Background task alert

I am spawning my own threads to perform a task. I followed the thread in the task of inactivity at regular intervals, to see if the wires have been completed or not and get an update. Now my problem is,

I would like to see Indesign leave until my task is completed. I prevent users to quit smoking by throwing a CAlert, that takes away control of my idle task.

My question is, is there an alert of background (such as the reference in the programming guide) to page 127 so that I can keep my son of surveillance and close the dialog box once the process is complete?

"

Background threads cannot directly report to the user on the progress, success or errors. These are some

presented in the background tasks Panel. In addition, an animation is displayed in the application bar when

background tasks are underway and an background task alert may appear when a background task

He must convey a message to the user.

"

Such background task is displayed when a user tries to leave indesign and itself is removed when the task is completed, as this. Is there such an API exposed to third-party developers?

Define dialogue en and then passing ' dialogue IDialog * = dialogMgr-> CreateNewDialog (dialogSpec, IDialog::kModeless); "solved the issue.

    You may have set the taskbar to auto hide, check the settings below:
    a. Click Start and select Control Panel.
    now, (b) go to the menu bar of tasks and put in service and click on it.
    C. on the taskbar tab, check if there is a check mark next to auto-hide the taskbar.
    d. If there is remove it, then click on apply and then OK.

    Method 2.
    Please check if you are facing the same question when working in safe mode.
    a. restart your computer.
    b. when the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information tap the F8 on your keyboard key repeatedly until you are presented with the screen Windows 7 Advanced Startup Options.
    c. using the arrow keys, select the desired option of Mode without failure.

  • Background tasks repeated on the PlayBook?

    Hello!

    I need to know if there is a way to implement a background task repeating for the PlayBook within a WebWorks app? I've used the search function, but it seemed that this is not possible, but I can't believe that.

    Is there a chance to make any kind of workaround or mix things (maybe have a code in the application, as well as native code webworks or something else)? If Yes, could you do a picture what needs to be done to get the background tasks repeated work?

    Thanks in advance.

    See you soon,.

    Sven

    Hi Sven,

    I think we've covered this broad already via Twitter, but I wanted to answer for others here in the forums.

    Currently the Tablet OS does not support background tasks.  Features of the application can run only during the execution of the application itself.

    To achieve something as a data synchronization, I would recommend this doing in the background while the application is open and during its lifecycle from start-up. This can be accomplished by using async XmlHttpRequest and perhaps even the Web workers?

    See you soon,.

  • The background thread alert does not work

    Hello

    I have read the article http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800332/800505/800608/... and followed the instructions to display the background thread alert. However, the alert is not displayed and IU locks (freezes). Specifically, the event of click/touch does not work, but the background thread continues to run.

    Structure of my program. The main class (with the main function) extends UiApplication. I create in the function main instance of the class that extends the Application. This class starts backgorund wire. I am missing something or making the wrong way?

    Sorry I have expired, I was going to write a long response to this.

    But in short, remember that your automatic boot process and your user interface process, both through main with different parameters and are the BlackBerry is concerned, different applications.  So it may be an Application, the other can be a UiApplication, and both can enterTheDispatcher.

    No two instances of the same Application, they are two different Applications.  They can be of different instances of the same Application class, but it is a special case.  It depends on what you create in the main routine.

    You can play a merry dance with such things.  For example, having a UiApplication be started by the automatic boot process, and then the boot gui process can find it and just put in the foreground, rather than creating a new UiApplication.

    Generally however people create a request and a UiApplication.  The problem with the use of these different applications, is that things like static are not shared.  Therefore, use something like RuntimeStore to share data.  It is a pain and something that if I can avoid.

    It is perfectly possible to have a UiApplication, which starts when the device starts, runs Background Threads that are working in a network and is bought in the foreground by clicking on an icon.  Code is more complicated, but not much.  And you must have complicated the code when you run the network Threads background to deal with the unit off power and then power anyway.

