This error goes bad distribution of Vista + file Volume\supportfiles\WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe. If the file is not installed or bad in bad vista - program will be failed. Question is closed.

My WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2 - x 86 .exe file = 0 bytes, in Volume\setup.ini with the registration of hands:

[MsiEngine]
WinNTPath = supportfiles\WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2 - x 86-.exe

It's done, because installator with normal WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2 - x 86 .exe under XP:

  • Windows vista updates keep coming back

OK here is my problem > everytime I turn on my computer or restart my computer it says (configuiring updates do not turn off the computer) and then takes an hour or more so when that stops and tries to go to windows it says (updates were not properly confiquired. restoration of changes, not stop computer... and takes even longer to do... today) , it took nearly five hours before that I could use my computer...

also, I don't know if this will help or not but can't go to all the backups, it says I have none.

Please HELP ITS DRIVING ME EVEN MORE CRAZY lol

    Hi angea,.

Thank you for using answers Forum.

Are you referring to the restore points system or computer backups that you have made your files?
Restore points are deleted after some updates, but there should be at least one.

Long update times can sometimes be the result of anti-virus software preventing the update of scripture to secure portions of the operating system.

I suggest to disable your anti-virus temporarily while performing the update.

If this does not help, there may be software conflicted with the update process.

You can perform a clean boot to isolate programs starting for the origin of the problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to solve problems in Windows Vista by performing a clean boot. This article also describes how to start the Windows Installer service and how to reset the computer so that it starts as usual.

Note When you perform a clean boot, you may temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the function returns. However, you may receive the error message, or you can experience the original behavior.

If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    a. log in the computer using an account with administrator rights.

    b. click on start toreduce this includes this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

Reduce this includes this imageIf you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue.

    c. under the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the Load Startup items check box. (The box use the Boot file is not available.)

    d. on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft services check box and then click on disable all.

Note Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    e. click OK, and then click restart.

Step 2: Enable half the services

    a. follow steps 1a and 1B to start the System Configuration utility.

    b. click on the Services tab and then click to select the hide all Microsoft services check box.

    c. Click to select half of the check boxes in the Service list.

    d. click OKand then click restart.

Step 3: Determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have initially enabled in the Service list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 and 2. In step 2, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the Service list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one service is selected in the list of services , and you the problem persists, the service selected the cause of the problem. Go to step 6. If no service is causing this problem, go to step 4.

Step 4: Enable half of the startup items

    a. perform a clean boot by repeating step 1.

    b. click on the Startup tab and then click to select half of the check boxes in the startup item list.

    c. click OK, and then click restart.

Step 5: Determine whether the problem returns

If the problem persists, repeat steps 1 and 4. In step 4, click to clear half of the check boxes that you have originally selected in the startup item list.

If the problem does not occur, repeat steps 1 and 4. In step 4, select only half of the remaining check boxes that are cleared in the startup item list. Repeat these steps until you have selected all the check boxes.

If only one startup item is selected in the startup item list, and you still experience the problem, start selected in the list element is the service that is causing the problem. Go to step 6.

If no startup item causes this problem, a Microsoft service most likely the cause of the problem. To determine which Microsoft service may be causing the problem, repeat step 1 and step 2 without selecting the hide all Microsoft services check box in each step.

    Step 6: Resolve the problem

After you determine the startup item or the service that is causing the problem, contact the manufacturer of the program to determine if the problem can be solved. Or, run the System Configuration utility, and then click to clear the check box of the element of the problem.

Step 7: Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

Click on start toreduce this includes this image, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box and press ENTER.

Reduce this includes this imageIf you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click continue.

On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart.

Please let us know if that helps.

  • I get a pop up asking that I want to install Windows 8. I have Windows Vista and have no idea of what is Windows 8. Do I have to install it or not?

I have Windows Vista, but I get a pop up asking me to install Windows 8.  I'm not a computer Wizard, LOL.  I use my computer for basic, surf, talk to friends and to the these.  Do I have to install it or not?

    Hello

There is no such thing as Windows 8. Maybe it's spyware so leave well alone. First of all I suggest you do a complete virus check of your system. I assume that your system has antivirus software to protect your system?

Download the free version of Malwarebytes Anti Malware (www.malwarebytes.org ) install this application and do a full scan to see if it picks up nothing. • Error code 57 on Windows Vista update

I used update of Windows Vista to install "needed updates", but he stopped with a big stop sign RED with an 'X' in it and said:

    ERROR
SOME UPDATES HAVE NOT BEEN INSTALLED.
    FAILED: 1 UPDATE
CODE 57: WINDOWS HAS ENCOUNTERED AN UNKNOWN ERROR

It's typical and tedious to Microsoft.  I am flooded with requests to update my computer to IE8, but when I try to download and run IE8 (with or without the special pack MSN) I got error message saying:

INTERNET EXPLORER 8 CANNOT BE INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER
IT YOU ARE MISSING SOME UPDATES. PLEASE UPDATE AND TRY AGAIN

And of course I can't update so I can't IE8 - DAMN these situations of Catch 22 that Microsoft continually puts me in.  I think they must have scientists working on the theory of how long it takes someone to become completely crazy frustration so that they could make a statistical presentation of the scientific community as a breakthrough on stress or something LOL.

What I need is someone to tell me what him Hey to do this so that I can get out of this endless loop, download the update reprisé (I think that it is Service Pack 1 - real service... not!) and be able to get FINALLY IE8 on my computer.

