bad move files in lightroom 2.5

I can't solve a problem with moving the files in Lightroom 2.5. While in the program, can not drag and drop images from one folder to another. If drag and drop IE (Windows Vista) and then go back into Lightroom 2.5, catalog do not update or acknowledge the move was done. I resynchronize the files each time.

From the video tutorials I've seen, it should be capable of these very simple things. I'm still new to LR and learning but can't seem to go beyond that. Is this a bug or installation problem? Don't know what Miss me, but he's driving me crazy, would appreciate any help.

Sincerely,

Bob

When you want to place a picture in another folder in LR, you must drag the thumbnail, not the rectangle around the thumbnail.

Lightroom can not find the new location of photos installs under Windows. Just not a feature of this program. Therefore, you are better off to make the journey in LR.

I don't know what tutorials you watch, but as I said, the location of files that have been moved in Windows is not a feature/capability of Lightroom. You have to point Lightroom to the new location of the photo, or better yet, place the photo in LR. Or, better still, not to move photos from one folder to another, rather to browse your photos in Lightroom, using keywords, metadata, and collections (rather than folders) as a method of organization.

  • Is it possible to change the Date digitized for Mov files in Lightroom?

I'm scanning some old photos.  Unfortunately programs such as Dropbox and OneDrive display Mov files by their Date digitized.

Therefore, my scanned photos are indicated by the date I scanned the. I can't seem to find anyway in LightRoom to change Date digitized so that they appear on OneDrive/Dropbox in the right order on my iPad.

    Any help would be appreciated.

LR support for metadata of the video is very low.  It can read some of them, but it will never write back changes to the video file.  You can use the metadata > edit Capture time change internal notion of LR of the capture date, but no other program will see this modified date.   You can use Exifmeta or Capturetime to EXIF plugins to set the capture time in the metadata of the video file, which will allow other programs to see the time update.

  • How to move files between folders in Lightroom 3?

I would like to move a file from one folder to another one of Lightroom 3 (do not discuss why). I searched the net but couldn't find the answer (maybe I missed it). When I click on a photo in the grid view and then drag and drop this file into another folder in the folder Panel (for the move), a small sign more (copy) appears and a copy of the file is placed in the second folder. If I try to delete the photo in the original folder (for the move), two copies of the file are removed. I tried pressing all kinds of keys on the imac but unable to get the move to work. Ideally, I would like to move a group of pictures but can not move even one. Does anyone know how to move files between folders in Lightroom 3?

Try to select the pictures, right click on the folder target and choosing "move selected Photos to this folder.

  • Lightroom 6: problem whith move file or a folder internal hd.

Hello, I buy lr 15gg 6 and worked fine but I have a problem.

The catalogue is to C then the images are in the external hard drive. When I want to to move a file in un folder, or move the folder to un external hard drive I get this message:
Impossible to move file to the chosen destination.

If I move files or records of C (internal hd) to Esternal hd, I have no problem.

I also have problems when I want to Rename un photo: Rename impossible!

    Why?

computer laptop whith 8.1 W, 8 GB ram, SSD 180 GB.

The catalogue is C, while the images are in the external hard drive. When I want to move a file in a folder, or move the folder to an external hard drive, I get this message:
Impossible to move file to the chosen destination.

If I move the files or folders of C (internal hd) Esternal HD, I have no problem.

What you describe in these two paragraphs sounds the same to me, but you say we work and we didn't. I'm confused.

However, the error message "'Impossible to move file to the selected destination" means that you don't have the appropriate permissions to your operating system to do this. " The original folder and the destination where the file should be moved in must have READ & WRITE permission. If you must change your permissions on these two issues.

  • MOV files do not work on my PC more

I'm not able to play on my PC MOV files more. I get an error with Quicktime indicating a bad Atom 2002 PC worked until recently without any problem and now does not work. I can convert the files, but I don't want to have to pay for a converter when there is a software conflict between Apple and Microsoft

A solution around getting Mov files to work is to abandon the Microsoft product initially and use player VLC can convert from there, it seems a player of the test of the bombs as he doesn't care if it is a format of Apple or Microsoft.

  • Import d7200 Nikon .nef files into Lightroom 5.7.1

Why Adobe don't make it easy on photographers and do so that you can directly import raw files into lightroom from Canon or Nikon or Olympus.  Why hassle free to your users and make them go through the dng converter.  This seems really bad business.

The D7200 requires at least 6.0 Lightroom or Lightroom CC 2015.0. If you have this version and get this message then it could be that you used an earlier version of the Nikon software to upload your images.

  • SAFE TO RENAME/MOVE FOLDERS IN LIGHTROOM?

I recently had a few corrupted images (creation date has changed to 31/12/69) and when I spoke with applecare they told me that I got should not rename/move folders in lightroom itself, I should move them using the finder, then lightroom point to them after the fact. is this true? This seems to be an annoying extra step, but I don't want to take any chances. (although could be bc I've renamed the external drive itself, who knows).

I also move large files my internal drive my drives in lightroom because I like how it removes from inside (source) instead of just copying the most. is it safe or is there a better way?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Move files and folders of in Lightroom on THE SAME DISC seems to be ok.  Moving files and folders in Lightroom of ONE CAR to ANOTHER could be a problem.  He has had several discussions on lost files from it.  There seems to be a rare and obscure bug that Adobe says they have carefully studied, but can not find.  This has been the case for several versions.  I will move the files on the same drive but would use the technique of "move outside of lightroom/repeat" if I ever moved the files from one disk to another to avoid this bug.

