Battery care

Hi, I bought a Dell Vostro 5460 and I want to know how to take care of the battery do not reduce the battery because I had a lot of experience of battery die in my previous laptop. So, how can I take care of it?

some questions I have:

-is it possible to use it while charging?

-is it possible to load all night?

-is it possible to load it when it is not yet completely emptied?

-is it possible to continue the load when it is full, while I use it?

-What are the things that I should avoid doing.

also, for some reason that my battery is loading really slow...

Thanks :)

Hi RalphRexel,

Normally the batteries come with a one year default warranty. However, your first four issues are addressed below:

(1) is it safe to use while charging?

Yes

(2) is it acceptable to charge all night?

No, because the battery is overloaded and in a longer term, he will lose his life.

(3) is it acceptable to load when it is not yet completely emptied?

Yes

(4) is it acceptable to continue the load when it is full, while I use it?

Yes

For the rest of the questions, you can check the link below:

You can also let me know if you use a 6-cell or a battery 9 cells.

If you have any other questions answer the same thread.

-For the first and the second time, you should drain at all then a charge to full capacity.

  • Battery care, pls help me clarify :)

I just this rMBP 2015 and the first time mac user.

In regards with the maintenance of the battery, I've been looking for clarification on the ff since my mbp, most of the time stay at home now.

I read most of the people leave mbp plugged when at home to minimize the number of cycle and have it use about 50% at least once or twice a month.

1.) my battery is at 100% so load now it works on power adapter right and theres no risk of overcharging of the bat?

After using my mac or before you go to bed, I mostly read it is not much of a difference in stopping or doing it either "standby mode". But since it will remain unused for long hours, I'd rather stop.

2.) after closure should I unplugged and just plug in again before you turn it on?

I also read that MacBook do not charge from full load up to what he dove percentage as about 95% of batteries? Return to question No. 2, if I disconnect the device after stopping allowing him is charged at 100%. With this logic when I plug it again before using it will run directly on the right power adapter?

3.) it would be better if I stop > disconnect > plug > turn on? and just it run on battery until 50% once every two weeks?

    1. the OSX controls the battery charge.  There is no risk of overcharging.

    2. it makes no difference.  I leave it plugged only because it's one less thing to do.

    3. when a MBP was fully charged (100%), the charger will stop charging the battery but provide power to operate the MBP.  At this point the battery behaves as if it is stored on a shelf and be discharged very slowly.  When less than 95% charge level, then the battery will start recharging as well as the power to run the MBP.

    Two rules:

If you run the MBP with the charger connected all the time, at least once a month during the MBP with the battery about the 40% level before plugging it back.  Lithium-ion batteries need exercise for long life.

Never completely drain the battery.  That will shorten the battery life.

    Ciao.

  • Charging the battery at 80% battery care options

I remember there used to be a system for windows XP and Vista wehre you could charge your battery at a certain percentage so you could extend the life of it. Apparently load to 100%, decreases the life. There was an option of 50% and 80% option to choose.

    Hello

Check with support from the manufacturer of their books online and the drivers and their forums system
(as applicable) for known issues. Some manufacturer issued BIOS and other updates to help the battery
    problems.

Control Panel control - plan change Options - power plans - power - advanced settings
Parameters for the drainage and the use of parameters (this is how much to use and not how much or how)
    long to load).

In fact, what causes a lot of wear on a battery empties it too low on several occasions. With today
systems overload are not a problem.

Here are some tips to help and troubleshoot battery issues.

Old battery? Unplug the power to the computer - remove the battery and clean the contacts with a pencil
eraser (do not use this, if your battery is fine slots - just clean up the edges of the knife which fit in)
them and be careful). Batteries are old, or it could be a problem with the computer.
Check with the support of the machine system, and many of them have on line forums.

New Lithium-Ion type battery usually last longer if you do not unload then less than 30%
However on a laptop that not extend their life a lot. Best is to use the a/c adapter
    When this is possible.

  • T61p Power Manager - battery care

    Hello

I configured that should start if the load is less than 20% and stop 100% of battery charge.

It seems to me that this configuration makes no sense, my battery is always charged to 100%.

Any help is appreciated, if more information is needed, I can post, no problem.

    T61p, Win XP Prof SP3, 90W, BIOS battery: 7LETB2WW (2.12), 20.02.2008.

    Thank you very much.

It's actually the functioning of the laptop and power eating works very well. Whenever your computer is connected to the adapter, it will always be pulling power so your battery can never fulfill. At least not to my knowledge. These threshold are not constantly reload and discharge you the battery but to protect your battery of unnecessary charge cycles. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I do not understand what are you trying to achieve this way - your electricity bill would not go down by doing this, the work performance would decrease because offers autonomy low power/voltage (one of those anyway), your battery should fade faster. The only point I see is to test the battery life expectancy.

  • Impossible to find battery car or photoshop on the tools.

    Hello

I have CS5 Production Premium, and while in Bridge, I try to call the auto battery function to group the RAW photos I took for merging HDR in PS. problem is, there is no auto battery service avialable, and there is no option under Tools photoshop avialbale. I checked that the automatic collection startup script is enabled in the preferences, but this makes no difference.

What I missed, or what should I do to enable these functions to appear?

    Thank you

    Geoff

I don't think photoshop under Tools option and no automatic stacking under battery options are related.

Because it's pretty weird I would reset the Bridge preferences.  Close the bridge and then hold down the Ctrl Key and launch Bridge.  You should get a window to reset with 3 options.

  • Smart battery from Apple case

    Hello to the community.

I recently bought an original case of smart battery and I'm confused about the operation.

It seems first using the case and when it is empty it begins to use the Iphone's battery.

It is the feature as it was designed. But it would not damage the battery business over time because it remains for 2-3 days at 0%?

All the Iphone battery care tips say to not let a battery the lithium discharged for a long time.

So in mode I can survive with the phone battery only 3 days. Meanwhile, if I reload, the matter remains completely empty.

He shorten the live time of the smart battery case?

I want more discharge mode where the two batteries used simultaneously or at least the option to choose between modes

Most all the external battery packs have electronics that stop her before she reaches completely from scratch. I don't worry about this.

    Hello:

Laptops today have smart cards and smart batteries which means that the adapter is supposed to stop charging the battery when the battery is fully charged.

You can keep the charger connected to the laptop, most of the time, but I suggest that you unplug the charger from the battery twice a month and run the laptop battery until you get the notification to connect to an external power source.
