Bad Vista

I have a sony vaio that came with vista home premium and I had to replace the hard drive.  I had win vista ultimate and now some of my devices (image device builtin webcam) wil not work cause the drivers are not compatible with my version of vista.  How can I get the version Home premium original on my new hard drive?

Contact Sony support and buy recovery discs. It is generally very cheap, around $25-30. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

    Good day to all,

I am writing because my girlfried has problems with his computer. It has Vista Home Premium OEM installed on its Vaio.

Because she prefers her Windows in Portuguese, on his first visit to Brazil (against my recommendation, I have to say) she had a friend install a Portuguese version of Vista Ultimate. Went wrong after a year and she had done until recently and since the computer is very slow.

The problem is that the person who has installed, formatted disks, so I guess there is no way to perform the recovery. Besides the fact that the computer is incredibly slow.

Now, I would like to help out (be holy if you want) and re-install the Windows. Is it enough to simply pop in the DVD the Windows created at first boot? I ask, because it takes forever to turn on just the thing, yet alon trying to open a file or a program.

If this is not the way, I am open to any advice.

    Thank you!

(as it says in its defence "I paid for Windows when I bought the laptop, so techncally, what I did was not piracy" and I replied: "well, if you really believe that you should have upgraded to Ultimate".) Not that she cares probably version... :))

    Hey fiorinho

the version of vista that you purchase the license is the specific version

as you know that you can not install any version of vista that you want to install with a particular license

by "created windows" you mean the recovery disks of the sony vaio recovery process manufacturers were given the option to when it was new

start from the 1st recovery disk and it should give that invite you to upgrade his machine back to how she bought

If this does not work, you can contact sony vaio and ask them to send you a set of vista recovery disc to factory standards

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    http://eSupport.Sony.com/en/VAIO

and vista oem licensed versions are specific language too

You can try asking them if they would send you recovery disks portugese Home premium

I do a new repair install using the correct windows disc? Update C80003FA error code and AutoCorrect cannot correct problem (States: failed). Thank you

    Hello

If the DVD you have is Microsoft Vista DVD (retail or OEM System Builders DVD sales) that you have bought yourself that shouldn't be the problem with a repair installation, because they contain the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Information from Microsoft about this update error code points to the problems related to the Internet.

This is where you got the Fix - It of?

    "Windows Update 80244016, 8024402f, or c80003fa error".

Another thing that you do not tell us is why you did a repair install, as this can have an impact on your current problem.

  • Virtual machine suck GBs

    Hello

I am running windows Vista x 64 Edition with vmware fusion (v2.0) on my macbook (intel 2.4 ghz) and his very fast memory to aspire. I do not have stereotypes and for now the virtual machine occupies approximately 26 GB of my memory.  Whenever I have start windows with vmware, that I immediately lose about 1 GB of memory on my macbook, which I can recover after the closure of vmware, so I guess it's normal. However my memory has been declining constantly when using vista, without doing me anything other than use internet explore (no games or downloads) and I never get back that memory. I can't seem to understand what causes this loss memory constant and fast (in an hour, it can go up to 2 GB of memory loss). (I also get an error message when you start vmware stating: "serial0: unable to connect to the printer virtual daemon after 25 attempts.", but I think that its not relevant).

Here are some details on how to configure the settings for vmware:

-Processor: 1 virtual processor - RAM: 1084 MB - Autoprotect: disabled - HDD: SCSI Bus type, size of 40 GB drive, pre-allocate space unchecked, divided into 2 GB files audited.

I tried also to enter the windows Vista x 64 Edition in my virtual machine library by right-clicking and selecting "view the contents of the package. I noticed he called files named "Windows Vista x 64 Edition - s0xx.vmdk", from of "Windows Vista x 64 Edition - s001.vmdk" to "Windows Vista x 64 Edition - s021.vmdk" and "Windows Vista x 64 Edition-000001 - s0xx.vmdk" ranging of "Windows Vista x 64 Edition-000001 - s001.vmdk" to "Windows Vista x 64 Edition-000001 - s021.vmdk» These files are the 26 GB of memory of my virtual machine.

