Backup failure Time machine

After buying a new iMac (retina 5K, 27 inches, end of 2015), I had recurring guests ("Apple backup failed"). I have been through several conversations at levels 1 and 2 and more recently, have been assured that an engineer might contact me on the problem. The iMac will save after reboot; also, if I eject and back up the backup drive (Lacie D2 Quadra). It will be OK for a week or two and then fail again. Yet once I was through a handful of Apple cats, got to the point where I like an engineer ends by contact me, tried any number of reboots in different modes. Anyone have any idea?

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be all Messages. If it isn't, select

in the menu at the top of the screen bar.

In the upper right corner of the Console window, there is a search box to filter. Enter the 'Start-up' (without the quotes). You should now see messages in the log with the words "departure * backup," where * represents one of the words "automatic", "manual" or "standard".

Each message in the journal begins with the date and time when it was entered. Note the time stamp of the last 'Start' message that matches the start of a normal backup. Now

DELETE THE WORD 'Start' TO THE TEXT BOX

so that all messages are showing and highlight the newspaper at the same time, you noted. Select the time-stamped messages since then until the end of the backup or the end of the log if it is not clear. Copy to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command + V.

If all you see are messages that contain the word 'Start-up', you clear the text field.

  • Backup Restore Time Machine does not see RAID external drive

    Hi all

I have a problem with my iMac restore from a Time Machine backup, and I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem already.

I had to reinstall OS X El Capitan from scratch, based on education, I received Support from Apple. That worked without problems and my iMac works fine. However, I wanted to restore it to how it was before, using Time Machine. I keep my backups on a LaCie 5big Thunderbolt 2 and never had any problems with it.

To restore the system, I followed the instructions on the Support page. I restarted my system in recovery mode and selected the "restore from Time Machine backup". Unfortunately the LaCie 5big does not appear on the list of drives, so I'm stuck... When you use the system in normal mode, the external RAID is visible and Time Machine stores backups on it without any problem.

Any of you are familiar with this problem? I would be very grateful if you could help me with this problem!

    Kind regards

    Valerio

    Hello

  • Backup from Time Machine not recognized

Hello. I have a mid-2011 21 "iMac 2.8 GHz i7 with 16 GB of RAM, running 10.11.4, El Capitan. My old 1 TB HDD (HARD drive) was giving me problems (grinding and draw and he had considerably slowed down), so I backed up the computer with Time Machine (which I did for years), and I bought a 1 GB SSD from OWC replacement kit. I installed it in the hard drive, location in my iMac, reinstalled the operating system, and the new drive is running great. No problems with it.

The drive Time Machine is a disk HARD Seagate 2 TB external drive connected by USB to the computer.

So, my next step is to transfer the old news of Time Machine in the new drive. I tried first Assistant Setup in recovery mode, but the Machine of the time in the car was not found (recognized). When I started normally, the drive of the Time Machine is visible on my desktop, and backup files appear in there.

So, then, I ran on the drive disk utility. I could not launch 'repair' the disk as a whole (the button is dimmed when I click on the disc), but I fix the partition on the disk. No not found errors.

Then I went in the Migration Wizard to move the files. But I had the same problem as before - Migration Wizard does not see the Time Machine drive.

So. I tried to enter Time Machine 'Star Wars' show on the computer and dated backups appear on the right side of the screen, but then, when I go to look at, it does not appear that there is something in them.

I kept the old drive HARD and (in panic), I ordered a box to put the old drive, and I'll try to get the files this way. But, I still want to use the files on my Time Machine drive.

At this point, the only thing I have to save my documents, my pictures and family videos and music. If only I could get in the 'Home' on my Time Machine backup folder by clicking on the player, I will manually install the files 'Desktop', 'Documents', 'Movies', 'Music' and 'pictures '. I don't know if this is possible, and I have never done this. I don't like not everything 'Applications', or anything else, so I'm willing to do the grunt work on those reinstall the old way. Can manually install you the items in the folder to the home page of Time Machine in another drive?

Any advice you can give literally will save me! I'm kinda at a loss on what to do. The last time I used Time Machine to do this (to transfer the files on the iMac 2011) it worked like a charm.

    Thank you! Clay

  • 'No available backup disk', Time Machine is not more Time Capsule

I have a time Capsule 2 TB and it has been used by Time Machine for many months.

Time Machine reports the error "backup disc not available."

Time Capsule lights are green, AirPort Utility is showing this device being lit also.

Time Machine knows how much space is available on this unit. However, it is not able to use this device to register older backups or to create a new.

  • Slow backup on Time Machine to Seagate Maxtor M3

    Hello

I'm trying to save on a Seagate Maxtor M3 2 TB external, portable player using Airport Extreme and Time Machine, since my Mac Book Pro 13 "beginning 2015."

Is 7 hours for a 91 GB a reasonable turnover?

The backup seems to stop when the machine mode 'sleep', is there a way to keep it alive and back up, even with the black screen?

Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions you may have.

    Kind regards.

    Toni

Hello Toni, I had this problem too. Your backup hard drive maybe a good speed, but the usb of the airport is only a USB 2 port, and he has always shown to be slow for me when I connect a hard drive in this way. My suggestion would be to go in on your mac Energy Saver preferences, and then select the power adapter. Then select never sleep. Then at night, turn your MacBook Pro on the charger and let it open. Then connect the backup hard drive, and it backs up during the night. Airports have shown to be a little weak in this area. In fact, my Airport stops working if I try to do.

  • Backup a Time Machine backup?

When troubleshooting a Mac in the past, I had the frightening experience of him erase my Time Machine backup.  Fortunately, I was able to restore the backup on the disk.

Now I'm troubleshooting a Mac, I have my external drive Time Machine and a blank disk.

For security reasons, before making troubleshooting more away from the Mac, I want to back up the Time Machine disk to the blank disc.

Of course, I could just drag - copy the folder of documents from one disk to another, but it can cause all sorts of permissions problems. Would it not possible (or better) to use a backup like Carbon Copy Cloner for this application?

Try using disk/restore to copy the backup to a new location. Please note that this will reformat the destination partition.

You can then go to system PreferencesTime Machine and add the blank disc as a backup drive.

  • Backup Restore Time Machine: not enough space

Hi all, I am a neophyte tech so forgive me if I'm not clear. I will try to explain the problem as best I can:

I have an old MacBook 2009 running Mountain Lion. A few months ago, my brother gave me his old Pro and so my MacBook 2009 fell by the wayside. I used an external hard drive with that old computer as my backup time machine, but as I tried to transfer a lot of documents and photos and update of dropbox and download photos of google and to understand each of these things as I went along, I totally messed up the MacBook. Just... things are weird... nothing was, where it used to be and my photos were gone and Yes, much of this is probably down to me trying to understand a bunch of new programs at once, BUT what I want to do is to restore it to the way it was using a time machine backup.

So, I googled around and I know when I start it up until I'm supposed to press Ctrl + R and choose the backup that I want, but when it gets to the part where I select a destination and click the only option (the Mac HD), an error message appears with a yellow flag saying "this disc is not enough space to restore your system.

Now, I don't really know what that means, but what I want to do is to get rid of the current way, this computer is completely and attach it to the way it was when I did the last Time Machine backup.

Someone help me please... this stuff is so frustrating when I can't figure it out for me and I am sure that there is an easy solution. I read a lot about partitions etc. but I don't know what all of this means that even.

    Thank you in advance!

    Alexandria

  • Photoshop and backup on time machine Photos

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro when I installed Photoshop Elements. I have a good collection of more than 17000 photos that are in the Organizer in Photoshop elements (photos Photoshop app organization). I also have thousands of other photographs in the iPhoto itself that are different from those of Photoshop.

I take a backup of my machine on an external hard drive through a Time machine. I want to know if the backup contains pictures located in the Photoshop elements Organizer. If so then if I need to reproduce these images on another computer I will be able to do. If the backup Time machine does not include pictures, so if I take how to.

The backup must include Organizer, except if you have excluded in System Preferences/Time Machine. Why not copy the Organizer existing to the other computer, rather than use Time Machine?

  • First external USB disk backup from Time Machine and Time Capsule

I have a new USB drive from 4 TB to use for backups Time Machine plugged on my almost full Time Capsule.  The Capsule is connected to my network using Ethernet, so it can be used to back up my MacBook Pro and iMac (via ethernet) (wireless).

I would like to initial backups by directly plugging the USB directly on my iMac and my MacBook Pro.  I currently have the USB plugged into the Capsule of time connected to the ethernet. The initial backup for my iMac took 2 hours to make the 35GBs of 1.6TBs to back up so far.  So potentially 2 + days of initial backup...?

There must be a quicker way.

I tried to make the backup of the iMac by plugging the USB drive of 4 TB directly on the iMac. I then moved the dUSB Time Capsule drive, but he seemed to start when plugged into the TimeCapsule. If possible, I must have done something wrong in the order.

It is extremely difficult to backup directly to the USB port and then move it to the TC because TM backup differently at local and network drives.

  • corrupted backup iPhone: you can restore old backup from Time Machine?

    Hello

I recently had my iPhone 6 (last iOS 9.2) stolen and when I bought my new 6 iPhone updated to iOS 9.3.1 and it synchronized, he said that the March 21 backup was corrupt or incompatible.

Leaving aside Why is it (except if in your knowledge, it has an effect), I was wondering is it possible to go into the Time Machine and find the last iPhone backup (hopefully not corrupt or incompatible) and then use it when you synchronize and put up my new phone?

So in this case I would lose a week / a month value of the data over the year or so for my backup previously listed on my iTunes currently.

More important still, I need to get my SMS and notes.

For now, my contacts seem to have all come finer.

A big thank you for any help you can provide.

    See you soon