  • I do not understand the structure of files in lightroom

I use ligtroom for a little while now, and I never really took the time to try to understand the structure of files in lightroom. Looking at it now, I'm totally confused.

I'm on vacation and take tons of pictures and their import to my laptop (and an external hard drive).

Since my trip is coming to an end, I'm wondering how to transfer all these catalogs to my office when I get home. Without messing up all the files that are already there.

So I start looking at my Lightroom folders in my documents, and I like lightroom 6 6 develop records, 2 6 lightroom develop files previews.irdata, which I am unable to open and have no idea what is in them.

And I have a folder on my desktop called new lightroom 6, which has a file called lightroom 6 in which has all my latest pix.

How to consolidate this mess when I know not what is half of the files because I can't open most of them?

Small question is - how to get catalogs and collections of my computer laptop lightroom app to my desktop lightroom app?

    Thank you

Lightroom does not really use a file structure, it's a database.

The photos must be in a folder somewhere in your operating system, and when you import a photo into Lightroom, the location of the actual folder and file name is entered in the Lightroom database, so now Lightroom knows where your photo.

Now, I don't know it that all of these folders on your computer that you describe. You'll have to sort this possibility, somehow, perhaps by opening each folder Lightroom (not in your operating system) to see the benefits. Now, when you look in your operating system, you must find all the folders that contain pictures of Lightroom (you just find these files in the previous sentence), as well as the folder that contains your catalog and presets and preferences file. The default locations for these things and instructions to move your installation of Lightroom to another computer, are here: How can I move a computer to a new Lightroom?

  • Why can't I import. ARW or. JPG files in Lightroom 2015.4 more after update?

I am on Mac OS 10.11.3 El Capitan and am under Lightroom 2015.4 CC [1060496], Camera Raw 9.4 and Lightroom does not import my Sony. ARW files with a 77 error saying that it cannot read the file.

It won't matter is no longer. Jpg or the other.

Photoshop Camera Raw will read the files and import them into Photoshop very well.

I installed Adobe Raw Converter and convert the. ARW to. Files DNG but Lightroom still will not import, copy, or move files.

Any ideas on what could be the problem?

    Hi OrionsGlow,

It seems that it is access read and write on the folder you need to do.

Try to change the Destination folder, or give read and write access to the folder selected in the destination from the Finder Panel.

    Kind regards

  • How is - a matter of Capture One Pro 7.0 files in Lightroom 5.3?

I'm trying to import CR2 of Capture One Pro 7.0 files in Lightroom 5.3. I've done this before, but this time this LR5 does not see the files but I know they are there.

OK, I have communicated poorly. I realize that the CR2 files came from my Canon camera. I made the assumption that the question had something to do with the files in a folder of Capture One. There is no sense to me why I could view the files in a finder window. I had too many images in subfolders to drag-and - drop or move them. They were organized in subfolders Capture One of the shoot.

I also realize that the files are no more in Capture One, while they are in LR.

Just after I posted this, I decided to quit LR and restart my computer.

    Problem solved.

No idea what it was, but it is questionable.

Thank you two for the answer.

  • Moving files from lightroom on external hard drive

I read a few post on this topic, but I have not found the answers I'm looking for.

I want to take all the pictures on my computer and put them on an external hard drive.  If I'm in lightroom and connect my external hard drive, if I just move all files to a disc external hard takes them out of my computer?

In addition, I want to do is make a folder for each calendar year and the changes made to the photos.  So, if I save my project and move it over the pictures, this means that any changes I made on these photos will stay with these photos?

To have all my pictures on the computer, if I wanted to reopen a file from my external hard drive through lightroom, they automatically opens with all the changes always made for them?

Point 1: Yes, Lightroom will move from your computer to the outside. However, I would not recommend doing so, I copy the files from the computer to the external help for your operating system and when you checked the copy is ok and you've "updated the location of the folder" in Lightroom and then you can delete the folders on your computer.

Point 2: You can do manually in Lightroom using the sort options to reach the older that you want or craete a new catalog and import your current and the importing stage move files to folders by date order.

Point 3: Yes, it will be, but you won't be able to 'work' the files that are on the drive offline, unless you have generated clever insights.

  • Location of the files in Lightroom 3

I move the files on my hard drive for a better structure.  I have no problem with most localization files in Lightroom, but I have some problems.

I use keywords to pretty much all of my photos in Lightroom 3.  Sometimes I click on a keyword group and it isolates these photos but I don't know where the photos on my hard drive.

Can I click on a photo in Lightroom 3 with a Word key and know where it is located on the hard drive, so I can reassign?

    Thank you

You can display the name of the folder where the image is stored by setting display options and select the file for the display of the grid or the magnifying glass. It does not show the actual path, but you probably have a good idea where it is.

On a basis of individual photo, you can just right-click the picture and select Show in Explorer. This opens a window of the Explorer to the actual location of the image.

You can move the file in the Solution Explorer window, but you will need to tell Lightroom where you moved it.
