  Hey all, yet another question.

  I'm on Qosmio E10 with MCE 2004.
  When I go to "Windows Update" I see something called "Update Rollup 1 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Windows XP Media Center 2005" (KB888795) Edition "»
  It is optional and install it I has yet because I'm not sure if I'm supposed to install at all since I'm on MCE 2004.

  I read another thread on this forum saying that this update completely screwed the infrared receiver on some configurations.

  So, question: Toshiba recommends installing this update for MCE 2005 on an MCE 2004 installation?

  (I was surprised that it appears in Windows Update despite my MCE 2004..., perhaps a bug of Microsoft?)

  My opinion is: don t touch a system running unless you are talking about an update to security... but MS recommends the update, so you can do the update, but it is at your own risk... as far as I know, Toshiba do support the software they offer with unit... not necessarily MS Update.
  In this case, you can try to run the update. If something goes wrong, you can roll back the OS with Restore tool.

• Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall is not displayed correctly.

  Firefox has just updated from 5. < something > to 7.0.1 on my HP Windows 7 64 bit PC.

  Before the upgrade, the Barracuda Spam dialog correctly.

  After the upgrade, the left column where all the boxes are, is now too narrow to display the boxes and watch instead of points. If I have the mouse on where the box is supposed to be, a small pop-up appears and displays the checkbox but I can't go to her because she seems to be a sort of invocation of method of scoring.

  First of all, we noticed this on the computer of my wife which apparently updated 7.0.1 earlier today. Open the same page in IE works fine. Open the same page on my update of the computer pre-Firefox worked fine. After the upgrade, it won't display correctly now.

  I can verify that it is not attached to either 9.0. However, my ISP switched to one just today updated Barracuda Spam and Virus Firewall. It is running Firmware version 5.1.0.013 production and boxes now display correctly.

• Changes in theme XP MCE on pomp P100-429

  Hi Chaps,

  I put a larger HD in my P100-429 and used the supplied CD and re - install and downloaded the 150 M of updates for XP MCE. Everything seems to go well with a very annoying exception. Theme XP guard reset the XP standard theme when I want to start the classic theme. Go to change the theme again and some places the theme will be reported as XP and others as classic. Anyone have any ideas on how to get Windows "remember" the setting correctly?

  It seems to be a problem with the XP theme. This service is in charge of the properly theme changing.

  I need a temporary way to read my hard drive to a laptop desk.  I broke the screen while moving and do not want to replace because eventually I'll get a laptop.  In the meantime, I was told that one could do the hard drive in an external player by buying a low-cost housing that make it an external drive and just connect to a laptop with a USB cable.

  I'm shopping online... and I don't know what size box will hold the hard drive.  They come in the descriptions of 2.5 inches and 3.5 inches. You are not sure if it's the physical dimension, for example the width or thickness?

  Does anyone know how to determine what my hard drive hard drive enclosure size fit in?  It's a Barracuda 7200.12 750 GB.

  In addition, any thoughts on how it actually works – is it really that simple... plug-and-play?

  During the recording of TV programs on the hard drive, I must say that the quality is not as good as expected (VHS quality).

  The recording quality is set to high (possible bes in MCE).
  I also burned CD and tested the quality on a DVD player
  display the image on a plasma screen Pioneer XDE-436.

  Not good!

  The quality of the tuner built (analog/digital hybrid) is not as good? (TV signal really ok - cable TV). Or MCE limited somehow?

  IM of the opinion which is a receiver of low quality that I have problems to pick up channels whearas my other digitial tuner box provides a picture perfect around my house on other equipment

• Qosmio G20 Win XP MCE: no audio device found

  Hi friends...

  IM using qosmio G20 Win Xp (MCE).
  The problem is that if I open the audio device and its control panel shows that is no audio device.
  But always in my device manager, I see that the audio drivers are installed for audio codec, video codec, inheritance... etc...

  When I boot the pc im able to adjust the volume with scroll volume control located on the laptop. I can see the blue wire shines increasing forward...
  But when it ends im not able to adjust the volume using the start scrolling...
  Can any 1 give me a cure?

  1 should I install * model MIDI MPU-401 device * or something else to work?

  First go to the Device Manager and remove the sound card (mark and uninstall the driver)
  Then download the audio driver from the European driver Toshiba page and install it!

  I have a G20 with Media Center Edition and wonder why in my videos and my pictures in the media library, the first folder listed is "Epson Perfection 1200. This folder is empty and as such may either be read or deleted.

  I have an Epson Perfection 1200 scanner attached but searched my pc and don't have any file such as 'Epson Perfection 1200' and would like to remove this from the media library interface.

  Someone knows it why it appears and how do I get rid of him?

  I'm no expert of MCE, but I think that MCE comes to support data from the Windows folder structure. Try to remove this folder to another location in Windows Explorer.

• Problems with MCE and G10-100.

  Hi all,

  I have an old G10 from 6 months which was very problematic to say the least.

  The main problem is with MCE and MY TV on the setup and constant of hanging and crashing when it is chosen also when it works sometimes in fact the image and sound just break up.

  I already reinstalled the recovery using CD, but nothing no is all the problems again.

  Any ideas?

  One of my friends has laptop Qosmio and I had the opportunity to check this device. Beautiful part of material.

  On his unit, everything works fine. I checked the settings of MCE almost all because I was very interested in this topic. I didn t find something that can be like the issue you described.

  In my opinion if there is a problem after installing the OS using the recovery CD you should contact your local dealer or service partner. I'm sure that your device has a valid warranty and if there is a serious problem the warranty will cover all costs.

  Why I don't know much about windows media center of myself but having just bought a g-20 a week ago.
  I can tell you how I use s-video in, and not with the library itself.

  I don't know what software the G10 came with, but I was using Intervideo windvd creator. This allows me to record tv via s-video and then edit/burn it etc. It saves files in MPEG, you decide the rest. Please make sure that set you it so that he knows that you use s-video of course.

  Recently, I reloaded the OS on a Qosmio F20 (PQF20A-00D00C) customers. They have no recovery disks and I have no recovery disks (according to a KB article, I found later - is not that I remember all these menu items).

  I'm looking for drivers for such a portable but the Toshiba site has only drivers for LAN, WLAN and bluetooth. I do not see for audio, vga, chipset, etc.

  I don't have time to check it all, but I think all the drivers for WXP MCE should be available on the download page of Toshiba under http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/

  You can also try to find missing drivers on Toshiba European page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp (product type > Archive). I guess that there is not much difference between the Australians and Europeans Qosmio F20.

  Try to find the drivers, that you can use with WXP MCE.

  I have a Qosmio F10-128 on the loan and have a problem with a TV tuner in Windows Media Center.
  During the configuration of the computer, everything seems ok, but when I try to watch a channel of the image is very poor with many artifacts and no noise.

  The strange thing is that everything is working fine with the Qosmio player.

  All connections are fine and as far as I know all the settings are correct.

  Sorry, but I can't believe that MCE can disappear without any reason. Please refer to the manuals of s. here you can find accurate information and an explanation of how connect the antenna to your unit and how you can watch the TV (via Qosmioplayer or MCE).
