Bad sound with my Satellite M40-230

  • Which adapter AC can I use with my Satellite M40 - 307?

My dog ate my Satellite M40-307 cable (unfortunately he survived), I want (NEED) a replacement. The Toshiba web site lists the replacement as an adapter 15 - 17V, where clearly the adapter provided with my PC is a 19V adapter. The rear of the machine also lists a DC 19V - 3. 42 power needs.

    Can anyone help?

You are right. You need power adapter 19V. To be a little more precisely, you need AC adapter / CC and without PA3396E-1ACA PA3396U-1ACA part number.

    Please check it out.

  • Problem with hd satellite M40-155 (PSM40) & Seagate Momentus 7200 RPM

    Hello to all Toshibians,

I recently upgraded from hd (origin: Toshiba 100 GB 4200 RPM) in my M40 - 155 (PSM40) satellite with a Seagate Momentus 100 GB at 7200 tr/min/8 MB cache.

I work in the area of music production and after much advice I realized that I needed a faster HD to maximize the number of audio track (working on projects of audio tracks of 40 +).

This Seagate hd has been installed in a computer pro shop.

When you go to work, after you have reinstalled all applications, I noticed everything was surprisingly faster navigation, at the opening of the applications in CPU resources that I use for music production, BUT there, I had some real wicked behaviors of the computer: BEFORE the new installation of hd, I managed to open very large projects, I work currently on and AFTER the installation of the hd , I noticed the reading has been bit sluggish UNTIL I have NOTE WITH the AUDIO-APP OWN CPU METER THE CPU A VA WILD AFFICHANT QUICKLY CHANGE the VALUES OF the USE CPU 25 to 85% to 40% to 99% goingfrom NOT STOP CAUSING the INNACURATE READING.

I tried ALL audio applications I need to see if it was not related to a particular program, but NO: the problem is general.

(I did every possible scan with windows tools, my bios is up to date, I do not have the virus, there is still a lot of space on the disk, I defragmented the hd...)

So, I have a HD quality much faster and decreases performance?

I already e-mailed seagate, but am waiting for a response.

This situation is urgent, because it is the only computer I have and use professionally on a daily basis.

What could be the problem? Anyone of you has experienced a performance problem during the hd upgrade? Is there something I could do to fix this? Is there a program that could solve this problem?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Best regards

    saxophonick

    Hello

Sorry, this is a very special issue.
I can only suggest what's wrong or why it occurs.

The fact is that the new HARD drive is much faster. In this case, the CPU must manage more data and processes.
Well, I put t know if it helps to solve your problem, but I recommend you change some settings in the performance options.
Go to control panel and system. Choose the Advanced tab.
Check in the second Advanced tab that the use of planning and the memory of the processor is assigned to programs. In addition, you can check the virtual memory settings.
You can increase virtual memory, or you can set it to the size of the managed system.

Are all this advice, and you should try it but I m not 100% sure if this will solve your strange problem

  • Satellite M40-230: what cables are needed to connect to the TV

    Hello

I went to PC World, where I bought my M40 and asked them for cables to connect to my TV using the s-video connection on the back of my laptop.

They said that this was not possible because S-video does not sound.

Does this mean that I have to get a separate cable for audio to use via the speaker/headphone jack?

Please let know us that it is a little confusing.

    Thank you, George.

    Hello

As far as I know it of possible to connect the laptop to the TV with an s-video cable.
The dealer is right, but there are different s-video cables.

You can use one with s-video on one end Jack and taken 3 RCA (2 audio and 1 video) on the other end of the cable. Or you use a SCART instead of the 3 Sockets.

  • No sound with Toshiba Satellite

    My laptop was working fine.

I took it to a friend so she could plug him some speakers that she bought for a party. She covers them and they do not work. Now my speakers on the laptop work either, nor do speakers of mine that I used before. I don't know anything about, but through 'search' on the internet, I decided to download the new drivers.

There is nothing. Because I'm impulsive, I reformatted my computer. Still nothing. I had given up hope, but a few minutes ago my laptop emitted a high-pitched beep, leading me to believe that there may still be a chance. Everything seems fine to me, a layman. When I open the audio icon thing, there is a little green bar bouncing up and down, which I think is good.

    Any help?

    Hello

I would like to know what model of laptop you have. Is this old laptop model?

Because your impulsive reaction you did the right thing. If you have installed the OS via Toshiba recovery CD/DVD everything should work fine with the factory settings. Of course, if there is no hardware malfunction.

Please check once more in If Device Manager sound card is properly installed.
Retest with helmet. Be also sure THAT MUTE option is disabled (FN + ESC). Check the volume control button. Maybe is up to minimum level.

    Please post the results.

