  • IDCS5/MAC - Style GREP in capital letters of a letter after a hyphen between the words

    G ' Day here.

    I'm trying to create a GREP style for uppercase letter after a hyphen between the words, specifically with a word beginning with a capital and after a dash do not for example Lorem-ipsum = Lorem -Ipsum

    The full story, it's that there is an indesign batch file used over and over again that family names that are in a large database of data - merge. Data arrives in capital letters and our mail barcoding software allows us to title case some fields, but the behavior of title case has the following results:

    * = Mcleod McLeod

    * = Agostino Agostino

    * Smith-Bunting = Smith-Bunting

    I was able to solve the = problem with the following GREP style Mcleod McLeod:

    (?<=Mc)\l

    and then apply a character style that is nothing more than all caps.

    Similarly, I was able to solve the problem = D'Agostino of Agostino:

    (?<=\u')\l

    and once more apply style all uppercase to the letter assigned. This also solves the problem of O 'leary to o' Leary.

    However, when I try these GREPs to enter style Bunting-Smith questions:

    (?<=\u\l+?-)\l     or   (?<=\u\l{2,}-)\l

    the search does not work, nor will it work with regular replacement of find/change GREP... and yet the expression \u\l+?-\l will find the block I'm after.

    I could use the search

    (?<=\l-)\l

    and is that Smit untingh-b= Smith-Bunting... but there is also co-ontervenir = co-Ontervenir (find two words with a hyphen but begins with a lowercase letter).

    That's fine if the paragraph style is applied to the line in the address block containing the name of the client, but if the name is mentioned in a text block, then that block of text must have the paragraph with the GREP style applied style and dashes between words in that para is in the same way as the name.

    Yes, it is possible to go into excel and use the PROPER (cell affected) = and fix fields Smith-Bunting, but I am trying to create a solution that only works in InDesign so that other operators in the office (who are not familiar with excel) can simply open the file of commands and dump in the database to txt generated by the mail bar coding software.

    There are other names that-case of barcoding mail title fault upward, i.e.

    * = Macleod MacLeod

    * van der Graaf = Van Der Graaf

    * van Diemen = Van Diemen

    but a GREP make MacLeod of Macleod can clog Mack, Mackie or Macy become MacK, MacKie or MacY.

    I also know that a GREP for the van der or van will not work as the style will force letters only to be all uppercase, not uppercase to lower...

    In the end...

    does anyone know how to style GREP (not a find/change GREP) a fix for Xxxxx-xxxxx = Xxxxx-Xxxxx?

    Colly

    Colecandoo.

    I agree with Haakenlid on his reviews of Dirty-workaround - in my opinion, the data should be entered in the way which it oguht, not altered by some magical GREP styles - but then again, I can also sympathize with your POV re: a fire-and-forget solution even your stupidest operator can not miss.

    Oh the rigors of life.

    If you are totally, absolutely certain you want to GREP for that, use this:

    b define a character to capitals on the chain style

    \b\u\l+\-\l

    -This will change as if by magic "the Honourable lieutenant Sir John Forsythe Blunt-object" in "BLUNT object".

    (b) then replace (!) the first half with another style of character that removes the attribute of capitals (!):

    \b\u\l+-(?=\l)

    Notice how this expression is exactly the same as the one above, except for the latest code - the next tiny need also be captured, but now, by using an advanced search for its formatting will be not affected.

    This command removes the substitution all uppercase the first halve, change 'BLUNT-object' 'Blunt-object '.

    Many side effects, I'm sure. Maybe it 's safer to teach your operators to run a single script.

  • How to open an Indesign file with a missing plugin

    Is it possible to open a file that has a missing plugin?

    This is the case:

    We used an outside designer who is on indesign CS5 and cup of tea barcode software plugin cs5

    We have received his files in CS4, but it's always tell us that there is a missing plugin.

    I guess it's a Teacup Software. Is there a way to get around this?

    Unless the plugin is really necessary for the file opens correctly, exporting to .inx and recording as one new .indd should remove the plugin information.

  • TCP communication with barcode reader Keyence SR-1000 series

    So I have a client who needs help to connect the code reader barcode Keyence SR-1000 using TCP/IP to a LabVIEW application. After researching 'Connection 'document' of Keyence for TCP, I realize that it is based on their utility software alone.

    As I have no experience with barcode readers, I'd appreciate any advice on what to look for and how to implement a 'driver'-based on the VISA for this device. Or, in general, how are the best scanners of bar codes connected to LabVIEW.

    You must contact the manufacturer of the barcode reader and ask for documentation on TCP communication. Otherwise, the best you could do is to use a tool like WireShark to 'sniff' the TCP data and try to understand what the scanner data is read/write at their own software and try to reproduce it.

    There are many manufacturers/types of barcode scanners - some have their own drivers (DLL, for example) you can call, some use Ethernet/RS-232, some simply to emulate a keyboard and "type" characters of the barcode.

    Can you help me please? I have a problem with my printer where it is not print coupons ONLY correctly. Nothing else I have print, print with precision (Word documents, Excel documents, etc.). For some strange reason, whenever I have print a coupon, it distorts the bar code, but also the tio where appears the expiration date. This could be the cause of this problem?

    At first, I thought it was the ink, but when I realized that the ink was still nearly full, I thought maybe it's not that. However, I have replaced the ink after printing a previous document and then I printed out the document below. The results are always the same.

    I also ran a printhead clean and alignment, which came successful return. I uninstalled and reinstalled www.coupons.com printing software, as well as the printer of catalina www.target.com and the results as well, were the same. What would be your suggestions?

    Also, I tried on a canon printer cheap that I have and it works well. I am able to print with the barcode showing and able to be scanned.

    Hi @Ms_Mel_B and welcome to the Forums of HP.

  • Code sample of Bluetooth barcode scanner

    Hi all

    I'm trying to read data from a bluetooth scanner. The BlackBerry BluetoothSerialPortDemo shows how to handle this, I can connect to the scanner, but I never recover data.

    The manufacturer was told by a local software to emulate the keyboard, but I don't see any sense on this. Is it hard just to open a serial port and read what the scanner sends?

    You have some examples of how open the bluetooth serial port and how to get the data from the barcode scanner?

    Thanks in advance.

    You don't need a corner.

    You just need to write your own communication code that will retrieve the barcode scanned the scanner and your fill with data.

  • Applications/install blackBerry smartphones will not be displayed in Desktop software

    Hello, I use a Torch 9860 FW 7.0.0.585, which is connected through Desktop Software 6.1 with a Windows PC (Outlook 2003/XP Prof SP3). This morning, I met a weird problem. Connect my BB with my PC, I decided to check the installed applications since I've updated the FM last night (via software updater from my camera).

    Big surprise! Except a few Apps (WhatsApp, a scanner for barcode, GPS-Logger) no other apps or FW facilities therein. The day before the FW all list of facilities one all paty apps 3rd place indicated in one neat, long - now: nothing except these few applications. I tried to reinstall the Desktop und reconnected my device software - but to no avail.

    Anyone have a similar problem?

    I'm a little worried about changing to say packages installed language or other preferences FW since I don't know any other way, then use the application button in the desktop software to do this. In the current state, it would be impossible.

    I would be very grateful for some tips or tricks.

    Hi - Thanks for your ad. In the meantime, I found the solution here:

    http://forums.CrackBerry.com/Desktop-Manager-F153/applications-DM-will-not-show-torch-apps-list-6829...

    My DM contained only the 'old' FM, not the updated version. I downloaded the new version of my website providers, installed on my computer, restarted DM and: voila - all applications including basic software has shown once again in the Apploader.

    I hope this helps my colleagues here too!

  • Create barcodes in 2d (Datamatrix) using BI Publisher in oracle Apps 11.5.10.2

    Hello

    Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

    We try to create 2D (datamatrix) barcodes in BIPublisher report. We are on Oracle 11.5.10 applications and BI publisher is 10.3.4.1

    Follow the instructions on the links following but still unable to generate bar codes in the output.

    https://blogs.Oracle.com/XmlPublisher/entry/2d_barcodes_cracked

    https://blogs.Oracle.com/XmlPublisher/entry/advanced_barcode_support

    A few questions before asking the real problem I am facing:

    1 oracle have built-in support for the creation of codes datamatrix 2D barcode in BI Publisher (in an application environment)? Or do we have to pay third party (such as IDAutomation) software for encoder classes?

    2. is there a built-in support for generating 2D barcodes in Oracle reports in an environment of 11.5.10 applications?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

    You will need to use the Desktop Publisher tool to create the model for use in an application environment. Only the Desktop Publisher versions listed in the Doc of MOS are compatible with EBS - other versions can cause issues like that appeal to you.

  • How can I generate a data merge that includes a barcode in excel spreadsheet for InDesign?

    Can you please indicate whether the following process is possible in InDesign CS 5.5? (Mac OS 10.8.2).

    We need to create a data merge that includes a barcode. The fusion of data concerns several thousand records.

    We have a customer supplied Excel spreadsheet that contains seven fields, which is a number which ultimately must print a barcode when we do the data to merge in InDesign.

    As you expected, the classic six data fields merge perfectly - but we can't find a way to make the code barcode printed properly within the data merge.

    We looked at several possible solutions without success.

    Some of the solutions suggest a plug-in for Excel convert the number to a code bar while still in the spreadsheet - but this does not come across properly when import us the CSV file in the InDesign data merge.

    We studied some third party software applications, but neither gives the complete solution that we need. Some, for example, seem to create the bar code in the Excel worksheet but do not produce the barcode correctly when us data merge in InDesign; and some we will create a unique bar code in InDesign, but have no automated way to recover thousands of numbers in Excel and turn them into bar codes.

    We have you met also possible solutions "police" but have had no success with these either.

    Previous employment, only to produce us entrusted to a specialist mailing company, who assured us that they have produced all the work (very quickly) in InDesign. They, understandably, don't tell us how they did it. But, given the speed with which they have produced work for us, we imagine - with the correct software - the whole process is easy to do.

