Idle device, power off, repeating background tasks

I read somewhere that a background thread does not rescheduled tasks with a frequency that is too high, because it will prevent the device entering his "idle state" and so drain the battery.

I have found no documentation on this, can someone please confirm and possibly a link to the documentation, if they exist? I have a background application to query for changes, every few minutes or seconds even according to the risk of exhausting the battery.

Without doubt, when you press the power off button, the unit is actually off the coast and not in a State of rest? Or is there ongoing stuff while it's "off"?

Thank you very much.

Yes, it's true: frequently repeating tasks will prevent the unit goes into low power mode (standby). It is not just "lazy" mode with the screen turned off - it's a deeper sleep, so to speak. Make sure you reschedule these tasks at very low frequencies (time in hours) when the application is not active and that the screen is black. Distributes them regular intervals when the application become active.

  • Background tasks repeated on the PlayBook?

    Hello!

I need to know if there is a way to implement a background task repeating for the PlayBook within a WebWorks app? I've used the search function, but it seemed that this is not possible, but I can't believe that.

Is there a chance to make any kind of workaround or mix things (maybe have a code in the application, as well as native code webworks or something else)? If Yes, could you do a picture what needs to be done to get the background tasks repeated work?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Sven,

I think we've covered this broad already via Twitter, but I wanted to answer for others here in the forums.

Currently the Tablet OS does not support background tasks.  Features of the application can run only during the execution of the application itself.

To achieve something as a data synchronization, I would recommend this doing in the background while the application is open and during its lifecycle from start-up. This can be accomplished by using async XmlHttpRequest and perhaps even the Web workers?

  • end 2012 iMac 27-inch randomly turns off during simple tasks

    HI I end 2012 27 inch I Mac

while I do tasks such as there is a time when I was waiting for a word on Microsoft word 2016 document while listening to a YouTube video, my Mac goes off randomly. If I move the mouse that nothing happens, or if I click on the keyboard, even when I click on the button at the back of the mac market. To remedy this, I have to cut the plug from the socket and wait a few minutes, then switch it on again, then without me touching the power button on the back of the Mac turns. I have a usb hub that has a constantly on the Mac is on the head, and when the problem arises that the led is not on so I'm sure that the Mac is turned off completely without power. The power offs get more frequent, and at first I thought it was because it was when I was using Windows in virtual box, but I deleted the virtual machine and the problem still happens.

I think it has something to do with the power supply becpause I have the iMac connected to an extension cord about 7 meters which is plugged into the wall outlet

the extension has only two taken end that which I use for the Mac and one for my printer (brother j132w) but I don't think that the printer has nothing to do with it, because the problem happens even just the I Mac is connected to the extension lead.

  • A30: Power off during installation

I have a laptop of a30 satallite and I started to reinstall and it just power down, I have to resart whole again, I get not anywhere with her.

I have checked for dust and construction, discharged the battery long-term it etc and still nothing, please help.

    Concerning

    Magi

    Hi Magi,

I guess you are trying to install your system from the recovery CD when the device turns off.

Normally, this indicates that the restore process has difficulties to write to your hard drive and therefore the unit turns off.

If you have access to a bootable CD with utilities (like Norton DiskDoctor or Ultimate Boot CD) of error checking so you can try the hard drive for scanning errors.

My HP Pavilion zv5240 running WindowsXP SP3, its power off suddenly by itself after running for 20-30 min. eventhough works on economy mode. What is going on?

This could be an overheating problem.  If your CPU overheats, then the power will suddenly cut to your computer.  Boot safe mode starts with less processeses and running tasks and so your computer can run more fees.  Since you get 20 to 30 minutes, the way to check this is to download and run freeware 'CoreTemp '.

It displays the temperature of your CPU and show you if it is not too hot before you stop.

The two main causes of overheating are fans of CPU does not and a build-up of dust in your computer that acts as a blanket and causes overheating.   If overheating is your problem, open the case, check the appropriate fan and buy a can of compressed air to blow the dust bunnies.