    Hope that clarifies somethings.

If it was your intention with this tool to recover a deleted file to non-system, try using a file instead of system restore recovery program.

    Have you ever tried adding the line Add-PSSnapin the scriptblock in the 2nd script.

    Another problem could be that the script sends messages of 'warning', and these may cause crashes in tasks in the background as well.

    Try to set $WarningPreference = "SilentlyContinue".

  • Liaison and background tasks

    Hello

    I'm new to Java FX. I decided to give it a try after the liberation of Netbans 7.1 and I consider it seriously for a project in hand.

    I started something following the blog of Richard Bair: http://fxexperience.com/2011/07/worker-threading-in-javafx-2-0/
    and also the File Downloader demo at: http://code.google.com/p/jfxee/source/browse/trunk/jfxee8/src/main/java/com/zenjava/download/
    But I'm having a problem here.

    The code below is a simplified version of the problem I have. I tried a number of other variants. The problem is, he can't make it "twice" and the background task is suspended. No exception is thrown. Cannot display the label 'a In other variants, well that I saw the update to reach etiquette and showing 'a', but it still hangs just after it.

    If I use updateMessage() or updateProgress() then they work like a charm, but I finally wish to pass some more complex data of my background. The code example uses a string, but finally I use ObjectProperty < T > where T will be a class of mine or maybe a collection of strings.

    What can be wrong here?
    Thank you
    -----------------------------
    SerializableAttribute public class BindTest extends Application {}
    Public Shared Sub main (String [] args) {launch (args) ;}

    {} public void start (point primaryStage)
    bar final label = new Label ("status");
    Root VBox = new VBox();
    root.getChildren () .add (bar);
    primaryStage.setScene (new scene (root, 300, 250));
    primaryStage.show ();

    the last task of ConnectTask = new ConnectTask();
    New Thread (task) m:System.NET.HttpListener.start ();
    bar.textProperty () .bind (task.fooProperty ());
    }

    private class ConnectTask extends task < vacuum > {}
    private string foo = new SimpleStringProperty();

    protected Void call() throws Exception {}
    Logger.info ("setting once");
    foo.setValue ("one");
    Logger.info ("defining twice");
    foo.setValue ("two");
    Logger.info ("set thryce");
    foo.setValue ("three");
    Returns a null value.
    }

    public final String getFoo() {}
    Return foo.get ();
    }

    public final void setFoo (String value) {}
    foo.setValue (value);
    }

    public string fooProperty() {}
    return foo;
    }

    }
    static Logger logger = Logger.getLogger (BindTest.class.getCanonicalName ());
    }

    Please wrap your code in the code of {tags} when the assignment makes it easier.

    Your call is in a background thread, you want to do an update in the JFX Thread (FXT). updateProgress done automatically for you, but for more complex values, to do a little work yourself. Richard works on improving the API of tasks to do this (next version I think) but in the meantime:

    protected Void call() throws Exception {

            // do some slow background stuff (I'll just sleep for fun)
            Thread.sleep(1000);

            Platform.runLater(new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                    // this is on the JFXT so you can update your values
                    logger.info("Setting once");
                    foo.setValue("one");
                }
            });

            // do some slow background stuff (I'll just sleep for fun)
            Thread.sleep(1000);

            Platform.runLater(new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                    // this is on the JFXT so you can update your values
                    logger.info("Setting twice");
                    foo.setValue("two");
                }
            });

            // do some slow background stuff (I'll just sleep for fun)
            Thread.sleep(1000);

            Platform.runLater(new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                    // this is on the JFXT so you can update your values
                    logger.info("Setting thryce");
                    foo.setValue("three");
                }

  • Creating PDFs background tasks

    Is there anyway that I can create PDF in the foreground the old way so that I can see the status bar?

    I use exactly the same PDF settings I have for the last 2 versions of Indesign, but for some reason, when this function is executed in the background, it is extremely unstable and PDF creation fails.

