you're looking for performance problems.   You can even say EP you want it to be your new default 'Task Manager' value in the future.  You can always run the original tasks as Manager.

    Once you get Process Explorer running, expand the columns, made drag the corners of the screen for it's largest, etc., so you can see as much information as possible in the window.  Now you can really see what is running on the system.

    Here's a screenshot of my poor system when I use Process Explorer:

    http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/2567/ProcessExplorer.PNG

    The CPU column is usually the most interesting start with performance issues - which uses the most?

    It is OK and normal to have several svchost exe processes running.  Important XP Services are actually running under svchost.exe processes. There are sometimes an XP Service that runs under a svchost.exe process, sometimes there are several Services in XP, which runs under a svchost.exe process.

    Sometimes malware will hide behind a svchost.exe process because the malware knows that you won't be able to find it in the Task Manager.  He will hide behind a svchost.exe process to deceive you, but you can outsmart it.

    Malicious software can disguise itself also seems to be a legitimate process of XP or he could hide under/behind other processes that you see running in Task Manager if you can't see the execution.

    The malware would trick you into thinking you must use a System Restore Point, run a repair install or reinstall your XP from scratch when you really don't.

    Looking at the display in process Explorer, you want the CPU most to be associated with the system idle process.  It's 'free time' on your system, so more time there, more free.

    If you look at the graphs of performance and see red spikes (or not) double click the graphic in the upper left corner to display the graph to use.  Move the mouse over any pics to see what are the causes.  Even if the Spike has already scroll screen, you can still move the mouse over the edge to see what caused.  You can also just wait for a pic to happen and then see what caused the Spike.

  • Why the fast user switching and the new Windows Search use the Terminal Services?

    Recently, I was struck by a piece of really bad, malicious malware that totally trashed my operating system.  Therefore, as I rebuild my system, I am applying the appropriate safety precautions.  Among the recommendations of Microsoft is to reduce your footprint of security by disabling unnecessary services.  One of these services that I thought I didn't need was Terminal Server services, since it is a way for a person to get to my machine remotely.

    It turns out that, however, other services that I want to use, such as Fast user Switching and window new search utility, depend on the Terminal Server Services.  It makes no sense to me from a safety point of view.  This seems to be a bad design decision, because security trumps utility.

    If Microsoft is listening, I would like to know why you made this decision and you have changed in Windows 7?

    Second, is there a way to always have the Terminal services Server running and at the same time cut access remotely through this service?

    I don't know about the 'new' Windows Search, but what about the fast user switching you ask to run several sessions of Windows when you switch between users (a session for each user connected) and the only way that Windows can do is to act as a quasi Terminal Server, it needs Terminal Server services to run multiple sessions.

  • question of background process

    Hello and good day,
    I have a bb app that uses the alternative entry points now I am running 2 apps one is an application (where my background thread is that retrieves messages from the server) and the other is a uiapplication, I noticed that when I close my application ui with activescreen.close my background application also ends that is not supposed to be the case Please all thoughts will be accepted thank you.

    "I have observed that when I close my application ui with activescreen.close my background application also ends.

    This should not happen and I can confirm is not the case in general.  So I suspect the fact that the background of your that application closes is something in your code.

    A few notes:

    Are you sure that your background Application is closed?  You debug code and she saw through System.exit (.)?

    You must also be very carefully when you have two applications that you know actually what data they share and how they communicate.  More precisely any static variables that you think are shared are NOT.

    And a lot of people think they have an application because they started to threads by hand using a different alternative entry for their user interface, but these discussions are not an Application.  To start an Application, you will need to have used enterEventDispatcher on an Application object.  If you have not done that you don't have an Application.

    So review your code and make sure you do what you think you are.

  • How to stop a background process/thread?

    Hello

    Our previous BlackBerry app is made by someone else and now we want to make a few changes to it.

    The problem I'm working now on, it's that there's no way you can close the application, because the menu button has been disabled (he always kept running in the background). This combined with the fact that the application creates a new thread, means that when you watched on all running programs, you had 2 process that you can not stop.

    Since then I have solved the problem with the key menu and now I can stop the main application, but the background thread keeps appearing as a running process (when I choose to change to another application).

    So, after this story, my question is:

    How can you stop a process in the background?

    In my case I want to stop the background process that the application has started at some point and will not close now...

    Thank you!

    Welcome on the support forums.

    You can stop the background process using world events.

    set up a globaleventlistener in the background process and set a terminate event.

    or you might mark it as a module of the system, it would not appear in the Task Manager, then.