Another possible cause is bad RAM (memory) memory modules.  Try to remove and re - insert your RAM modules.  There are also tests of RAM, you can run - although they tend to be CPU, so you won't know if you have a RAM problem or a problem of temperature.

  • Power off SX20 with tactility and touchscreen

    Hello

is it posible to power off of the SX20 codec through the touch screen? I just saw the option pending, but I can't find how to turn off the power.

Furthermore, how can I set the sensitivity of the touch?, now when the codec is the sleep option, when someone is near the touch screen of this change online without touching.

    concerning

    Hi Filiberto,

No, the SX20 cannot be turned off through the touch screen.

You can reduce the sensitivity of the touch by turning on the resilience of the EMC mode.  To do, look on the Touch under settings, administrator (and connect), EMC resilience and set on IT.

Note: Your question might be better placed in the section of forums where these devices are more actively discussed as in the section on IP Video telepresence , you posted in-I would say, if the above has not answered your query, you move your discussion there.

  • Background task alert

I am spawning my own threads to perform a task. I followed the thread in the task of inactivity at regular intervals, to see if the wires have been completed or not and get an update. Now my problem is,

I would like to see Indesign leave until my task is completed. I prevent users to quit smoking by throwing a CAlert, that takes away control of my idle task.

My question is, is there an alert of background (such as the reference in the programming guide) to page 127 so that I can keep my son of surveillance and close the dialog box once the process is complete?

    "

Background threads cannot directly report to the user on the progress, success or errors. These are some

presented in the background tasks Panel. In addition, an animation is displayed in the application bar when

background tasks are underway and an background task alert may appear when a background task

He must convey a message to the user.

    "

Such background task is displayed when a user tries to leave indesign and itself is removed when the task is completed, as this. Is there such an API exposed to third-party developers?

Define dialogue en and then passing ' dialogue IDialog * = dialogMgr-> CreateNewDialog (dialogSpec, IDialog::kModeless); "solved the issue.

  • Random VM power off

At the time, all the virtual machines on one of my hosts (Host1) just turned off. The only entrance to task was 'HA Configuration on Host1' and it was initiated by the system, because it seems that there is no username listed in draft. I've been able to be able to only save the right virtual machines and expereienced almost no downtime. Just a little weird just VMs would come down like that on a single host.

    Any ideas?

You have a power outage or your heart rate host is disconnected by accident?  If you check the settings of cluster HA, and under "Host Isolation responds" they all set?  If it has 'Power Off' that could be the problem if the pulse network is isolated.  But you haven't noticed anything on your network or problem of the power of the host server for the moment so I don't know what are the causes.  Did you check all the logs that point to specific events.

If you found this information useful, please consider awarding points to 'Correct' or 'useful '. Thank you!!!

  • Use memory slider in a background task

I'm doing research on a solution for a customer and need assistance because I am admittedly a novice of the Oracle. They run 10g Enterprise Edition.

{color: Navy} * problem * {color}: create a background process of low priority that uses DB idle windows to read a large table (over 25 million records) running at the same time and perform some simple operations with a few fields of each line. The process should run 24 x 7 by default, although capable of being administratively pause / restart at any time. It must also suspend M hours after the last read line and restart after a following hours of N.

    H3.
    Oracle jobs
First of all, I wonder if it looks like a task for a "job" managed by the Scheduler (< tt > < /tt > DBMS_SCHEDULER), which can be enabled or disabled to mimic features pause/restart.

    H3.
    Cursors and memory usage
My second main question lies with the memory usage. One of their major concerns is that the background process are not a lot of memory on the server. The general flow, I worked upwards:
< Li > function1: declare and open a cursor for the primary SELECTION. This must be run only once. Call function2.
< Li > function2: the second function main would perform an extraction of a line of the cursor and make a call to an auxiliary function to act on the data. Function2 will run constantly as the main process.
< Li > Function3: close the cursor. Would be executed at the last line of the table, or if for any reason any admin. decide to interrupt the process prematurely.
< Li > if the customer decides this, this process can be constant, then it would be restarted automatically with a call to function1.