You would think after having spent HUNDREDS OF dollars on a new and improved Windows OS it could be at least a semblance of quality but you know what, Microsoft does not even allow one free phone call - well I wouldn't stand behind this kind of work if I created such a poor quality product that every 2 seconds should be updated and then for some reason he can't.

But * sigh * we are all indebted to Goliath and I am not David so I can't kill the giant, I'll have to try to work with em and see if I get a help at all.

Oh, LORD, I pray that I get help within 48 hours of sending this (08/01/2010).

    Hi BobVictory,

The only way was to take the advice of others here, and then we had to also remove all the data, we wanted to record on a secure hard drive, write and find all programs, reformat the whole, perform all updates of Windows, reseating all programs (MS Office, 3DO, Adobe, etc...) and recover data from the hard drive secure.

I still run Windows Vista Ultimate Pro and not passed to Windows 7, but I just saw that Windows 8 is out, so what's the point? I'll probably wait for Windows 9 or 10 before the upgrade, because they seem to change every year and now my Vista running great, until I update each. Hope you find the same resolution for your computer.

  • Repeated installation of Windows Vista SP1 in Windows Update and fake notification of successful Installation.

I was using Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit OS in my Dell Inspiron 1501. The operating system is preinstalled and Windows Update updated to SP2. But recently an unknown problem has occurred and my laptop cannot connect to the internet. As no reason was found, experts have advised the reinstallation of Windows Vista. I reinstalled Vista by running the operating system provided by Dell with my laptop DVD. The laptop started to connect to the internet normally.

I started to receive an update to Windows Vista SP1. I installed it. Installation has suddenly didn't have that about five minutes and the computer also has not restarted several times on its own as expected. At the end of the Windows Update notification "Update" successful installation Update history shows also succeed installing SP1. However, I am receiving the same updated daily and installed in exactly in the same way with the same result. After installation, the Windows version does not display Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 but only Windows Vista Home Basic. What should I do?

I had the same problem and it really irritated me. Even when you install SP1, and he says there are successful (takes like 1 sec inst) and you click on updates search is there once again. He said in the story who is has been installed, but is not there, when I tried to install SP2 maually it is said first install SP1, and then I tried to manually install SP1 and it says that I have already. But if you go to start > right click on 'computer' > properties it does not say you have SP1. So here's what I just did and now it worked and SP2 as well.

When you click on the support link that he gave u get the ability to run a thing 'fixit '. That run. And it still didn't work. (read everything in the support page) Then I went on this link and ran the virus Hunter MS. Nothing was found, problem still there. so I ran again the file 'fixit '. (twice he said them that something was fixed.) then I restart my computer and tried to install the SP1 Setup again and it worked perfectly :) then SP2 and it worked as well manually. and he has actally took like an hour to install. maybe try, worked for me. lol, don't know what measures was unnecessary, but it worked. You can download the SP to install it manually, simply google "manually install SP1/2 for vista" or something and download it.
Sorry for the bad grammar/spelling. In a hurry, lol. I hope that you manage!

  • I have Windows Vista 64 processors w/a & able to run 32-bit & 64-bit programs. How can I go about installing of some 32-bit programs?

I have a Windows Vista Home Premium with a 64 processor. It is able to run 64-bit programs and 32-bit. It seems (wired) LOL, to run 64-bit programs. I understand that it saves space on the CPU?  I'm desperate to run the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player, but it will only work in 32-bit version of Windows Vista. Is it possible that I can get there?  I checked my system & under Internet Explorer 32-bit, the only programs are JAVA STANDARD VERSION 6, version 1.6.0. & Speech text... Is there anyway I can use my 32-bit version of Internet Explorer to run some programs that I can't run currently not using the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer?

    Hello

    1. what happens when you try to install 32-bit programs?
    2. you receive an error message?
3 are you facing this problem with any program in particular?
4 is that the problem is with addons like adobe flash player works only in Internet Explorer?

Most of the programs designed for the 32-bit version of Windows works on 64-bit Windows version. The notable exceptions are many antivirus programs. Device drivers designed for the 32-bit version of Windows do not work on computers running a 64-bit version of Windows. At the same time the programs designed for the 64 bit version of Windows will not work on the 32-bit version of Windows
  • I have a HP Pavilion Windows Vista Home Premium, and the D: drive is full.

I have a HP Pavilion Windows Vista Home Premium, and the D: drive is full. I don't understand how he got that way... but... I've never used windows to the top, however I do back up with my Norton Security.  I'm not a COMPUTER guru AT ALL and am very confused as to what must be saved for me to do a system restore.  I just made a backup on a 16 GB usb flash drive, which included photos, documents, email, contacts and music.  But what of my registry or my drivers I've updated on the latest updates of 2 years and windows?

So in plain English for the layperson to the computer, lol, can someone tell me...

    1. where should I back up to? (windows, norton?)

    2. what should I back up? EXACTLY, please. lol (I have hundreds of games, I don't want to back to the top if possible)

3 and... HOW MUCH ALCOHOL SHOULD I HAVE AVAILABLE WHILE TRYING THIS. LOL just kidding. Laughing out loud

    Hello

Updates must be installed in a certain order and no Service Pack must be installed unless and until it is offered through Windows Update.

    However, try these options:

Step 1: You can not reuse what already automatically downloaded and installed. You can however save updates and install them manually if you wish.

Step 2: You can create a system image on the computer. A system image is an exact copy of a disc. By default, a system image includes the drives required for Windows to run. In addition, it includes Windows and your system settings, programs and files. You can use a system image to restore the contents of your computer if your hard drive or computer ever stops working.