I would be grateful for any suggestion, as my vmware fusion is rendered unnecessary by this problem (less than 2, 2 GB of free space on your computer, that you can not even start the virtual machine so I had to remove tons of things to make it work) and I need it badly vista for my studies.

Thank you very much for your help!

I tried to delete the file, but then I get an error message when launching vmware: "file not found: Windows Vista x 64 Edition - 000003.vmdk this file is necessary to power on this virtual machine."  If this file has been moved, please provide its new location. »

  • Satellite P100-102 works badly since the installation of Vista

    Hello!

I installed Windows Vista on my Toshiba p100-102 (A3E) but I had a 'small' problem. In each 3D app, I had a lot of shifts and slowdowns. I think it's a problem with the graphics card and I think the grapics card fan works slow since installing vista. Thus it reduces the mhz for a few moments (1 minute at) (I think, I'm not shure)

so... anyone have any idea what I can do? Maybe should I use an alternativ graphics driver?

did you properly installed all the drivers for your system? It s absoulutely necessary that everything is correctly installed and configured.
Another thing is: Joanie to install the latest version of the bios, because I had a problem with my Satellite A100 after installation of Vista and I was able to solve it with my bios update.

Regarding the graphics drivers, I can give you some links that might help you with your performance problems:

  • Vista SP 2 and DFS = logon failure: unknown username or bad password.

After updated a few customers today to this service pack level, they could no longer reach the namespace which worked just.  I have a mix of XP SP3, Vista SP1, SP2 and Windows 7 clients.  All clients are x 86 with the exception of the Win 7.  This error message and the problem is only affecting customers who have been updated to SP2 on Vista.  All other clients work as expected.  They can reach the root server and use DFS.  What is very interesting is, if I'm fast enough, I can't open the way and navigate files briefly before he launched me.  Trying to go back the namespace, I am prompted with:

    U:\ is not accessible

Connection failure: unknown username or bad password.

After rolling back to SP1, everything works fine.  What should I do to get the latest updates and also use DFS?

    Thank you

  • How to fix the error message 'bad image logoui.exe error' starting in windows vista?

I have windows vista installed on my hp laptop. I used it for at least a year until a few months ago, I started to meet this error message at startup:
"LogonUIexe-Bad Image C:\Windows\system32\HID.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try to install the program with the help of original installation media or contact your software support provider or system administrator."
Is anyone having this problem. Please provide a cure.

    Hello sheritaG,

Run The System File Checker utility:

To determine if the problem you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool analyzes the system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search .
    2. Right-click cmd in the programs list and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue
    3. To order invites, the following line and press ENTER: sfc/scannow (Yes there is a space after sfc)

This analysis may take some time to complete. When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved. Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

  • My hard drive went bad so I bought a new. I installed Windows Vista and everything works until I try to install SP1...

As I said in the title, my hard drive went bad on my Dell XPS 420.  I was running 32 bit windows vista service Pack 2 since the last time my hard drive gone bad.  The first time I replaced my hard drive I used the cd of Windows Vista install with cd drivers and using automatic updates of windows.  In a few hours, I had my pc up and running.  But with this record, it's a completely different story.

I did the same thing with her.  Installed Windows and drivers as before and I go ahead and do the automatic updates.  Everything is okay until I get to point when I download and install windows Service Pack 1.  I download, install and it seems to work very well.  Then it restarts to complete the installation and configuration.  After about 30 minutes of this, he finally said service pack error.  Restoration of the changes.  He then takes 30 minutes more to do.  After that, I get a screen saying that Windows does not start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  Follow-up by telling him to use the windows cd repair section.
I did this 3 or 4 times to do different techniques.  I did it with the automatic windows update.  Manually as an administrator.  After using the analysis tool in Windows Vista and in another way when restore you some files.  I am about to throw my pc because I've probably spent nearly 10 hours of messing around with it and honestly it's not my time unless there is ANOTHER way that deserves to be tried before I "Offices" of the thing.
Honestly, I think I read every article on this subject online.  If I type in service pack 1 and vista online I went to all the links on the first 10-12 pages...
If anyone has AN idea please let me know.  Yes, I would like at the office space that it but it would also be good to have another pc with a new hard drive...
    Thank you.