However, I do not understand sliders enough to know if who care a lot of memory on the server throughout the life cycle of the master process, knowing in advance that identifies the cursor result set is very large. I tried to search for this time in these forums and manuals (the administrator of the DB, SQL Reference, Guide to the application developer), but not able to find a clear answer - I got lost somewhere between PGA and SGA memory. The furthest I've gotten in the agree sliders is that they are a set of simple instructions, not a copy of the resultset object and therefore occupy a significant amount of memory resident. I would appreciate a check on the question of whether this is true or not.

I'm wide open to suggestions - thanks in advance for the help!

    CrackerJackhammer wrote:
Of course, I was referring to an explicit cursor when I asked about disabling coherent reading. I am very doubtful that it is a good idea, not more.

Unless the life of the cursor is a relatively short period of time allowing a coherent reading efficiently maintained.

Dealing with large volumes of data do not deny the use of cursors (such as indicating in substance that SQLs must not be used on large data sets). And is not a true statement.

Simpler examples, a select on a large table count is also a read uniform. How long does take a few billion lines? It can be as fast as [seconds | http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3638946#3635598].

So there are ways to deal with large sets of data in Oracle fast enough. And there are quite a few weapons in the arsenal to deal with large volumes of data. Partitioning is a. Parallel processing is another.

You must also decide where you're going "+ pay + ' for this treatment. You can pay in small quantities at the front – by a trigger that makes ' + Act + "during the validation of these data. Or basically pay lump sums by ' + Act + ' via a background task that hits all the lines that are not covered in the table with parallel query and DML for example.

Another challenge I have with this client, is that since they are a large company and in fact have their own team of development, requirements come from different members of this team. According to who wrote them, they are better or worse described and often good housekeeping in the technical requirements detailed framing a boxed solution. Expect management to review these requirements and weed out them out we should be able to offer us... go figure.

Yes... It is always a problem when it comes to multiple parties - determine the real needs, separating the nice-to-have the agent.

I threw the "explicit big momma cursor that does everything ;) "possibility, because it has far too many questions. Instead, we offer the customer that add us a column to the debts_table following the processing status, 0 or 1. 0 if it has not been processed yet, or errors occur in the transformation and 1 once it is successfully treated. 0 is the default value for all existing records and adding of new debt. In this way, all I have to do is select a line at a time, perhaps by order of date more than the debt, and if his status is 0 then treat. If successful, update the State 1. Flow would go back to the select statement, who would choose the next row with status = 0 and so on.

This can work. You can also break down work in units of work using additional predicates from the client area and date, disc physical range lines. With unit of work, you have a pieces of treatment easier to manage to run - and these can be run in parallel, run of offbeat way or same anti-theft.

  • Bug: iOS 10, Siri invades even lock screen with power off

iOS 10, Siri invades even lock screen with power off

Since the upgrade to iOS 10 (iPhone 5 s) siri appears when I forgetting to unlock my phone because I'm not used to this way to unlock yet. But siri on lock screen is disabled in the settings. I can close siri all together, but I don't consider it as an option.

Is this a bug in the iOS 10 or did I miss something?

    Hello nick_ve,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see that since you have upgraded to iOS 10, Siri starts each time you try to unlock your iPhone and Siri on the lock screen is disabled in the settings. I completely understand, because when I upgraded, it took me a few tries to get adjusted to unlock with the Home key. I'm more than happy to help you with this.

Press the Home button on your iPhone 5s once unlocks the screen, and freezes for more than one second will activate Siri. It is good to keep this in mind when you unlock your iPhone.

There is also an alternative solution I would like to share with you. You can disable this option in settings > general > accessibility > Home button. Turn the finger remains open. You can unlock the iPhone with Touch ID without having to press the Home button.

    Have a wonderful day!
