Is it you like/help/me/to/figure/out/what/to/check/or/uncheck/in/performance & maitence.

There is an old thread here relatively long--> http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-xp/spacebar-doesn ' t-work/174339.html

The cause of the problem has not been found, but the symptoms went away with a new keyboard.  I saw several other complaints about your problem, and the only successful suggestion was a new keyboard.

You have a laptop or a desktop/Tower computer?

Your keyboard connects wirelessly (1) USB (2) or (3) PS/2 (round plug)?

Your keyboard has a specific button that is supposed to go into sleep/standby/Hibernate?

    Hello

Control Panel - SOUNDS - Audio peripheral devices configuration-manager

Make sure you write down the description and model double click top - tab drivers - write version. Now
Click on update drivers who cannot do anything like MS is far behind the certification of drivers. Then RIGHT
CLICK above and UNINSTALL - REBOOT - this will rebuild the driver stack.

If your driver shows 06 you have the default windows and part of the question.

Go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest Audio/Sound drivers - download - SAVE - go to the place where you
Put them - right click on Reboot - RUN AS ADMIN -.

Check the Version on the tab of the driver in the device as a sound Manager often restoring drivers, then install
the current version. Restart and check after each try, not uncommon to have to run the pilot of 1 to 4 times or more.
Just make sure that the version you have installed appears in the tab of the driver.

Then navigate to the site of the manufacturer of the device and search for the drivers more recent and repeat the installation procedure.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

    After the updated driver.

Click with the right button on the speaker near clock - recorders - right click in the box - check show disconnected devices
and show disabled devices - check your micro - highlight them, then lower right properties. Do
of course the appropriate injector is enabled and check that other settings - on the levels tab make sure MUTE is not checked
    and APPLY / OK changes.

  • Backup and restore in Control Panel broken

    Hello

I just replaced an aging C: / hard drive with an SSD Samsung and cloned my OS 64 bit Windows 7 overall. I used data migration the Samsung app.

Everything goes well except in emergency control panel and restore does not work. Screenshot see attachment. Clicking in the pane does nothing.

I ran sfc/scannow, and he did not find any breach of integrity. VolumeShadowCopy is in automatic mode.

Can anyone offer any words of wisdom?

    Thank you, SuperNiceNina.

    Hello Gerry,.

Yes it is the service Windows backup that I put on automatic to get Control Panel Backup and Restore works again.

After your post I put it to manual and it always of the functions.

I thought initially that Auto was the best in that sense, it runs automatically. What is the functional difference between manual and automatic startup type settings?

    Thank you very much.

original title: scrolling vertical bar troubleshooting

I have IE 9 with Vista, logitech wireless mouse. Recently, I had problems with my vertical scroll.  If I try to go into the menu for something I don't see that it reverses back to the top before I can choose something less. If I try to adjust my sound on the taskbar, it goes back to the high and will not stay where I put it. I can use my mouse to point, but not to move the scroll bar down. I have to use my page down. I can also drag either.

What is the model of the mouse?

You can also try to change the mouse settings in the Control Panel or try to uninstall then reinstall mouse and make sure you have installed the latest drivers. You can find more information about your mouse below

my system does not start upwards - don't stop progression blue bar that goes round and round.  I can boot into safe mode and safe mode with networking mode.

    Hello

As you are able to boot to the desktop in Mode safe, it means that the third-party application prevents the computer from starting in normal mode. To check you can configure the computer to clean start State and then try to boot into normal mode and check what is happening. To set up its own start-up follow the link below.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If the problem does not continues when the computer is in the clean start State follow the steps listed to identify which application is causing the problem.

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Problems with error Windows Audio and Control Panel "one or more of the audio service is not running.