    Can you please specify?

  • Scanning of barcodes in pdf numbers?

    Not a lot of information on the forum about it.

    I was experimenting with the code objects bar in LC ES2 library (version 9.0.0, Windows 7) and it looks that they turn manually entered data into barcodes.

    The inverse function is available?

    To put it more precisely, what I would like is to be able to scan a bar code label and then have the numbers represents the code bar appear in a field, without the barcode image.

    Is it possible in the designer, or do I need an extra room of module/software for this?

    You need a barcode for this scanner... .put the cursor in a field, scan the barcode and he sticks the keyboard and the value of the bar code appears in the field.

  • Integration of barcode asset management and LR

    I discovered to my delight that you can integrate Lightroom and asset print barcode-based management. It is a way of:

    1. automate label printing for images without no regeneration of the keys to the information, and
    2. automate the process of finding the image of which a copy has been made

    Why do? You can sell prints or make just for your pleasure. It is advisable to provide some labeling of the draws for you (or buyer) know what they're looking at. It may be useful to be able to quickly find the source of the print image. Of course, you can simply include the name on the label and type it to find the source image. But produced labels look a bit messy with an arbitrary filename sometimes stuck in there. One option is to include a barcode neat on the label. You can then use your webcam to read the label and directly insert the file name in the search field of LR. Presto! To the top appears the image, where the print was made.

    Warning: My apologies to Mac users, I only discovered this on a PC. I'm sure there are substitutes for each of the things that I used.

    What you need to do this [PC]:

    • Lightroom (LOL)
    • LR/carrier (very useful for many things)
    • Excel (optional, but part of my workflow)
    • A way to print labels with barcodes. I use a cheap Brother which comes with the P-Touch editor printer.
    • A webcam
    • Webcam barcode reader software. I use bcWebCam which is free

    How to:

    I'm going to sketch out how I do with specific gear I have and then suggest how you can get in with the other gear.

    Simple workflow:

    1. Implement the LR/carrier to export a summary file of the image export, which includes all of the fields you want on your label (including of course the file name). Format of comma-delimited CSV file with a header row to set the exported fields. It is saved and reused as a preset for export. Routlinely that I can then select the images I am printing and export them to a dummy folder that I use for the purpose of transferring Image information.
    2. I use my label printer with a model that merges the data from the CSV file on a label with the name of the file printed as a QR barcode. Generally, I put a label directly on the opposite impression, and in the box, the other at the rear of the chassis. With impressions of high quality art, I do only the latter in order to avoid any possibility of problems with fading the obverse of paper glue. Here is an example.LabelExample.jpg
    3. Having already installed bcWebCam, if I need to find an image that needs a bit of a search (probably only if I have not worked on it recently), I load bcWebCam while LR is running, place my mouse cursor in the search field in the library view (after you have selected the root of my catalog) and hold the label print in front of the webcam. Presto! bcWebCam inserts the file name in the search field and the image in LR!

    Actually, I use excel as an intermediary to read LR/carrier data and reformat elements. One of the reasons is the information exported by LR/carrier GPS has some weird characters in it and they need to be cleaned. Characters with accents or umlauts also need special treatment. Excel also allows me to define how each label I want to print... The label printer software reads the file excel as a database and allows the printing of the required number of labels.

    If you are interested in this solution, you are likely to have dozens or hundreds of thousands of images in which case camera generated file names is not unique. I add a month and year in the import and conversion to DNG in LR to ensure that file names are unique. There are a range of other alternatives that may suit your workflow better. But don't forget, you need something that LR is located in a single search. It may be you create an ID unique in a field EXIF or IPTC - this also works...  Some smart rabbit can point on for me there is some infallible automatic unique identifier for each image in LR can be viewed and exported, but I'm not aware of it. I guess that time (to the second) imaging is pretty close, but I do not see how to find a search field entry on this...

    Where you may need to find workarounds:

    If you're on a PC, the only thing that is not available on the net is the barcode label printer. In the past, I used to print labels on sheets of multiple labels with a laser printer. It is not obvious to me how to translate the unique identifier of image in a barcode for this approach, but I don't know there will be an out there. But I came to the conclusion that a dedicated "we demand" label printer would save a huge amount of messing around. I think the brother model I use is about US$ 79, which isn't exactly breaking any bank. And the continuous paper roll that I use means labels end up about 2.5 cents a noise...  What makes this or even the most capable models (with auto-couteaux) such a lot is the P-touch software that fact all the sequence database to the field labels and bar code information. Worth the price alone, I think. There are other free and paid webcam barcode there readers too; I noticed that works for me...

    This may seem rather complex to implement. But the reality is, once the export, print templates and database are in place, it's all automatic.

    Hello

    Great use of LR/carrier

    Strange characters is the fact that LR/carrier produced files with a UTF-8 encoding.  You must be able to read as well as see them.  Most applications can read UTF - 8 these days.