    It's frustrating because I don't see there not successful and bunch of other PDF files up behind it and also fail, I don't then no may not even close Indesign because he thinks that he is running a background task, so I have to force quit.

  • Use memory slider in a background task

    I'm doing research on a solution for a customer and need assistance because I am admittedly a novice of the Oracle. They run 10g Enterprise Edition.

    {color: Navy} * problem * {color}: create a background process of low priority that uses DB idle windows to read a large table (over 25 million records) running at the same time and perform some simple operations with a few fields of each line. The process should run 24 x 7 by default, although capable of being administratively pause / restart at any time. It must also suspend M hours after the last read line and restart after a following hours of N.

    H3.
    Oracle jobs
    First of all, I wonder if it looks like a task for a "job" managed by the Scheduler (< tt > < /tt > DBMS_SCHEDULER), which can be enabled or disabled to mimic features pause/restart.

    H3.
    Cursors and memory usage
    My second main question lies with the memory usage. One of their major concerns is that the background process are not a lot of memory on the server. The general flow, I worked upwards:
    < Li > function1: declare and open a cursor for the primary SELECTION. This must be run only once. Call function2.
    < Li > function2: the second function main would perform an extraction of a line of the cursor and make a call to an auxiliary function to act on the data. Function2 will run constantly as the main process.
    < Li > Function3: close the cursor. Would be executed at the last line of the table, or if for any reason any admin. decide to interrupt the process prematurely.
    < Li > if the customer decides this, this process can be constant, then it would be restarted automatically with a call to function1.

    However, I do not understand sliders enough to know if who care a lot of memory on the server throughout the life cycle of the master process, knowing in advance that identifies the cursor result set is very large. I tried to search for this time in these forums and manuals (the administrator of the DB, SQL Reference, Guide to the application developer), but not able to find a clear answer - I got lost somewhere between PGA and SGA memory. The furthest I've gotten in the agree sliders is that they are a set of simple instructions, not a copy of the resultset object and therefore occupy a significant amount of memory resident. I would appreciate a check on the question of whether this is true or not.

    I'm wide open to suggestions - thanks in advance for the help!

    CrackerJackhammer wrote:
    Of course, I was referring to an explicit cursor when I asked about disabling coherent reading. I am very doubtful that it is a good idea, not more.

    Unless the life of the cursor is a relatively short period of time allowing a coherent reading efficiently maintained.

    Dealing with large volumes of data do not deny the use of cursors (such as indicating in substance that SQLs must not be used on large data sets). And is not a true statement.

    Simpler examples, a select on a large table count is also a read uniform. How long does take a few billion lines? It can be as fast as [seconds | http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3638946#3635598].

    So there are ways to deal with large sets of data in Oracle fast enough. And there are quite a few weapons in the arsenal to deal with large volumes of data. Partitioning is a. Parallel processing is another.

    You must also decide where you're going "+ pay + ' for this treatment. You can pay in small quantities at the front – by a trigger that makes ' + Act + "during the validation of these data. Or basically pay lump sums by ' + Act + ' via a background task that hits all the lines that are not covered in the table with parallel query and DML for example.

    Another challenge I have with this client, is that since they are a large company and in fact have their own team of development, requirements come from different members of this team. According to who wrote them, they are better or worse described and often good housekeeping in the technical requirements detailed framing a boxed solution. Expect management to review these requirements and weed out them out we should be able to offer us... go figure.

    Yes... It is always a problem when it comes to multiple parties - determine the real needs, separating the nice-to-have the agent.

    I threw the "explicit big momma cursor that does everything ;) "possibility, because it has far too many questions. Instead, we offer the customer that add us a column to the debts_table following the processing status, 0 or 1. 0 if it has not been processed yet, or errors occur in the transformation and 1 once it is successfully treated. 0 is the default value for all existing records and adding of new debt. In this way, all I have to do is select a line at a time, perhaps by order of date more than the debt, and if his status is 0 then treat. If successful, update the State 1. Flow would go back to the select statement, who would choose the next row with status = 0 and so on.