    Hello

If the sound does not work, it means that you have not installed the audio driver.
AFAIK the A300-1MS supports the Realtek ALC268 audio chip.
If you should download audio Manager Realtek Realtek HD page and should install it.

    Method 1:

I suggest trying the steps and check if that helps.

    a. click on Tools , then Options.

    b. click on devices and click on DVD.

    c. Select Properties.

    d. make sure that the read and Rip are set to digital.

    Method 2:

Begins to regret having bought a Toshiba.

I think that the audio driver is not installed corectlly... try it unistal from Device Manager, and after reinstall...
for sure, it's a software problem...
If it does not try to know who is the producer of the sound card (for example, realtek) and download the driver of his support instead of toshiba...

  • Satellite M40 does not start

I have several problems with my Satellite M40-149.
When to stop crashes on a blue screen.

Almost impossible to start. After a few shakes and if its my llucky day, it starts, but in most cases crashes to the Toshiba logo "in touch with tomorrow" with the four symbols for hd, cd, floppy and script. I did all the tests, I could find, there is no virus, the hd is ok (I tried several) and after successfully
start the screen looks ok to me.

I even tried Linux on another with almost the same results, very difficult to start.
Is there another test, I could do (except the Toshiba test)?

Any suggestions on where to find are welcome!
    dimlog

    Hi dimlog.

This seems a bit strange as a hardware problem. I can t imagine it has something to do with the software, for example. If the computer laptop doesn't boot correctly and freezes on the screen Toshiba (BIOS screen) something wrong with the hardware.

I m not a technician but maybe the motherboard is the reason for this. But to make sure that it is the cause of the laptop should be checked by a technician of the laptop.

If you can fix it yourself, also have a look on eBay for second-hand parts they are cheaper as new parts.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite M40 - 307 (PSM44E) BIOS update

    Hello
    I'm actually having a satellite M40-307 with a BIOS version 1.2.
Many of them came with BIOS v.1.3.
If someone is having a 1.3 or a higher version of BIOS, I want to send him a Toshiba util to send me its firmware.

    Concerning

    Hi Etienne

Don t think that a series of Satellite M40 PSM44E were shipped with the BIOS 1.3 or higher.
Series only the BIOS 1.2 is available for the PSM44E. It s on the page of the Toshiba driver.

Of course, you will also find an other BIOS updates; v1.7 and v2.0
But these versions are released for other Satellite M40 series and are not compatible with the Satellite M40 * PSM44E.*

    Welcome them

  • Equium M40x: Can I use the adapter for Satellite M40 series?

Can I use a power supply on my Equium M40x if it says it is compatible with the Satellite M40 series? The two laptops are similar, and the image of the card looks the same as the one I had. The part number is PA3378E-3AC3.

    Hello

the satellite needs a power adapter 65W and 19V.
Your power adapter output performance is too large (75W), you should not use it to avoid damage to the satellite.

  • Satellite M40 - speakers with web based streaming

Recently bought a laptop Satellite M40. Last week, I started having a problem with the playback of certain audio stream on the internet. Basically, you hear the audio OK, only comments and sounds high through the speakers or the speaker I use via a USB connection. Does anyone have an idea what may be the problem? (Note: CD playback is fine, the problem is audio streaming web-based). Do I need to install an updated audio driver?

    Thank you

    Garret

    Hello

On this path, it is not easy to tell exactly what is happening, but the fact is that web-based streaming audio quality depends on the connection itself (connection speed). I put t know what connection speed, you have, but I noticed that the internet radio works on my laptop fine but if I want to watch TV Online I have the same problem. The sound quality is very bad.

My DSL speed is high but I think that the server is probably overloaded and data transfer is not fast enough.

    Good bye

  • Various issues with Satellite M40 225

    Hello

I am having some problems with my laptop Satellite M40-225. -Here's...

First of all when booting I get a bad / lack error OSB, in order for me to get to the start I must incline Press esc, go into the bios then get out of the bios tilt the laptop again and it will start then.

Also I sometimes get errors BOSD, sometimes he mentions ati2, but above all it says physical memory.

I have flashed the bios to try to get rid of the first error but no luck.
Nothing new has been installed on the laptop, I even reloaded windows and tried with a spare hard drive, but nothing seems to work!

Please help, I know that probably need something alternative, but I don't want to start buying things for her I have I don't know what's going to fix it.

    Thank you

    Susie

    Hello

AFAIK usually Missing/Bad OSB logo error message is displayed if the error was detected in the BIOS or CMOS ROM module

But according to the BSOD with physical memory error error, I guess that your modules of memory are not correct and that this must be the main reason for you questions.

Of course I could be wrong also, and perhaps the whole issue is related to the faulty motherboard but in the first step, you should check your modules of memory installed.

Hope you will get rid of these questions after a replacement memory.
    I keep fingers crossed ;)

    Good luck
