Import d7200 Nikon .nef files into Lightroom 5.7.1

Why Adobe don't make it easy on photographers and do so that you can directly import raw files into lightroom from Canon or Nikon or Olympus.  Why hassle free to your users and make them go through the dng converter.  This seems really bad business.

The D7200 requires at least 6.0 Lightroom or Lightroom CC 2015.0. If you have this version and get this message then it could be that you used an earlier version of the Nikon software to upload your images.

  • Why can't import of Nikon NEF files in Lightroom 6?

I bought Lightroom 6 recently, and he has now upgraded to the latest version. I use a mac as El Capitan.

Normally, I shoot and import the jpg files from my Nikon D5300, but thought I would try shooting RAW. However, despite the fact that the camera is supported and the help of Adobe pages confirm that there should not be a problem, the file will not import directly from the memory card.  Lightroom displays thumbnail images of photos - as usual - but then comes up error message, that the files were not imported because they could not be read. Nor NEF files copy as DNG on the hard drive.

I went through all the settings and spent hours reading the forums.  I know that I'm probably going to convert files, but it would be great if it worked right. What is the problem here?

    Hi giuliamary,

Seems that your place of destination is not properly defined.

Make sure that the location of 'TO' in the top right of the import window is correctly set and a full read and write permissions.

    Hi mikegcross,

Nikon D7200 files are not supported in Lightroom 4.4

Yes, it would work very well after that the Lightroom CC/6 upgrade or you can use Adobe DNG Converter to convert these files to DNG and then import into Lightroom.

  • My d7200 nikon NEF files are not open in Camera Raw in CS5.  Help, please!

I'm trying to update Camera Raw 6 version 9.2 for CS5 as ACR does not now read my NAVE of Nikon d7200 files.  Any suggestion or help would be appreciated!  I need to upgrade to CS6 or y at - it an update for CS5?

    Hi jennifern87216455,

Nikon D7200 files would not be supported in version CS5.

You can either upgrade to CS6 or CC version to get the latest version of Camera Raw, or you can install the free DNG Converter to convert your raw files to DNG and access then in Photoshop CS5.

  • Why aren't my import NEF files in Lightroom 5 more?

I have a camera of Nikon D7100, I shoot RAW in.  I imported these NEF files into Lightroom 5 of my camera on previous occasions, but recently I wanted to import new photos.  The new photos show on the Lightroom Import screen, but when I click on the button import the software acts as he begins the process of import, but never done, finally showing a warning box saying the file could not be read.  What happens and how can I solve this problem?

I'm not familiar with the Apple disk utility to repair permissions, but if it does not change the permissions on the destination folder, then she will not solve the problem. In addition, sometimes people accidentally change the destination folder, and all of a sudden, the record isn't what you think it is. The symptom of labour stopped is often associated with an accidental change in the destination directory.

So my advice in this situation is to actually determine what file is specified as the destination in the import dialog box (cela there looking in the dialog box import and make a note of which folder it is; not to assume whether the folder that you have always used) and then change the permissions on this file WRITE permission.

  • Why don't CC with Lightroom and Photoshop CC open my D7200 Nikon raw files?

I just subscribe to creative cloud (photography) because the listed site support raw Nikon D7200 for versions CC with Lightroom and Photoshop files.

But after their installation, they will not open the NEF files.

I downloaded and installed the latest version of Camera Raw, but I can not always open the raw files.

OK, I just discover another discussion that my problem was caused by Nikon Transfer.

I had been using the version of Nikon Transfer, I had with my previous camera, which apparently corrupts a D7200 Nikon raw files.

I have transferred my images (using Lightroom) and NEF files open fine in Lightroom and Photoshop.

    Thank you

  • Unable to import raw files into Lightroom on Mac

I am trying to download raw Nikon (NEF) photos in Lightroom.  I was able to easily download them to my computer based on windows, but you just bought a mac and lightroom seems to no longer accept these photos.  Please let me know if there is a setting that I can change.  Thank you.

What kind of error message do you receive? Quote it exactly, if you please.

If it says that the file cannot be read, this means that they cannot be written. Not the greatest error message. In any case, if this is the case, you will need to change the permissions on the folder that you copy in, while you are allowed to write there.

(If you try to write on an external drive that you used on your Windows machine, it is probably formatted so that the Mac addresses it read-only. There you can get programs that allow to write on these Mac disks.)

If this isn't an error message, let us know.

  • Could not open the RAW of Nikon d5500 has been added (.) NEF files) in Lightroom CC

    Hello

I recently bought Adobe Lightroom CC and installed on my MacBook Pro OSX running 10.11. However, when I try to open the FIRST (.) NEF files) from my Nikon d5500 has been added I get the following message 'the following files were not imported because they could be readable.' as can be seen in the screenshot below:

    Screen Shot 2015-10-24 at 15.23.27.png

I am also under the latest version of Lightroom CC with Camera Raw 9.2 and I read that the Nikon d5500 has been added was supported Camera Raw 9.0

    Screen Shot 2015-10-24 at 15.23.39.png

The files open fine in CC Photoshop so I don't understand why they don't open in Lightroom CC.

Someone can help or Lightroom CC not actually does support for the Nikon d5500 has been added RAW files?

Your import asked Lightroom to copy pictures to a folder that does not have write permission. Determine which folder you want to copy the photos to (it's in the Destination of the import dialog section), then go to your operating system and make sure that this exact folder Lightroom has WRITE permission.