    This can work. You can also break down work in units of work using additional predicates from the client area and date, disc physical range lines. With unit of work, you have a pieces of treatment easier to manage to run - and these can be run in parallel, run of offbeat way or same anti-theft.

  • How to make a background service that perform a background task

    Hi all

    I am applying in which I want to start a background service that start automatically when the device restarts and do certain tasks related to the substantive application. How to do this, please explain...

    Please use the search engine before posting questions.  I put "application background" in the search box and got the following which I think will give a good start.  There are other useful matches too so research for yourself.

  • Idle device, power off, repeating background tasks

    I read somewhere that a background thread does not rescheduled tasks with a frequency that is too high, because it will prevent the device entering his "idle state" and so drain the battery.

    I have found no documentation on this, can someone please confirm and possibly a link to the documentation, if they exist? I have a background application to query for changes, every few minutes or seconds even according to the risk of exhausting the battery.

    Without doubt, when you press the power off button, the unit is actually off the coast and not in a State of rest? Or is there ongoing stuff while it's "off"?

    Thank you very much.

    Yes, it's true: frequently repeating tasks will prevent the unit goes into low power mode (standby). It is not just "lazy" mode with the screen turned off - it's a deeper sleep, so to speak. Make sure you reschedule these tasks at very low frequencies (time in hours) when the application is not active and that the screen is black. Distributes them regular intervals when the application become active.

  • A background application alert

    Hello

    I have an application of Backgorund who request a number to a server, when the server returns the value '0' nothing happens and when he comes back ´1´ an alert appears (based on How_To_-_Alert_a_user_from_a_Background_application).

    a few questions:

    1. the application appear in the task switch, I think because of the UiAplication "extend", it is not no matter what screen or form to display, only the alert, when I chose my request on the switch it appears a white screen as expected. but is it possible that the application does not appear there?

    2. it must be a simple. How can I add an action of noise or vibration to alert?

    Thank you!

    What you see (the very short sound, etc) makes sense.  The queueStatus() is not blocking.  So as soon as you have lined up this screen for display, the following code is executed and your code lights out.

    I suspect that you have these choices

    (1) to include a DialogClosedListener in your dialog and turn off your notifications in there

    (2) start another Thread sleeping for any exercise you want and then turns off things

    (3) scrap turn code in your main line, i.e. after the sleep (2000);

    I'd probably do (1), but it's also probably the most work.

    I also recommend that you change the priority of your screen from 1 to a larger number.  I had problems with priority notifications 1 layering system dialog boxes, which I don't think you want.  I tend to use 99, although I have no reason to do so.

  • 4.0EA3 SQL Developer background tasks

    Hello

    I just upgraded to ai2 to EA3, and I noticed that it is doing some new background checks...

    The problem for me is that when I change a (huge) package body, these stains seem to accumulate;

    He said to me: "Comparing the subprogrammes body < package name >" followed by a bar, then "(50 plus...) '"

    This makes working with the very slow code (sometimes it hangs for a minute or so at a time).

    Is there a way to disable this "feature"?

    Mark

    Tools > Preferences > Code Editor > display > see the bread crumbs

    BUT

    It is a bug, and we have it squared away for the official release. If your task pileup/CPU problem must be addressed in the future.

  • Shutoff valve 3G / 4G to stop the background task using data

    Android enabled me to shutoff valve 3G / 4G, except when I wanted it on.  This controlled use of unwanted applications as data updated in the background.  I want to really just phone and text except when I need data services.

    You can turn off the cellular data settings. Disabling the LTE (4G) and 3 G without disable cellular data will stop all data usage. If cut you 4G and 3G, the phone will come down to the network EDGE (2G) if it is available. It will always use data, just more slowly.