I'm a bit of a technophobe, but I'll try to explain my problem, I got better.  I recently had a problem with Windows 8 and refreshed my system.  After refreshing, I installed AVG Anti-virus and that's where my problems really started.  After installing AVG I have no sound and my control panel usually pop up.  The box is displayed but there is nothing in it and it sorts just of sticks, frozen.  I tried the fixes recommended to fix my sound. The speaker in my taskbar icon has a red x on it and when I try to open it it goes right to the problem-solving mode, then comes up with "one or more of the audio service is not running.  When I try "run services.msc' and try to start Windows Audio through Services I get error 0x800706cc.  I tried to uninstall AVG and reboot, but it did make a difference.  Please help, this leads me to the madness now.  Nothing I try seems to work!

Installation of AVG is when the problems started, I would start by undoing that.  Since the normal uninstall did not help, use system restore to return to a work situation.  Check here and use the #1 option.

Original title: repair Windows scam - Can can't Access Control Panel or workstation

My system has been recently infected with "Windows" repair"virus. I managed to delete using Super Anti-Spyware, but all my desktop shortcuts are gone (hidden) so I downloaded "Unhide.exe" and get all my shortcuts. Most of them seems to be working as before, but there are a few, such as 'My Computer', ' Panel, "My Documents", or even "Windows Explorer", which I can't access.» When I try to open them, I get this popup box saying "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" how much he out me of my office of kicks.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

    Brian

The best way to solve this maybe just create a new user account, transfer your personal data to this account, and then delete the old account. Make sure that you perform the system restore after you did the new account and everything works fine. To purge the system restore, simply disable it then again. Be aware that the creation of a new user account is not the means to get rid of malware. But it is perhaps the best way to get rid of some of the after effects. However, I recommend you scan with Malwarebytes before running these instructions. After scanning you may not create the new account.

In addition, Jose is correct. Good number of new forms of malware prevent the start in safe mode. Trying to force booting in SafeMode with msconfig, you end up with a boot loop.

  • Can I remove old security updates for Windows Internet Explorer 7 and Windows XP out of my control panel to give me more space?

In my control panel, I have about 50 updates to security of Windows Internet Explorer 7 and Windows XP.  Keep Microsoft sending me error messages saying that I need to delete some of my programs in my control panel, so my System Restore so that they are able to track or undo harmful replaces my e asking me to free more disk space by removing programs that I don't use.  Can I delete some old updates of security out of my control panel?

    Hi RamonaBrooks,

No, you should not remove installed Windows updates as they are supposed to be there on the computer. In this case, you get low disk space messages, try the following.

Method 1: Run this utility of automated troubleshooting and see if it helps.

Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks

Method 2: Run Disk Cleanup to free up space.

    Hello

    · Do you remember all the recent changes on the computer before the show?

    · What is the service pack installed?

    · What is the number and the model of the computer

  • Sound problems. When I try to test my sound in the Control Panel, it says "the test sound could not be played."

For about two days, my sound is really starting to * me off. = D now, the problem is that it seems to you that it works (its icon in the lower-right corner is white and with three soundwaves), however, there just not sound at all. When I try to test my sound in Control Panel, it says "the test sound could not be played." When I go into the Device Manager, it says that everything is up to date and working correctly. Also, when I try to play any audio or video file in WMV, he said is a problem and it stops at the video. I tried deleting and reinstalling all audio drivers and then it works for about two minutes, but then it stops working again.

  • Control Panel problems

My Control Panel will not open. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Hello

What antivirus/antispyware/security products you have on your machine? Include all that already been including
those that you uninstalled. (These can leave leftovers that can cause strange problems.)

A search for all most .cpl files will be in "C:\Windows\System32" However, you can have others. Click
each of them at a time and see if it does not start - if so right-click on it and rename it using cpZ as the extension is is to find. Retry Control Panel - if no joy persevering of all .cpl files. (Note that others are under other files under C:\Windows not should be judged, because they are not active).

    Some of them are appwiz.cpl firewall.cpl, desk.cpl, powercfg.cpl, inetcpl.cpl, timedate.cpl and others.

Try these in case the General corruption has a role to play:

Start - type this in the search box-> find COMMAND at the top and RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN
